Eh, that's okay Dan. I don't know how to do that computer stuff, either. I did, however, take steps to make the words bigger. I took out a magnifying glass and held it up to the screen.

Nice evening here. Rain starting about the time I get home in the morning. Wouldn't be a bad night to work outside.

Didn't have luck with my bed today. Got it all set up, got the water going, and couldn't keep the hose in the fill valve of the mattress. Got water spraying all over my bedroom. Didn't help that I had the hose coming from the side of the house, which is street pressure. I'll have to find some sort of hose I can adapt to a faucet in the house when I'm at work tonight. This sleeping on the couch is fun for a night, but making a habit out of it is for the birds.

One more week of four, then it's 3 on/3 off. Actually I was supposed to work 5 this week but I took off last night. Who was it that came up with the 5-day workweek, was it Henry Ford?

Well, enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone and have a good night.

Hola

Yeah, me too. Hot as da' blazes down here. Sure glad I did the grass during the week. I got to clean house today, but at least I got to work in the A/C! Now the real test of willpower will arise this evening, when I'm scheduled to wash the Camry.

Congrats on the story, Scot! I'm gonna put on my xtra strong readers and see if i can decipher the article, since I don't get the JWO in print any more.

Jamesbo, sounds like the book's been closed on the boy. God bless him... and you. Jeez Louise, you'd think the kid could at least bring his Mom a card on her b'day, especially if she's feeding his face. Tell him I have some used Prestone he can have for his A/C. It's a bear getting that stuff thru the schrader valve under pressure.

Y'all enjoy the resto yer Sunday.

Happy Sunday Night everyone.

Well, finally, after three days sleeping on the couch, I got my bed filled and ready to go. It should be nice and warm by the time I get home in the morning. The biggest problem was trying to come up with some makeshift way to attach a garden hose to my shower. Or faucet or bathtub.

Nice evening out. If I remember right it's going to rain some time tonight, at least it won't be raining when I leave for work. I feel like I'm abandoning my dogs when they're scared and I have to leave, not to mention that gives them the full 10 hours to destroy their room. Last night it actually cleared up when it was supposed to rain so I hope tonight is a repeat of that.

Not much else going on. The 'hood seems to be unusually quiet today. John hope you got the car washed today.

Jamesbo is your one foot nailed to the floor?

Okay off to work. Hope everyone's week starts out good.

Thanks, Mike

It cooled off a bit this evenin', so I soldiered out to the carport & spiffed 'er up. (Not bad for 190k, eh? )
Got two new tires on Friday and it's shakin' a bit in the steering wheel, so it's back to Firestone manana....

Evening All!!

Missed ya since Thursday, lol. Been busy. It's been muggy here, clouds/sun in the mornings, clouds and storms in the afternoons and evenings. Temps around 80.

I spent all day Friday up at Linda's lugging the pile of containers that have been sitting in her bedroom blocking access to her window ever since she moved in, to the tiny storage 'room' (it's more like a tiny closet with shelves) that they have on her floor, and trying to stack them in there. What mess! She's more of a pack rat than mom was. I can't get her to part with anything. She has sweatshirts and clothes she hasn't worn in years, she has containers of papers and pictures that God only knows when the last time they were opened.... More containers of Christmas decorations than 1 person could possibly ever use. Just a pack rat. I didn't leave there until 3:30 ish.

Saturday I went to the Pop's show over at Summit. It was cloudy here and as I backed out of the garage it sprinkled some. But the closer I got to Tallmadge the sunnier it got. It was a nice show. Quite a few cars there. It clouded up about an hour before award time, but no rain, thank God. Made it home and in to the garage before it got really dark and thundery. We didn't get any rain, but it thundered all around us for about 2 hours. I called Jean, and she said they had several downpours up there. I pulled weeds out in the flower beds until it got dark, then came in and took a bath.

Today I spent 4 hours at the hair place. It was busy and I had to wait. Didn't get in the chair until about 1:00, and left at 3:30. Went over to Wal Mart and got some birthday plates and stuff for Nicole's birthday party. Came home and ran the sweeper, then Jr. and Elyse came over for dinner. Larry made a roast. I swept out the breezeway after they left, and went out and dug some thistles out of the flower beds. No shows around today that I wanted to go to. It was very cloudy until around 4:00 and the sun finally came out.

