Anybody remember a movie from the early seventies starring John Wayne driving a green Trans Am.I would like to know the name of that Color,and if that Color was available on Oldsmobile.

The movie is McQ from 1974 and I think it is a 73 TA he is driving. Assuming it is factory paint it looks like Verdant Green poly as seen here. ..

The code 2528 was used Olds in '73 as Emerald Green as well as other makes/models.

As dark (almost black) as it appears, I'd say it's code 48 Brewster Green,used by both Pontiac and Oldsmobile in 1973. Verdant Green is just a bit lighter. Almost every reference I've seen to McQ's "Green Hornet" has it listed as a Brewster Green car, one of 7 SDs in that color.

That poor T/A came to a really, really bad end in McQ. Hope it was a dressed up base Firebird that was used for that particular scene, even if the cars were fairly new back then....

I won't argue colours. Could be both. You are right the car looks almost black most of the time. 1970's films liked to over saturate and over contrast and so do my eyes. Hollywood has never been friendly to cars. They pretty much destroyed a General Lee every episode. Some were held together with 2X4's and pushed/towed through the stunts.

 

I haven't looked at the links yet, but the 1973 Trans Am was available in Brewster Green. If green was available in other years, it wouldn't be until 1975 - there was no green in '74.

I also would be willing to bet the same green was available on Oldsmobiles, but usually the GM brands had a few respective exclusive colors so I can't say for sure without looking it up.
