The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
I think you are right. that looks much closer to what we had. Also would explain why it flew in front of her truck when dark. No wonder I havent seen one before. It was way out of its habitat. The maps show a southern and eastern area, but not in Colorado.
Edit. It's definitely part of the nightjar family. Possibly a nighthawk of some sort.

Looks more like a Whip-Poor-Will....a night hunter that is rarely
seen.....and femainly on insects in flight...listed as threatened here in eds
Canada.
Hi everyone. Another beautiful day here in the Greater Stockbridge Area.
Yesterday I got the Cadillac dug out of its spot in the mudhole. Charged up the battery and moved it after a year of sitting under pine trees. Yuck. Today I took it to the Delta Sonic $6 special, and then right afterwards the coin op where I spent about eight bucks in quarters scrubbing with the foamy brush. It looks better but still has a bunch of crap on it. Alls I did is make the hail dents more noticeable. Then I took it to the trim shop and found out a new vinyl top will cost 900.
I think today I will go about cleaning out the carport. Again. Maybe do some yardwork.
Jamesbo your post is in cyberspace never to be seen again.
Have you's a good one everybody.

Jamesbo..... my nice long post from earlier isn't here either!
I'll start over.
Morning All!
Clouds and sun here now, temps at 75 degrees. Sure wish it would stay like this, lol!! We're supposed to hit around 87 tomorrow and break some records. I'm lovin it, except for the humidity. I turned on the AC at home this morning. Going out in my lawn chair at lunch time today.
We're supposed to have storms on and off this afternoon - probably hit about time for Bellacino's so it will be canceled again.
I haven't heard from Don Sitts about Tincanio yet. I don't know what they're doing over there.
I'm still coughing and hacking. I can't see my doctor - she's booked up. So I have an appt. tomorrow at 3:30 to see one of the other doc's. If I don't rupture something between now and then, lol. I'm drinking this Mucinex by the bottle and it doesn't seem to be doing much. Mostly the cough is un productive. I sat down to watch TV last night at 8:00 and started coughing. Just dry coughs. I drank some honey tea, I ate a teaspoon of honey with cinnamon, and nothing helps. I was still coughing hard when I went to bed at 11:30. It just comes and goes. Coughed a lot this morning, then stopped for the last few hours. I don't get it..... it is what it is, I guess.
Had a nice time at Chick Fil A last night.
Sorry Darrell, but I had a coupon to buy one sammich and get another free, so guess what I had for supper last night and am having for lunch today?

So Clay and Brian just had words about Brian's stupid ashtray, lol.
Clay sat the thing outside last week when Brian was gone those 2 days. Brian usually sets it out in the morning when he has his first smoke, then brings it in at night. He's afraid someone will steal it. Clay let it sit outside last week and over the weekend, so when Brian came in Monday, it was sitting outside. He got pissed, lol. So now to retaliate, he is taking it out when he smokes, and bringing it back in when he's done, instead of letting it sit out there all day like he was. It's like kindergarten, lol.
Clay called him on it a while ago. Told him it stinks and it needs to be outside all the time. No one has stolen the planters I bring here and have sitting outside; no one has stolen the chair sitting outside of the building across the parking lot; no one has stolen the trailers that are sitting aroung the parking lot, etc..... so they were flinging some words back and forth. Brian said as soon as he get's something inside of it to weigh it down, he'll leave it outside. He's a procrastinator, so that will take a long time.....
Other than that, it's slow and boring. I don't think I was missed yesterday. Ain't a whole lot going on...
Clint..... thanks, but that's just how Larry is. Instead of just speaking nicely he has to start cussing and carrying on like a tough guy. He doesn't realize how stupid he sounds....
When I lived in W VA many years ago, I loved hearing the Whippoorwills sing at dusk. That's the only place I've ever heard them. I don't know what they looked like.

Hi everyone. Another beautious day here, sunny and around 80. It's been so warm all last month into this one, that the secada's are still playing their song in the trees.
Trying to finish up my porch before the weather turns. Have most of everything put back up and now I've got to start painting. Can't wait.
Mike - I bought the Cutlass from a guy from Indiana about 4 years ago. It is such a clean car and the paint is amazing. I would only sell the Cutlass if I got top dollar for it. Definitely would not give it away.
If it was my only classic car, I would not part with it. But, you can see in my sig that I am one of those crazy people who likes to horde old cars.
The 63 Riv was my grandmothers car and she bought it new. I would never sell that one. The Eldo was also her car too. I am blessed to have all of them, but it really is kind of nuts to keep this many when money is tight. We'll see where it goes.
Have a great night Oldsmofriends.