I think I'm gonna have cake and ice cream for Nicole on the 4th after we cook out. Everyone will already be here, so it makes sense, lol. Then we can go to Newton Falls to see the fireworks. If it's not raining....

Nicole is going to Kalahari indoor water park in Sandusky on her birthday on the 5th. I have the Animal Protective League show on Saturday the 6th, and I think we're gonna take her to the casino on Sunday the 7th. I'm going to take her birthday off, next Friday. So it will be nice to go see the fireworks and not get home until late, and not have to get up early the next day and go to work! I used to always take her birthday off and her and I would go do something, when she was younger. It was nice.

Larry was on her again yesterday morning about not working and everything. She walked away and shut herself in her room. Just like old times. He didn't care that she had the interview at the Twinsburg vet, didn't ask how it went or anything, and one of her teachers is setting up a 'working' interview for her at the Macedonia vet. She will let her know when. I'm tired of her not working too, but hurting her feelings isn't gonna help any.

Jamesbo.... I picked some of the lettuce I planted! It's good, lol. Some of the leaves were really big and tall. I don't know anything about picking lettuce - I pinched it off close to the ground, and left the little leaves. I guess they'll keep growing.... Larry ate the little radish. He said it was good, kinda tangy tasting. I hope I get some more. I have little green beans now! They're so cute, lol. Lots of little cherry maters and the Better Boys have a couple on them too.

I haven't got my JWO magazine yet. I can't wait to read the article on Scot's car!!

Clint.... yes, I'm sure I want to be in the Arizona dry hot heat, lol. I've been out there in August, and I know it's hot. I'll adapt! It will be like living here in the winter time is....you just don't go outside at certain times!

Brian goes on his 2 week vacation to Florida on Tuesday!! I can't wait, lol. I'm ready for the break.

Well I reckon I better get off here and gather stuff for work. Talk to ya tomorrow!

Our top 25 trophy from Pop's!!

Morning all.

Nice hardware Sandy. I think if I lived in AZ. I'd have to get A/C. Here we seem to do pretty well without it. Came upstairs this morning at 3 and it was a bit toasty at 74 degrees. Kicked the attic fan on at 4 and right now we have a nice 67*. The hottest I've come home to this summer has been 84* on the 101* day.

John, that Yota's lookin good. Ever think that shake may just be the loose nut behind the wheel?

Mike, glad you found your mattress. I can say I do not miss our water bed whatsoever. Been 17 years I think, and I can't remember once wishing I had it back.

Thanks for posting the article Dan.

Well, I sure wish we had more weekend, but I can't say I didn't get anything done. I had to help the missus at the feed store on Saturday. She was just too exhausted to do all the loading and stocking with her right arm. I feel bad for her, but dang it, she should learn to just take it easy a little bit. Its like her and her mother have to compete to see who can wear themselves out the most. She does get to go and have her cast removed today. Hope the x-rays show she's healed well. Then she is supposed to have a split for the next couple of weeks. The bills are rolling in now. Looks like the hospital part is about $44,000. then we have all the other stuff to go with it. I'm guessing its gonna be a $60,000 broken arm.

Anywho. I did get the lawn mowed, and watered, hauled a truckload of dirt by wheelbarrow back to the chicken coop, replaced the shaft seal on the A/C compressor of Brittney, installed the pertronix electronic ignition on her as well. worked a little on the ATV's and had a nice dinner with the wife, kid, and her boyfriend. He's a nice kid. Seems to have his head screwed on pretty straight for growing up in a real bad situation. He's still meeting siblings that he never knew about. I guess his parents are part rabbit.

Have a great week all.

Morning All!

Cloudy here this morning, muggy, temps around 70 right now. Rain chances all day of course.

Hot in here when I came in!! No surprise there. Clay is back so it's a little noisier, lol. Brian is back here concentrating away. I'm sure he loved it Friday with both Clay and I gone.

Jamesbo.....Congrats!!! I didn't know you were a smoker. It's tough to quit, but you can do it!!! I used that Commit lozenge. One day I will get all the awards together and take a pic, lol.

Clint..... that sure is one expensive broken arm!! I feel your pain, bud. Nothing like thousands of dollars in medical bills. A bill for the pill they gave you, a bill for the guy who looked in your hospital room, a bill for this, a bill for that..... it sucks. I have 4 months to go on my $100 a month payments from last year, lol. I sure hope her arm is healed good now. She sounds like Larry.... just has to keep moving and going. I couldn't live without AC around here.....

