Exh, ext, xst - I can figure those out, and they're fair if you're using the terms a lot and typing fast.

When I see the word "dizzy," though, I reach for my pistol, unless the poster is talking about how drunk he was last night.
("dist" is actually fewer characters).

The bottom line is when you are trying to communicate something to someone it is counter productive to make them work hard to try to understand you.
Speak clearly, write clearly, and people will respond. Write in jibberish and people who really are trying to help you will get frustrated and give up. Remember that they are trying to help, so make it easy for them.
When you post something, read through it and make sure you can understand what it is you said before hitting "Post". Do not be lazy. You are asking others to give of their time, so you have to make an effort first.
Just my opinion.
Cheers, Peter

PS - it would be nice if everyone could sign their posts so we could address our replies by name.

Sorry Eric, I believe just Steve, Octania, and myself.

Peter, the only reason I don't add my name to my sig is there would be 2 many Eric's hanging around here.

Actually I think you are the only one NOT on his ignore list...which is odd because he sends me pm's all the time

A kid that has been talking to me for the last year and a half wants to go to flight school. So he finally asks me for a letter of recommendation. I told him I want to get his life story, what he is about, his accomplishments, etc. so that I have some meat to work with for his recommendation.

He sent it to me...

IN 20 TEXT MESSAGES. FAIL.

Sure dude, I'll write you a recommendation letter to go to Army flight school...on a text message. Think the board will accept it? What a douche. Offer officially retracted.

Wow. That one goes in my "record book."

Thanks for my early-morning of the day!

Dilbert, for today, is not inappropriate. I can relate to Dilbert's point.

Read this book:

Of course, that would probably require an understanding of punctuation.

Then he's my looney hero!! I love a guy like that who's inventive as heck and a risk taker. Plus he has more lives than a Cheshire cat!!

Those new toons are way more sophisticated than the old ones. Gives 3 dimensional imaging a whole new perspective in the comic world.