Darrell I don't remember, was the Cutlass a family heirloom or something like that, or just a car you liked bought it. Not that either makes it any easier to sell, you do what you gotta do. Hopefully that guy finishes up the deal with the Caddy so you don't have to worry about that anymore.

Answer.........It does
I thought maybe farmer Clint had dug enough post holes to back me up on dis one.
Before my tome diapears, let me see if CO is werk'in right dis mawn'in

Morning All!
Sunny and humid here this morning. Rain chances of course. Bellacino's was canceled last night.
I swear it only rains on cruise nights.....
I'm hoping the rain holds off tomorrow until after the show down here at the Rockwell plant on 91. We have 'isolated storms' supposed to be in the area in the afternoon. Awards are at 2 pm, so it can rain all it wants to after 3:00!
Sunday is looking pretty wet, and we cool off to the 60's next week. Hopefully Bob is coming and bringing one of his Oldsmobiles!!
Still haven't heard from anyone at Don's about Tincanio. I'm gonna call them later this morning. I want my tin can back!!
I have a doctors appt. this afternoon at 3:30. Sure hope I can get rid of this friggin cough! I've had enough....
Jamesbo..... sure you aren't having Chantix dreams, lol?
How is your not smoking, going?
Clint.... I don't want to hear about that nasty weather...... I am not ready for it either. Never am. It seems like it takes forever for it to get warm, but boy when fall gets here, it sure turns cold fast enough, lol.
Darrell.... we still have all the bugs and frogs and crickets doing their thing around here too! Isn't it nice???
I'm enjoying it while I can.

Happy Friday, Oldsmogang....
Just a quick check-in.... hopefully this Karen won't be packin' too much of a punch if and when she skirts our area. Looks like we'll be on the dry side, at least.
Hope to buy the Hotlanta tickets this weekend.
Been off all week and the days sure flew by.... absolutely shocking! At this rate, if I fully retire in December, I'll be 85 before I know it.
I sure feel your pain on the missing posts... even if one was about the density of soil in relation to moon phase.... I've heard things less interesting -- although I had to think about it a second...
Y'all have a great weekend, Oldsmofriends.

Well..... I called Don's and Rob said he called and left a message on Wednesday that Tincanio was done!! I told him I never got a message. My call log shows no calls from them since Tuesday when he called and told me what was wrong. He said I'm not the only one that has said they didn't get messages. You would think they would call again if people aren't showing up to get their cars, lol. So I'm leaving at 3:15 for doctor and then going over to Don's. Hopefully I'll get there by 5:30 in the Friday afternoon traffic....
Happy Friday everyone.
Well there's nothing smart about me. Yesterday I was out in the yard pulling weeds and moving branches and all that. Half my yard is woods and I figured I'd clear some of it out. I'm paying taxes on it I might as well get some use out of it. Well, I don't know what poison ivy looks like, or any of its brethren, and every time I work in the yard I get poison ivy all over my arms. Even though it's rather uncomfortable and lasts over a week, each time I forget about the previous time and get it all over me. I wear gloves but never think about long sleeves. I got some spray that helps a lot, maybe I'll take it with me to work tonight.
Not much else going on. Beautiful day here. I hate that my momentum is being interrupted by work, especially since hurricane Elsie will be upon us by the time I'm off again. Well, it will give me a chance to get caught up inside.
So off to work, hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello peoples!
Aren't you glad another work week bites the dust?
We got back yesterday from our mini vacation in Banff. It's a super pretty little community buried in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Only thing is there's more Asians there than you can shake a stick at; buses full of em, and roving gaggles of em walking the streets. Hard to miss with all those cameras, flashes and posing in front of fire hydrants (WTH for I don't know). Seems like all the hotels and shops have at least one or 2 folks from Oz or England working the desk. They were really polite but didn't know much about the local attractions.
I was really disappointed to find the Sonata leaking from the oil filter cap again. Not sure why. It had gone about 4500 km with no leaks but I decided to change the oil anyway. With such low miles as that (4500 km = 2800 miles) I only drained the oil and topped it up. Manual says it should be 5 litres but I go by the dipstick. Anyway that sucker started leaking again within 500 km of the change. I'm using Castrol 100% synthetic if anyone has any suggestions? For now I took off the shroud, re-sealed the oil filter top and pressure washed the oil off the side of block and top of transaxle. Drove to curling and back (about 30 miles) and didn't see any signs of leaking, but I'm sure it's going to again. Is there something about synthetic vs conventional 5/20 that makes a difference??
Mike - whew! for a second I thought maybe you found a nest of snakes. BTW, a new vinyl top for 900 is a deal - snap it up. A new vinyl top for my Cutlass is looking at right around 1400.00.
Clint - been there, done that too. Woke up to about 1" of the white stuff on the ground yesterday morning.
Some pics of the place we stayed at:
We had a second floor unit which is a 2 story apartment. Can you ask for a more perfect setting? This complex is about a mile away from the town site

