Allan in all actuality the Saturn is barely worth a full tank of gas. But it goes beyond the car. Remember this is the car my best friend gave me, and not one time goes by when I get in it that I don't think of him. Of all the other stuff I have sitting around this is the car I prefer to drive. The other cars have their roles but the Saturn is the one I go to without thinking, it's the one I went in to Florida to get my dogs, it's the one I drove home from California, gone to Florida multiple times, been to Chicago. I remember when it was new. We've been plenty of places and there's lots of history. When my friend said I could have it I was thrilled and honored that he thought that much of me. Actually his wife just wanted it gone, but now she tells me that was her favorite car and wishes they'd have kept it. It would only not be worth it if I tried to sell it, and I don't see that happening. And besides, it's the High Saturn.

The engine burns quite a lot of oil and the valve cover also leaks a lot. At this point, I don't even bother because it's all getting redone. I've got a list of other things to do while it's in overhaul. It's gonna be like a C check. I'm pretty excited, actually.

Rain stopped for awhile but now has started again. The dogs are surprisingly calm. I got the stove to start using wet wood and now it's close to 80 in here. The furnace won't come on now the rest of the night, which will save me a few bucks.

Guess I should get out of my jammies. My neighbor called and she's fixing fried rice and her rule is I have to have on regular clothes to get food. I can see that.

See ya's.

Yikes, sounds like you're married to it. I bought ours for my wife so she'd get rid of her Firefly. The Saturn at the time was rated with very good to excellent crash protection, and reasonable fuel mileage. She still likes the car but I don't - in fact I'd like nothing better than to be rid of it. Not even my son will drive it. IMO it's a piece of crap that GM won't even stand behind. Hoping the engine craters on it so I can get her to think about a better car - like a new Sonata, Yota, Honda, or Kia.

Wow that's harsh. I'm not married to it, I like that it reminds me of the people I love. I will say that it has proven to be an exceptional car and I'd have another one in an instant if I found that I needed something on that order.

Mike, I can understand how cars get sentimental value. If it's worth it to you, then it's worth it!

As fer brewski's, I haven't had one in over 20 years (a decision I made); but in my drinkin' days, my preferred "cheap" brand was Bud... and it still prolly would be. I liked Michelob a little better, but didn't drink it often. A lady I dated before I met my better half loved Rolling Rock. I thought it tasted like ap-cray, but that was just me. Never did really like Heineken, which is my sis-in-law's beer of choice. But whatever I was drinkin', it would never have been anything with a "Light" or "Lite" in the title. Same as soft drinks -- please don't put a Diet ANYTHING in front of me if you like me.

Anyhoots, I don't really see that many Michelob commercials nowadays. I wonder if it's as popular as it once was....

My family (my "old" family -- parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) would love whatever was cheapest. If you can't be with the beer you love, love the beer you're with.

I think the first whole beer I ever drank was a Schlitz. But I ramble again....

Sleep tight, all...

Evening everyone. Spent most of today raking leaves. They pretty much all decided to come down at once, lucky me.

Yesterday it was my daughters birthday party. We played lazer tag and had a great time. Its a lot of fun to do, if you ever get the chance.

Mike - I can understand why you would want to fix up the car. Sentimental value you can't put a price on and they were pretty reliable and durable little cars.

Allan - Being an Olds fan, I'm kind of surprised to hear you only being interested in foreign cars.

Clint - Don't see too many cans like that anymore. I know I don't miss those leaky spouts you had to stick in them!

Have a good night all.

With the frustrations of the intermittently missing the "remember me" check box that is my typical start to the day...There's my rant, and I promise to stay off the soapbox!
The finding portable devices discussion a while back reminds me of my situation, with a difference. We pulled the plug on our land line a while ago such that if my better half is at work with her phone, and my phone is in an unknown location, I can't call my phone to find it!! Very frustrating.
Of course, with the brain cancer that has taken part of my memory, my ability to drive, and sense of balance (among other things), the phone thing is teeny tiny in comparison.
The good thing is that the most recent MRI/neuro oncologist visits show a stable situation, so from MRI to MRI, on we go.
I hope this post comes thru...I may have been timed out.

Mornin all.

Cutlassdad. came thru loud and clear. Stable sounds good at this point. steady as she goes.

Darrell, I still have a spout or 2 laying around as well. More stuff I can't seem to part with.

