The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Merry Christmas John. Stay safe.
Happy Friday all.
Crzyjef, You haul, I'll load.
It's funny, The ski areas didn't get any of this. I think they maybe got an inch out of this storm. Usually when we get a big snow in Denver, it curls up from down south and the upslope squeezes the moisture out on us.
Gonna be cold the next few days, only a little above freezing, so it looks like its gonna stick around for a while.
Hope everyone stays safe & warm.

Wow. The snow looks fun when I'm not in it. I grew up in Illinois and have had my fill of the stuff.
A couple years ago I was in Denver visiting my best friend, and we woke up to about a foot of snow. I called a friend of mine back home(Georgia) and he said it was 80 and he was doing yard work! I said you're killing me!
Christmas is a non-event for me this year. I'm working both days and have no one around to spend time with, so it will just be me and the dogs. That's fine with me. Hope everyone is enjoying the season!

Morning All and Happy Friday!
Merry Christmas to you also, John!! Have safe travels and enjoy!!
It's in the 30's here with some light rain/snow mix coming down. Not freezing though. Sure would be nice to see the sun.
Glad it's Friday. It's been a long week! We're hoping they let us out at noon today!!! As quiet as it is, I don't see why they won't.
We had a nice dinner last evening. Larry got steak and told them not to put that fancy stuff on it that they use, lol. I had a grilled chicken breast which was very juicy and tender and good!!! I even had a Holiday martini, lol!
First drink I've had in over a year. It was a nice night.
Well you all have a good day, and if any of ya are traveling, be safe out there! There was hardly any traffic on 91 this morning! I think a lot of places are shut down.
Mike..... you're welcome to spend Christmas with your CO family here, lol!

Afternoon All!
Well...... got a nice surprise today! We got our paychecks early instead of on the 30th as is the usual schedule. And inside of mine was a nice $500 bonus check!
That's in addition to the Christmas bonus the owner gave everyone at Thanksgiving! I called payroll to make sure I was really supposed to get this because the guys did not get one (neener neener neener....) and she said yes, the owner gave all of us "non commissioned" employees a bonus because the sales guys get their commissions every month! Isn't that great?? I'm happy as a pig in shi*, lol!
This will really help replenish what I've spent on Christmas!!
I've been calling around to see about getting Nicole in for consultations for getting her wisdom teeth out..... so far just the consultation fees are out of this world! Used to not cost anything to have them look. Times have changed.......
Jamesbo.... I feel your pain, lol! It's always somethin!!!!

As fun as that sounds, James, I think I'll stick around here. I'm working Saturday and Sunday nights anyway what fun would I be.
Gal, I'll probably look at CO about twenty times over the weekend.
Sunny and about 55 here in the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area. Gonna go chop some firewood.

Morning all, well they are calling for rain tonight so a wet xmas but I will wait and see in the morning for myself, the weather people around here aren't to good if you ask me
Sandy you should just tell that whinny baby to dress for the weather or move to Florida and he can wear all the tee shirts he wants

Hope Larry can fix the furnace without any problems. Good for you with the bonus, they are always nice
John would be cool to catch up with you and Jamesbo for some southern cooking but I am a little far away
and I have to work on the 28th

The new job should settle down before long
Pat sounds like you are having a similar xmas as me, I am going over to the in-laws for lunch and a friend is coming over for dinner so nice and quiet for us too. I don't much like xmas now I have grown up but Minette sure is looking forward to it
Clint I will swap you, as I didn't grow up with snow I love it. Only seen snow when I went to New Zealand on a ski holiday and I loved it.
I found what I want for xmas, it is The world's rarest automobile: a 1954 Concept Old's Rocket F88 - the only one in existence

It sold at auction for $3,240,000 see pics

Have a safe and merry christmas everyone

That's it? It sold at Barrett a couple years ago for over 4M. What auction was at sold at most recently?
The F88 would be an excellent car to recreate. It's absolutely beautiful.

Had the shock of my life (so far). I'm 54 and was at a restaurant with a friend. I'm not sure if I should be mad (because I'm vain) or glad (because I'm cheap). I paid for lunch and the 20 something girl behind the cash register said she made a mistake when she rang up the bill. She then preceeded to adjust the price and gave me 10% off for the senior discount!!
OK, I'm not 20 anymore, but really, do I look 65!
Hypothetical question...no answer required.