It's sad about those fire fighters who died in Arizona. Just tragic.

Well you all have a great Monday!!! I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I'm by myself in here........

It actually was a bit cooler this morning; 67 at the plantation, with lower humidity. Welcome break! I left the windows in the carport open last night and all the car wash water had evaporated.

Yeah, Clint, I considered that; and there may be a kernel of truth there . It's weird; when we bought that car, it had the factory Bridgestones and they rolled straight and true for about 60,000 miles.... practical perfection. Then I "upgraded" to Parelli's, and they were the shakiest tires I've ever felt. I don't think a one of them was concentric. So after fighting with the tire dealer (stay away from Tire Kingdom!) on and off for about 30,000 miles, I tossed the Parelli's and went back to Bridgestones. They were better than the Perelli's, but the ride at 70 was never as vibration-free as those original tires. It has alloy wheels, and has never hit any curbs or been in any wrecks; so I believe the wheels are still true. I just don't get it. Why is it so hard to get rid of that vibration? I really have my doubts as to whether these folks really know how to balance a wheel any more. And it's really annoying when you have to drive 110 miles/day in the thing, too... and it's not doing the car any good, either .

But enough of the venting.

Jamesbo, it wasn't my place to rail on the stepson; it was a kneejerk reaction. Pls. don't take offense. But big-time congrats on the terbakkey-cessation. I smoked 10 years, so I can feel your pain. It's a decision you'll look back on and relish for the rest of your life, which should be greatly lenghened, BTW. . Keep up the good work. (And whack 'em good.)

Clint, that's pretty incredible. I don't know how those theives sleep at night. Preposterous for a broken arm to cost that much. (Venting again??) Hope the X-ray shows some good healing...~!

Y'all have a great Monday.

Hey everyone.

Ah what a nice day for sleeping, in my own bed. It was all ready for me when I got home this morning.

Nice day all day, but now it's a little overcast. No rain is due until tomorrow afternoon.

The neighbors(meaning, people in the neighborhood) have started with their firecrackers and whatnot. It's really upsetting to the dogs, and they aren't even nice fireworks, just big bangs. Well, my neighbors aren't the brightest. This will go on for the next week or so. At least it isn't like New Years when they shoot their guns into the air.

John I can remember when a high mileage car was somewhat of a rarity. Now it's almost the norm. My Saturn is pushing 200K. If I would have kept driving my Cutlass all these years instead of buying other cars, it would probably have about 600,000 on it.

Well time for work. I need to call my best friend on the way, today is his birthday. I'll taunt him and mock him like he did to me last week. We've been friends since the first day of Kindergarten, way back in 1972.

Have a good evening everyone.

Morning all. 1972, I had my first birthday.

Mike, Our neighborhood is pretty quiet so far. I'm not lookin forward to it. The little JRT is really having a hard time with the thunder anymore. e didn't used to be so bad with it, but each storm it seems to get worse.

John, the factory tires are designed to give you the best ride possible. And they do that but little else. sometimes its hard to find a well calibrated balancing machine or an operator who knows how to make it right. I bought a new SICAM balancer a few years ago, and I don't think it works as well as an older coats machine. Ive never been a fan of Perelli's, and even Goodyears I've had trouble with. Michelins seem to have the best quality, but they love to dry check the sidewalls after a couple of years.

Jamesbo, Good on ya for quitting. I miss it, but I'm sure glad I quit. I used Chantix to quit too. If I didn't work on Mondays, I'd have to work on Saturdays. Then, I'd be a little sour every time Tuesday came around. It is what it is...

Sandy, Her arm is doing well. She has some tendonitis, and everything is all stove up from not being used. But she says it feels strong, and shes been giving the okie-dokie to lift 20# with it. Mike the scorpion fared out really well, I posted a pic on FB of it.

I timed Brittney last night when I got home, She runs better with a little more initial advance, but I set her at about 9*BTDC because the exhaust sounds better with less advance.

Have a great day all.

Morning All!

Cloudy here and muggy. I sure wish some of that heat wave out west would make it's way here, lol. I'd really like to see the sun again..... it's seemed like October weather so far. We did have that beautiful sunny week back in May.

Clint and Mike.... you all are just babies, lol! I was 14 in 1972.....

