Evening everyone. A little rainy here today but at least it was 60. Took some time to wrap Christmas presents today, still have more to do.

Clint - hope you're feeling better.

Jamesbo - that's funny! I'm not sure if that's real statistics or not, but I'd rather eat bacon than tofu and soy burgers.

Mike - sorry to hear that the last gen Camaro was a disappointment to you. I drove one a couple of years ago, thought it was a real hoot to drive. The new one is getting rave reviews, saying its a better driving car than the BMW. I hope to test drive one soon.

Welp, I'm going to finish watching Homeland and head to bed. Night all.

Good morning everyone.

Like Jamesbo says, rain. Wasn't raining when I left the house, but started in pretty good by the time I got to the Awful house. So I came home instead of going to get my ears lowered. Turns out the dogs were sleeping and didn't even know it was raining.

So look at me, to the Awful house and back by 9. Now I have the whole day to stay out of the rain. It's cold in here and I don't have any dry fire wood. Maybe I could put some in the oven to dry it out. Or the dryer.

Well I guess I'll do something. Have a good humpity everyone.

Morning all. Merry Christmas Eve. At least I think it is Christmas Eve but you'd never be able to tell by the weather anyway. Already 65 here and its supposed to be 71 today???

Thought we were going to have a quiet day today but some friends and family changed their minds and we have company coming over. So off to the grocery store I go. I'm so done with fighting crowds.

I had some time last night so I replaced the seals in my Saginaw box. Everything was fine until I did the input shaft, and then the entire shaft came out with it and all the little bearings fell out all over the place. Now I have to take the whole thing apart, oh well.

Jamesbo - I hope your list was short for shopping, it would have been a long day. I meant to ask, who's the supermodel?

Clint - hope your wife is feeling better in time for Christmas.

Mike - I dunno, you might wreck the dryer if you put firewood in it, lol

Have a good day all, talk to you later.

Happy last day of Advent, gang. It was a long trip up yessa-day, but we made it unscathed -- at least physically. I'd say it rained about 75% of the entire trip; we were on the road for 12 hours. Hotlanta's traffic and rain accounted for about 2 of those hours. But as long as we arrive safely, I ain't complainin'.

Had to brave the rain again this morning to go do the Christmas grocery shopping. We're (i.e., "I'm") going to fix a standing rib roast w/ some JD's Taters (half-mashed), which are the better half's faves. (I like 'em too.)

Mike, hope you stay warm. I'm with Darrell. Be careful when tumble-drying the logs. Wish you could go down to Ponchatoula and clear out all the dry firewood we have; I'm tossing my wood-burner and installing a propane insert real soon. The one here in Hiawassee has 'sperlt' us, as they used to say in the city.

Jamesbo, you're doing more Christmas shopping than I am, so congratulations! Hope Supermodel likes whatever you get her -- and that she emerges victorious in the cat-fights. Raaaaaeeeeerrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Clint, when we were kids, our parents would have headed straight for the bottle of paregoric we always had in the medicine chest. They'd mix a little with honey & lemon, and "Down the hatch!" Yum... Hope better half gets well soon.

Trying to figger out a good task manager and scheduling program for this newfangled Android phone I now have... idea is to get rid of my Palm Z22 that has been my faithful buddy for well over 10 years. (I had to put a new battery in it about 3 years ago.) I ain't tossing it until I'm completely happy with whatever apps I wind up installing.

Whelpt, y'all have a warm, dry, and cozy Christmas Eve, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

Didn't get much sleep today, as the thunder and lightning drove the dogs out of their minds. Also with all the rain we got I had water about 15 feet into the back yard.

Jamesbo Red Dog's nose wasn't far off. There were tornadoes in other parts, just not around here. I hope we're done with the storms now, though we'll feel effects from it for awhile(flooding).

John I'm glad you guys arrived in one piece. You should have called, I would have brought you lunch in the traffic jam.

Okay off to work. It's Monday. As the analysts are hurrying out of the office early, they load up the planes with work because, they're going to be there might as well get it done. And because mechanics don't want to get home to their families at all.

Hope Santa has his water wings tonight. Merry Christmas everyone.

Merry Christmas! Just like the rest of the eastern half of the country, we're wet & warm here in the hills. But nothing's dampening our Christmas spirit. So much to be grateful for.

Thank goodness no basketball team has to suffer through my or my lovely's membership, Jamesbo.

