One Monkee left
A trivia tidbit that some may not know is that his mother was the Dallas secretary that invented Liquid Paper. Of course there are probably some on here that never heard of Liquid Paper. RIP Michael.

I can't believe nobody has posted anything about the Monkeymobile.

I think he felt like they were taken advantage of by the system. So common back then. Look at how many of our favorite 50's 60's 70's 80's and before artist's got nothing.
My Girl's close close friend was one of the daughters in The Sound of Music. She get's nothing. Check for twenty bucks here and there.
Peace To Michael Nesmith and all of his family. He passed amongst family and friends. That is a blessing.

Mike was the only Monkey who would not autograph this Monkeymobile. Rather peculiar.

I’m the youngest of 5 by far, born the same year as my car. I rolled off the assembly line 4 days after my car was originally purchased at the dealership. Anyway, my older sibs all wanted to name me after Monkee members. Indeed my first name can be easily derived from Davey Jones and middle name from Michael Nesmith and/or Mickey Dolenz. Anywho…my earliest TV memories included the Monkees, but I was really into a show called The Banana Splits and of course the original Batman with Adam West.
I think Mike wanted to disassociate himself from the Monkees as quickly as possible. It was more important to him to be a legitimate musician than on a dopey tv show. I am a huge fan of the show though and the music. I never looked up his solo work, i gotta say that elephant parts song is straight awful.
Thanks for this thread. Mike & Dolenz were just here in Mpls. on Nov. 9th. Mickey later said Mike was determined to finish the tour even though he was not in good health. Just a few years ago, he had quadruple heart bypass surgery.
My favorite song of theirs is Shades of Gray. In my opinion, their most serious, poignant song they ever did. Check it out on you-tube.
RIP Mike.
