Welp, back in November, when we had our first snow, I slipped in the driveway, and twisted my ankle pretty good, I blew it off and put up with an occasional twerk and pop, well, it kept bothering me, and it was sore around my Achilles tendon. Comma alert comma alert! I went in a couple of weeks ago for a look see, and therapy was set up, with my first appointment two days ago, whereupon the physical therapist noted a problem with a tendon so, scheduled a visit back today with the ankle specialist...and I gotta have surgery to repair the tendon, and will not be allowed on my feet (except for showers and going from the bed to the recliner, and to my computer ) for four weeks, with total time of inconvenience of 7 to eight weeks. He dosen't have any openings until April, so I will get with my insurance and Alcoa to see how long that I will have to be off before coming back to work w/restrictions. If this were work related, they'd have me back in a week to keep workers comp $$ down. But i will get it scheduled in the next few days as the car show season starts in May...can't miss any of that after a shi!!y winter!

Hi everyone.

I only have one word. Yuck. Rain, sleet, cold, just yuck. Gonna be right at freezing tonight, that should make things interesting on the roads for the morning commute. Luckily I'll be commuting in the opposite direction of most folks.

Dan that's crazy about your foot. Hope you're not off all that long. When I hurt my foot at work years ago I was off for a week, then had to go in and be the office heyboy for a month. Doctor said I couldn't stand. So what did they have me doing? Running errands and standing at the filing cabinet doing filing. When I hurt my wrist years ago, they had me sweeping. Go figure. Shower, recliner, computer, doesn't sound like all that bad of a gig.

Darrell if you can see your dog often then that doesn't sound like too bad a deal. I hope you go see him often. I hope the little girl gets better, being perpetually sick is no fun.

Friday tonight. Have no idea what's in store. I know I have a bad lead. What's funny is I worked with this guy when he was a mechanic. He was always the first to screw around, hide, leave before we were supposed to. Now that he's lead he looks for ways to put the screws to guys. Eh, I can't worry about ****** like that. I just worry about me.

Okay time to go. Have a good evening everyone. I'd say we're on the downhill slide now but that might not be appropriate for the weather we're having.

Evening everyone, got some time today to do some much neglected work around the house and even polished up some of the trim pieces for the 85 Riv. Still don't have it back together but it doesn't matter with the bumper still at the plater anyway. Some of you asked me for pics, so here's a couple for ya:

Attachment 160204

Attachment 160205

If you notice, there is a huge mound of snow behind the Riv. I built a snow slide for the kids to go tubing on. There's a nice slope to it so you can ride it about 50-60 feet. I have to admit I've enjoyed it too.

Dan - sorry to hear about your ankle, hope you're able to get in sooner to get it taken care of.

Allan/Clint/Mike - it has been very heartbreaking. I've even taken some time off this week so far to spend more time with him. I hope to be able to see him at least 1 to 2x a week. Would love to do it everyday but it will not be possible.

Jamesbo - did you get your 3 inches? When was the last time you saw snow there?

Mawnin Rocket people

A brisk mawnin here at the ice palace. With wind chill it's only -28. Got the tags on both cars renewed yesterday after I picked up the boy at the bus station. Shocker! I walked in and the only peeps there were the counter staff. In and out in 5 minutes and 165.00 lighter. First time I've been to a no line no wait center. It was great!

Clint, ya dream ya slept in and did it? Don't wear yourself out. Are the rest of the chicks sold yet? BTW, how's yer *** doin? Earl... Cmon what were ya thinkin?

Darrell, paint looks really nice in the pics. Have you dry fitted the fillers yet?

Dan, uh what are ya thinkin? 3" is a gimme I believe. Golf is what I'm thinkin.

Jim, ok good to know. Was worried you was gittin depreshunned. Red dog would love it here, sep fer de cold mebbe.

Mike, guys like that seem to abound. It's called power tripping. Sorry to hear you got someone like that to work with.

Well watch for mor oil being shipped by train since de monkey in de big White House vetoed Keystone. Hope no one is going to get hurt cause there will be derailments and fires for sure. Locally gas prices just went up .40/US gallon or 45.4/Imperial (metric) gallon. I don't get it.