Hope all the work gets done and you can get your keister quickly home, Mike. Puppies are anxious to open their presents (between the claps of thunder). (Unfortunately, it appears more is in store for today.)

May all the joy of the season be with all the Oldsmobuddies today and always.

Merry Christmas to all my Olds friends. Like John said, we do have so much to be grateful for.

Got some suspension parts for the Olds to improve handling, Santa always knows what to get me. The kids are all happy, this year they wanted Star Wars and Jurassic World action figures. So right now there's an epic battle going on in the living room.

We are normally around the high 30's low 40's this time of year, however today we are going to be 70 and sunny. I think I need to mow the lawn again, lol.

Hi everyone Merry Christmas.

Got home around 6 this morning. Not terrific but better than most days. At least I didn't have to work on the late arriving engine change.

Rain stopped around 9 this morning and it was peaceful sleeping until well after noon. We got up to open the presents my Mom sent home with me. I got a shirt, the dogs got about 6 months worth of treats. Hm.

Scot I thought I saw you on the way back from Pensacola last week. I thought, gee, the boss finally took Scot's opinion to heart. It was a double sleeper KW pulling about a 40ft flatbed full of carts double stacked.

Well over 70 today, and humid as can be. The water has receded out of the yard but left quite a mess. Darrell I need to mow as well, but it will be awhile so things can dry out.

Okay off to work for night 2. Hope everyone enjoyed their day. Have a good evening.

Top o'th'afternoon to all.... Sol showing his glorious face for the first time since we're here. Haven't returned to LA hills yet, Jamesbo. Mike still has to come up and see us... Planning a big lasagna for his and our eating pleasure....

Spose to go down to the dam for a walk in the temperate environment this afternoon... Should be nice.

Been scouring Corvette repro catalogs for some trim and hardware items for the GS that are like hens' teeth. Not a lot of luck so far. There's a clip that goes on the top portion of the tranny dipstick tube that retains the tranny modulator vacuum line. Good luck with that!

But it's nice to have some time on one's hands for a change to pursue such crazy whims-- not that there's nothing more constructive I could be doing.

Might put in the new garage lights tonight I've been having for 6 months.

Y'all have a great 2nd Day of Christmas, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

Warm and sunny today. Right now, warm and darkening. We had rain at the airport off and on last night, hope that is done.

Jamesbo you should write that in a book, you'd sell a million copies.

John how are the slim, muddy roads by you? I might trade in the Mustang for something with a little more grunt. Oh, did I say trade in the Mustang? Sheesh. Any reason.

Paul have you sorted out the problems you were having with the Cutlass?

Time for night number 3. Didn't do too bad last night, held a 1000lb elevator on my back most of the night. I could hardly move when I got home this morning. Still feel it a little.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

Mike - ok, so you have to explain, how did you hold a 1000lb elevator on your back?

Good evening everyone!

Hope you all had a great Christmas day.

The temperatures are starting to drop here and they are calling for snow and freezing rain tomorrow. Well the spring like weather was nice while it lasted.

Mike I still have a few issues with the Cutlass but it seems like the list was getting longer instead of shorter for a while. The speedometer is bouncing around when I drive so tested the electronic sensor that screws into the transmission as the gauge manufacturer suggested and it was smooth and steady using a drill. Was steady all the way up to 110mph. Looks like the problem is transmission related. I don't think the Cutlass will be seeing that speed ever. Also have an issue with the shifting. The rpms seem to raise a bit before the transmission shifts. I'll look into that next time it is warmer out.

So why are you wanting to trade the Mustang?

OLD SKL 69 I think you are far from the only one in that situation!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Hi everyone.

Got home around 5 this morning. What a nice surprise. Worked on that same plane again with the elevator. The dayshift lead set an unrealistic ready time so they scheduled it for a flight it had no chance of making. Well, there were no spares so the flight was delayed, three hours! I'll bet the people were a little ticked. We had all the work done, but the inspector was big dealing the checkout. I can see that, I mean the flight control surfaces are pretty important.

Darrell when we installed this elevator yesterday, there were six of us on the lift truck and a crane lifted the elevator up to us. It was suspended by the crane while we worked it into its mounting and hooked it all up. I would lift the elevator up with my shoulder, push it up, push it out, in, aft, whatever it needed, and mostly just held it in place while everyone else tried to get all the bolts in. I was the tallest guy so the lift truck was up and I was bent over all night. I actually don't think that weighed 1000lbs, but it wasn't far off and after 10 hours it was all I could do to stand up.