Looking to the south. As you can see this is not high season, but I like it that way. The pool and hot tubs weren't crowded. Heck, I was the only one in them for most of the time.

2 years ago Parks Canada told the resort they couldn't have any more free standing grills so they built them into a covered deck. WOW! They were nice - stainless steel, 4 burners, LED lights outside and inside in case it was dark and timers for the gas just to make sure it got turned off. The deck is made of that Trex plastic wood and whoever built it did a fantastic job. There's also timed lighting under the canopy for night time grilling. While I was using this setup, I watched this busy squirrel gathering cones and stuffing them under the flashing of one of the units.

Wanna guess what the room theme was? Yup, a giant portrait of wolves in every room. Kind of creepy if you ask me though.

I took the route outlined in red for the trip down. Mostly just because I hate travelling on Primary 2 which is nuts - everyone likes to speed along at about 120 - 130. The speed limit is only 110 though. The red route (sounds like a line from "The Hunt for Red October" doesn't it?) was longer at 5 3/4 hours and the speed limit is only 100, but the scenery was absolutely stunning. Also saw an unusual amount of road kill this trip - 6 porcupines and 3 coyotes. Most of Hwy 1 is repaved so a very smooth drive there. Return trip took the #1 Hwy back then up through the town of OLDS on the way back. They have a college there that's just started training folks to be beer brewmasters. One of their products is ...honest to God...a local brew called...yup...OLDS - Gold! Anywho, it was a faster road and only took 4 1/2 hours to get home.

Evening everyone. Happy Friday. It was another 80+ degree day here, starting to get really spoiled. It will probably go right from summer to winter and skip fall the way we're going.
Allan - looks like a beautiful place. My company had an award trip there a few years ago. I did not make the cut to go there for free, but it's on my places I want to see list. Have any more pics you can post?
Sandy - great isn't it? The crickets are everywhere here to. Of course, so are the mosquitoes. Guess we have to the good with the bad.
Well, have a good night Oldsmofriends.

Good morning
Not really though. Yesterday my lower back has been really bugging me. Slept really badly; every time I rolled over it felt like I was lying on a big old rock pressing into my spine. Trying some of the non odor deep heating cream to see if it works.
Tried posting from my wife's iPad earlier but it went on another journey and couldn't seem to find the C.O. site. So it's back to Jim for the worm thread....
Darrell - I've been to Banff so many times I just don't take a lot of pictures anymore. Sounds weird doesn't it? I have those images ingrained in my mind from my younger days when I used to go mountain climbing and back country ski touring.
Jim - Thankee. Yup - it's an eerie feeling walking down the street and not hearing anyone speak English...BTW, I knows zactly how ta dig a fence hole. Jes take away de dirt from de ground whare ya want a post ta be. Eezee. Ifn if was Mike though, it would involve a backhoe or front end loader??? JK
Today is supposed to be a good day with temps in the upper 60's. Not bad for October. My Oak tree still has green leaves and the grass is still looking good too.

