Don, my deepest sympathies.

Bbbrrrrr cold this morning. Frosty and about 15 degrees. Spose to warm up to 40ish today and then to the 60s this week before snow for the weekend.

Allan, No the shop has been open. just had to get it opened yesterday morning at the time I was posting.

Sandy, I'm done with winter. Done. Do something with it please...

Well, my SIL had a baby boy the other day. Would have figured the little guy could have tipped the scales at 11 or 12 pounds by the size of her before delivery, but he was just under 7. That is what is making life tense around here. The whole relationship is very toxic and I'm expecting WWIII any day now. My SIL married a less than likable fellow that has made it very clear that he expects his fair share of MIL's fruits of her hard work. SIL has been running the retail store and with her out on 'baby leave' my wife and daughter are running that store on top of the hay delivery business and taking care of the 50 head at the stables. The SIL believes she is still entitled to her full pay while absent (They have bills to pay, and he doesn't seem to believe its his responsibility). But the retail store, altho is doing better, is not fully sustainable in making her full payroll, so they are pulling funds from the hay business. She also has it in her head that she will need a hired hand to help her with the store while she may need time to tend to the baby during the day.
At least we are mostly done with calving. I think we have one more expecting and that's it.
Well have a great Tuesday Olds Friends.

Don, So sorry for your loss

WITH rue my heart is laden For golden friends I had,
For many a rose-lipt maiden And many a lightfoot lad.
By brooks too broad for leaping 5 The lightfoot boys are laid;
The rose-lipt girls are sleeping In fields where roses fade.

Morning All!

Crisp and sunny here right now, temps around 24. We have the winter storm coming in later with rain, then turning to snow. They said to expect 2 - 4 inches here, most of the storm is heading south of us, they think. I am soooooooooo tired of this already!

Clint, believe me if I could, Adrian would be getting all this friggin cold and snow, lol! What a friggin winter this has been, and it's one of these that are not going to let go anytime soon. I don't even want to think what kind of spring and summer we're gonna have...... It better be hot and friggin dry! Sorry to hear about the drama.... nothing worse than family drama..... good luck with that, lol!

Steve is over in PA this morning seeing a customer, so it's nice. Brian is in a better mood today. He was kinda pissy all day yesterday and really got on my nerve's.

I overslept this morning. Must not have hit the snooze and just laid there listening to the music and dozing, until I thought 'it's awful light in here', lol. Looked at the clock and it's 7:13!! Jumped up, made coffee, threw on some clothes and left the house. I hate rushing around.

It's a quiet morning in here. Not many phone calls yet...

I have to go to Giant Eagle at lunch time and order Larry's cake for his birthday on Friday. Probably pick him up a Lowes gift card while I'm there. He will be taking Friday off. He always takes his b'day off. Me, it doesn't matter, I always work. My b'day has never been a big deal to me, but his is to him. He wants a chocolate cake with white icing.... not very creative, lol. I'll probably pick up some chicken or something for dinner on my way home Friday evening - I asked him if he wanted to go out to eat and he said no, sooooo....

I gave Nicole a job ad for a vet receptionist I saw in the paper at a place over in Stow. I hope she stops by there after school today and applies.

My "home" page is missing on here. I don't know where it went? When I get on here it usually pulls up the page that has all the conversations/threads listed on it, who's on line, members and guests, who's b'day it is, etc..... with the banner at the top, but for the last few days it's been coming up in the 'forums' page? I don't know where the other page went or how to get back to it??? Help!!!!!! I never sign out of the site, I just close it. I signed out and back in thinking that would bring the page back, but it didn't.

Well you all have a great day!

Hey everyone.

Just got back from running around looking for a bag to take on the airplane. Whatever happened to having a luggage store? All the gym bags or sport bags look like something out of an 80s future movie. Nothing looks like it would hold up to any stress. The bag I use now I think I got in 1989.

Looks gloomy all of a sudden. Thunderstorms to the northwest of the city today, looks like it will miss us here in the Greater Stockbridge Area, which is fine by me. It's all supposed to be gone by tonight anyway. Chicago is getting 10 inches of snow as a warm up to heading over to Sandy.

Clint the inlaws sound like fun, not. The man doesn't help at the store at all but wants his cut? The SIL wants full health benefits and an assistant? If the store is running better without them there, shouldn't that send a messge?

First night of four tonight. Methinks it's going to be a long week. I felt okay when I woke up this morning but have been going down hill since. Going to the mall didn't help matters. Maybe I'll try to get in a nap before work. My neighbors want me to go out fishing with them this afternoon, think I'll pass on that one.

