realoldspower.com is it a joke ?

Thank heavens this site is here the realolds site is a joke registered on 8/22/2009 got a e-mail they had received my registration but one of the admin folks would have to get off there tremendous rump and send me a e-mail to activate it. There is no contact info so you can't even ask them to fix it. wow guess I am a bit steamed.

Maybe they should turn over the site to someone who can run it like its 2009!! I registered with my email address in May and with my wifes email in July. I guess they Dont check there own site much. Anyhow I met a handful of people from ROP at Byron a few weeks ago and everyone was pretty cool. It would be nice to be able to chat with everyone more but I guess I have to wait and see. I've been into Oldsmobiles since my first car at 18 and am on my 4th at 34. I'm more of a go fast nut then a restoration type. I say Lets embrace Technology and make'em Better and Faster.

I think it took me over 6 months to finally get registered. I'm on 4 olds boards so I get a variety of people. And a lot of the same people on all of them.

IDK.

I've been trying to get into ROP for a few years now.

I heard there are guys on there that say "You can't put a 350 Olds in a car that has a 307" and amazingly enough "How'd you'd get that 350 or 455 in that car?"

I joined ROP quite a long time ago so never had difficulties. I must say they have a lot of knowledgeable people over there, especially engine building. The site name says it all, I got a lot of good guidance on my last engine build. The site is so large it is kind of a good feeling to come back here and spend some time with people I feel I know. Benefits to being small, benefits to being large I guess.......

Between this site and BTRBills performance site I don't think ROP will matter for too much longer. I know several people that I have tried to help get on with no luck.

you are dreaming,ROP is the Premier Olds board, bar none

no Olds board has the amount of info that ROP has coming from the people who were there, whether racing or at the assembly line

every Olds board has it's crowd, some choose to stay on the one they like,as is this board.

i hate to say it,but Bill's board is a dead zone.all they do on there is bad mouth engine builders they didnt buy anything from, and some goofs that got booted off of ROP

I was registered on ROP many years ago. I haven't looked at the site for quite awhile. Their database is so large that the website takes infinity to load.

I sent in a request to join about a year and a half ago and never heard back.
After waiting awhile I came to the conclusion that they already have enough members.

I like this site but RealOlds Power are more for the performance enthusiast which I am. Someday I'll be on there instead of a browser.

Hater.

And in the several years I have been on Oldspower, I have not once seen a post like that where it was not a joke or the people were corrected immediately.

I wouldn't call ROP the premier board. If they were, there wouldn't be people over here going "why can't I log on or why can't I be a member or why is the site down AGAIN??" Premier boards wouldn't have that issue. Now what I can agree 100% with is ROP is the place to go if you want to go fast. Bar none. IF you choose just to lurk from the outside and don't wish to post a question.

IMHO, all of the Olds sites have thier own niche. I agree that each has thier own crowd. ROP is the racer site... www.Classicoldsmobile.com has blossomed nicely over the past couple years and is still gaining momentum. www.Oldspower.com is for the average guy just trying to fix or restore his Oldsmobile. 73-77Cutlass is just that. Its the difference between going to McDonalds, Burger King or Hardee's (Carl's Jr). Each one sells burgers, but not everyone likes all three. Then there are the breakaway guys that start thier own sites for various reasons. Nothing wrong with that. Let them be the Deloreans of the Olds community... its cool.

THere isn't one single Olds site to date that does not have it's inherent flaws.

If I wasn't sitting here at a government computer with 75% of the internet blocked, I would (find) post an email address that would get you guys closer to getting logged on to ROP.

They recently switched over to a new server. They don't have near as many "internet performance" issues as they had in the past. Runs rather smooth now.

I agree, well put. Flaws? you didn't have to mention me...

Cool. I will have to check it out this evening. FWIW, I have to say that our website is a bit more family oriented than Oldspower or ROP. At least that is my perception. ROP might have gotten a little bit more civilized since I was there last time.

I assure you Oldspower is tamer than ROP, but not as tame as here.

I have the email address for direct help to ROP. I have PM'd Oldsguy because I don't know if they would care to have thier Email plastered all over another site, not thier own.

You can PM me, but it may take longer to get back to you than Oldsguy.

I just got accepted finally after this thread. Just so everyone knows, I did notice there is a sticky thread on realoldspower that says "attention all registering members" or something like that and then it tells you who to e-mail after you've registered to get your account approved. I did that like last week and I got approved today and I can now officially post on there.