Citcapp! I was just thinking about you and wondering where you're at! We haven't heard from you..... I see the heat wave is making it's way out where you live.

Brian is here until noon today. Then he's gone for 2 weeks!!!!!! I hear there's another sales meeting in NY on the 29th and 30th of this month too... don't know why. But I reckon I'll be in here 2 days by myself!

I'm going to clean Teepo's grills good tonight when I get home. I noticed a lot of dirt in those tiny corners. I hate cleaning those things, it's hard to get in those corners. I think last time I used a little screwdriver with a rag wrapped around the end. I put some Purple Power in a bucket of water last night and wiped the oil off of parts of her engine that Blue painted so beautifully. Paint is starting to look shabby after 3 years.

I have to make an appointment at Don's or Defer to get the oil changed in the Intrigue. Nicole is going to Sandusky on Friday. She also has a working interview at the Macedonia vet at 10:00 that morning. I guess they only last an hour. Sure hope someone hires her..... I think we're gonna go gambling on Sunday.

Well you all have a good day!!!!

Nice check-in rate dis mawnin'

Howdy, Oldsmofolk. Still a little cooler down in the swamp; 'twas 68 out the driveway. (Enjoy it whilst it lasts.) Da' cow spose to be making' the rounds toward the rock tomorrow, lastin' throughout Uncle Sam's weekend. Wet BBQ down here.

Hang in there, Jameso. Going to a bullfight on acid beats the hell out of station-wagon ride in a wooden box . Uncle Joe, who passed in '08, would still be roamin' the earth if he hadn't started them Camels in 1951. (He lightened up to Winstons ca. '90.)

I vsited the Firestone boys after work, which was good and bad. Bad, 'cause I went up in the guy's face and plainly told him I wanted to ride with the technician if we went off site. But he told me the tech was going to "check" the balance on the tires before driving it, so get comfortable.

So the Camry's on the rack, with all 4 shoes off. Then I look 10 minutes later and POOF! No Camry.

I went up to the guy and sez, "How much plainer could I have made it?" He sez, "Sorry, man." End of chapter.

"Tech" comes back and sez, "No trace of vibration now. I recalibrated the machine and 3 of the tires were out of balance."

I thinks: "WTH didn't you recalibrate it Friday before you balanced them the first time?" But I bit the ol' tongue. (Clint, R U there?)

Summary: the car is smooth as glass now, thank the Good Lord above. Honestly feels like a new car at 75-80. I never thought it'd ever feel that smooth again.

But bad too: some smart-Alec manager-type fossil behind the counter asked me if my car was vibrating before I brought it in . (This was after I explained in gory detail to the other guy that the reason I brought it in was that the car was vibrating, and that one pair of tires on it had 60,000+ miles!) I was stunned -- what a jackass. I'm guessing he thought I was really trying to pull a fast one on them -- Imagine, bringing your car to a tire store b/c you have 60,000+ on your current tires and have a vibration!

Of course it was vibrating when I brought it in, moron.

All's well that ends well, but this Firestone store isn't worth the 20+ mile trip out of my way any more. (I've been going there for about 5 years whenever I need tires.)

Clint, I got over 50k miles on that original set of B'stones -- all I need is longevity and concentricity, with a hint of wet-weather traction. Those B'stones gave me all that in spades. Unfortunately, they discontinued that series since I bought the last pair.

I did have a set of Michelins at one point that were not cheap (~$130 ea.?) , and they were no better for me than the B'stones (which are around that price), although I know people swear by Michelins. I've read that you have to get into the super-expensive ones (>$200 Z rated, etc.) to get the "Michelin advantage."

The better half's Fusion has the original factory Michelins on it, however, and it has >50k miles. I've rotated them once, and they still have apreciable tread left -- and no dry rot or checking. Maybe I'll go for a record .

Call me a pessimist, but if we got the exact replacement for those tires, we wouldn't fare as well as we did with the originals.

The Goodyear Gatorbacks on my '89 Mustang were a balancing problem right out the dealership. Two had to be replaced by Goodyear right after delivery. (Bum tires see me coming a mile away.)

So enough of the tire poop.... hopefully I won't have to think about them for a while to come; prolly Fusion next.

I feel exhausted.

Have a great Tuesday, friends.