Paul I'm not trading the Mustang. I was mocking myself when I said I'd have to trade the Mustang for something else to take to John's. The road to his house is pretty steep and it gets a little slimy with a lot of rain. So I'll probably take the pickup truck and leave the Mustang home.

Found out yesterday that the lake is coming down and staying for the whole winter. It seems a few people complained that the lake came up into the yards. This is excellent because now I can start building my new wall. Everyone buy stock in cinder blocks because I'm going to be getting a lot of them.

Nice day out so I'll find something constructive to do. Maybe literally. Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Hola, all... Miraculously gettng the Saints game in Hotlanta viewing area. Whoopee! They're way out front at 24-6 in the 3rd quarter; but I never count my chickens before they hatch -- especially when dealing with the Boys in Black & Gold.

Mike, there are spots that are still wet up here; but they're predikkin' more wet stuff tomorrow. Personally, I'd feel better in the Stang. But whatever flips your chart. If you bring your walking shoes, we might be able to squeeze in a lap around the lake between showers.

Jamesbo, did you have to go back down south?

Clint, where you B?

Dan, be careful in that stuff. I'm curently coordinating with my buddy in Bellaire to see when I'm going up to visit him in '16. I certainly won't be going back to St. Ignace any time soon. I want to hit that Mancelona junk yard this time, too.

Darrell, what engine do you have in your Cutlass? 350 or 455? I have a question if it's the big block. Or, could you have the TH-400 with the 350? I know the big Oldses in the 70s used to get the big tranny a lot of times, even with the small block.

Scot, no rest for the weary! Mike might have a couch he'd sell you cheap... We're gonna' look for a living room chair this week.... or at least, that's the plan.

Whelpt, I guess it's countdown to Elsie now... just when things were starting to dry out. Y'all have a great resto'weekend, Oldsmofriends.

Early worm here! Was still up so I thought I'd check in and see what everyone's up to.

John - I have a 350/350 combo in my Olds with a 2.56 peg leg. All original. I guess I'm not much help to your big block/400 question.

At some point, fund willing, I would like to do a 200r4 and a 3.73 posi. Besides funding though, the only other thing stopping me is the fact that the current drivetrain is so smooth it really is enjoyable to drive as is.

Is Elsie the name of the storm for all the rain your getting? I googled it and nothing came up. Hope you're not getting flooded out.

Mike - I didn't realize that your job involved installing elevators. Tell them they need more help! You need your back for crawling under the Olds, hope it felt better today.

Heading off to bed now, night all.

Good morning everyone.

Humid out and warmish. Haven't seen rain for a couple days, I like that.

Darrell my department does everything to maintain the airplanes. Yes that includes flight controls. This was the first time I'd messed with an elevator but I've taken off/installed many ailerons and flap sections. We change a lot of engines, and of course tires, brakes, actuators, etc. Lots of cabin stuff. People are merciless.

So I'm all ready to head up to John's. Always a good day spending time with him and Better Half. I am going to take a quick detour to the Awful house. I wasn't going to go this morning, but I need to talk to a guy that's going to be there but I won't stay long.

Okay have a good Monday everyone. Jamesbo get some whackin' in just in case the rain decides to come back.

Darrell I just noticed you have a new Silverado. How long have you had it? What are your thoughts about it? I had an 08 which I liked, wondered if they stayed pretty much the same over the past 7 years.

Evening all

What's going on here? I left London for a nice warm vacation in the south West and I'm bloody freezing.

So far I left L.A and drove to Phoenix and it was OK. I'm now in El Paso and there's snow on the ground and 32 degrees.

On the plus side I've seen some wonderful sites and paid for some really cheap gas. I paid $3.31 in L.A and $1.99 somewhere in Arizona. On to Roswell tomorrow to see if I can spot any U.F.Os

Good evening everyone.

Looks like the spring-like weather is coming to an end. The forecast is predicting up to a foot of snow tomorrow. It was nice while it lasted.

Just saw on TV that the snow storm tomorrow is the same storm that was in Texas and the southern US.

Bowling was interesting tonite. Had to change lanes mid-game since a belt broke on the machine.

London, I was in Las Vegas in November and took a drive to the Grand Canyon and had to out run a snow storm since I figured driving this rental car in 2-6 inches of snow might not be a great idea.