Clear and kinda chilly *****,
Mike you're gonna have to cut and sell a ton of fire wood to be able to get dat F88, Maybe Sandy could pitch in sum of her Christmas bonus.
I would help ya out but, I' temporarly financially embarressed. [Wanta buy a Green Cemetery lot?]
Welp,
Bought 10 lbs. of Green Beans at de stow yesterday. Suns not up yet. Let's see if my Super Model can snap 10 lbs. of green beans so I can cook dem befo lunch. It's gonna be a close one.
Pat tanks fer de tip. Got HOT H2O dis mawn'in.
John, I got a funeral on Wednesday @ 2:30. I'm on fer our Dillard house diner on Thursday. You pick de time. [Fer all y'all who can spell Zamboni w/o look'in it up Dinner=lunch in de south]
Now, Don't ya'll find it kinda odd dat dis cracker ain't met no one from CO cept'in Jeffery [From Miami a thousand miles away] and Adrian [5 thousand miles away] and den John from New Orleans.
[ a fer piece too]
I'll bet a dollar to a dounut, I meet Pat [from de left coast] before Scot er Mike in my own back yard.

I stand corrected. That is the auction I was referring to. I thought it went over 4M. Well, 3.2M ain't too shabby.
Merry Christmas everyone. Gonna be a nice day here so I think I'll go do some yardwork.
Mike
Wishing everyone a safe and very Merry Christmas. Today looks like it is gonna turn out alright weather wise after all but I'm not holding my breath

I can't believe you have to get a consultation before they will ripe out a wisdom tooth Sandy. Over here you ring up your local dentist and tell them you need a wisdom tooth pulled, they x-ray it and out it comes. Mine cost me around $150 each
Good to hear from you bulldog, hope you are still feeling better.
It's nearly 8am here and Minette still hasn't opened any presents
I think it is time

Have a wonderful day ya'll

Evening All!
Sitting here watching It's A Wonderful Life. I love this movie!! Got up at 6:30 this morning and boiled eggs and got some cleaning done before goin to Lin's. Took a while for me to load everything into Tincanio for everyone. Seems like I had 50 bags of stuff, lol! Nicole was here after 12, and we headed up to Lin's.
Sister Jean and her daughter showed up after 3, and we had pizza, and swedish meatballs, and veggies and dip, and cheese and crackers. Then we opened our gifts. I got a couple gift cards, a pair of earrings, some wall pictures, some cute Christmas towels with snowmen on them, some cookies, a 20 lb. bag of birdseed from my nephew, lol, a wax warmer thing with a beautiful Cardinal on it and 3 packs of scented wax, and my best gift.... a sweatshirt that says Cutlass on it, lol!

Lin must have got it at the Olds show.
We got home going on 8 and loaded Nicole's stuff into the Intrigue. She left and I made the deviled eggs for tomorrow, went in and took a bath, and sat my tired butt down! Santa Sandy is whipped!!!
The best thing that happened today was Jean won $100.00 on the $5 holiday scratch off I put in her stocking!!!!
I haven't seen a hundred dollar winner in years, lol!! Hope mine is as lucky tomorrow when I scratch it! I put tickets in everyone's stockings each year, and this is the first time someone has won over 10 bucks. I was really happy - she needs the money!! She couldn't believe it.
I took a picture of the ticket, lol.
She's coming down for dinner tomorrow. Nicole is going to join us, guess Dave is going to his folks house and Linda is going to Tina's. I think Jr. and his daughter is coming.
Well I better get off here, so you all have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

And thanks to all my *New Good morning Thread* friends for mak'in CO such a fun place.
note to self, You're tak'in de perfect attendance award WAY too seriously.
Pat, My stepson gave me a Zippo lighter for my stogies. The kid is about to graduate from college, computer whiz, got one of dem phones dat does everything imaginable, etc. But, He had no earthly idear how a Zippo werked.
Couldn't believe it didn't come wit fluid.
So I went to the closet, grabbed a bottle of light fluid, opend it up, pulled it apart filled it up and put it back togehter. I got out and extra flint and tucked it under the layer of the bottom pannel.
All the while this kid is sitt'in jaw dropped as how mechanically inclined dis ole phart is.
and how I might actually know WTF I'm do'in.

As I not one to let a moment of glory pass by, I held the closed lighter, between my thumb, and index finger, snapped it open then snapped my figners on the wheel to fire it up.[Just to show off]
For an encore, I'm gonna show him how to dail a rotary phone.

Merry Christmas everyone. Having worked all night and until 10am, I slept all day. The dogs and I are going to open our presents in a little while. My Mom sent a big box of presents for us, but looking through them, I only see stuff for the dogs!
This evening it will be the traditional turkey lunchmeat sandwiches. And then back to work.
Hope Santa was good to everyone!
Mike
Merry Christmas Everyone!
I hope everyone is having or did have a great Christmas day.
Having a good day here. And, the weatherman was wrong. We did end up with a white Christmas after all, and it is still snowing.