Jamsbo,

Good luck on giving up the cigs. I smoked from the age of 10 up until my dad died of bronchitis and other lung complications. The last time i visited him in the hospital he had less the 10% lung capacity and with suffocating and scared. I thru the pack of lucky's in trash on the way out and never touched them again. I did not want to end up like dad. Cancer is not the only killer.

Hi everyone. Happy Friday to me!

It's just starting to rain here. It couldn't wait a few more minutes until I was out of the house. I think it's supposed to rain all night. Nice.

Well I think I'm ready for my trip in the morning. A couple days in Daytona Beach will be nice. Provided it isn't raining there. It will be nice to see some people I don't usually get to see.

Sandy you're funny. I'm not a baby, but sometimes I act like one. At the ripe old age of 46 I get a charge out of younger people who are lamenting turning 40.

John one of my favorite things to do is buy tires. I don't know why. I love researching them and looking at them at the tire store, and I don't care how ratty the car looks, a new set of tires makes it shine like a new penny.

Clint I saw the picture post-cast. It looks like it will heal up with minimal touch up. I hope she doesn't have any problems with the arm down the road.

Okay time to head out. Hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday and has some extra time off this week.

Morning all.

Mike have a safe trip. She has some swelling from the tendonitis that she has to ice occasionally, but she seems to be getting along pretty good.

Jamesbo, That chantix is some weird stuff. I never believed I'd ever have an inkling to just steer into oncoming traffic, but that stuff sure had me thinking about it. Not sure those 'receptors' that it shuts off ever get quite back to working right again. If it helps you quit, great, but I sure wish I would have quit without it.

John, Glad they got you all smoothed out. I have a problem balance coming in on Friday. Of course its my fault for rotating the tires at last weeks oil change. Aftermarket wheels and luggy tires on a newer f150 and after trying to rebalance on Monday, she still isn't happy. I told her if it wasn't good enough I would take the tires off the wheels to see if it is a wheel or a tire issue. A couple of the tires took more than 8 ounces of weight. I think she is gonna be less happy when I tell her she is going to need to replace her new tires with some that have a shape closer to a ball than an egg.

Jeff, March.

Well, I have a feeling of dread this morning. Not sure why, Hope it goes away and the holiday goes off without a hitch.

Have a great day all.

Morning All!

Cloudy here of course, muggy, rain chances..... this really sucks! Supposed to be wet clear in to next week!! So much for summer. I don't know if fireworks will be canceled here or not. Haven't heard yet.

Nice in here without Brian!! Soooo quiet. No whining or complaining. These 2 weeks will go so fast. I'll tell ya, his customers are as **** as he is, lol. No wonder it takes him so long to quote and such. He pisses around with all sorts of stuff that we're not even in the business of doing! We sell plate... not small parts that have to be sent out for testing, machining, whatever. Geezzzzzz....

Went out last night when I got home and cleaned Teepos grills. There are 66 friggin squares per side, lol. Took a while. I don't know if the Protective League show will be on Saturday or if it's gonna be rained out. Man I don't want to get poured on....

Scot.... What a great article about the car! I got my magazine yesterday. You did a really nice job of telling the story behind the car. I really enjoyed it.

Jamesbo... hang in there!!! You can do it!!! Mind over matter. Go get some fireballs to put in your mouth instead of a cigarette, lol. Worked for me. Any kind of hard candy. I eat Tic Tacs like crazy, lol. I have another little radish starting! I saw it last night when I was sprinkling snail killer. The Japanese beetles are here already. I killed several over the weekend.

Sure would be nice to have Friday off. I was gonna take a vacation day, but I might come in since Nicole isn't gonna be home anyhow. Maybe we'll get out of here early today.... that would be nice. I put a poke tenderloin in the fridge to thaw last evening. Gonna put it on the grill tomorrow. Need to make tater salad tonight. Jean isn't gonna come join us tomorrow. Nicole is sad, since we'll be celebrating her 21st b'day too. Oh well.....

Well you all have a good hump day!!

Good Humpday Mawnin All

I think my feet are growing webs with all the rain we've had and more to come they say.

Thank you all for the compliments on the article I tried to scan that thing where it would show up better to no avail :-( I can do one better though and post up my original rendition without most of the pictures.

