Actually the plan would have been to build out into the hangar. The downstairs of the apartment would have been an expanded kitchen and eating area, and the upstairs would be guest quarters. What a great view from the upstairs. Kind of an octagonal room with windows all around, it was like being in a lighthouse.

Mike, That would take 132 wheel dollies to squeeze them in there

With the problems of HOA, I'm gonna keep my vote with closed down dealership
The Shopping center business is also on the skids, I'd keep looking

He's in bad shape and just found out his beloved Golden Retriever has the big C

He's gonna need some moral support . He loves dogs like I do

BTW my dear friend [ and not so active CO member Donny] got me a heck of a deal on a used Gator from the club.

I like the Green with my Green Cemetery

Hi everyone.

Had a meal at work today. Barbeque and beans and Brunswick stew. Now, I would have liked to have some Brunswick stew but it looked just like the beans and I don't like beans. I gotta tell you the group that I work with can suck the life out of any party. Crass, disrespectful, lude, and when it comes time for someone to say something important, like the foreman talking or asking the blessing before we eat, they whoop and holler and carry on like fools.

Nice out, a bit breezy. No rain for the next few days. We're off Monday and I thought I might go see my Mom, but I think I'll stay home and try to get something done. Temps not to be too high but dry.

My neighbor over at the shop, the guy that bought that house out from under me(no I haven't told him that) called and said a tree fell across the driveway completely blocking my gate. Nice of him to call. I've been waiting for that tree to fall for weeks. It kept leaning further and further, and there must be enough wind today to finish the job. I think we had quite a storm at some point. So I'm gonna go over with my chainsaw and cut it all up. And if I'm really feeling froggy I'll fire up the Deuce and pull the stump out. Whoo hoo.

Jamesbo that's a nice Gator. The ones like what you have at the lake, how are they for steep terrain?

Okay gonna get to work on that tree.

Mike - It really gets my goat when I am witness to the likes of these brazen **** knocking *****-tards, as well. Like, WTF planet did they come from?

On a slightly different note, but with some similarity, I play golf with this one group x3 times/week (The Hotdoggers) - there's roughly ~20 of them if they all show up. The majority of them are nothing more than inconsiderate neanderthals. They have this "it's all about me" Phucking attitude - drive your cart anywhere you like, don't repair your ball marks on the green, putt ahead of anyone else, do the Phucking jitter-bug next to the stick while someone is putting, talk **** & jibberish while someone else is addressing/striking the ball - they drive me completely mad. I learned a long time ago it doesn't matter if you say something to one of them, they never change - they'll remain tightly contained w/in their own bowels of $HIT no matter how nice or blatantly forward you are with them. They're fricking "WEIRD".

James - I say the same thing constantly - Don't let my golf game interfere w/ your conversation, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah. It works on one tee....

How about the A$$HATS who have to drive their carts directly in front of a green? Catch me on a bad day & I'll deliver both barrels to them. Now "that", generally levels the playing surface real quick. Some stuff I just won't tolerate. How about the guys who never repair their ball marks on the green, then have to put ahead of everyone because why - they're "entitled"?

To the same **** knockers who often hit behind the ball and I say to them "...ooops, you hit the big ball first..."; and, they look at me like WTF are you talking about?

Norm,

The other day, I muffed a 3 wood when I was out 180 from the pin. My partner said " Well ya took care of the 90"

The ones that REALLY get me are the friends [and or relatives] that ya take, take take and pay pay pay and on the rare occasion they ax you to meet them somewhere to play, They show up a minute and a half before tee time So naturally everyone has already taken care of the green fees

Thankfully, It don't take me too long to closely examine a hot horse shoe. So, I have PERMANENTLY eliminated most of that crowd

Well that was short order. A couple hours with a sharp saw and things can really get done. Though I didn't think I'd have to do work when I got home from work. Eh, I'm glad it's down, I'm glad it didn't smash my gate, and I'm glad I now have the opportunity to cut it all up for firewood.

One time I was standing behind two young guys at a shop meal who were yacking back and forth and poking each other and carrying on during the blessing. Without raising my head or saying anything, I reached up and put my arm around the one guy's shoulders and stood close to him. He was quiet for the remainder. Afterward he said, like the little wiseass that he was, thanks for holding me up. I said, as flatly as I could, it's not polite to play grab-*** during grace.

Now I'm beat. Maybe this weekend I'll get it all cut up and ready to chop. That won't be this year it was still a live tree. I did use the Deuce to pull the big chunks out of the driveway. What fun.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

So, the weatherman predicted 1-3" of snow Thursday through Sunday, with a possibility of a little more along the lakeshore. I got 8 1/2" so far. I was going to be nice, and clear out an area for the mailman, but as he cuts across the yard where it doesn't get cleared, then I think that he can manage. Tomorrow I'll get the snowblower out.