Attachment 157327

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Mike, didn't know that you worked on all those different components.

Oh, and maybe I was thinking you meant trade the Mustang because of my thoughts about mine. I had it in for a ninth or tenth warranty visit today

John, is your question th-400 related or big block related?

Well, that was interesting. Managed to do a 360° on the highway into work Monday...that was a first, no contact, stayed on the road, and after stopping on the shoulder to make sure all was good, continued on my way. needless to say the roads were ****, and even worse coming home, driving 25-30 mph on the secondary road that Alcoa is on, and than 40-50 mph once I was back on U.S. 31. I have been driving for over 40 years, and that was one of the worst, white knuckle all the way, a weird frozen slurry. To top it off, while trying to clear off my car before leaving work, I knocked of one of the windshield sprayers (drivers side of course) that GM, in all of it's wisdom thought to mount on the &*#@$ hood. It now shoots straight up into the air like a geyser.

Good morning everyone.

Rain like you wouldn't believe yesterday. The lake is right back up, but not quite into the yard. It's blue sky this morning.

Had such a good time with John and Better Half yesterday. They are gracious hosts. Turns out the pickup wasn't the best choice to take on the steep and slippery driveway. The back wheels were too light to get traction, so I had to go into 4 wheel drive and use granny 1st. John you should have a winch at the top of the driveway so you could tug visitors up the hill.

Paul are your warranty visits always for the same thing? Is it a defect in the product or an inept dealer? I got a recall notice for the airbags months ago, it said don't do anything now we'll call you when the parts are in. Haven't heard anything else.

Dan anymore when the weatherman is predicting ice I'm going to stay home. Glad you didn't take out anything on your way around.

London what do you think of your Impala? Safe travels.

Okay today is go buy a backhoe day. Hope I'm successful. Have a good day everyone.

Mawn'in all

Like Mike said weather wise

Mike ya need to fill de bed up with firewood or concrete blocks

Busy crazy day yesterday. Phone ringing off de hook with families needing help.

Unfortunately got a call from a friend in de mountains and his [our] buddy was found dead outside his home No one knows WTF happened so I guess the ME [medical examiner]will let us know in a day or 2. Slipped and fell or heart attack or sum'in. Helped me out for years, Know his whole family [all 9 of them] When their folks passed the cut up the family farm and gave it to the children that still live up on Chimney mountain. Everyone of them could do carpentry, electrical, plumbing and then go home and repair a broken transmission. Then kill an skin a deer, bear or wild boar.

Welp Have a great day Olds friends

Good morning everyone

Well the snow and wind are here! We have 3.5 inches already but with the blowing it looks more like 6 or more.

Dan, isn't winter driving fun? I'm debating if I'm going out in it today or not.

Mike, most of the visits are for different things. The only exceptions are the corrosion on the bottom of the hood twice and the radio display twice (LED, not the touchscreen) since it seems that if you clean the display the coating on it starts to crack up like spider webbing on old paint. The other things I've taken it in for are: both outside mirror puddle light lenses, rust on the underside of the trunk lid, the finish on one wheel going bad, stabilizer links and the driver's side seatbelt holder arm.

Sorry to hear about your friend Jamesbo.

Wow, board full of all kinds of news today. Dan, good thing I told you to be safe out there, else you'da' run off the road 4 sure. So glad you made it through in 1 piece.

Mike, thanks for the kind words. We're blushing. 'Twas great to see you and catch up! Hope the lasagna was at least comparable to your Mom's -- I know that would be a compliment to the Better Half's culinary skill. Oh, and I forgot to give you the apple fritter "to go"! We'll prolly have a few frozen next time you come, so we can even that out then. Those tires of yours prolly take about 60 lbs of air, too, eh? That wouldn't help uphill wet traction with no load, neither. And BTW, we'll take your winch idea under advisement.

Jamesbo, sad to hear of your buddy. How old was the poor guy? Maybe he was spared a long, protracted, painful death in the future. Sounds like a "salt of the earth" kind of guy & family.

Mike and I want to try and go back to Dillard house some time before the spring. I know you're a hard man to pin down, Jamesbo; but if you have any interest, please give us a sign. Scot, that goes double for you.

Whelpt, went out and ran my errands this morning: Ingles, Home Despot, gas, etc., etc., etc. What a bluebird day up in the hills, to quote a certain board moderator.

Y'all have a fab 5th day of Christmas, Oldsmobuddies.