One Special Car Named Louise
by Scot Hardman
Here is my ’72 Cutlass Supreme in its prime. This picture was taken in the middle ‘80’s and it only had around 46,000 documented original miles. My Grandfather Ronald Hardman began trying to special order it through Ted Wallace Olds in late ’71 for my Grandmother Louise Hardman (hence the name of the car). After telling the dealer Ted Wallace what it was exactly he wanted to order, Ted (Wallace) then put my Grandfather in touch with the Atlanta region zone manager W. W. Lane (Lane became general manager of Oldsmobile himself in the mid to late 80’s) and then on to the upper executives of Oldsmobile through several letters pleading how exactly he wanted it built. My Grandfather wanted a Cutlass Supreme hardtop coupe with most all of the available options including W30 (High performance package) which would have included W29 (442 appearance and handling package) He was informed that he could not in fact order it with W30 due to the fact that W29 nor W30 could not be had with the hardtop coupe but could be had if he chose a convertible or the Hurst Olds version of the hardtop
coupe, but he could have the dealership install the appearance part of W29 (Grilles and emblems) and W30 (Emblems) respectively, since the handling part (FE-2 442 Ralleye suspension) was available. They finally agreed on the car and the options that were to be factory installed as well as the agreement with the dealership to install the 442 badges, grilles and the W30 emblems after delivery.

Pictured below is the correspondence letter from W.W. Lane that contained the P-O-P

Well in the first week of June of ’72 it rolled off of the Lansing, Michigan assembly line very highly optioned, and quite possibly the highest optioned 1972 Cutlass Supreme out there ever built, although not quite the car he wanted still. The base price for a Cutlass Supreme was $3,257.60 and this one was built from the factory with all of the bells and whistles for a grand total of $5,977.30 (fully documented). Which in that day you could’ve had any type of muscle car you wanted with any or all of the creature comforts you desired for that price and maybe even two. It came complete from the factory with loads of options such as special order W-25 OAI hood, U code 455 rocket big block engine, TH 400 auto transmission, W-26 Hurst dual gate shifter, 442 Ralleye suspension (FE2), special order non- Olds Firemist paint which was Cadillac Ice Blue Firemist paint for the lower body color and Cadillac St. Moritz Blue paint for the upper body color where the vinyl top would’ve been. Power everything including power doors, power locks, power windows, power disc front brakes, variable ratio power steering, power 4-way driver’s bucket seat and power trunk release. Other luxuries are deluxe seatbelts with shoulder straps, 8-track stereo, remote outside driver’s mirror, AM-FM deluxe radio, rear axle upgrade to 3.08:1, super stock III wheels with G-70 X 14 wide ovals for performance, soft-ray tinted windows, electric rear defogger, cruise control, A/C, custom sport steering wheel, interior hood lock,tilt-away steering column, outside temperature indicator (rare) and heavy duty cooling package which included 4-core radiator for performance.

Pictured below is factory literature showing W25 as available for 4257 Cutlass Supreme Hardtop Coupes only as special order and not shown in regular advertising literature

Pictured below is factory literature showing RPO code WM7 as two tone special paint with a charge for non-Olds paint.

My Grandfather was a retired airman that knew what he wanted and Oldsmobile has always been up for the task since he bought his very first brand new car in 1956 from Jackson Oldsmobile in Macon, GA shortly after serving our country since 1941. The ’56 was a Deluxe Holiday Coupe Super 88 and I still have the original sales contract for that car. Too bad I don’t have that car to go with it. His second new car was a 1967 442 W30 with UHV ignition that he fell in love with and I have factory correspondence with the C-D ignition reference as he wanted it for the ’72 Cutlass Supreme.

Pictured below is the ’56 Deluxe Holiday Coupe Super 88 as noted my Grandfather’s first of three

$4,730.05 was some serious coin back in ‘56

Pictured below is the ’67 442 in September of ‘69

Pictured below is factory correspondence to my Grandfather that included the pamphlets “Get the Cool Setup” and “Super-Tuning and Blueprinting Specifications” as well as the reference to the C-D ignition system.

