Question on Freight Carriers

I have a small shipment I need to have transported from Ohio to Idaho. It is estimated by the vendor to be on a skid measuring 55” x 55” x 32”, Class 250, 165 lbs. Looking for a recommendation on the least expensive freight carrier.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

The best prices I've found have been through Fastnal Third Party Logistics

A couple details you need to know about it. Unless its fully enclosed in a crate they will not insure it. Also, if you ship body parts they have to be described as "non-cosmetic auto parts" otherwise they will not ship them. I have shipped a couple sets of quarter panels wrapped in cardboard from refrigerator boxes then strapped down to two pallets attached end to end and they traveled just fine. I've also shipped several engines and Toronado transmissions and they too traveled just fine. I've been told they will ship car frames but when I tried to ship a 1964 Cutlass convertible frame last summer they said it was too large. So that's my number one shipper to check with for anything that needs to go on a skid. John

I used FedEx freight to ship a pair of doors from Maryland to the midwest. I dropped them off at a sorta local FedEx freight hub. Pretty cheap if i recall.

If you know anyone with a company that ships freight they will have a huge savings over just being a normal person.

I highly recommend Fastenal. They are a logistics company (Like McMaster Carr) and use this shipping service simply to fill up their trucks that run among their stores. So long as there is a store within a reasonable distance at each end, and you're not in a hurry, this is far and away the least expensive way to go.

Unfortunately Fastenal is not an option as the vendor will not deliver to a Fastenal location.
