RIP Gallagher

One of the longest running popular road acts ever. A great comedian lost.

I recall the first time I watched him bring out the Sledge-O-Matic on watermelons - great stuff. RIP

Saw him once live, good thing we were in the balcony. My brother talked to him a few times at the Santa Paula Ca airport, he had built a one man flying contraption or some such thing. Godspeed!

I remember him best for his bit about stopping for a red light when the guy behind him didn't.

Well okay, Sledge-O-Matic too. Pioneer of prop comedy. RIP.

I remember way back in the early 80's when Gallagher was one of the acts at Starfest (I think that was what it was called). It was held on the grounds of the original EDS Headquarters. That was when Ross Perot was still running EDS. Ross Perot apparently had no idea who Gallagher was. After he performed, Perot offered to refund anybody's money that was offended by Gallaghers performance. He was pretty risqué for the time.

Saw him at the Dallas Convention Center. Luckily our seats were about fifteen rows back from the front. The ones in front knew better and brought plastic sheet to cover with.