My Grandmother succumbed to cancer in the late ’77 shortly after Elvis passed. My Grandfather had his ’70 Buick Wildcat also a 455 big block that he drove to keep the miles off of the Cutlass. The Cutlass was driven occasionally just to keep it maintained and functional. My Grandfather passed away in 2001 due to a massive stroke. My Father inherited the estate and had to liquidate most of it due to the enormous bills that followed, however under no circumstances was he ever to “liquidate” the Cutlass (per me). He was in the process of building his own hot rod shop when he was faced with not only my demands on keeping the Cutlass but also the demands of what he was trying to do for himself, when all of his life he chose to help others. Well during the course of about five years in the southeastern exposure to the elements, the Cutlass started getting surface rust on the top and eventually rusting through a small place behind the back glass where most GM A-bodies suffer the same fate. After noticing the carnage from Mother Nature, I urged him to make room for it in the shop. We promised each other that one day we would restore it together to its former glory, which is strictly original.
On an extremely unusual cold February morning in 2009, he set out to take some puppies his dog had sired to get their first shots, but he didn’t make the appointment. Tragically he was in a terrible accident along the way that left him paralyzed from the neck down and unable to even breathe on his own. He passed away on the first day of August 2009 after long bouts with infections and pneumonia due to him being incapacitated. Now I have my Father’s estate, a beautiful wife, four of the smartest and most beautiful daughters in the world, a house and no extra money to spare at the moment. I don’t foresee being able to enjoy this car until all of the kids are grown and through college. I just want it back like it should be, pristine. It still has less than 85,000 original miles and should have generations left on her with a bit of a restore. I do know a car is only original once, but this one deserves another chance in her full glory.
Rare is right. The 1972 Cutlass Supreme with the U code 455 made up less than 3% of the total production of the Cutlass Supreme in ‘72. And even rarer is the W-25 on a Cutlass Supreme which entails only about 1% of total production in ‘72. Even rarer than that this is one of one with Cadillac Ice Blue Firemist lower body paint and Cadillac St. Moritz Blue upper body paint.

Good morning everyone.

Overcast but no rain as of yet.

Well I'm not making Daytona Beach today. The flights are way oversold and the first flight left revenue passengers. It only gets better as the day goes on. So I'll take the first flight out in the morning. I shouldn't miss too much fun. I hate that I have to take the dogs to the kennel and then be without them tonight.

Sandy try cleaning your grille and other small places with a Qtip. What did you ever do about the oily smears on the hood? If it's too much detailer you might have to wash the car with a fairly heavy soap and then start over.

Clint does that stuff give you suicidal thoughts or just suppress your inhibitions. "I bet I could just drive into oncoming traffic! Screw them!" I never started smoking, which is strange to me because my Dad smoked.

Guess I'll do something, since I have the day to myself. I'll take the dogs in a little bit. Maybe with the rain my neighbors won't set the place on fire.

The below two pictures are of the car “Louise” just like it came from Lansing. With white painted stripes on the hood, Cutlass emblems and lower body color (Ice Blue Firemist) on the S S III wheels

Below is the window sticker or dealer’s copy of the shipping order for “Louise”. I have scrambled a few lines of information to hopefully keep fraudsters at bay. Also penned in by my Grandfather is the color of the paint since that part was never recorded by Oldsmobile. Louise also has - - on the Fisher Body trim tag where the paint code should be.

How about a breakdown of the options per the shipping order above? Can you say LOADED?

The next series of pictures are of “Louise” with dealer installed 442 (W29) appearance consisting of 442 badges on the fenders and deck lid and the 442 front grilles, wheels painted to top color St Moritz Blue and also hood stripes in St Moritz Blue.

August of 1972

December 1979 and OCA member #7225

November 1985

This is where the “Louise” spent the majority of her first 30 years same exact spot where the ’56 was parked in the picture above. (Note the Cutlass Supreme grilles re-installed)

April 1989

Also April ’89 (Note the OCA sticker in the windshield)

Here is my Dad and a few friends getting ready for a cruise from the high school parking lot 2003 before retiring “Louise” in lieu of his other projects.

Here she is waiting patiently for a refreshing with her patina from the Georgia weather and has been waiting since 2006 just like this when we backed her in her spot still purring like a kitten.

The worst part of the cancer that isn’t just surface rust

Thankfully the trunk and floor panels are solid so thankfully we were able to save her from further damage in the nick of time. She has never been wrecked and all of the trim work and bumpers is bright and will buff right out. I cannot wait to revive her and maybe make it up to homecoming where she was born in Lansing, Michigan.
One day ole girl, one day….

And that is how I sent it in to them Pictures I can post individually if requested.

Congrats once again Sandy

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July

Happity Humpity / Friday for some

Allan, sure is good to see your little signature gracing our board! I hope you're doing well, and hope you can check in with your Oldsmobuddies more often; we all miss you. I'm singing the "Welcome Back, Kotter" theme song as I type. (I wasn't a big fan of the show, but my two brothers never missed an episode ). I guess Gabe Kaplan is probably bald by now.