Mike you need to do both the Engine and Trans at the same time. Everything (including the frame) Comes out thru the bottom. Then when the subframe is on the ground then you can go ahead and separate the trans from the motor.

Allan, Thanks. And she wasn't even clean yet. It was too cold to hand wash here at home. She was dusty and had a couple bug splatters on her. I took her (and the 2 trucks) down to a carwash. The trucks got the foaming brush but Brit just got the wand. I was able to do all 3 for $15.

You can keep them picker people out east(or wherever the are from). I do know where there is a Packard in a barn, that hasn't seen the light of day since probably the early 70's. It's covered in about 3/4" of dust. I don't think it's one of the sought after ones. IIRC is was a 50's super clipper.

Well everyone have a great Monday. Hope everyone is well.

Morning everyone.

Nice day shaping up, it's 33* so I expect it will be sloppy om the streets. No point in washing the cars till it freezes again.

Mike, I apologize if that upset you and no offense intended. It may have seemed harsh but I'm basing my comment on our Saturn which has been a disappointment in the long run. Replacing things like the alternator or idler tensioner are not that easy. It's been through 6 sets of front brakes in 95k miles! 3 sets were OEM and done in the first 3 years we had it. Also been through 4 O2 sensors, EGR valve and 4 sets of plugs, 2 sets of plug wires, 3 mufflers. Really? I appreciate the sentimental value you attach to your Saturn. But it just isn't there for me, especially after the disappointing service they failed at while the car was newer and the unusually higher than average maintenance issues of parts that last much longer on other brands. I just refuse to put anything more into a car that's not worth anything. Costs more to insure and run each year than it's worth.

Darrell, Olds is one thing but even some of their later offerings weren't thrilling. Why am I focused in the imports? Simple, they have better track records than GM. Nothing from GM excites me and their service sucks. (And that's based on my experiences dealing with them) My Sonata has been totally reliable, and the Hyundai dealer and service department treat me with respect and deliver on time and with fair pricing. Ever look at other vehicles on the road? More of them are imports than domestic. There's a reason for that.

Jim, you still out whackin whitey or have the courses shut down there? If yer still in the mountains, enjoy your walk wit red dog.

Koffee time now. Enjoy your day.

Hi everyone.

Just got back from South Carolina. Picked up the Camaro and man did my neighbor's friend do a nice job. He touched up the paint under the hood, cleaned everything, and it drives nice and has good brakes. My neighbor even said he might go tomorrow to get a new set of tires. The ones on there now are only 22 years old.

Was a beautiful day here and in Anderson, and in between. Nice to have the windows down and no heat on. Rain is supposed to come back tomorrow.

Allan I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sorry you've had such trouble with your Saturn. From what I've heard over the years the S series cars have been pretty good cars. Most of the ones I see in the junkyard have north of 200K on the odometer.

Clint I love Packards. My favorite is the 50 Clipper, followed by the 55-56 Patrician-type. I'd love to happen upon a barn some time and open the door and see something cool that has been lost to time.

Guess I'll get the stove going and settle in for the evening. I need to plan for tomorrow so I don't just walk around in circles. Have a good night everyone.

Evening all!

Had a warm but windy day here today. It was 57* when I got up this morning. It got up to 60 - I was expecting to see the crocus in bloom, lol. Felt like spring! Too windy though.... gusts over 50 mph. I brought in some of my yard decorations this morning. Put extra clips on my garden flags. Picked up a few little scarecrows that had blown out of the ground and across the yard, when I got home tonight. Of course it was dark, so I don't really know what may be where yet! I'll check it out in the morning.

Worked 8 hours today. I did have to leave at 12:30 to go for my yearly check up with my female doctor, and I got back to work at 2:15. My doc liked my new *****, lol. I still haven't heard from the surgeons office with a date yet....

I haven't missed driving the 5:00 500 down Rt. 91 these past few months, lol. I forgot how wonderful the rush hour is! Not.

So Steve told us today that the place in Hudson they picked for our Christmas dinner doesn't take reservations! He didn't like that. He doesn't want to chance just walking in and maybe having to wait an hour. So he decided we'll go to the nice place in Akron - where I wanted to go but wasn't given a say in it. He said he'll call and make reservations. Made me happy!

