New Ugliest Truck Ever
#6
Styling on all new trucks is too overwrought and busy. GM seems to be worst about it.
But that thing in the opening post, I think is a bridge too far.
I do not get the obsession with styling vehicles to look like cartoons, robots, or badly drawn mecha anime characters. I just don't.

That Ford looks like a character from animated movie franchise “Cars.”
When Ford made the Escort without a grille, they redesigned and added one and sold crap loads with them, same with VW and the Passat.

I'm glad that truck in the OP's post is a Rivian. I was going to have to lie and make a comment about plebeians not appreciating fine art. Just to defend the honor of Ford. It is an ugly truck.

Amazon owns ~ 18% stake, because they want a partner for electric delivery vehicles.
Ford owns less than 12%, and has publicly said (Nov-'21) they are no longer co-developing anything with Rivian.

Truck's stopped looking good in the late 90's there I said it. All new trucks are aimed at guys who need to haul a few bags of mulch and need a skirt puller and ladder to get into the bed.

I borrowed a friends GMC recently to pick up some trees. I just about needed a step ladder to get into the back, seriously they bever needed to be that high before. Somehow car styles that at first I didn't like grow on me over time. Some never do, like cars that are missing the grille.

Park my 93 and 08 F150s side by side with tailgates down and the 08 is 6 inches higher from the ground than the 93. Both longbed standard cab 4WD. I've never looked that close at 15-later but I'd about bet those are higher than the 08.
There's a reason pickups have steps in the rear bumper corners and that ridiculous-*** GMC tailgate.

On that tailgate that you didn't like...I was up in the air as to whether I would like it. I have to say...it's a amazing once you use it and see all the functionality it provides. It's so much nicer when climbing into the bed of the truck than using the steps in the bumper. That is now one of my fav features in the new truck. I've had allot of GM trucks over the years and this one is top of the hill by far!
It's a beast......but love the lift kit and the colors....
Front end is super cool.....
Added my own rugged running boards to ease entry/exit.