Scot, quite an interesting and detailed story on your car.... talk about provenance and sentimental value! Funny, 'cause my SF is the polar opposite. Yours has been known (essentially) before it even had a VIN; it was planned, conceived, built, and owned with pride and joy. Mine is the quintessential orphan; essentially a bastard (sorry... I know that's not PC) that nobody knows a dam thing about. STRICTLY WYSIWYG

Sorry your trip's delayed a bit, Mike. But maybe it's a gift in disguise.

The cow's been coming & going since the (smooth) ride in this morning. Sounds as if it's going to be a wet 4th in the Swamp. A little warmer this morning, and of course, the muggies are back in spades.

Jamesbo, if you're interested in meeting for some pizza over the weekend or rendezvousing somewhere for an hour or two, text me and we can see what's goin' on. But I know how busy dem holiday weekends are for you guys . We're still planning on our meeting in October in Hotlanta. We need to set the date soon, and see what's going on at the Fox, even if it's just a tour.

Whelp, leaving a little early to jump on the big ol' jet airliner, to quote Steve Miller. Y'all have a safe and happy holiday!

p.s.: Seinfeld is coming to N.O. for the grand re-opening of the Sanger Theater downtown at the end of September. I spent many an hour as a youngster watching the grand premieres of the big-budget movies there. This is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar resto, bringing it back to its glory days, pre-WWII, until it began its gradual decline in the early '70s.

Unfortunately, that's also the date for the better half's "Firm Weekend," which this year we're both pretty much obliged to attend (also my birthday weekend, BTW, which would make the Seinfeld show even more appealing). And here's an asterisk for those who appreciate "The Jerry": there are new episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee posted. It's officially Season 2 now!

Hi Allan! Hope this isn't an isolated appearance!

Quiet in the house. Ordinarily the dogs don't make much noise, but this is a different quiet. I don't much care for it. I did get their room put back together, again.

John you're headed up this-a-way for the weekend? There's some pretty good pizza in Marietta.

Okay gonna get ready to go for the morning and then hit the sack. I'm wacked. Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th.

Good Evening everyone and welcome back Allan (even if for a quick visit).

Still keeping very busy here. Worked on the Cutlass after work tonite and I finally think the wiring is more or less finished

I volunteered at a car show on Sunday. It was an all-GM show located at a local GM dealership. I also had the opportunity to volunteer to help move the cars to the back of the lot to make room for the show. That was fun! I got to drive everything from a Sonic to a Volt and an Escalade. Great show on Sunday, then got to do it all over again once the show cars left.

Scot, I just received my JWO today, but have not had a chance to read it yet. I will avoid all posts about it on here until I do

Now I have Welcome back stuck in my head I actually heard it on the radio a couple of weeks ago. I've never heard it on the radio before, then I think they played it 3 days in a row.

That's all I have time for tonite.

Happy Independence Day to all the Americans!

Evening All!

I didn't go to Chick Fil A tonight. Just didn't want to chance it with all the clouds that were around. We had some sprinkles around 8:00. I'm watching the local weather now on the news, and its showing all the rain from Georgia and the south coming right at us. Thanks...

Larry had a tree guy stop by tonight and look at our dead big maple tree. The guy is gonna take it down on Friday for $450.00. I got kind of upset cause Larry took the guy in the garage and showed him the Cutlass. Sorry, but I don't trust someone I've never met before. The guy had another young kid in his truck who was looking too. He lives down around Cincinnati he was saying, and goes to different areas to work for like a week at a time. So I locked the garage door tonight when I came in. I hate to be paranoid, but you never know!

I got the tater salad made when I got home from work. We went down to Giant Eagle and got some fresh burger and chicken tenders. I got a bunch of asparagus to wrap in foil and steam on the grill tomorrow. It will be yummy!

Nicole's friend Tony took her out to Hibatchi for dinner tonight for her birthday. He should have saved that money to put towards getting the Intrigue fixed, lol.

I have to pick up Nicole's cake tomorrow morning. She wanted a strawberry casada cake like I got Jean last year. I'll have to save room for it and not eat like a pig tomorrow, lol.

Well you all have a good 4th and be safe!!