Mike - the storm is heading here too unfortunately. Supposed to start tomorrow after rush hour and continue into Friday. Not saying how many inches we're supposed to get as it depends on how much is rain. I went out into my yard and started to tie up my arbovitae as many are still bent all the way over from the last storm.

I think I'd rather go fishing with your neighbors. Mind if I take your place?

Good morning everyone.

Windy as all get out today, and last night. Glad I was working inside. It's supposed to be windy all week I heard. Yikes.

Darrell come on down. We got fishing. We got boating. We got a beach to lay out on. Okay that might not be inviting right now. The neighbors didn't catch any fish, but they did get attacked by a swan. It swam up and was biting the motor and the side of the boat. It must be goofy.

I hope the dogs played enough outside when I got home, because I am beat, and I don't want to have to get up a bunch of times for them today.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Morning All!

Well they missed with our forecast, thank God! No snow, it's a nice 38 degrees and a little sun trying to peek through the clouds. I guess South of us down Canton/Salem way they have some snow, but I don't think it's major. We could get flurries or snow showers today but it's supposed to stay warm.

Darrell.... I hate to think that the East coast is gonna get even more bad weather. What did you folks do over there to **** off mother nature, lol? It's been a terrible weather season. I really don't care if DC gets snowed in or not.......

Well Nicole found out she'll be doing her externship at the Doggy Day Care place in Hudson. She applied for a job there already a few weeks ago, but they said they weren't hiring until Spring. But they really liked her when she shadowed there, so they're hoping they can hire her later on. I swear to God I've never seen such an "unemployable" person before.... I don't know what it is she does or doesn't do to lose jobs like she does. She always says 'nothing' when I ask her, lol.

Jamesbo.... what ya goin to do in the city today? Anything fun??

I have a doctor appt. at 5:00 tonight, so I get to duck out of here a little early.

Well you all have a good humpday!

Yup it is quite chilly especially with the wind Right now it's in the mid 30's with wind chill in the mid 20's. Everything is flooded here still, so no fishin for me for awhile.

Clint hopefully things will fair up soon. What kind of projects are you working on this month? Anything cool?

Well I went to the best little meat market this side of the Mississip yesterday Only spent $120 and got enough meats to last a few weeks Steaks, ground beef, tenderloins, ribs, chicken, pork chops, roast, stew beef and even some of Cajun Phil's boudin Yummy Their prices, service and high quality keeps me coming back time and time again

Mawnin, all.... glad the storm wasn't as bad as they were predickin'.... Mom-in-law in Peoria was bracing for the worst; said it was gonna be "ice-city" on the roads today, so she planned to do a lot of reading over the next day or so.

Don, my sincere condolences upon your recent loss. With so many good things about you mentioned over my couple years on this board, I'm hoping you're back to stay.

And BTW, I love that '65. I came close to buying two different '65 SF conv't's, but finally settled on the '64.

Retirement update: 4-day workweek definitely "out." But since my initial extension is only thru 5/16, it doesn't make that much difference. I told them if I stayed on, I'd be taking 2-3 days LWOP per month. They seemed OK with that; but I'm not sure I want to keep the rig-a-ma-role and commute up for the longer term. We'll see what happens after mid-May.

Great hump day to all oldsmofriends.

I see them almost daily ! Don't take that the wrong way , I'm not comparing them with your daughter or anything . I just thought what you said was funny . There are certain members in MY family tree that take great pleasure in taking that a step further by not finding work at all . They just collect off of us taxpayers . They also went as far as having a family while they were unemployed too . My guess would be that what's going on with your daughter is just an age thing . Something we all go through .

Don't forget your beanie !

Speaking of weather lately .... My place of employment are taking the " politically correct " wussie highway now . Everytime it snows a little bit , they send us all home . I get paid for it , but I don't get OT that I would of had by the end of the night . Grrrrrrr

Hey everyone.

Was a cool day today and overcast. I saw it three times before I really wanted to.

Bryan I thought you worked at HD. I can't imagine they'd be politically correct with anything.

Jamesbo how'd you do in de big city? Aside from the Jewish funeral director, did you go to the cyclorama? Varsity? Take in a show at the Fox? Sit in inane traffic cursing at everyone?

John I hope your people fare well up in IL. No one around here believes me when I say I've lived through feet of snow, arctic tempuratures, drifts, etc. It's all too real I hate to say it.

