Unhappy not Olds related but...

Been a lousy weekend in the Powell household. Took our dog to the vet on Friday for what we thought was a possible UTI. Turned out to be cancer on her bladder, spleen and liver. So after a long weekend of saying our good-byes, this morning my family and I had to put my best friend for the last 15 years to sleep. She might have been my youngest son's dog (we got her when he had just turned two), but she might as well have been my daughter. Good night Trixie. A better dog and friend I've never had.

My wife and I went through the very same thing several years ago with our beloved Maggie. I had not cried that much since my mother died. They become part of your family and it hurts when you lose them. People that are not dog lovers just don't understand. My condolences to you and your family. RIP Trixie.

I can commiserate. We had to put our dog down last October. He was also a beagle, and he was just over 15 years old. Too many systems failing on him for the doctors to do anything.

His favorite perch. On the couch. Guarding his chew toy.

I understand your pain, pets are family! I have been through it a couple of times. One of them was a dog I used to sit for since it was a pup. That dog went with me when it was not sitting time. It would run out the owners house when it seen me and then sit next to my car door and then the pouty face would come when I tell her it's no time to go. I cried for 3 days and it was not even my dog, but a very trusty friend!

So sorry for your loss. Our last was a 16 yr. old Golden Retriever, Star. We got her when the youngest boy was a yr. old. One of the hardest things to do is putting a pet down. They are family.

Yes...Sorry indeed. We lost Toots last year. 17 years old.

Here, she watched my youngest daughter walk out to the car and drive away.

Dogs should have the same life span as people.

Hard to loose a family member. They are very precious. Our little 8 year old **** zu was diagnosed with cancer December 2018. My wife and I did everything we could to get him better. High end doctors, the whole bit. 30 thousand dollars later he was given a 100% all clear 3 weeks ago. My brother thought I was nuts spending that kind of money. Put a huge dent in our funds. I said to him I can have money in the bank or love in my heart. I chose Love. If by the grace of god he is with us for another 5 years, it will have been worth every penny.
My sincere condolences on your loss.
Mike

Sorry for your loss, what a cute dog. I feel your pain, went through the same thing with my best friend Rocky, 7 year old lab mix. Treated for a UTI for about 4 months and finally found out it was bladder cancer in August. Put him down on 11/13, can't seem to get over it yet.

I have had to make that trip to the vet far too many times. It’s never easy. Life is too short.

Sorry for your loss.

We also had to put Echo our 16 year old beagle down this past summer, caner in hips. She earned her name