I had the best weekend that I've had in a long time! Maybe it's just because my mind set has changed, (thanks to Joel and his uplifting, inspiring sermons) maybe it's God's favor (as Joel talks about.... and please don't say anything to dis Joel) I know we're not to talk about religion on here, but I swear I've been so much more happier? At peace in my mind? I don't know what to call it, but since I've started listening to him, I'm changed for the better. I'm more like my old self from years ago. I have my joy back that I let others take away from me with their negativity, sarcasm, meanness, etc.... And I am liking it! I'm excited about things again!

The weekend started out Friday night when Larry told me to pick 2 five dollar scratch off tickets from the lotto machine at Giant Eagle. I picked 2 of the Lucky Holiday times 10 tickets. We won $100.00!! That was favor!! Then on the way out of the store, Larry bought a $20 scratch off from the machine. He usually buys one every week. He scratched it off when we got home. Another $100.00!!! That has never happened in all the years we've been buying tickets. We've never won a hundred bucks back to back like that. Favor!

Saturday I schlepped down 14 containers of Christmas decorations out of the garage, loaded them one by one into my new birthday cart and pulled them across the muddy snowy yard to the deck, unloaded them and stacked them in the breezeway. I was able to lift, bend, stretch, walk without any pain or problems.

Yesterday was soooo nice! Sunny in the morning and in the 60's. Larry asked me if I wanted to go with him to some store and I told him no, I wanted to walk the road and look in the ditches and yards for my Cardinal flag that blew away last week. I already told you that I walked through Steve's yard next door and around the yard last week looking for it but I couldn't find it, remember? Something told me to look for it yesterday. So I went up the road to 91 looking on the right side, came back down looking at the left side, nothing. I did see a plastic bucket liner in the ditch 2 houses past Steve's house that looked like one out of my little pumpkin buckets that I put fall flowers in. They've blown over several times out here, but I just pick them back up and stick the flower pots back in them. So I came home and looked in the buckets and sure enough, one of the liners was gone! So I walked back down and got the liner out of the ditch. I decided to go ahead and walk back through Steve's yard again and look at the fence between him and the house beside his, thinking maybe it blew up against the fence and got caught. So I schlepped through the mushy yard and it wasn't against the fence. I kept walking back through his yard, and there in a big puddle of water was my flag, laying in that puddle all straight and flat like I had put it there or something!!! I was so happy! I brought it home and put it back on the holder and put 2 clips on it! I put the liner back in the bucket. So I found my flag and something else I didn't even know was missing! Favor! I must have walked right by that flag last week when I went looking for it.

Then I debated about going to the car wash with Tincanio. The salt on her was making me crazy, but I figured it would be packed, since it was so nice out. I decided to go. So after I have her all clean, I'm drying her, and listening to this family with 3 young boys, probably under 8 years old. They're by the vacuums. They were dressed like they just came from church, and the dad was giving each little boy a job to do, lol. In a few minutes, the boys came walking over to me and asked if I needed any help drying my car! No one has ever asked if I needed any help at the car wash in all my years, lol. I told them no I didn't need help but thank you anyway. I only had 4 ones left after turning in the bills for quarters, and I wanted to get an icee on the way home, which is 95 cents, but I wanted to give them each a dollar just because they touched my heart with their kindness. I walked over to the mom and asked her if I could do that, and at first she said no, it wasn't necessary, they were blessed. I told her I was blessed also and explained what I've been through, and what a wonderful job they were doing raising those boys, and that they just touched my heart by offering to help me and I really wanted to give them a dollar. So she said I could and told them what I wanted to do. I thanked each of them for their thoughtfulness and told them to keep it up, that helping people is such a good thing to do! They thanked me so much! Brought tears to my eyes, lol. The parents hugged me, asked me if I know God and I said yes I do, he's put me in the right places this past year, he directed me to Dr. D'Johann at the Cleveland clinic way back last January when I made up my mind to have the mastectomies and read about the surgeon, he gave me the strength and endurance I prayed for while going through the chemo, I wouldn't be where I'm at right now without his mercy and favor. But for the grace of God go I!! So I met some nice people that I wouldn't have met had I stayed home! The rest of my day was pretty good too. A great weekend.

Nicole came home Thursday night around 10. She got Nick to the airport and he's in Florida now. She left late Friday evening to go back to Indy. I guess her and Jon are getting along alright so far. They're supposed to get here Thanksgiving day in time for dinner. I hope they make it! She said Jon did take those cats back to where they got them, and the place refunded all their money.

