New OCA recall petition
Very well written.
Seems like Mr. Roberts has put down in writing what many of us are thinking.
Somewhere, perhaps ROP, it was mentioned that one OCA BOD has only attended ONE Board meeting over the past TEN YEARS. Does anyone recall which BOD member that was?
Granted he may have provided his proxy, in effect allowing another BOD to vote on his behalf, but the purpose of being a member of the BOD is to participate; to be a benefit to the Club. How can you really do that if you aren't attending the ONE annual Board meeting?
I am on the National Board of another major marque club and their Constitution stipulates if you want to be on the Board, you must plan to attend all Board meetings (two per year). If you miss more than 2 during a two year term without good cause, it is reason for consideration of removal.
As for Bonnie, she may have lost her house, belongs and had her life upended but it has now been five months, she should be in communication at this point. Unless she can provide a really good reason, IMO her continued non-participation indicates that she doesn't have the time to continue in her position and she should resign from the OCA BOD.

1700 signatures doesn't make a majority of the 5500 or so members of OCA. It is sad that more members do not care enough to vote for leadership, just like in a national election. I'll say this, if you could poll every member of OCA about how things are going, there would be over 50% that don't care. Like I said, they want to show their cars and have fun. So the hate mongers lost this time, they will get another opportunity at next election to get the candidate of their choice put in office.
The hate mongers are the members who lost the last election and are still crying about it, far as the membership in whole, I personally recieved phone calls from different zone directors letting me know about the recall notice and why it was happening, I was asked to help spread the word, and every zone officers Job was to get the word out to the general membership, I am sure the ASE zone directors and the other directors who supported Crowdis worked real hard at reaching out to their members with this action, I'll bet if they had, more members would have signed the recall forms, once they heard the reasons behind it!!
New or not, richstar66 hit the nail right on the head! I, for one am grateful for the info. I don't care if he's new or not. If we got a BOD member who doesn't go to any meetings...DUMP HIM!!! C'mon guys, we can change this, it's not "rocket science". My understanding of Ms. Fochi's position is that she did not want to commit herself to a vote. I heard she first threw out an excuse about having to go into the hospital for surgury or something. Then...that she forgot or didn't want to send a vote and missed the deadline. Then the deadline was extended, still she failed to vote. It's pathetic, this whole thing is pathetic! Look at the head judge deal...if it's secret he will vote yes? How would we know that he did vote yes, if it's a secret ballot? Why would he want a secret ballot anyways? Some of these BOD peeps are weasels, some work very hard for us. Personally...I'm starting to wonder about Jerry Wilson now, too. I voted for him. I think I would like to see MASSIVE change now. The members can dump the zone directors they dislike, we can dump the treasurer. The head judge is appointed...we can't dump him if Jerry doesn't.
I would say, yes he is new to OC. He has only 6 posts. Others that post are very new to the site too. Seems all that are on here for is to spew hatred and lies about the getting the treasurer recalled not to actually enjoy having or driving their Oldsmobiles.
Hell yes, thank God that the rules saved us from Jerry Wilson and if they would have only saved us from Gene Crowdis.
If you win a seat, your first assignment, from the past Zone director who did the most to develop the ASE Zone, will be to have a chapter covering MS and AL up and running and chartered by the end of your first term. That was the only area in the Zone I was unable to develop during the ten years I was on the BOD. There weren't many members there and distances between them made it hard to have an organized group. In the age of internet, I daresay an internet based group like Aleromod could work well in that part of the South.
It can be done. The guy I replaced had been dicking around for over ten years trying to start a chapter in NC. Within a year after I took the ASE Zone director spot, NC had an OCA chapter. Within five years that chapter had hosted a Zone show and a Nationals.
It unfortunately fell apart due to personal crises a lot of the active members went thru, but I think it could probably be restarted easy enough.
I offer the same challenge to the rest of you who aren't happy with what your Zone people have done. Run for a Zone director or National officer slot.