Happy Saturday everyone.
Beautiful day, again. I haven't seen the weather but I'm guessing this is the last one for awhile.
Good night at work last night. Really an exercise in futility. Seems a crew changed all four thrust reversers Thursday night, then dayshift came in and arbitrarily decided they were in the wrong positions, and changed two of them around. Then when nightshift came back dayshift said, hey you got this all wrong, nightshift said, no we didn't, see? Oops. So we swapped them back last night.
Slept really well today. Dogs got me up twice during the day, and at 4. That's their supper time. Now I'm all ready for night #2.
Something must be up with the site these days, as the little post box here isn't always accepting all the keystrokes I put in. Makes for some odd looking sentences until I go back and fix them.
Okay I'm taking the hint and leaving. Have a good Saturday everyone.

Mike - What do you mean about weird sentences. I didn't see any in your posts? Sure as heck I wouldn't let the site dictate any hints about leaving.....you scarin me. Hope your shift goes well tonight - maybe they'll be better organized.
My problem with the site, is not being able to use the "back" button, it just decided to work here once in awhile. I suppose that it could be something with my computer though, as I cannot attach photos using Explorer. Just ran a security scan two days ago, but no change.
Happy Friday to me!
I'm the only one here today? How about that. Was nice all day but now it's clouding up. Weather channel says the rain comes about 10. As far as I can tell the dogs' room is secure, but there's no telling with those two.
Last night wasn't bad at work. Worked with a bunch of good guys. We had the worst lead of the bunch. I may have mentioned him before. I know his wife, she's pretty tough and curses like a sailor. I have a feeling this guy's a ***** at work because his wife kicks his *** all day long when he's at home. Anyway. Had a plane that the more we did, the more we found. We did save it from an engine change, which is good. The lead said, just go ahead and change it. The paperwork said, do this operation. Well, the operation checked good so the engine stayed on the pylon and the lead looked like a doof.
Allan there were no weird sentences in my post because I went back and fixed them. What I meant by taking the hint and leaving was I didn't have time to mess around with a temperamental computer, I had to get to work. Today everything seems back to normal. You know what's funny, I look at Steel Soldiers, which is an MV forum set up just like this one, and for the longest time I couldn't "return." My posts were just one long run on sentence because I couldn't get return to work and make a new paragraph. But now it works. I'm pretty **** when it comes to this sort of stuff.
The rain is supposed to be short-lived and be nice all day tomorrow. I hope I get to go to Summit for the Monday night cruise. My awesome convertible I looked for years to get, hasn't been out since the last cruise I went to, more than a month ago.
Well have a good evening everyone. Last night for me, hope it's a good one.

Hi Mike, I'll join ya for a brief moment to say hi! Sorry, I didn't understand the nature of what you were saying. Not sure why your puter was acting like that. Maybe in the future when it won't accept and "enter" command, press and hold 'shift' and then hit 'enter'. Return is usually a function of 'go back to the last thing done' which would be either the left arrow at the top of the browser, or the 'undo' feature which is usually 'ctrl + z'. Sorry I didn't understand what you were getting at, but glad it got sorted out.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Good evening everyone!
I just couldn't stay away... or I might have actually found a little time to stop in.
Mike, hope you get to make it to Summit tomorrow.
Allan, good to hear you had a great time in Banff. Wait, did you say speed limit of 110km/h?
I wish.
Everyone have a great week!

