OCA is Corrupt

I am mad as hell!
Zone director Ken William leaked to members that he called the attoney general to complain about OCA votes. This election was 3 years ago. Friggin yancy tells his puppet to investigate 3 years later?
Ken also just voted to keep yancys name on a 242,000 account.
What a bunch of corrupt SOB's. Hope they get what the deserve.

My dad (Oldsguy) and I were members of OCA when I was in college (many years ago). The folks in the chapter around Kansas City were friendly enough; however, that was where my dad and I met the infamous, nefarious guy with the red beard. We regret the day that happend.

Oh he knows.

My father-in-law is obsessed with a certain politician, bringing him up totally out of the blue in just about any conversation, and blaming him for anything and everything under the sun. That includes the weather.

One time when he did actually bring said politician up in order to blame him for the weather, I said "heck, blame (him) for everything". He looked at me with his sad, rheumy eyes and responded, "I'm serious". Indeed he was, and I backed away from him slowly at that, as one might back away from a rabid dog.

You guys who keep bringing this sh...stuff up remind me of my father-in-law and other people like him who can't find something else to talk about (from your post history, you obviously can't). I really think it is a form of mental illness.

I am damn glad I am not your father-in-law and I for damn sure am not mentally ill. I have very few post in the OCA thread and could care less what they do. I owe you no explanation. I sure hope this crap is not resurrected. This is a thread started by a new member who has 10 posts.

Seems like this club just brings out the best in everyone.

I've seen enough in these pages to say: I'm still glad I've never been a member.

Carry on.

Mellow off, dude....yes, I responded to your post, but that doesn't mean I was talking about you (re-reading what I wrote, seems pretty obvious I wasn't). You told the original poster (who my post was directed to) about that other thread, where the vast majority of his other posts already reside. I still say he's a nutter.

I did re-read you post and still can take it as you were talking about both of us ("you guys keep bringing this up"), BUT I did go back and read the 10 post the originator of this thread had and see that they were all about OCA. While I am not going to apologize since I don't feel one is necessary I will accept the fact your post was not intended for me. I hope this is the end of this thread and we have no additional post about OCA. It has been better without the OCA and ROP noise. And by the way, I am a very mellow guy.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater here.

I've been a member for many years, and I'd say the benefits far outweigh the negatives, if there really are any negatives that filter down to the member level. It's not very expensive to be a member in the grand scheme of things, I enjoy the monthly magazine, and through the OCA I became a member of a local chapter and made many good friendships that have lasted many years.

For whats its worth Aliens post did not look in any way directed to you IMO. By "you guys" he was meaning the OP and the others that were here to stir the pot.

Thanks for reading this with an unbiased third set of eyes Richard. As always, I value your input and therefore offer my apology to Aliens. Aliens, I am sorry. Now let's all move on.

I can't move on!

Seriously, I was going to post again earlier today, then decided against it. Figured it was over and done with. But since it is once again "topical"...

I did not expect or even want an apology. It was a misunderstanding. I can see how the "you guys" wording could have led to confusion. But its no big deal. The important thing is we can all agree the O.P., like my father-in-law, is a nutter!

By the way, the "mellow off" bit was from the movie "Better off dead", when the dad is trying to sound cool talking to his son and reading from a book on slang.

When trying to find the relevant clip (which I could not find), I ran across a youtube story to the effect that David Ogden Stiers (who played the dad character) came out as gay a couple years back. I only bring that up to point out the improbable confluence of factors that would have led me to dicovering that factoid I otherwise may never have known.

Of course all this is unrelated to the original topic, but hey, that's a good thing.

OK, I found it. Not the ideal source (due to idiots talking in the background), but you can see what I was thinking from 11:40-12:40 here:

Years ago, I heard a cool story about the 69 Camaro in that film; a fan of the film set out to buy it, and actually succeeded. He started by reading the credits carefully and calling people involved with the production. He restored it to its appearance in the film.

Well Rich61star you are consistent. Since the process in the OCA has run it's course, one would need to wait for the next election to start the process over again.

I myself don't personally see
why anyone who wanted to
know anything about our beloved
Oldsmobile marque would consider
any site other than CO.

That being said, I am sure that over
the years, there has been A LOT more
discussed over at the older sites.

Government and politics have screwed up
more than just a few civic organizations.

However, here we have the breakdown
in each forum for all to discuss, right or
wrong, it is civilized for the most part.
When things start to go sideways, it gets
amusing at most. not too much namecalling
as it were. I believe that respect for each other,
and some help from the mods, this site will continue
to grow and become the premier site for Oldsmobile.

My bad!