I dont understand why adding a chapter where there are not many members would be more pressing than the issues at hand today.
People can be new to CO and still be long time members of the OCA...like myself! Right now...this is the only place to get any info or make any comments or suggestions to improve the situation. The GMO club is voting now regarding the 2015 Nats in MA, I can pretty well assure you they will drop the Nats. I'll bet the OCA loses at least a few 100 members this year. I'm guessing the GMO club will also opt out of the OCA if there are no changes after the next election. Right, we all just want to show our Olds and have fun. Why should we pay membership to the OCA if it's all messed up? It's like throwing money down a hole. Why not just join for one year if you want to show your car? I NEVER thought like that before, but that's what I'm thinking now.
[Why was Yancy, Kosomo & Crowdis threating Consoli? I heard he stumbled upon finiancial irregularites 2 years ago and has been threatend 3 times.]
[emails circulation with samples of Pat Yancey's printer comparisons to the MIN letters? Most of us are not so naive that we don't know who is behind this]
[Mr. Yancey and now information is circulation that he or his wife is writing the MIN letters.]
If these quotes aren't backed up by facts, how can they not be considered lies or hate comments? I have no facts just as no one else has facts to backup their statements.

If I'm not mistaken, this rule has partly changed, and it is no longer necessary to be a member of the OCA to show your car at a Nationals. The difference is that your car will not be judged if you are not an OCA member. For some that will matter, but for others, it will not.
Folks, it seems to me the facts are now out there, and they are not going to change. It is time to for all to let nature takes it course. In this instance that would be letting the current terms of office expire, and then speak your piece at the next election?
As others have said quite eloquently, "get the drama out." It hurts, not helps, in my opinion.
The best solution is to cast an educated ballot in the next election?

Guess I should have found this thread sooner.
There is something that doesn't make sense to me. I've read all 35 pages of that document. Mr. Konsmo was supportive of Mr. Crowdis. Why would he support him, and then vote for removal? Why would Mr. Konsmo disclose how he would vote when requesting a private ballot?
Pete, the challenge to all was to quit bitching about it and do something constructive for the club. Sorry for being arcane.
All the talk of taking vengeance on the directors who didn't vote the way people thought they should have voted has become tiresome. I shudder to think of that group voting in lockstep since that could just as easily take OCA in a direction it shouldn't go as what's happening now.

My zone director didn't vote at all even though I sent her e-mails urging her to do so. I'm not a member of a local OCA chapter anymore since the most "local" chapter is over two hours away. I've stayed a member of the OCA for the last 3 years for the monthly magazine.
It's sad that ANYBODY within the OCA management is bitching, complaining, being an obstructionist, or anything . It's a friggen VOLUNTEER organization. In hindsight I personally think this whole thing could have waited until the elections but I'm not a member of the management staff of the OCA so it's not my place to criticize.
Once these old farts get done their pi$$ing battle, I might rejoin.... if the OCA still exists!
How is this not politics, which is supposedly banned on this site? No, its not national politics, but it has all the same disgusting characteristics. I saw the same thread posted on realoldspalaver (now dead), AACA (thread shut down with extreme prejudice before the discussion even got started), and here. Those posting this crap ad nauseum are doing their club a disservice. Me, I'm a lost cause, wouldn't join even IF it was the only only way to show my car at a national event (did that once in fact, let my membership lapse after 1 year). But dozens of other new lost causes are created every day I bet because of this publicly aired dirty laundry (not to mention old members who've decided they've had enough). I frankly don't care very much what becomes of the OCA, but the people bringing this up again and again here and elsewhere on the net must care even less. You lost. Go get em next time, or fricken get over it.

OCA is devoted to the preservation of Oldsmobile, last time I checked this was an Olds Forum. We keep bringing it up because we care about it.
The only disservice that is being done is that of people that try to bring the club to shame and not follow rules and law of said club.
You don't need to read the thread if you don't like it. Move on to another thread when you see the title. You have already stated that you don't care about OCA so just don't read the thread.

Have fun running your club further into the ground.
1. If their club is being mismanaged, it is their responsibility to try to fix it, which it sounds as though they are doing.
2. I have seen only one post in this thread that has mentioned politics, and it was posted at 08:42 today.

Ok...I just got a confirmation, the 2015 OCA NATS in Marlboro MA has been cancelled. Even though our club has a ton of time invested + 2K, we have voted to withdraw. It seems to be a smart move for us, seeing as we can't be sure that the treasurer or OCA will help with expenses. Our confidence to continue at this point is zero.
Although I am not a member of the OCA for reasons expressed earlier in this post, I do feel saddened that this organisation cannot for many reasons get it's crap together. I for one am shocked that the people whom most have been talking about, have not come forward on CO to explain some of the accusations that have been expressed here. I can only hope that the masses who want to see the OCA survive can accomplish this task.
I don't mind reading about this on our forum because it is representitive of our hobby. However, just complaining here does not accomplish a lot. So my advise for those who wish the OCA will survive, is to work within the bylaws, get involved, and try and change the direction in which it needs to go so it can be a viable success.