Sandy good luck to Nicole on the externship. If she really likes this place it will show and they will be ready to hire her in the spring.

Time to HTB once again. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Sandy - glad to hear it missed you. So far, nothing really going on here except a lot of wind. Hopefully no more power outages. We are supposed to get rain, wind, and snow through midday Friday totaling around 7-8". I'll keep you updated.

Hope your drs appt went well.

Have a good night everyone.

Mawn'in all

Well de wind finally lay down so it don't feel as chili as yesterday.

Mike, De first thing I learnt 'bout de funeral business is appointments don't me nutt'in. Cause when de need comes everone else get's put on hold. Zo I didn't have de meet'in.

I've haven't been to de cyclorama since Gramar school [or de Wren's nest fer dat mattter] Have never seen de New Panda at de zoo.

When I was a pup de Gorillla Willie B was de hit. De used to have bumper stickers dat said "Willie B.......will he?" Mean'in did he like girl gorillas and was he gonna make mo baby gorilllas or jest swing 'round on his stupid tire swing.

I guess I should splain. when I say I'm go'in into de city I usually mean Butthead not downtown. Missed e big V but had de worst $15 roast beef sandwich I ever had wit a bud of mine. He used to werk at Emory but now werks at Oglethorpe University.

Bambi or one of his buddies busted up one of my fences yesterday, so when I warms up, I'm gonna do sum repair werk.

Have a Great day Olds friends.

Hey good morning everyone.

Cold night last night, working out on the ramp. I mostly stayed in the cabin so it wasn't so bad. We also had a truck outside we kept running with the heat on so if we needed to go into the hangar we wouldn't freeze our tootsies off.

So Jamesbo what you are saying is there is no traffic in Buckhead?

Maybe someone can answer me something. A guy posts the VIN from a 70 W30 that he has the motor for, and he's looking for whoever has the rest of the car. Someone else chimes in and says that car would be a November 69 build. The last six starts out 283. Now, my Lansing built 70 Cutlass has a build date of January 70, and the last six are 242. This is the thread that someone in CT is selling a W30 sans drivetrain and everyone is up in arms because he won't divulge the VIN. I'm hesitant to bring this up there because of the "heavy hitters" that are on the thread and would get their knickers in a bind if someone dared challenge them. Am I missing something here, did the W30s get a different VIN sequence or did the experts miss one this time? I have no interest in the car just found this curious, and the VIN in question has nothing to do with the original post.

Beautiful day starting out. I'll probably see more of it than I want to. Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Mike, I was drug up in Butthead an it's a wonderful place to be "from" Beleive it or not, my grammar school was at de corner of Peachtree and Piedmont [almost the hard corner] way back when, my next door neighbors granparent GAVE de land fer de school to de county [when Butthead wasn't part of de city]

De long awaited point to all of dis is I knows all de back streets so I avoid as much of de stupid traffic as possible and only go during certain times of de day. I'm in an out before de hard core morons know I've been down dare.

I used to take foreigners for a tour dat included. Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill, Oakland cemetery, Cabbage town, Sweet Auburn and ended by showing them de Jap Zero parked downtown.

Becuase of de busines I''m in I have to leave brochures in some places I normally would go to. Like Little 5 , De Village and sum other parts of town where folks seem to like making holes and putting assorted jewlery thru ever orifice of their bodies.

Morning All!

A cold 30 degrees here this morning, some flurries. Warm up starts tomorrow!

I walked around the yard last evening and I only saw 3 little Crocus' with color on them. I seem to be missing quite a few of them, it looks like. They didn't even come up, and there were tons of them! So I don't know where they went....... maybe the moles got the bulbs. The yard is full of mud humps from the moles... it might be too early yet for some, though I do have some that bloom in the snow. So I'm sure the friggin deer will come along and eat the only 3 flowers I have so far.

The duck couple was out under my bird feeders this morning eating the seed in the grass. It's nice to see them back when the weather gets warmer.

I can't wait to set the clocks up this weekend!!! Daylight is a wonderful thing. I have to schlep down the container of Easter decorations and get the yard decorated. I keep forgetting Easter is at the end of this month this year! Gotta get my egg dying kit too.

Nicole has her last job shadow today. She's in Ravenna at the Dog Pound.

You make me laugh, Jamesbo!

Well you all have a good day.

The top of Thursday mornin' to you, Oldsmofriends.
Hope everybody is still dodgin' the snowflakes; I think Mom-in-law fared fine -- she's just reading by her toasty fake fire in her den with her 21-y.o. kitty at her feet (mostly b/c the poor thing ["Torchy"] can't even jump up any more).

