Ride Height of 68 Cutlass

Ride Height of 68 Cutlass

I was looking at a copy of Car Craft from October of 1967 and came across this picture from the new car offerings from 1968. Look at the ride height of the Cutlass in the top photo. Does it look a little low? This is where my Cutlass sits with lowering springs! Thoughts anyone?

I think that the 442 is a GM ad photo ( MFG's license plate), and they typically showed a very low ride height. Notice that the Cutlass below it sits higher, and if you see vintage dealership pics, the ride height is higher.

For what it's worth, the ride height is specified in the Frame section (if I recall), under the title "Carrying Height."

I agree that the car in the first photo was lowered for photographic effect.

A lot of those '68-9 promotional photos of A-bodies were like that and I always thought they looked dumb with the top sections of the tires obscured by the wheelwells.
