Im not sure if this is the right place to ask , but I have a 1984 cutlass supreme brougham, 2dr. I am in need of the wiper/washer (pulse) unit for the car. I have found the "standard" unit in rebuilt condition, but not the
(pulse) , or intermittent , unit.
If anyone can steer me to a source I'd appreciate it. I've checked all the local junkyards ( I hate that name for olds cars) with no luck. I've also e-mailed several sources further out with no luck.I'm in Tampa fl area.
thanks

By unit, do you mean the wiper motor? Or the column controls? Not sure what you're looking for, but I came up with this--
Column switch w/delay- tilt wheel p/n 7843683. Lists for $227.00 from GM. I've seen them around for $95-100 or so if you search D1920D on ebay.
GM sells a remanufactured CD4 (pulse) wiper motor under AC Delco p/n 19179659 for list price of around $176. Search around for your best prices. It's roughly about $100-125 give or take from other sources. It appears it includes the park switch too.
NAPA sells them rebuilt under p/n RAY 49175 for a tad under $75. (add 10 core charge)
Cover assembly with the brains to control the pulse and holds the windshied washer motor is no longer available. When it was, it was around $80-100 It was under p/n 22039684. You can search other sources. I saw what was claimed to be one on ebay, but it wasn't correct. Right part number, wrong part. Either way, I don't think it comes with the cam and I can't seem to find a part number for it. You'll likely need to swap the cams on the cover unit. They're usually light blue or black.
The washer motor is p/n 22049373. They're around $25 from rockauto.com and cheaper on ebay. Remember to reuse your old donut gasket seal. I don't know if new pumps come with one. The older GM parts did.
When replacing the cover, I highly suggest this video for some good advice. It's a Firebird, but the same exact p/n used.
Hope that helps you out.

Sounds like your park switch remaining energized, so it MIGHT be in the circuit board/cover assembly. If so, that's not going to be an easy part to find.
If the wipers are working in all the modes other than actually stopping, then it seems the column switch is likely to be working ok as well. I have heard from a guy at work who had an 88 CSC that his column switch was cracked and wouldn't shut off the wipers. I didn't see the damaged part, but that could be a lead?
You're going to need someone with some electrical experience here on this one.

I have to check the books to see where the control is for the delay. I may have wiper motor in my storage unit, I will have to dig.

from what I saw in a video that I was sent to , the "relay" in the electrical diagram is in the "cover" on the back of the motor gear housing. It seems to be a cam operated switch setup. I will remove the entire assembly before I open up the cover because in my car the space is a little tight. I've already disconnected everything but the motor wires so the rest will be much easier. I'm sure that somewhere out there I will find an entire used unit if nothing else. The circuit board for the "delay " setup is also in the cover, and having been in electronics for many years it's just possible I could fix that too.
anyway thanks for all the help.If any more comments I'll keep this placein mind.

concerning the video on youtube that I watched, it appears that the "cam" that controls the on/off signal, does anyone know what the "name" and the p/n might be ?? obviously the part must have been available at some time in the past, as the video is an example on a 1987 trans-am, but when the video was made I don't know , likely in the 90's maybe ??

Thinking about it, notice in the vid that the cam was already in place. I'm thinking the cam is part of the cover/circuit board package and not like the older ones. This is why the cam isn't listed separately or mentioned in the illustration catalog.
The "cam" ( the blue thing) shown in the video is in fact in the "cover" on the back of the wiper/washer unit , and is/was available in the past , since the guy said he had broken two of them in the process of changing it, which is why he made that video, to warn others of the problem he had, (replacing the cam wrong) What I don't know is why he had to replace that cam unless he may have had the same problem I have now , ie: the wipers won't shut off. I haven't yet opened mine up but There is good chance that is my problem too. The unit he had in his car is in fact identical to mine, so I'd guess there's an even chance
I can fix it if I can find the cam. All I need is a valid P/N, but the parts houses today don't have the info they used to have years ago. ( computers, you know, no books anymore)
well I'll just keep looking . I do know that the wipers will work on hi speed even with
the connector removed from the "cover".
If anyone has info on the p/n for that cam I'd like to know. Otherwise I'll have to dig further in the "used parts emporiums "