And speaking of kitties, our #4 seems to be healthy as a horse; she's pretty much living the life of riley as of late. She's a beautiful thing (pretty calico) and eating like there's no tomorrow -- which just might be true, unfortunately. We're gonna' bring the little darlin' to the shelter today or tomorrow.

I told Mom-in-law I'd drive the thing to Peoria if she'd adopt, but she ain't buyin'... I think she's just waitin' fer Torchy's flame to finally be quenched so she can have some rest from the kitty-maintenance thing at long last.

Went to eye dr. yesterday for the 3rd eye exam of my adult life. I'm actually getting my first pair of prescription glasses Being that I sit in front of this monitor day in and day out, he says they'll help my eyes in the long run; and there's always been some disparity b/w my left & right... slight astigmatism in left.

S'poze to be a $25 co-pay w/ my insurance, but by the time the optometrist finishes selling you the undercoat, floor mats, and whitewalls, it's $160~! Sheesh.... sure glad for insurance.

Well, y'all stay warm & dry as we slide on into the weekend tomorrow.

John.... I got my first pair of glasses when I was 43 or 44. Started out with reading glasses, then to bi-focals, then to the tri-focals! Your eyes get to where they depend on the friggin things, lol. This pair I have now cost me right around $400, 2 years ago. I went to Sears vision for them. I got the frames, the plastic lens, the anti glare and tint. The eye exam itself was like $45.

We just switched to Cigna ins. so I'm not sure if they pay anything for vision. With Untied Healthcare, the eye exam was our $20 co pay, and then a deduction on certain frames. Mostly the ugly ones, lol! Eye exams at Wal Mart have shot up to $70 which I think is too high. I'm due to get another eye exam since it's been 2 years. Don't know where I'll go this time. I need new lenses - these ones are soooo scratched.

What's HD ?
Harley Davidson. Mike, W30's did not get unique vins other than starting with the 442 identifier from 68-71 (34477, 34487, 34467), of course 1972 did have it's own identifier by being the only Olds with an "X" in the vin, indicating the W30 motor, along with the few '72 H/O's that were optioned with the W30 engine.

Hi, everyone.....a

Thanks all for the kind condolences....

It was a brisk 41f when I drove down the mountain to Spartanburg for an appointment with my gastroenterologist for a consultation about my impending colonoscopy due to be performed on April 11th at 11:30am.

Dr. Al Mossberg and I had a long discussion where he wondered whether I really thought I needed this procedure at age 83. I asked him, "If you were me, would you do the colonoscopy?" He said that he certainly would have the procedure. Then he told me that the prep was better than the last time, told me what it entailed. I said that I was game-on and that I would be there on time ready for the 20 ft. black hose (ugh.)

Stopped at the Dollar-General to pick up some goodies like Reese's Minis and Rolo Minis.

Then back up the mountain....

G'bye all....

Evening all.

What a nice day it was today. In fact it's still mild but supposed to get frickin' cold again tonight. I was just saying to the dogs, one of these days it will be light when we're outside at 8pm. Do we really set our clocks forward this weekend?

Don sounds like the mini Reeses and Rolos are some comfort foods. Why would the doctor think you didn't think you needed this?

Thanks Dan. I figured I was right but I'll let it slide. Those guys on that other thread are a little touchy.

Jamesbo I've been to Buckhead a couple times. Went to the Cheesecake Factory with a buddy of mine once and he was trying to set me up with every waitress in there. I said, I wasn't aware I was wanting to date these women. He said, trust me, you need to. I never found out what that meant but I didn't "land" one, either.

I got my first glasses when I was in second grade. My Dad picked out two queer looking frames, and said I could choose between the two. Actually they were the same frame, one was black and one was brown. I said no way. Well, with my Dad things were his way or his way the hard way, so it was queer looking glasses for me. I cried for a week. And my Mom wondered why I never wanted to wear them.

Okay! Day three. Hope eveyone has a good night and is ready for Friday.

Welcome to Friday, Oldsmofolks. 'Bout time... we're in for a warm, dry weekend, at last....

Took off a little early yesterday to bring the kitty to the shelter and I spooked the varmint... she caught her claw on the door getting into the carrier and freaked out and jumped out of my hand, so that was the end of that. Gonna' have to keep the booger over the weekend and try again next week. So since I was home a little early -- after spending half an hour trying to corral the little imp into the carrier -- I cut my grass for the first time. The miserable weeds had pretty much taken over everything, and a big portion of the ground is still too waterlogged to mow... got the stinkin' mower stuck twice; that's always fun; and then it leaves more big ruts in the grass.