Morning All!
Missed ya all weekend. The sun is finally peeking out from behind all these clouds. We had heavy rains come through last night. A lot of water standing in yards around here this morning. Temps in the 40's this morning, but it feels so nice and refreshing after all the miserable humidity all last week. They think it's cold in here...... I'm dying! It's supposed to be a cool week, night temps pretty chilly.
Went to the show down here at Rockwell on Saturday..... we got rained on about 45 minutes before it was over. I'm glad I was close to home, but I still ended up in the garage cleaning her the rest of the evening.
Teepo got 3rd place out of the 10 awards they gave away!
I was pleased. That's a nice show.
Yesterday we hit 81 degrees!! It was humid though. Larry and I went to the shooting range. I didn't shoot very well at all. But I haven't fired the gun since April, lol. Close up I did ok, but not far away. Of course if someone is far away, they are not a 'threat', so I don't have to worry about shooting them, lol. Came home for a while then I went and took Lin shopping, so that's done for the month. Got home going on 8:00 last night and washed my hair.
Went to the doctor Friday afternoon - she said she thinks I just have residual coughing from a bronchial type viral infection, so she didn't give me any antibiotics. She gave me this little pill that's just for 'severe coughs'. It seems to be helping some. I had a chest x-ray. Lungs are clear. I still have episodes of coughing....
Tonight is our last cruise at the Riverfront, Don said Friday when I picked up Tincanio.
It sure went way too fast. I can't get off early today, so I will be late.
I have to get Teepos oil changed pretty soon, figure out when I'm taking her to the upholsterer, and get my calendar pics taken!!
That stupid a$$ed low tire pressure thing came on in Tincanio this morning on my way to work. I hate that thing! Now I have to check the tires and see which one is low. If it stays on, I'm going to Defer - the tires were put on in January, they shouldn't be leaking. One of the bulbs blew in the 'overhead' light last night too, on my way home from Lins. I turned it on to look for something as I was sitting at a red light, and it just went out after a second or two. When I got home and opened the door, only the one for the passenger side came on. Not the drivers side one. Don't even know how to take that thing apart to change a bulb. Guess I'll see if it's in the manual somewhere, lol.
Well it's quiet and boring in here. No calls even so far this morning.
I'm getting tired of this. I better go find something to do though, so you all have a good Monday!!

If your tires air pressure hasn't been checked since you put them on in January, then they most definitely could be low, air pressure in your tires changes with the outside air temp. and can fluctuate quite a bit. Check your tires on a regular basis to make sure that thet are at the right psi.
Yeah, I meant to check them at lunch time and forgot. I will check them. I forgot to mention that Teepo was in the Sunday local Ravenna/Kent newspaper.
Not a real good pic - just a general shot of the car show at the nursing home in Kent. Nice pic of all the chairs that were in front of the line of cars, lol.
Pam texted it to me yesterday morning and said she will cut it out of the paper for me.
I'm hoping it stays nice for the Riverfront later..... big old dark clouds keep moving in. It's windy outside, and it's a cold wind. It's only in the 50's today.
Scot... I see ya on facebook once in a while..... where you at????

Good afternoon all
It's been awhile since I last posted, but I have been lurking here and there. Been basically busy with family and my job search as well as other personal things here lately.
I hope everyone has a great week and I'll try to check in more often.

Howdy everyone.
Cool day today. The rain stopped about 7 this morning and the sun has been out. I'm about to tidy up the convertible so we can make a showing at Summit tonight.
Not much else, really, Scot hope your searching leads to success.
Need to change the front tires on the Deuce this week. Found a 12 ton bottle jack in the garage. That should help. Now I need to find a socket big enough for the lugs and something to break them loose with.
Well have a good afternoon all, maybe I'll show back up if I win best of cruise tonight. I think the only way that would happen is if I was the only car there.

Evening everyone. Was a windy day here, hot and humid. Rain blew threw a little earlier too, think it was the remants of the tropical storm.
Been busy with another house project over the weekend. Hard to get enough time to do my job, work on projects and spend time with the family. Feel like I need to be cloned, I need the extra help.

Sandy - I hate tire pressure monitors too. Stupid things are always going off on my wife's car too. Tire sticker on the inside of the door says 30lbs. I have 32 in them and it keeps setting the alarm off???? Weird.
Mike - don't you just love computers? I had to send both of mine out to get serviced and cleaned up. It seems that sites like this have a lot of viruses. Maybe that's what's going on with yours.
Well, have a good night Oldsmofriends.

Mornin all.
Darrell, I know what you mean. But if I cloned myself, I'm sure my clones would get the good tasks and I'd be left with the crappy ones.
Speaking of puters, My new one I ordered from Costco arrived. I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. that may be a while. This one here at the house has been giving be the BSOD since it was about a year old, but now its getting to the point that some days I will get it 3-4 times in a 2 hour span.
I ordered a Dell with windows 7 because I havent heard much positive about 8.
Mike, are you gonna break those down yourself? I wonder how rusty the rings are?
Scot, glad to see you on here. Hope things for you and yours are going well.
Sandy, You think you hate TPMS? Try being on the receiving end of the complaints. Temp is the biggest factor for false alarms. Just think. It was snowing last Friday and we almost hit 80F yesterday. How are we supposed to set those damn things for that type of temp swing?
Well, I won't be gittin my swingarm this week. Has to be cross shipped from WI to Lost wages then to me.
Oh well, I'll get the ladies bikes ready and then take pictures at this race.
Have a great day all.