Not going out today unless I have to. The cozy fireplace and PVR awaits. First, hot fresh ________. Fill in de blank. Enjoy your day.

Mike, did you decide on a car?

Clint, Denver was in our news due to the snow ....did you get the same ?

Allan, are pipelines safer than trains for haulin oil etc?

Darrel, that Riv looks sharp

There is a 83 HO up here 4 sale...tempting, but I think I have enough projects for now.

The two other guys that I share my shop with are into it with a guy that tends to hang around and waste time....I am stayin clear and let them duke it out:rolleyes,

Ted, think Lac Megantic. Not only that but other derailments and spills, loading, unloading, fires, explosions make rail shipping hazardous. Right now rail tank cars are sub standard.thats already documented by the TSB. Also with high rail traffic comes insufficient track inspections and bad rail wear. So in one word? Yes. Pipelines are safer. I'm sure there are arguments contrary, but I'll stick with pipelines any day, even though they have been targeted by environmentalists as a scourge. I don't believe that though.

Hi everyone.

Sunny out and almost 50. We didn't get any snow, I think the coldest it got was 36. Rain stopped early. I was definitely expecting much more.

Slept a little longer than I wanted to, but I'm off tonight. My sister started her job in Alpharetta and she's supposed to call me this afternoon so I can run up and meet her for dinner tonight. She will probably give me a time so I can sit in all the rush hour traffic. Eh that's okay, I won't get much done today anyway.

Ted I'm still looking but haven't found anything to my liking. I kinda think I might hold off, though, so I have a little more money for something I'm trying to cook up. I should just take my own advice and buy a Saturn.

Darrell if the boy is safe and has a good place to live and you can still see him, I'd say you did okay. At least you weren't trying to peddle him on craigslist. The Riv looks nice. I'm not usually partial to red but that's striking.

Well instead of having the bad lead last night I had the frazzled old man lead. We didn't get the plane until midnight, and still got out around 5. Not bad. Loaded an update into the FMC, changed the tailcone, did a brake system leakdown test, kicked it out.

Okay gotta make something of this day.

Hey everyone. Another day in the 20's here with flurries. Seems to be the norm this month.

Mike - no I never could have just sent our pup anywhere, couldn't do that to a family member. My daughter went to the doctor today, and his comment was that hopefully we can try to bring him back in 6 weeks. It's going to take 3 weeks for her to be weaned off the steroids. We'll see how she does.

Sammy - thanks for the complement! I've had to put a lot of work into her to get it that nice.

Speaking of cars, I had someone show me a 85 Monte SS that was really clean for $3,500. I have too many projects too + the trouble I would be in bringing it home with me.

Allan - yes I did dry test the fillers and they fit very well. The fit and finish of them is much better than the previous reproductions.

Have a good night all.

Mornin all.

Darrell I hope she comes thru this alright and your pup can come back. Dang kids and their problems. Mine went to the doc for a check up and had a panel done. But they are also checking for antibodies as she may have been exposed to Q fever. They did a C section on a sheep last week. Twins. neither made it and one had been dead a while. I sure love the color of the Riv.

Mike was that on the airbrakes? lol I crack myself up. How about a GN? Fun to drive and decent mileage. The missus thinks their ugly

Ted. It was a miserable drive home on Wednesday night. It's not like it was out of the ordinary. Just a slow news cycle I guess. I'm with Jamesbo and don't watch the news or weather on TV. They make it too dramatic. We got just under a foot. And they are calling for 3-6" more over the weekend.

The little Toyota just does its job without much complaining. I am getting a funny popping noise under a hard turn. I need to shake down the ball joints just in case.

Allan. Nope it was still work. And last night I was delivering hay in my uncles 442 that he drove out from Ohio (the white one I grew up wanting)
Sheesh. Chick sales are finally slowing down. looks like the missus is finally gonna be able to bring some home. Earl is a bit cranky with the cold. Actually all the critters are.

Have a weekend all.

Mornin All,

Yup, cold and sunny

Clint, I usually do not watch news/ weather much anymore either. Still like the local paper. For the weather I find my 50 yr old barometer tells me enough with the hype

Allan, I tend to agree, and your expertise adds to my viewpoint. Just too many things to go wrong with the rail system, and this has been shown again and again historically.