I've already been in discussion with persons from other Chapters on strategies to get this accomplished. All legal, above board, within the By Laws and Constitution.
Remembering back to the first Nats I attended in E Lansing circa 1982. I was still in high school but a longtime family friend had just finished resto of his 47 Olds and was showing it for the first time. Wasn't a member yet but a couple of us went up there to check out the cars in the show and were hooked - plus found lots of NOS parts for the 59 98 I was restoring.
Best of all got to sit and talk with Russ Yoder, (I think) past OCA Pres and one of the founders or early members of the Club. Kept in touch with him by mail for quite a time afterwards when I moved out of state. Super nice guy; helpful, friendly, even to 'a kid' - exactly what the Club was about. The b.s. going on now is enough to get your blood boiling.
One more thing - with some of these power hungry Board members gone next year, the By Laws and/or Constitution can hopefully be reviewed to see what changes or additions need to be made to SPELL OUT specific powers and authorities (safe guards) to prevent situations from like from occurring again.

I do feel it is incumbent on this in the know with regard to the background info of what lead up to the cancellation to apprise those who have no idea what has been going on. This is critical to the casting of an educated vote in the upcoming election!
I use to be a member but dropped out a year ago. I feel there is no good reason for canceling a national meet. All they are doing is punishing people from that area or who were going to attend. Way to much drama for me. Good luck. Ken
It also send a clear message of displeasure with the BOD.
I personally wouldn't want to deal with the Treasurer knowing his track record. Why would they want to put on a National Meet if they are potentially not going to reimbursed for holding it. The chapter does not want to lose money on the event.
It also send a clear message of displeasure with the BOD.

I will predict that there will be a significant number of positions open on the Board at the next election. The majority of people have enough melodrama going on in their own lives without a car club spilling over into it. I think the real challenge is going to be to find enough people to step up and run, who will take the best interests of the club to heart, and THEN, it will be imperitive that the members VOTE for their directors and officers of their choosing. After that is done, the course of the OCA will have been decided. (Keep in mind the MIN(member information network, what a joke) will be overactive in attemping to sway your vote) That would be the time to pull on the Nats and/or drop your membership, or continue to support the duly elected officers, IMHO.
Somewhere in this thread someone criticized Jerry Wilson for trying to "recruit" like-minded individuals to run for election next time around. Do you really believe "the other group" is doing anything less?? I think not. Only time will tell how this plays out.
One last point. There has been a motion to call for a full audit of the OCA financial records. It has been seconded, and I believe is in the discussion stage. As an OCA member you should voice your opinion (hopefully support) of this motion. Ne matter which side of the recall you were on, an audit will 1) exonerate Gene (OCA Treasurer), 2) prove there was wrongdoing on his part, or 3) confirm that the OCA finances have adequate controls and proper supervision. Maybe it will determine that there is some of all of this. Push for the Audit.
Haven't waded into this pile of excrement till now, but....
I've known Gene Crowdus for many years. A couple of local Olds enthusiasts and myself began the NTOC in 1986. Gene was one of our first members. He's always been the first one to volunteer to take care of things, he's done an amazing amount of work in helping to raise money for charities, he's been Treasurer of our club several times, and there has never been even the SLIGHTEST bit of impropriety in his handling of the club's finances. indeed, under his guidance our club has prospered and always remained financially viable.
I read the 35 page synopsis of the case against Gene. I personally did not see anything in there so awful, so criminal, so diabolical that would warrant the endless debate, diversion of focus, and negative feelings this debacle has generated. Clubs puling out of the Nats for this? It's hard enough attracting new members for a discontinued brand and based on the comments of a lot of non OCA members, all this is making it harder to grow, or hell even maintain our membership levels.
The membership elected Gene. A recall procedure was initiated, followed, and the recall was not affirmed. There is another election coming. Vote him out if you want (if he even intends to run again), but, for the good of our club, enough already.
Flame away if you want - I don't care anymore.