Mike, I don't envy ya.............Watch your back wit dem big ole tires/wheels. Heck watch your head neck and shoulders
Sandy, De Super model's car has all dat fancy crap. I'm holding off as long as I can on several hi tech items including a smart phone. I don't even turn on a radio when I'm driving. I kinda like de silence.
But I've got a Emory bud who stands in line every time de come out wit a new phone to get de latest model. He's become an incredible BORE. When you're talk'in or eating lunch he's on his frigg'in phone to look up and answer any questions wit more detail dan I care to know.
Scot, Goodluck wit de search. When de govement shuts down and people start jump'in outa tall buildings, I might needs um help wit opening and closing graves wit a track hoe.
Dare's dis lady in my city what claims to be an author. Yesterday. she posted on FB dat she need a Dr. [specialist] I think I'll give her a lesson dis mawn'in and give her a new word. Otolaryngology

Hi everyone.
Overcast here today, and cold, but no rain is forecast so I ain't complainin' .
Not much going on today. Awful house then home. Might hit the junkyard tomorrow.
No Clint I've got two wheel assemblies, rims painted and tires aired up. Just swapping them out. I have no idea how to break down truck rims, I'm sure I'd get that safety ring right in the head. I'll keep the wheels I take off for spares until I need the rims then get them broke down at a shop.
I'm just not allowed to have a good computer, I guess. I have Windows 7 and I don't really care for it. I can only get a few addresses saved in the bar on top, if the thing sits more than a few minutes it disconnects from the internet and takes an act of Congress to get back online, and when I shut it off I get a message that I got a message that there are things running in the background that have to shut down first. The best computer I had was in the 90s that was dialup and Pentium 2. Slow as a dog but the machine itself never gave me any trouble.
Sandy my cars with aluminum rims are constantly losing air. Just the nature of the beast. We check air pressure in the airplane tires every day. They run around 200psi.
Took the Saturn to Summit last night and parked on the side. The convertible was dirty and the boot cover was all jacked up and it needed more than I could be bothered with to look nice, so it stayed home. There were only a handful of cars there, I don't think I was there 20 minutes.
Okay gotta get this day going. Already late to the Awful house. Have a good day everyone.

Morning All!
Sunny and cold here, temps at 43 early this morning. Supposed to hit 65 today, and warming up through the week with temps in the 70's. It's actually looking nice on Thursday for Bellacino's for a change!!! I'm hoping to get out on Saturday and take calendar pics.....
Went to the Riverfront last evening. Didn't get over there until 10 after 6.
It was soooo cloudy - Larry couldn't believe I took Teepo out with the sky looking like it did, lol. But it didn't rain. God I love the heater in that car!
Even with it set over to almost 'cool', she puts out the heat!!! There wasn't a whole lot of cars there. Pam and I walked around, then it was getting dark about 10 to 7.
I left a little after 7. Wasn't hardly worth the drive over there.... But I enjoyed it.
I'm still coughing, but not as bad. These pills seem to be helping. Which is good.... my voice sounds rough from all the coughing.
Clint..... You crack me up, lol!
Yeah, I'd hate to be on the receiving end of the stupid tire pressure sensors. Last I checked, all tires were good. I still haven't checked them from yesterday. Will go out at lunch time and do it. I figured it was the temp drop. From 84 on Sunday to 44 yesterday morning, lol. Quite a difference!! I'll fill whichever one is low and if it keeps happening, I'll take it to Defer and say 'fix it'!!
That new Speedway by our house charges $1.00 for air! I couldn't believe that. I always go to Sheetz where it's free. But Speedway is still taking 10 cents off a gallon of gas with the rewards card. It's $3.19 there this morning. I saw it in Stow last night for $3.07! Some places are now down under three bucks a gallon. Ravenna has it for $2.97!!! It's just because they can that they raise it all the time. No real necessary reason, and I don't care what excuse they use!
Scot... Glad you popped in!
Hope everything is going well. Good luck with the job search. What ever happened with the court thing and the PO??
Well you all have a great day!