Well I've rambled long enough so I guess I better get off here and get to bed. Talk to you later.

Hi everyone. Guess I got the early worm since I'm still up.
Made it up into the low 60's yesterday so I got to enjoy one more day of warm weather.

Allan - sorry to hear about the problems that you've had with your Saturn. There have definitely been some lemons produced by different manufacturers and it sounds like you got stuck with one.

Just sitting here now watching all the riots taking place across the country, hope everyone is safe. They are showing Ferguson on TV, and I can't believe all the anarchy taking place there. Fires, looting, gunfire, it seems like no one was prepared for the situation.

Well, off to bed, hopefully tomorrow will be better for that town.

Mornin all.

Darrell. Crazy times we live in. Sad state of affairs that those poor businesses (who had nothing to do with the shooting or the G. jury) are burnt to the ground.

Sandy I'm so glad you had a good weekend. I hope it continues to improve.

The S series Saturns were good for the most part. The biggest problem we had with them is once they were overheated they used oil like mad.I have a customer that has 260K on his and doesn't check his oil near often enough. He comes in every 5K for a service and I drain maybe a quart out of it.

Hey Mike how bout a pic of the Camaro?

Have a day all.

Hi everyone.

Lazy day today. Got up with the dogs and decided the Awful house wasn't for me. Went back to bed until my neighbor called and wanted to go to breakfast. We usually go to this diner that's in town that's pretty good.

Clint this is a 68 Camaro. I don't think it's a real SS. It is non original motor, converted from automatic to 4 speed. Even a color change from green to maroon. He swears it is but has no paperwork. Eh, he likes it so I don't say anything. It is a nice looking car, though.

Sandy that was nice of you to talk with those people at the car wash. Those kids might not realize it now, but that will stick with them and help shape them into upstanding people down the road. I know the parents appreciated you recognizing their hard work of raising them right.

Okay headed out. See ya.

Morning everyone.
Can't believe the rioting for not indicting a police officer. How does the looting and violent property damage justify anything? Stuff is getting out of control.

Yesterday was so nice and mild but the car is a God awful mess covered with slush and road spray. Good thing I have 7 gallons of washer fluid in the garage. It's snowing now and colder so everything is frozen again. Only problem is the airhead drivers that come out after every snowfall. Thankfully I don't have to deal with that till after rush hour.

Jim, sorry ta hear. What does a goat score?

Cutlassdad, can't begin to imagine the horror you've gone through. Keep on fighting the good fight. Did you miss your land line? We're thinking of ditching ours. Just doesn't seem to make sense paying for 3 cells and a home phone. The home line is on a bundled package and seems cheap at only 20/month.

Darrell/Mike/Clint, I know there were a lot of Saturns sold. This car was the first model year old the new SL line and was bought new in 96. We drove it off the showroom floor when we picked it up. Consumer reports recommended the car, but noted it had a lackluster and coarse 1.9 SOHC engine with a ground thumping 100hp. The SOHC also had a noted history of head gasket failure which was covered by a hidden warranty that most zone reps wouldn't approve when asked to. The DOHC was reported to be more power, but less fuel efficient and only offered in the upscale SL2, which wasn't in the budget at the time. Live and learn I guess. Yes, a lot of them in the boneyard are higher mileage, but that's not the best indicator of reliability. Maybe I did get one of the lemons, but Saturn and GM haven't done anything positive to instill any confidence in buying from them again. FWIW I would seriously look at only one NA brand, and that would be the blue oval.

Coughee's ready so potter patter. Not looking forward to de commute to the curling rink today. Enjoy your day.

Mernin', all

Fairly decent day down here in the Swamp [SLASH] Plantation. 'Twas 48 and very over cast, so we decided to go for a nice long walk in Ponchatoula Park. Went three laps, which took about 70 minutes. I hear a lot of things from better half I might not ordinarily hear, so that's good too.

Jamesbo & Darrell, I'm mit U as far as the rxn to the news. Fairly speechless... jes makes no bloomin' sense atol. I'll leave it at that. I guess the actual announcement was somewhat dulled b/c I had the gall to think in the 3rd quarter, the Saints might actually win last night. Ha! This is the first 3-game stretch played at home they've lost since '97, and that had been the only one since '67 -- their first season. Man, this is a tough season for the Boys in Black & Gold.

Washed the Avalon real good yesterday (first time since GA) and wow... it looks perdy nice...