Sounds like you had a blast there Scot

Hope today is dry so you can have a test run with your new toy hehehe. It sounds a bit like me at your house, everyone else gets the toys and you have to install/build them. I got off easy this year for a change, only had to make some lego for Minette

Sorry Jamesbo but that's just sad there, doesn't know how to fill a zippo. You should take him camping, it would be a blast

Well I am off to try ice skating tonight, never tried it so hopefully I come home with all my fingers
Have a great day ya'll

Evening All!
Sounds like you all had a nice Christmas! I couldn't get on here yesterday. It just wouldn't load. I tried all afternoon and evening.
It was a beautiful day today! Sun and 45 degrees!! I'm lovin it, lol! Yesterday was partly sunny and around 40. I didn't miss not having snow.
We had a good Christmas. Larry even talked to Nicole some!! I was amazed.... Dave didn't come with her - he went to his grandmas. She is feeling smothered by him and wanted time away. I feel bad for him. She's sooooo secretive and we all know she lies (as in the trip to VA last Christmas) when it suits her, so I can understand him wanting to be around her all the time. He probably doesn't trust her. I don't know. I don't live with them!! Anyhow... We cooked a ham dinner and everyone enjoyed!
Larry got me a Kindle from Amazon, which runs on wireless, and we spent almost all day today going to Verizon, Radio Shack, and Microcenter just trying to get everything to hook the damned thing up!!! Seems my laptop was not made with wifi, so we had to get a little plug in thingy that detects the wifi, I upgraded my Verizon wireless air card for my laptop to a little 'myfi' thingy, and the kid at the Verizon store hooked all of it up!
It's a shame - you buy one thing that doesn't cost that much money, and you spend more than the thing cost to get it up and running!!! What a money maker these electronic gadgets are, lol!! And from what I understand, if I want to read a book on this Kindle, I have to buy it online.... I haven't even looked into any of that stuff yet. My head was pounding from technology overdrive when we got home.
So I have to read about them and see what all I can do with it - and how much it will cost me!
We went to Wal Mart and got some Christmas things for next year, like bows and tags and stuff. It wasn't too crowded, but it was late afternoon when we were there. Had some leftover ham and stuff for supper.
Adrian.... great pics of you in your shorts on FB playin with those Leggos, lol!
Well back to work tomorrow. Today seems like Sunday. Brian is off this week so won't be anyone to whine about my fan, lol!
You all have a great evening!l

It wasn't too crowded, but it was late afternoon when we were there. Had some leftover ham and stuff for supper.
Adrian.... great pics of you in your shorts on FB playin with those Leggos, lol!

Well back to work tomorrow. Today seems like Sunday. Brian is off this week so won't be anyone to whine about my fan, lol!
You all have a great evening!l
Good morning all. Back to reality, I guess. Hope everyone is ready for more winter. (except you Adrian
) Well, Still waiting on some parts before I can shut the shop down completely. I need a couple of wheels for a Jeep Liberty(teenage girls, ice and curbs does a good day not make
) and an injector for Plymouth Acclaim.
Betcha didn't know there was any of them still around, didja? The Missus is heading to Wyoming today for another load of shavings. I looked a the weather for Cheyenne and it says its gonna be breezy/blustery, or windy all week. Whoda thunk?
And I don't even think it has anything to do with Sandys fan
Enjoy the day!

Ah good morning!
Got home from work early two days in a row. And, it was my Friday so I have the rest of the week to myself. I think I'll be journeying to Alabama to help a friend of mine load up a Uhaul and drive it to North Carolina.
So I wasn't kidding about reading the whole Good Morning thread. I started on page 1 and found out immediately that Jamesbo is the chef of the bunch, and that lots of people get snow but no one likes it. Then on page 13 BAM the Col. passes away. I only read a few posts from him but I was overwhelmed. I know it was almost a year ago but when I was reading it, it seemed like it was just then. Then Ralph the wonder dog isn't far behind. I've read the Rainbow Bridge thing about a hundred times and I cry every time. It reminds me of my beloved Max. I can't wait to see what the next 67 pages have in store.
So! On that happy note I think I'll crawl into bed for a couple hours. It's raining pretty good out, so I won't get much done today. Maybe I'll do some house cleaning and get ready to paint one of the bedrooms. I don't know if I'm feeling that ambitious.