Mike, watcha cookin?

Darrel, the HO was 3000$ , but if I brought it home I would have been sleeping in it

Going to crank on the heat today and do some organizing. Getting ready to put the 307 in the 442....

Have a Day All

Good morning everyone.

Sunny and frosty this morning. So far no drama, I don't watch the news, either.

I watched a movie once that had an airplane as part of the plot, and they played air brake noises when it would stop. Lame. Actually the 727 had a "last chance" brake that was compressed air. If you needed to stop and you didn't have any hydraulics, you could twist this handle and it would shoot compressed air into the brake lines. I understand it worked pretty well. What we were doing was checking to make sure the hydraulic valves weren't bypassing. Test passed.

Ted all I want to say right now is I'm working on an alternate means of supporting myself. If it works out, and there's no reason I can see that it wouldn't, I'll let you all in on it. Right now it's in the infant stages. Stay tuned.

So no dinner with my sister last night. She said she wasn't feeling well and that we could get together next week. So I had some shrimp scampi my neighbor gave me.

Clint I think the Grand Nationals look pretty good. Any car in black is gonna look good. I'm trying not to spend that much. I've upped my search to 3500 and still getting mostly dogs. I keep coming back to that van. I guess I'm gonna have to go look at it and see for myself if it has bottom end noise. The guy was either being purposely evasive(though why would he mention it in the first place) or he has no clue. Anyone know any performance upgrades for a 318?

Okay Awful house. Dogs need their shots today, stuff needs to be taken over to the shop, best get going. Have a good day everyone.

Morning , snort,hack,cough....

Still cold but only a dusting of snow.

Jim, drive careful and stay out from where dat tree will be comin down.

Clint, what a waste for that 442. I remember seeing pics of it. Now it's a hay hauler? Sad. Good one on the air brakes! how many chicks you looking to get for yoursel? Nice winter coats ya got fer the pups. So the Yota is chucking on corners? Front transfer case fluid?

Mike, what kind of Saturn were you thinking? Another SL or maybe an SW?

Dan, when's the surgery going to happen? April seems to be too long to wait, must be some way to speed that up so you're not in pain. Gonna be tough on you after though not being able to be on it. You'll prolly get some massive arm workouts using those crutches though. 62 meelyun and counting...

Scot, when's the resto on Louise going to start? It would be cool to be there for the tear down and find any Fisher cards inside. Maybe you'll be the lucky first one to find a "build sheet"

New survey says 80% of wimmen would refuse this kind of gift. (Hint, involves travel) what is it?

Hot koffee awaits, enjoy your day.

Good Mawnin All

Al it would be nice to find something but if I do I am sure it will be a broadcast card. I've looked good under the dash, the back seat has been out by my Grandfather and myself, the headliner is torn, etc... I know the front seats have never been out nor the carpet, the front seat backs or the gas tank. I'd take the seat backs off if I knew how to pop that push button out without messing it up.

Could you imagine the MAWs I'd be dealing with if I were to restore Louise. Been thinking about refinancing my rental house though. I stand to gain a few points off of the fixed interest rate it is currently. Hmmm.

Have a great Friday all

Scot, could also be behind a kick panel or stuffed under the package shelf. Haven't had my headliner out cause it's perfect still. But one day it'll come out and I'll also install some fat mat up there for sound insulation.

Don't spend money unnecessarily when it's tight. If Louise were mine, she'd never be for sale. Sort of like how mine is in the same boat since it was my Dads car. He never did a factory order though. Only car I ever factory ordered was my 85 FWD Calais. It was loaded to the gunnels. Had to get the tech 4 for the 5 speed gearbox though. It was a great car but it took almost 7 months to arrive at Stedelbauer's.

That's why it's so special to me and won't change owners. Not sure how to take those buckets apart. Haven't seen it in the 72 FBM. I'd like to know how to get the hickey sticks off the A52 seats without damaging the acorn nut.

Darrell, just noticed the pinstripes on the Riv. Are they painted on like the originals?