Sandy, so happy for you! I've always been a closet Joel fan. He'll be at the Smoothie King Center (N.O.) a week from Friday, and I'm sure he'll pack 'em in. He's really a combo preacher and motivational speaker, and he has charisma he doesn't know what to do with... although he puts a great deal of it to excellent use. I've always wished him well, and hoped he has no skeletons in his closet, which have historically been the ruin of folks of his popularity. God bless him and all his watchers....But it's so good to hear you talking like your old self again. One question: I should know, I'm sure, but what is your upcoming surgery? Please feel free to speak in broad generalities.

Nice 'Maro, Mike. BTW, did you get the second 'Politan over to the new property?

Jamesbo, I've heard there are a few goats with a mean putt... .

General "auto" interest -- I guess this is what I'd do if I had millions:

Whelp, have a fab day of Tiu, Oldsmofriends.

Land Line Delete

We haven't missed the land line at at all. Compared to the continuous 'buy my product' and 'vote for my candidate' calls , particularly in an election year, the phone has been blessedly silent.

After surgery (the biopsy-tough when its in your head), radiation, and 8 months of chemo, of 12, my stable condition is heaven sent.

A dusting to 5 inches (13 cm) of snow around here last night. Welcome winter, 'tho that doesn't mean I like it. West winds meant we missed the lake effect that buried Buffalo.

A good afternoon to all.

Holy cow. I thought breakfast with my neighbor could last an hour tops, but I just got home. While we're eating he says, lets go get tires for the Camaro. Now ordinarily I would have said nah, I got things to do, but trying to get him to buy tires is like pulling teeth. The ones on there are 22 years +, but they have good tread so he says they're still good. So suddenly the trans won't go into 3rd. My God you'd think the world had come to an end. The tire place didn't have what he wanted, so we went back home, got the car up on stands, and I saw that the shifter rod was hitting the exhaust, not allowing 3rd. He finds this place thirty minutes away that replaces that section of exhaust. I say, this is a good place but I wish it were closer to home. He says, it's only thirty minutes, where we promptly exit into an hour's worth of traffic. Then stop at Summit. Well, this is what I wished for, that he'd get out more and that we would spend more time together.

Jamesbo this isn't the first day off that I've skipped Awful house, but they are few and far between.

No John, still just the one car over at the shop. I need to clear out some space behind the shop so I can tow over my parts cars. No real pressing reason to get anything over there, just that I want to get things going. I need to learn how to acquire 100LL. Don't know if the cars run any better on it but it smells good.

Well gotta get something to eat. Gonna hit Walmart about 11 tonight. Work tomorrow.

Evening all!

Cold and gray here today. In the 30's. Sure would be nice to see the sun! Weather would be bearable if we had some sun on a regular basis through these months. I see there's a storm going to hit the east coast, it should miss us. Only calling for an inch or two here on Thanksgiving.

Houston is shutting down at noon tomorrow, hopefully we will be able to leave too! Usually we get out around 3:00. I have to make the deviled eggs and bake the pies when I get home. I boiled the eggs tonight.

John.... good to hear that you like Joel too!! His speaking is just so upbeat! He really does lift my spirits with his positiveness. I'd love to see him. If I ever get down to corporate in Houston, I hope I can attend Lakewood. Larry says "he's just too happy. No one is that happy all the time". Well just because Larry isn't happy and is more negative than positive, doesn't mean that someone can't actually enjoy their job or what they do, and look at the glass as half full! I used to. I used to be positive and optimistic, and through the years it just got worn away. I haven't attended church regularly in years, but I've always had faith. Always. I know there is a higher power and it's been proven to me by the things that's happened in my family. Linda is still alive when she shouldn't be. I got 23 years after a cancer diagnosis the first time. And there is a lot more... I am a believer! As for the surgery, he has to fix, trim, adjust some things. All part of the process, nothing new happening. From what I've read from others, those things are usually done about 3 months after the initial surgery. I want to get it done soon, and be done with all this!!

Mike.... even though it was frustrating for you, you did a good thing with your neighbor. You brought some happiness to someone! That is a sweet Camaro!

Cutlass dad.... glad you are well! Blessings are a great thing! Today is 1 year since my visit with Dr. Smith, when he told me the mammogram found something and he did the biopsy. What a trying year it has been! But I'm ending this year on a much better note than I ended last year's! I am cancer free and healthy!!!!!!!

