Well definitely no snowmobiling here in Phoenix. It's getting to the point I'm gonna have to put the convertible into summer hibernation.

That's where I started, on the ramp. Drove an hour each way working midnight shift. Did that for three years until I got my license and moved to Atlanta. We fly out of your old gates now, it's awful. Too small and too many people. But it saved us I think 2M a year in rent. But I sure miss my native O'Hare.

I was there from March of 94 till January of 97. We were in L Concourse then. Northwest would lay over a 747 every night in our hangar. They even modified the doors so the tail would stick out, because the plane was longer than the bay.

Here's a serious question. Anyone know where I could get ahold of a caboose?

They can usually be found at the rear of a train. Now finding one is much different than getting one home.

Believe it or not I know where you can get 2 old Cabooses, Mike. A friend of mine could get them for free or very little but had to remove them. He wanted one to put at a historic train station museum in Clare, Mi. BUT, there's more to the story.... The railroad track has been removed. Story is there was a track that ran from east to west across Michigan adjacent to US 10. It was scheduled to be removed. The railroad supposedly contacted anyone who had a spur or landing off of the track to remove anything that needed to be before this main track was removed. Well these owners of this land didn't. So on this spur is 2 old cabooses and a fiber optic thingie installer train car.
How is everything going friends? I know nerves are frayed and this social distancing sucks... but could be a lot worse, I'm glad I have my hobbies and other projects to do. And of course Classic Oldsmobile, Ford Truck Enthusiasts and The Hamb. I look at these things all the time on line. Take care and try to stay happy!!

Good morning everyone.

Got up before the chickens and decided I didn't want to go see that car. It's not getting any bigger and I'm not getting any smaller. Don't think it would be a happy experience.

Jamesbo Red Tail and Blue Tail are how we differentiated between what was Northwest and what was Delta, after the merger. See, NW had red tails on their airplanes and we have blue tails. Pretty clever.

So I have the whole day to myself now. But it's raining, so that limits what I can do. I should go back to bed.

Well, have a good day everyone.

That does pose a problem, Greg, trying to get them moved. Track is helpful, as well as a crane and a method of propulsion. So that is the railroad version of "isolation" and "sheltering in place."

I remember when we parked the whale in your hanger, that’s when Northwest had daily nonstop service to Tokyo out of ORD. I saw a lot of changes in the Airline Industry. Proud to have worked during the glory days! At one time Northwest Orient had the largest fleet of 747’s in the industry.

--Good morning all, Getting truck back together put dash cluster back in yesterday. I am the point of needing help to put windshield and rear window back in, and doors. I expected to have friends come and help me but don't want to ask them with this social distancing stuff, well it's really no hurry, I guess...
--I once test drove a 1970 Monte Carlo with 3 spd stick on column, what a oddball but kinda cool. That was in 1976 at a dealership on the "Mile of cars" in Chula Vista, Ca. That was when I was in the Navy, Ended up buying a 69 Dodge Coronet 440 2 door hardtop, wish I still had that.. Brings back lots of memories. Have a good Sunday, guys.

Good morning everyone.

Beautiful day, dare I say glorious. Think Tiger and I will take a ride to Greenville, Alabama.

Greg I wouldn't have guessed that the Monte came with a manual. I guess back then it was probably standard equipment. I think I saw a Caprice Classic in the 80s with a stick. I know I've seen Malibu's with a stick. I think the Coronet is worth more these days.

So Dan, adjusting for inflation, what was your return on investment?

Kenneth once upon a time I was on the list to transfer to Phoenix. It was completely arbitrary;I had never been to Phoenix, but wanted to get out of Atlanta. I like hot weather. Well, hard times were upon us, and the company was having their first ever layoffs. They said they were going through all the transfer lists and if they called you to transfer you had two weeks to start your new assignment. And if you didn't go you were fired. Not furloughed, fired. So I called and took my name off the list. No way I could have made a move like that in two weeks. Looking back my old dog wouldn't have stood a chance, with any of it.

Started a brake job on the dogmobile yesterday after it quit raining. Having never done Ford brakes, there was a definite learning curve. I couldn't find a C clamp to use on the calipers, so I went to get one, also looked at lumber and couldn't get what I wanted, got into a tiff with the checkout woman, then came home and didn't finish the brake job. Was going to do that today until the impromptu trip came up. Eh, Tiger can ride in the pickup if he needs to.

Okay off I go. Hope everyone has a good day.

Well Mike, accounting for inflation, probably negligible, 25% more than what I paid for them, but I got over 40 years of use out of them, so not too shabby I would suspect.