Saw the movie in the theatre in the winter of 1985 (I think). I would have been 19. Remains a fav. to this day. Haven't seen it in a while though, only excuse I can offer for mixing up the year of the Camaro.

You guys don't have to log onto the thread. It clearly stated something about OCA in the title which should have set off the light bulb for some of you.

It is Oldsmobile related and in the Clubhouse so get over it. The guy has 11 posts, so what.

My sources say Mestad has resigned and that Williams will not run in 2014.

Now's the time for some of you who have pissed and moaned so loud to step up and correct all the wrongs the current administration has committed. Nomination process is simple enough.

Though I suspect it will be like it was when I stepped down as ZD. Then-president accused me of leaving and not finding anyone to replace me (didn't know that was my responsibility, but I had talked to several people about it before leaving). The seven qualified people I asked about it said, to the one, "not as long as the current OCA president is in office". I suspect you'd get much the same reaction now.

When I was ZD a lot of people I'd meet would fawn and fall all over themselves because they had met the ZONE director! Big deal- that title shouldn't have meant anything to anyone outside the OCA and even then should have been construed simply as someone who was working to promote Oldsmobile and establish club support for Olds owners and enthusiasts in the area the Zone covered.

I think that's the big thing wrong with the current administration. They want people to think they're somebody and to try to impose their will on everyone else. I've noticed that many on the OCA Board seem to think the board should vote in lockstep on everything, which is a sure way to send the organization down the tubes. Devil's advocates and dissent are healthy for a group since it forces it to think things thru before acting.

And many seem to have forgotten it's a car club, established to promote and recognize Oldsmobiles in the car hobby, and not a personal fiefdom.

Eh la.

Dont know why some are pissed cause i bring up the corruption in the oca. i made some calls and the vice president stepped down after a vote to keep crowdes and yancy in control of the $243,000 cd passed.
them texans vote to keep yancy in control of the money. how is that not corrupt. I heard that the 2 zone directors from texas, the 2 yancy puppets from florida and the corrupt head judge all voted with crowdes to keep the money controlled by him and yancy and not OCA board members.
I dont trust these guys so I sent a email to Dave Console to confirm this but he is not returning my emails. I think he is stll upset that we made too much noise about this.

Look closely, this poster is Starfire using a different source to post. Why did he do this, no one knows. But still the topic is relevant to all concerned about what is happening. There are predictions that OCA will cease to be a club because of posts like this that keep stirring up crap. Please let it go and next election do something about it.

If true, it is certainly consistent with my mental illness theory. And in my opinion, should be grounds for being banned from the forum. Both "personalities".

I don't believe the OCA itself is corrupt but that certain individuals are putting THEMSELVES and THEIR FRIENDS ahead of the Club and membership.

Its an absolute shame this is occurring all because of the actions of a few.

Terry Olson has resigned as Zone director and yes the largest reason was the latest vote to keep yancy on as a signatory on the 247,000 CD, somehow the board has voted this way even though it is clearly a violation of the bilaws, they just keep doing what they want to do, no matter what.
The Bi-laws state that the treasurer and a current OCA board member must be the signatories, not an ex-president, so right there the board has failed to serve the members of the OCA with clear viloations of the bi-laws.
The board is split and I was told that it is impossible to reach any settlements or make any changes becasue of the current status.
It is a sad time when the Vice President and a popular Zone director feel that they have no choice but to resign, These reasons are the same reasons that the GMO chapter pulled out of the 2015 nationals.
The members now need to stand up and force the board to hear our arguments and demands for change.

It seems I have made a mistake about this poster being Starfire. I thought the sig pictures were the same as his. Now there are no pics associated with his posts so I apologize to Rich for this blunder.

OCA corrupt? Get outta town...haha. Who'd have thunk it. That's yesterday's news actually.

I'm not sure of all the particulars about what went down with the certificate of deposit, but I think they goofed that up from the start by putting someone's name on the CD instead of setting it up like a corporation, OCA President & Treasurer (whomever that may be at the time of maturity).

It's quite possible that instead of changing names on the CD, bank policies may have cost a fee to change all that up and it might be cheaper to keep it as is? I don't know, I wasn't there. Just thinking about alternative explanations is all.

Not saying that's the only thing wrong with the OCA, but there's usually a rhyme and reason for everything. But when good folks start migrating out of there, something's rotten in Denmark. No worries for me though. After being a member for a very long time, I think I'm just going to let my membership lapse the next go round. At least until they show me they know what they're doing. So I'm outta there.

Does anyone know what state the the OCA is incorporated?

I checked the Club website and ByLaws but didn't see it mentioned.

Sounds like time to send a letter to the applicable Attorney General to express concerns for possible impropriety as mentioned somewhere in a thread here or another forum.