Morning All!
You're funny, Jamesbo, lol!
I wish I could come!!!
Well we have some flurries mixed in with rain this morning. Supposed to get our first 'real' snow this evening and through the night. Calling for 3 - 5 inches of friggin lake effect. Wish they'd invent a tarp to put over that lake in the winter, lol! Cover it up, and no snow!!!!
Temps to drop to the 20's tonight.
Still not hardly any traffic on the roads this morning! I'm lovin that!!!!! A lot of people must of taken the week off. Works for me! Plus no school busses. That helps!
Mike..... glad you're reading the thread from the beginning, lol! The original one was even better!!! I sure miss Blue and The Colonel! We had some laughs, that's for sure! Hopefully Blue will get himself on here again someday.
Clint..... I've had the fan on in here for the past hour, lol!
It's still 74 degrees in here. Too hot for this tiny space, and that's without Brian's hot air, lol!!
I brought my Kindle in with me. I loaded 3 free books on it from Amazon, so I'm anxious to see how it works. I'd still rather hold a real book in my hands! I'm not used to this WiFi on my computer yet. Weird!
It's gonna be a long day. Only 2 phone calls this morning so far.

Good morning all
Sounds like everyone made it through another Christmas. Things were quiet around here My youngest son and his girlfriend spent the day with us. It was great to see him as he has been working out of town for the last year.
Jamsbo, I liked your story about the Zippo. Brings back memories of Lucky Strikes rolled up in my white T shirt and a Zippo in my pocket Cruising around in any one of the cars I owned during those years. Boy times were simpler back then. A zippo will out last about a million of those disposal lighters that fill up the landfills and blow up in campfires.
Well back to work but a least its a light week. Take care all

Huh??
I remember the Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco slogan or whatever it was called, lol. My mom smoked those when I was little. My nephew still has a Zippo, Jamesbo. I did too, back when I smoked.

Good morning everyone! The sun is out in the Greater Stockbridge Metropolitan Area and it isn't too cold. Not bad for December/almost January.
Well I'm headed to Alabama to help some friends move. They are pitiful. They actually moved to North Carolina about a year ago, and make regular trips back to get more stuff, an occasional car, etc. Never, when they are driving through do they stop or call.
I told them since I was off this week I'd go help them get a truck loaded and drive with them to NC, nary a word from them. Then his mother calls all panic struck because they don't have anyone to help them. Good grief. I said I'd be glad to help but I'm no mind reader. So now I'm a hero for flying out and helping them. I don't mind being a hero once in a while. Besides, there's Rotel dip involved.
Leaving around noon, so I have enough time to have some brekky at the Awful house and run a couple errands.
How's everyone this morning?
Mike

You easterners and your references to the waffle house.
I'm not sure we have any of those around here. We do have lots of Village inns and a bunch a IHOP's.
Happy Moving Day Slant, Lift with your legs.
Well, I need to fix the gate today, Hopefully parts will be in for that Plymouth. I guess we're going snowboarding on Saturday. The kid needs to get bindings and boots for her new board.
She'll be back in school next Tuesday. The Wife went to Wy. yesterday and they don't have any snow up yonder. We're gonna get up into the 50's today, so the melting should commence.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Chiily but clear.
Sandy, I think you're think'in of LSMFT [Lucky Strike means fine tobacco ]or as Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts used to sing....."Loose straps mean floppy things."

and a few others that I can't mention.
More to de long await point. Back before WWII Luckies came in a green pack wit the bullyeye kinda thing on them. In typical Amercian advertising b.s. fashion, They said the green dye was needed for uniforms so "Lucky Strike Green went to war." [changed to white for the war effort.] It's a true story, but need fer tiny ammounts of dye is total hogwash.
Adrian, Thanks a million fer de Christmas card and de Aussie Calander. Now I'll be able to tell the difference betwix and Emu and a Koala.
Y'all, it really neat each months got a picture of an Aussie animal. Only problem is I may be a day behind.
I'm not sure yet.
Pat, You'll be sorry to ere, there's no month wit a crocodile and Linda Kozlowski.
Maybe next year.
Mike, "A friend will help ya move, but a GREAt friend will help ya move a body."

Hey, Lookie ere, It's a pic of a Tasmanin Devil. I thought de were only on cartoons. He's kinda cute.

Morning All!
Well it's still snowing.
Got a couple inches on the ground yesterday. It's coming down pretty good and it's blowing too. Only in the 20's today. But we're supposed to be around 40 this weekend so hopefully I can get the yard decorations down and dried out before schleping them back upstairs in the garage.
Another quiet day - not much going on. I don't feel real good today, kindy achy feeling. Hope I'm not trying to get something.
Jamesbo.... my Aussie calendar has scenery pics on it! Lots of nice beaches..... think we're gonna be a day behind, lol???