Hi everyone.

Got done and got out. Actually we were all supposed to walk down to the engine shop and shake hands with the big wigs and eat Chick Fil A. I passed. It was only going to be the medium wigs and I don't care too much for Chick Fil A, so I left with another guy who wasn't about to walk that far, either. Then sat at the Awful house for 2.5 hours. It was a better time.

Dan I used to clear a path through the front yard for our mail man. He would deliver to my neighbor, walk across to our house, then he'd have to walk back and down the driveway to turn and walk in front of the house, as there was chain link between us and the next house. During the summer he'd just walk across the yard down to the sidewalk so one time after a heavy snow, I plowed a path through the yard. He actually knocked on the door and thanked me. The downspout emptied right out onto the sidewalk. It would make an icy mess. If I put an extension on it he'd have to step over, and it usually was caked up with snow and ice anyway. I was trying to give the guy a break, and he apprerciated it so I kept doing it.

Beautiful out. A little breezy and cool, but I'll take it. I think I'll cut the tree up tomorrow. This afternoon I want to try to get some brake lines apart on the blue van. Not sure how far I'll get. Three day weekend for us, whoopee.

--It says 3 above on my outside thermometer now at 6:41 am. I guess I picked a good time to spray primer on the truck parts..! The shop furnace has been working good but I only go over there, turn it on, work a while and turn it off and leave. Well to spray automotive paint it is supposed to be 60 or more. So yesterday about noon I went over and fired it up -set at 70 and left it on when I left about 5. I checked on it about 7 and it was running. As cold as it got last night I'll bet it ran all night! The problem is the air gets pretty comfortable to work in but everything in the shop is still cold. Truck-bench- tool box- wrenches, etc etc. Well we planned this a couple weeks ago and my friend who has painted before with a sprayer, etc, is coming to help me. This is a 2 part epoxy primer that is supposed to help when dealing with 60 year old metal. I'll let you know how it goes... Have a good one!!

Good morning everyone.

Had a nice visit with some guys at the Awful house. Beautiful out, but cold. Yesterday I went and sprayed some penetrant on the brake line fittings, then went and cut up an old railroad tie that was in the neighbor's yard. Then it was dark so I came in.

Question for the masses. Can you vacuum indoor/outdoor carpeting? If it's outside you can hose it off. I don't think I've ever seen it inside. What about Astroturf?

I'll wait for it to warm up a little before I go over to cut up the tree. I should go look at trailers today. Hm, I might just do that.

Have a good day everyone.

Well, that was weird. I went to open the dead-bolt lock on the rear door of the house from the inside and the key just spins completely 360° in both directions - it does not engage the bolt, therefore I could not unlock the door (from the inside). Negotiating the same operation from the exterior side of the door the dead-bolt lock engages correctly. Guess it's time to replace the dead-bolt.

Mike - I've seen some buildings with either indoor/outdoor carpeting or Astroturf in places like screen-ways, enclosed porches, certain walk-ways in sports buildings, arenas, etc. I suspect you can vacuum the stuff - I don't know. I mean, how else would you clean the stuff? I'll bet there are certainly different varieties of both indoor/outdoor carpeting & Astroturf based upon wear/traffic factors with some holding up much better than others. You see some of the crappy stuff which loses the blades of artificial plastic grass and it looks terrible over time - the individual blades of grass are broken off and create ugly bare patches; then, you see some which looks and handles the traffic remarkably. I'll bet it has to do with the type of "nap", the type of traffic expected on the artificial "nap" & the quality of production which is required to produce that "nap".

Painting went well. Shop did heat up fine. No it wasn't eastwood epoxy, Norm. It was a epoxy primer that is supposed to be good for old metal like on this 64 year old truck- sposta help stop and adhere to rust if you can't get it all out- like in cracks and crevasses yata yata. Mike, I have vacuumed indoor outdoor carpet. Not sure if this is the type you're talking about but the stuff on my pontoon boat has been vacuumed many times- and pressure washed, etc. Real durable. In fact it's not really carpet at all but spun plastic of some sort. Reason I know that is once I cut off a small bolt that held my flag mount with a small cutoff wheel and the sparks went on the carpet and melted it immediately!
--Well today planning on going on a snowmobile ride with my grandson and some other guys. Should be fun. See yas....

Good morning everyone.

It wasn't supposed to rain today. So much for being outside. So much for the warm temperatures. So much for the firewood I had on the porch rail waiting to be used.

I lost a whole day. Yesterday was Friday, I was at work then I went to Awful house. Somehow between work and Awful house it became Saturday. All afternoon I operated on the premise that it was Saturday. I woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday. I was at the Awful house this morning and made mention of the church crowd. Uh, they won't be in till tomorrow. I can only imagine the deer in the headlights look I had.