The protesters in Cleveland today on I-90..... ridiculous! Don't they realize we're all just people, no matter what color, leave the racial bull out of it! I don't think cops go around looking for kids to kill, black or white! Guns don't belong in the parks or playgrounds or wherever. Fake or real. They belong out in open fields where there are no people, if you have to have one. Again I wonder.... where are the parents? Why haven't they told their kids don't take a gun out in public, even if it is only a BB gun? They look real. And these cops have to live with what they've done the rest of their lives. I'm sure they take no pleasure realizing these kids won't ever graduate, won't ever get married, etc.... it's sad. It's not all racial. Nuff said.

So.... who uses a Summit Racing gift card on Christmas lights, lol? Me! I couldn't find anything for $25.00 that I wanted, but they had these nice Christmas lights for under $25.00 so I got them, lol. They are "Hotrod Hardware" brand, lol! I got them yesterday. They're really nice. They have 8 I think, different settings where you can make them change the way they blink, lol. Nevermind.... it's a girl thing!

Well you all have a good evening!

Hi everyone. A nice day with temps in the 50's. I had a plan of what I wanted to get done today, but that changed in a hurry.

I was in CVS and drove up to the parking lot exit and I was behind another car. Well, the driver forgot to get something and decided to just back up to get back to the parking spaces. I'm sure you can guess what happened. Fortunately or unfortunately, I was driving my 85 Riv. She had a Nissan Armada and told me she did not see me when backing up. She even had a rear view camera too..?

Most of her rear bumper went over my front bumper but even still, her truck got the worst of it. My grille trim cracked and the bottom of the front header got pushed back a couple of inches. Her rear bumper cover pretty much got wrecked. I took some pictures and I'll see if I can post them tomorrow.

She admitted that she was at fault and her insurance company will take care of the damage. I still called Grundy to tell them what happened, just to make sure they were in the loop. I worried that Allstate(her company), will say that my car is 29 years old and not worth anything. I hope I did the right thing by doing that.

Most importantly, the good news in all this is that no one was hurt. I'll keep you all updated.

Well, off to bed, have a good night all.

Mornin all.

Darrell thats a bummer. It'll probably be ok. As long as they don't assume you are opening a claim with them at this point. If she does flake out then you can proceed thru them and let them subrogate.

Sandy, I need to head over and pick up some lights for the shop. It's been years since I've decorated the shop. The newly formed town business committee is trying to get the whole mainstreet lit up. Maybe it will make me a little less grumpy. I don't know.

Mike. Thats a nice looking car. I'd be afraid to hit much of a bump with those meats on the back. Looks like they had a clearance sale on wheel opening on that thing.

John, Glad you and the missus are finally starting to get to know each other.

Jamesbo, Keep the TV turned off. Nothin good on it anyway.

Well the kid just got home (it was her night on call) they had a colic to deal with all night.

Have a Wednesday all.

I sure miss some intelligent news reports like J Fred Mugs.

But, I need to step down from my soap box and be thankful.

Morning everyone.

Curling practice yesterday went extremely well. Marc Kennedy was practicing at the same time and I got a chance to talk with him. Super nice guy.

Not much new here. Gotta go with de missus on de train later for a medical appointment. Have to use the train because parking is next to non existent there.

Darrell, hope it all works out and there are no challenges from Allstate. Do you have the car registered as a classic and a recent appraisal? That would likely help resolve any obstacles that may arise.

Jim, yeah news on de tube is getting downright annoying. You notice there's a lot of Christmas music on the radio especially in the morning now? Gonna git old wit dat purty fast.

Koffee time now. Enjoy your day

Hi everyone.

Time for night 1. I wouldn't think this week will be terribly heavy, with the holiday. The last thing any airline wants is to delay passengers during a holiday.

Darrell hope the Riv is fixed up quick and has no lasting effects.

About the only Christmas decorating I do anymore is lining up the Santa Coke cans on the kitchen counter when I drink them. I don't see much use putting up a Christmas tree when I don't have any presents to put under it. Besides the dogs would pee on it.

I should listen to that Joel guy some time. I used to like Dr. Charles Stanely but I got mad at him for something he said. And I couldn't even tell you now what it was, but when he comes on it just turns me off. I could use some positive and uplifting words.

Well time to hit it. Hope everyone has a good evening and doesn't drink too much. You know, Black Wednesday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone have a great day tomorrow.

