Tool chest on the way

I'm already asking myself what the hell a 63 year old retiree with low motivation needs with this thing, but I finally broke down and ordered Harbor Freight's 72" roller tool chest. Got a red one; seems to me a tool chest should be red. Yellow, orange and Grinch green not so much.

The idea is to put everything in this one and sell the two smaller Craftsmans I have, but odds are at least one of the Craftsmans will stay with me.. Y'all know how it is- more available tool storage? Dayum, I need more tools!

I have several, including a stack-on Kobalt 3000 Series 41-in W x 37.5-in H 8-Drawer Stainless Steel Rolling Tool Cabinet (the worst rolling casters I've ever had on a tool chest - heck, on anything for that matter). None-the-less, by the time I was finished considering selling a smaller Craftsman, I was already finding things to store in it. It now contains ~30-40 paint brushes, rollers, sandpaper, etc. Hang on to that old Craftsman.

Oh, there's already plenty of that!!

Few years back a buddy was looking at all my junk and commented "god help whoever has to settle your estate!" Sez me "you want the job?" and I was told hell no! I pointed out he was the only one besides me who knew what a lot of the stuff was. His reply? "You better start labeling it"

Keep your smaller tool box for your metric tools. I've run out of room with the two sets and many styles of stuff, like ratcheting box flexes etc. etc.

A fair amount of my co-workers have been buying these toolboxes, and I have to say that the quality appears to be much better than one would expect. Another coworker purchased a new Snap On box that seems way cheaper made than the eighties versions, the backside oil cans.. I remarked with regards to one of the more recent Harbor Freight purchases that the casters seemed pretty nice and he told me that it was made in Canada! Surprised!

I was considering buying one of the HF tool chests. I don't have one and their prices are definitely better than Lowes / Home Depot or SnapOn.

I have Snap on KRL series 54" bottom and 36" drop face top it gives you enough room for a manual or place to set parts or tools for cleanup. It's 25 years old now. Snap on creeper hanging off the non handle end. I love it when you move across un-even pavement. The drawers have detents so the draws don't open on their own.