Greg I can't wait to see pictures of the finished truck. So envious of you having a nice shop to work in. I'm working on that.

Okay gonna go find something to do. Have a good SATURDAY everyone.

I do in fact make the best bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwiches on the entire planet.

The only thing wrong w/ the dead-bolt (rear entrance - house) was a broken snap-ring. I couldn't find the specific size/type snap-ring @ Ace Hardware. Had they had one, the repair would have cost me all of $1.00 - tops. I elected to get a new dead-bolt (keys both sides) & new exterior entrance lock set. The entrance lock set was probably over 40 years old - I think it's time for a new one. Ace Hardware re-keyed the entrance lock set to match the dead-bolt. Life is good (so far).

Tee time tomorrow morning @ 9:00am.

I am a colossal dumbass. The phone says it's Sunday. I don't know what to think. At least the Awful house people aren't any smarter than me. Wow I've really freaked myself out.

Jamesbo does your uncle and his dog live by themselves up there?

Mike, Yes he does but her has a well paid housekeeper [that lives very close] that checks on him often and does his shopping. He has visiting nurses 3 x a week and I try to make a few meals for him every week

Losing his dog is just too sad for him

Truthfully I don;t want to live that long I hope I'm shot by a jealous husband so I'm coming and going at the same time

James, I don't know about Mike, but that just about made me bawl just seeing the image in my head. Speaking of dogs... I saw a special on PBS about dogs the other night. They say that a dog looks forward to praise from their "Peeps"(people) more than they look forward to food. I believe that. Our Jack sure did crave attention and if me or the wife yelled at him it was like his whole world collapsed! I sure do miss him. We had our friend's cat live with us for 2 weeks when they went to Hawaii. She was a good cat and a lot of fun, but cats sure can't come close to dogs in my book.

Good morning everyone.

Cold as a mother out today, but no rain. It is cloudy. Slept in a little and decided to forego Awful house. Of all days I should go it would be today, sort of a free day, but I just wasn't feeling it.

Greg dogs want attention more than food? Obviously they didn't include Tiger in that survey. I get tickled when the so called experts talk about what dogs are thinking. I want to know who actually asked the dog?

Well today is Monday and I know it's Monday and it feels like it. Also feels like a good day to stay in my jammies but I've got a couple errands to run later on and people might look at me funny.

So last night it was cold in the house so I decided to see how much newspaper it would take to get wet firewood to start burning. Turns out not so much. I had some scrap pine I put in, a little cardboard, and a chunk of that rail road tie I cut up. It was a rather solid piece with a fair amount of creosote still in it, and it started burning and lasted all night. Didn't put out a lot of heat but I sit close to the stove when I'm at my desk so it wasn't bad. Hm.

Okay I guess I'll get ready and do something. Hard to say what's going to be open today, no mail no banks, but Presidents Day isn't a big deal to some. When I was but a wee one we'd get both Lincoln's birthday and Washington's birthday off school.

Well have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone.

Rain here, too. In fact we had rain yesterday, nothing beautiful about it. And rain all week. But we're in a drought.

Who here is an arborist? I've got an oak tree that some numbskull hacked the hell out of and now it has all these little branches growing out of the weirdest places. Also he cut big limbs several inches away from the trunk. Can I trim the weird shoots off? Can I shorten the stubs up closer to the trunk? I should really have the whole thing taken down. I don't want to do that, it used to be a beautiful tree but now it comes up half dead anyway.

Not much going on. Work was slow but we finished up on time. Ran a couple errands when I got home. Probably hit the sack early.

Have a good evening everyone.

Mike - First off, there are many species of Oak Trees. What species of Oak Tree? Second, trees in general are self pruning. I'm talking about true trees here now; not, shrubs and not ornamental trees. Oak Trees generally do not fall under the umbrella of ornamental trees. By self pruning, I mean to say the small shoots/branches/limbs will die off as the tree takes more water and growth to the furthest ends of each of the already established branches/limbs. If you continue to prune the small branches/limbs it will be a never ending battle - they will continue to grow back - often w/ more vigor and vitality as you continue to prune them so you're better off leaving them alone. The only way to stop those small limbs/shoots/branches from pushing their way out again is to creosote or tar the nubs from which you pruned them. Yes, you can shorten the stubs closer to the trunk w/o harming the tree - again, they will continue to grow back often more of them so often they're better left "as-is".

I haven't seen the movie yet Jamesbo. I am interested in it. I'll rent it when it comes out on dvd. Well, a mild winter here so far, 26.6" below normal in our snowfall accumulation to date, with 49.9 for the season. Mackinaw City, way up north, is on target with 96" so far, 18" on the ground, only 1.7' below normal. I hear that the snow blowers are bigger up there.