Scot, I would think that the best chances of a broadcast card are under the carpet, if it was not found under the rear seat area.

Good evening/afternoon all.
Hope you are all keeping warm.
Beautiful day in London, mid 50s and sunny all day. Shorts went on for the first time this year, hopefully they can stay till October.
Took the Mitsubishi for its yearly MOT. Not sure what they equivalent is over your side of the water, but it's a road worthiness certificate.
It passed with nothing needed to be done, which is great. It means I can spend more on the cutlass.
Does anybody know where I can get a T bar gear **** in aluminium with no writing on it?

B-d-d-ding! A quick chime in on the oil transport issue.
Think the earth...the oil will be burned.
Rail transport is under the microscope now, due to the condition of the infrastructure (rail and all that) in addition to the state of the rolling stock.
A pipeline would have risks, but manageable, considering the all new components.

Can't wait to bring the cars out of storage.

Oops! One last thing. In all the pipeline debate and the discussion thereof, the topic of "a North American source of oil" has never come up.
The pipeline opponents are missing the point of once burned-twice shy.

Jerry - Absolutely! Much as I love rail, I think the pipeline is the way to go. Better to burn the oil in cars than in a rail disaster.

London - you looking for something like a hurst shifter, but plain?
Something like these or are you looking for texture/leather wrap?

Thanks Allan.
That pretty much what I'm after but ideally without the button (unless I fit some nitro!!)
Or am I being a bit stupid and the button is to shift it out of gear?

London, the spring button is actually part of a shift lock release - not a nitro application.

I was afraid of that too Dan. I bet that power 4-way driver's bucket seat weights a ton

I have the window sticker but i thought it might be cool to make up a mock "build sheet" with as many codes and #'s that would've been on the original one(s). I'm sure mine was a few pages worth Especially the part in the middle, where they have the RPOs spelled out.

Hey all. Just got home this evening. Had a tennis match earlier, which is always fun. Need to work off the weekly stress, certainly has been enough this week.

Clint - sorry to hear about the sheep. I'm sure that's very upsetting to see that happen.

Thanks for the complement on the Riv. I figured you would like Red, LOL.

I'm a huge Grand National fan too, but just not in the cards for me now. Would have to get rid of a couple of things to get one of those, which I really don't want to do. I was at GM Carlisle last year, and there was a white Regal T-Type with Burgundy interior. Engine had a couple of mods and it was a low 11 sec car without spray. Mild mannered and fully streetable. Unbelievable.

Sammy - I understand about the H/O. I drive a lot for my job and I see lots of cool looking stuff for sale and I need to remind myself not to look twice, otherwise I keep getting myself into trouble.

Have a good night all.

Mornin all.

Darrell. It's all part of her job. She has a lot of things to deal with that are very unpleasant, but she sure likes that job. Talking about turbo's I know its kind of a Ferd, but holey sheet!

Dan. Hope its a quick and full heal on the heel. Have you got someone lined up to peel your grapes and wave the palm fronds?

The kid has had to borrow the Cheeby the past few days because her car "wouldn't make it out of the Driveway" Well I'm not sure about that but I noticed a little tranny fluid on the driveway. I bet it's a cooler hose starting to leak.

Looks like all my Dirtbike friends are trying to burn all the old dinosaurs to heat up the Atlanta area tonight. If I were in the area, I'd haul all of you to the Georgia dome for some wobbly pops and racin.

Have a day all.

Mornin All,

Cold a sunny...

Clint, cool vid. Amazing what they have to do to make a Ferd exciting. I am all for leaving diesels in the field

Darrel, a friend took me for a rip in a Buick Regal T type....it had a few engine upgrades...man did it ever go. He would not sell it

Allan, I think my wife would go just about anywhere right now. With her father passing, job change and the commute she does everyday I pretty sure she needs a break. Even our trip to NO, is being combined with her work

Mike, keep us in the loop

Log truck is here...better go and pay the man!

Have a Day All

Ted, condolences to your wife. I know that's tough to lose a parent. Congrats to her for the new job. Hope you guys both enjoy NO regardless of the situation. Life is what you make it.

Sounds like the wood splitting business is picking up with all the cold weather?