One of these years, I'm actually hoping to start the front end work on the Olds. But maybe I should try to drive it on occasion before that...

Sandy: I haven't really been able to function without my 1.25 "readers" for over 10 yrs now; and I've always known my left eye wasn't quite a sharp as my right; so I hope I'm making the right decision...

I have Cigna; but they don't cover vision (at least this policy doesn't). We have to buy a separate policy for vision.

These ones I'm getting are trifocals, but I think are called "progressive" lenses, which accounted for I think $80 of the sticker shock. Other "xtras" were polycarbonate, anti-scratch coating, and something else I forgot.... they wanted to sell me "transitions" for another $70 or $80, but since I don't need glasses to drive, I passed on that.

My Mom (and most of her siblings) fought with glasses their whole adult lives; I always felt sorry for them... they never did seem to be able to get a pair that they "liked." Either they couldn't see out of them or the glasses gouged up their noses ... or both.

The better half wears contacts about 5-6 days of the week; she usually takes a break one day a week; but it's just like putting on her clothes; it's usually a non-issue, thank goodness.

Good luck w/ the new exam! I know about the scratches; they're the bane of having to wear my reading glasses, which I have been buying (in bulk) at Sam's for 10 or so years; at least they were cheap... I'll prolly still wear them in the house & garage...

Hopefully the anti-scratch thing will work on my new ones.

Y'all have a great Friday and weekend. Hope everybody at least gets a sample of the springlike weather we're due this weekend in the swamp

Morning All! That would be you right now, Jamesbo!

Where is everyone? It's Friday!!!!! Cool and cloudy here right now, sun is supposed to come out later on.

Steve is off today - I didn't know! So it will stay at least 5 degrees cooler in here today, lol.

Today is Larry's birthday. He took the day off. Of course he was up at 7:15..... you just can't surprise this man. You'd think after all these years, I'd give up trying to. I wanted to decorate the table this morning with confetti and balloons and put his gifts out, then he gets up. So.... so much for that. Then before I leave the house he snorkely says "is there going to be cake and ice cream tonight?" I said yes..... he grumpily said "well Jr. asked me and I told him I didn't know what you had planned." Now, he knows better. Would I let a birthday go by without cake and ice cream???? I don't think so. Next year I will make a formal friggin announcement so everyone is in the loop! You'd think I would know to do that already too..... birthdays are just not a good occassion in our house for some ungodly reason. He's always snorkey and sarcastic......

So I'm going to stop at Mr. Chicken tonight on my way home and get some grub, since he didn't want to go out to eat. Then I guess Jr. and Elyse will come over for cake later.

I'm gonna get the Easter decorations down from the garage this weekend and put them out. I hope to take Lin shopping and get that done too since I didn't do it last weekend.

Don..... good luck with your colonoscopy! God, I hate those things. Jamesbo is right.... drinking that prep is the worst! I don't care what friggin flavor of the stuff they give ya, it's all nasty. I don't know why people just can't take a bunch of laxatives instead of having to drink that crap. I can never finish it. And I tell them I didn't finish it when I go in. When I start trying to throw up as I'm drinking it, I'm done!!!!!! Might just as well eat salt by the handfuls since that's what it tastes like. I think I was supposed to have mine done last year, but the doc didn't mention it so neither did I!! Nasty things......

Well you all have a good day when you wake up, lol!!

Good Friday Mawnin All

Gonna be a nice day here

Can't decide if I want to set up a sale for the peaches to beaches or go to the Dukes of Hazzard reunion at the long defunct Byron raceway (Place of the Byron Pop Festival in '70 and where Richard Petty won a few of his many races) Hmm I guess I need to make some dough rather than spend it Spending it is way more fun for sure...

This thread is always a hoot especially with all of the wonderful people that post here. It's like a box of cracker jacks, you never know what prize is within or if there is a prize at all. But conversing with whom I consider great friends is always a prize regardless of the tangent.

Whelp gotta get Take care Olds friends

That's for sure. Colonoscopies, glasses, lawn and garden equipment.... no topics off limits here.

Sandy - I know your frustration in suprising people on their birthday. Had the same problem with my wife a couple of months ago.

Snowing here today, we have about 4" and should get another 2" before it stops. Kids are excited but it won't last. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be in the 50's. Spring's a coming.

Have a good day everyone.