What a great day yesterday. 50-60 degrees and real warm in the sun. Wife and I washed windows most of the day then had some visitors at barn ( 6 ft apart) then I drank a few beers while getting out/cleaning up gas grill. Then drank a few more beers while grilling burgers.YUM, taste of summer!! They say it's sposta rain today but this morning is beautiful. Didn't get to washing cars yesterday maybe I'll do that today. Have a good one!!

Good morning everyone.

Good day at work. Out by 9. Stopped at Walmart on the way home. They've put arrows on the floor and you're supposed to only go that way down the aisle. That's the dumbest thing I've seen yet. No one was paying any mind to them.

Jamesbo I looked at Norm's public profile. It says he was here at 853 this morning. Wonder why he won't say hey. Norm come back.

Beautiful out. I need to finish the brake job on the dogmobile. I also need to mow, but that might come later on in the week.

Have a good day everyone.

I should have said the dumbest thing today. Yes there are plenty of dumb things going on. I'm never short of amazement for our species.

Got half of the brake job done. Glad that isn't a job that needs doing often. Precision, zero tolerance parts belong on a Ferrari, not Ford brake pads.

Supposedly the Awful house was going to open to dine in eating today. But they are only going to allow 3-4 parties in at a time. One person sitting at the counter, one person(group) sitting at a table on this side of the room, and two people(parties) sitting on that side of the room. But never to number more than ten, and that includes the staff.

I'm getting a little shaggy, I hope my barber has decided to open.

And now to wind down. I'm beat. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Hi everyone.

Beautiful out. Gonna be about 80. Rain tomorrow. Got home around 9 this morning.

Gonna finish the brakes on the dogmobile then run a couple errands. One thing I need to do is get new wipers for the Saturn. When I replaced them before I saw that they go on with some bizarre clip deal. I couldn't figure it out, never had seen them and I had to ask the parts store guy to help me. I don't know what was wrong with blade slipping over the pin and being done with it.

Week is half over. For me, anyway. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Mike, I agree on replacing the blades on a Saturn, a pain in the butt, why can't the car manufacturer's come up with a universal attachment style for the wiper blades, some are easy, and others like the Saturn Aura are a pain.

I never had any luck with taters. Seems the slugs always get to them and I do not want to risk biting into a surprise-inside stuffed tater.

My tomato plant is now nearly as tall as I am. Hoping I can harvest some maters before it gets so hot they turn into the sundried kind.
Got a healthy crop of orange bell peppers on the bush, a jalapeno plant that's starting to produce, and four new serrano plants that just recently had some blossoms pop out. They seemed to really come alive once the temperature approached 100 degrees.

Kenneth, I'd guess it's too hot for taters where you live. We plant them in March. If ya wait much later they get tater bugs

Good morning everyone.

Pretty much the same morning. Twenty-five wheels and out by 9. A guy could get spoiled like that. However I'd much rather things be back to normal.

Jamesbo I'm surprised I don't know someone named Tater bug. I know Tater, Tater Root, Tater Salad, Tater Sack.

Started out nice this morning, but now it's overcast. Supposed to be nasty later on. Nice temperature.

Got the wipers on the Saturn and on the back of the dogmobile, and finished the dogmobile's brakes. When I was at the store getting the wiper blades. I told the guy I remembered when the wipers came two in a pack. He didn't believe me.

Okay gonna find something to do. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Good day at work. Done by 830. But now it starts. The company has committed to making/building things such as face masks and medical pods, knowing full well we don't have enough people to do the work. So now they are going around finding people and moving them around to meet their unrealistic goals. I actually should be safe from all that, the people with more time than me are coming back and going right to a project, because they are protected with their 40 hours, and currently I'm the top in seniority for my group. Hey, someone has to stay and do what work we have, might as well be me. We'll see how that works out.

So a friend of mine is in the hospital with a perforated bowel. Sounds awful. I thought I'd call her and see how she was doing, so I looked up what exactly a perforated bowel is. Interesting little article on Wikipedia, but one line has me more than a little baffled:

Eating multiple magnets can also lead to perforation if the magnets attract and stick to one another through different loops of the intestine.[12]

Why on earth would someone eat multiple magnets, let alone one?

Used to be you could find a caboose here or there fairly easily. But it's been years since the railroad has used them, so I guess the supply is drying up. Odd. I suppose I could see if the company would sell me an old airplane cheep.

Okay gonna plan my weekend. Three-plus days off I should be able to tear something up. Have a good day everyone.

Toddlers will put anything in their mouth. This is a problem because of the strength of rare earth magnets.

Perhaps you misread it, maybe it said magets. Chewing magets would be easier than eating magnets. And a little more tasteful.