Gor-ju-ous Tuesday here in da' Swamp
Don't get no better dan dis down here; was 52* at the Plantation, with humidity hovering around the 20% mark. Spose to get back up near 80 today, and of course, get muggy at end of week; but I'll take it while it lasts.
Picked up my new blasting cabinet from the freight terminal yesterday. What a beaut! I haven't had one since Katrina, and I'll definitely be playing with my new toy soon. The good thing is now I have some real air to blow in it... the last one I bought around Y2K was powered by my 1979 vintage Campbel-Hausfeld, which pretty much ran the entire time I had the trigger pulled. My new Quincy should actually start and stop... what a luxury. But I know that old C-H would still be tickin' if it hadn't floated away in the nasty Big K.
Every time I pulled off the head and played with the reed valves, you could still see the factory crosshatch in those cast iron cylinders. Of course, using Mobil 1 in it never hurt. I'll prolly go back to M1 as soon as the Quincy is "broken in."
I was spose to go in to work today, but the entire site is furloughed now... I feel sorry for the other folks out there, but I'm tickled pink for the addition to my little vacation. Honestly, if this goes on for more than 2-3 weeks, I see a real resignation in my future. I really just don't want to mess with it and be strung out like this. Thing is, I'm 95% certain once everybody comes back to work, they're going to give everybody back pay; but since I'm now part time as of October, I doubt this would apply to me.
The Fusion had developed quite a "roar" above 60 or so over the last year, and I assumed it was some rear bearing. So it was off to the local Ford dealership last week, since we have an extended warranty. Turns out it was (at least one of the) tires. After 57k miles, I figure we got our money's worth; so we got 4 new B.F. Goodriches installed last week; rides nice & smooth & quiet now. I need to rotate them more often. I let it go about 30k miles before swapping them around. That's prolly a big reason for the scalloping that caused the roar.
I couldn't in good conscience go back with Michelins after the terrible luck I've had with them. I wanted to get Bridgestones, since I've had such good luck with them on the Camry; but the guy at the Ford dealership here in Ponchatoula would have had to order them -- and I just wanted to get 'er done. The Goodriches were available... and at a good price, I might add ... and with the same specs (V speed-rating) as the factory Michelins.
Sorry to hear of the back ailments, Alan and Clint. I thought I wrote the book on whacked out backs; but misery loves company. I had been getting some lower extremity numbness over the last year, and my PCP thought it could be related to my scoliosis; so I went in and saw an orthopedist last Thursday. Thank goodness, he diagnosed me with "idiopathic neuropathy," which he said was more than likely unrelated to the scoliosis... kind of a relief; just hope it doesn't get worse. I think sitting in the car for 2.5-3 hrs/da and sitting behind the computer every day the way I was doing didn't help things much.
Anyhoots, time to get off my duff and get some house cleaning done; better half & I agreed today would be devoted to that... but neither one of us is jumping up too quickly to make it happen.
Y'all have a fab Tuesday.
I'll prolly go back to M1 as soon as the Quincy is "broken in."I was spose to go in to work today, but the entire site is furloughed now...
Mornin all.
John, Y'ins down there can get away with rotating every 10K miles or so, up here, with all the canyon roads, I recommend every 3000 miles if you have an open shouldered tire. Every 5k if its a closed shoulder. The tires cup something fierce if they go much longer than that.
Sandy, Thats much cheaper than around here. Our 85 octane is 3.28 right now. And thats at the crappy little station across from the shop that gives you 75% fuel and 25% dirt and water for every gallon
Hope your cough goes away.
Mike I see. well, I don't mess with any of the bigger tires/wheels either. I let my wife do those. She's real quick at the real big ones like on the back of her Johnnie Popper. She uses the skid steer to break the bead, and just leaves the wheel attached to the tractor.
Jamesbo, you keep saying you play like a goat. Well there is this gingerhaired gent who is refereed to as GOAT. and thats a compliment.

Welp, I went out and bought anutter bobcat.
The first one I bought is gonna go to auction I think.
That wasn't one of my better moves. The S word is comin fast, and I need to get a bunch of material moved. I have to go pick it up this evening.

I also have to get ready for next weekend as I'm hosting a CCW class. Now waking up this morning it feels like I may be coming down with something. The SIL has the flu, and so the missus has been working the store. I sure hope she hasn't brought it home.
Have a great day all.