Jamesbo - thanks. I feel the same way about all of you as well.

Gettin ready to watch some football and eat too much tomorrow. Have a good night all.

Evening All!

Another gray day here today, temps around 35*. Might get some snow tomorrow, but not much.

Turkey is all thawed out sitting in the fridge. Larry will get up early and put it in the oven. I made the deviled eggs this afternoon, got 2 pies baked.

Linda called me and wanted me to meet her and her friend in Streetsboro at he KMart, 1/2 way for both of us. She had made a no bake pumpkin pie for Larry. So I went out and got it. That was nice of her! We walked around in the store some, then I came home.

I had lunch with my Marc today. He missed my birthday so he wanted to take me to lunch. He had gotten me some Walking Dead scratch off tickets from Gawja, all I won was 2 free tickets, lol. We had a good visit. I had a pizza, so I had plenty of leftover for Larry to have for supper tonight. He was happy with the change in me! He knew me way back when I was my old self.

Mike.... Yes you should listen to Joel! He will inspire you! Channel 128 on Sirrus radio. He jokes, tells funny stories, it's not all just preaching. You'd enjoy it. I was looking at all the pretty wrapping paper I have, rolls and rolls of it, some not even opened in years. And it made me sad cause I really don't wrap much anymore. Just a few things. I remember when the tree was overflowing with gifts under it! It seems when Nicole got older, we started buying mostly gift cards. It's fun when there are kids to buy and wrap for. We don't seem to need many things as we get older, so there's not much to wrap. I still enjoy decorating and having the tree, though. I like pretty decorations.

Darryl... that sucks! I'm sorry to hear that happened. evidently she pays no attention to her back up camera, huh? Nicole's car has one of those. I tell her not to get dependent on it! Turn your head and look!!!

Well I guess I should get to bed. Going to be a long day and night, tomorrow. Jean wants to go shopping, so we'll be fighting all the crazies tomorrow night.

Happy Thanksgiving my friends! Count your blessings and be thankful for your family and friends. God puts people in our lives for a reason!! Have a great day tomorrow! Love ya!!

Morning

Good Morning (12:11am) All and happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate

Big snow storm finishing up in New England and its icy out there so all stay safe on your way to stuff our faces with turkey

Hopefully your Olds is garaged or at least put away for the winter. My dad just bought me a brand new car cover and a tent garage for my newest project so I certainly know I have many reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving

Enjoy your day and I am glad to have just joined this community

Happy Thanksgiving to all Oldsmofriends

Alex, welcome aboard! However, I'm still claiming the Thanksgiving worm. (I'm a little hungry this morning....)

Stuffed bird's in oven, but rest of menu is still in my head. Will get going on the baked macaroni, mashed 'taters, green bean casserole, and other savory delights, which will be on the table by around 1:00.

Dessert will be pecan pie (fresh made by better half) à la mode (three kinds of Blue Bell). Lord help the waistlines today.

p.s.: Allan, I'll just take the worm roasted w/ the bird! I would hardly be able to see it if I put it right next to the liver.

Morning everyone.

Werm? Don't see Jim or Clint on yet.

Snow has started and is Spoda be with us for the next two days. My brother came over last night with his GF and her Corolla. Took all of 20 minutes to change her over to ice radials. Yota did a good job designing the front and rear jack points so it was easy peasy to slide the big dolly jack under and do 2 wheels at a time. Clint, after a bit of searching I found a shop that sells new steelies for that model for only $45.00/ rim. Pretty good deal since Yota wanted $70.00/new rim and a recycle yard wanted $60.00/ rim for used ones. Anyhow, they're set for the winter now.

Edit: Dang you John! Beat me by one minute. You get de werm. Want it fried or baked? I already cleaned it and put spices on it.....

Darrell, sounds like you're insurance will work with you since they already have it registered as a classic. That's good news.

Mike, got any more stuff transferred to the new barn? Have the pups been out there yet to sniff out the digs? What's on the mornin menu at awful house today?

Happy thanksgiving to y'all. We had ours up here several weeks ago. Hope the day goes well for everyone. Time fer an early mornin koffee now! Too bad I'm up so dang early, probably will need a nap later.....Enjoy your day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy the turkey and football...I used to like it when John Madden hosted the games on Thanksgiving and they brought out a turkey with eight legs!

I'm thankful for a lot: health, family and friends, including all the great people here on CO!
