Evening everyone. Quiet here today and in the 40's. The snow's been melting here and things should be back to normal soon. Schools have been closed and will reopen tomorrow. I bet that inbetween superstorm Sandy and the blizzard of 2013, the kids will be in school in July.

The crews have been clearing the roads of all the stranded cars but I bet most of the cars have been badly damaged. I watched last night as they pulled a Honda Accord out of the snow (Piled as high as the top of the car) with a chain attached to the back tire. The car was flat sided, probably from the plows going right next to it and pushing all the snow into it. Also have seen payloaders lifting the backs of cars out of ditches. Great right? Glad it wasn't my car. Also, they finally plowed all the side roads today.

Hope everyone has a great night.

Darrell, you need to move to someplace where it doesn't snow or rain a lot.

Ever wonder why most 'Hurricanes' are name after wimmen? Prolly cause it's too awkward to call them 'Himmicanes' after men...

Morning All!

A nice crisp 31 degrees here, light frost, but it's a nice morning. No wind at all so it doesn't feel so bad outside. It's hotter than Hades in here.... 76 and rising. My fan is going on soon. I can't breathe..... No wonder Steve is sick, I swear! His heater is blasting....

Adrian.... that's a lot of water running off there! The weather is so strange anymore. Burning up one day, flooding the next....

Darryl... I saw some of that car moving on TV and was glad my car wasn't buried too, lol. They don't care, they just want to get the snow moved.

So that fugitive holed up in Big Bear Lake, CA.... that's where Nicole's friend Nick lives! She visited him out there, remember?? I asked him if the house the guy was supposedly in and burned last night is close to his parents house and he said no. That's a good thing!! I was worried about him. I don't think the guy burned in the house... I think he got out. He's too smart.....

We didn't watch any of the 'Tom and Jerry' show last night. Didn't want to hear anything that was said. We watched recorded shows instead. I'm really liking The Following. It's kinda like Criminal Minds, which I love! Some sick people out there. Scary thing is, I'm sure there are more of those 'cults' out there than we know about...

Well you all have a good hump day!

Happy Hump Day everyone.

Like Elvis, the rain has left the building! It's clear out now but a bit of a cold wind. It's better than rain if you ask me.

Work wasn't too bad last night, spent most of the night sitting in a truck watching an airplane run its engines. Spent the rest of the night taking an engine off another plane. We actually had a good time, don't know how that happened but it was refreshing to be relaxed at work. Hm.

Stopped for gas on the way out last night and it was 3.55. Up from 3.39 a couple days ago. When I first got the Saturn in 07 it cost me a whopping 10 bucks to fill it, now it costs 30. I've heard gas might make it to 4/gal by April but then get really cheep(whatever that means) over the summer.

My neighbor brought me over some linguini in clam sauce tonight. Boy is she a good cook. Not too long ago she and the husband were on the outs, and it sounded like he wanted a divorce. I said, don't send her away, who will take care of us? He said you're right, and that was the last of that kind of talk.

Night 3 awaits. Hope everyone is good, the week is well past the half way point.

Mmmmm, linguini with clam sauce...you sure she doesn't still want a divorce??

I know what you mean about filling the Saturn then and now. Still, it's a pretty economical car to run. Do you know if a different harness is needed to swap out the SOHC to the DOHC? Same displacement, not sure if it's the same block though.

Have a great shift!

Evening everyone. Things are pretty much back to normal around here and all the kids are back to school. We have used so many days between hurricane Sandy and the blizzard, that the kids now have to go to school on President's day. (I didn't know they could do that since it is a federal holiday.)

In the 40's today but we are supposed to get 3 more inches of the white stuff tonight.

Good morning everybody.

Good night at work. We were inside changing an engine on a 757. That's one of the easiest engines to change. Had a few other things on the plane to mess with. Tonight is Friday and it's well deserved I might add.

Jamesbo funny you should say that. I have a Suburban that has a 40 gallon tank. And yes it takes 100 when I fill it because that's where the pump shuts itself off. Security reasons, but I'm more than welcome to slide my card again and pump another 100. Strange. When I bought this car a couple years ago, I picked it up at the seller's house and drove down the street to the gas station and promptly put 80 into it. Yikes.

Allan I don't know if the twin cam is the same motor as the base motor. At the very least I'd think it would be different pistons. Also different computer and front plate. Mine is tired and all's I want is for it to make 200K. If it ever blows up completely I think it would be cool to replace it with a turbo charged Sky motor.

My neighbor makes linguini every so often, but what I really like that she makes is Italian Wedding soup. That is scrumptious. She used to make spaghetti squash with shrimp but it's been awhile. Anything she makes is good. Come summertime I'll be worthy of the good treatment when I start in with the yardwork. I sort of feel like a freeloader now.

Okay time for bed. Hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day.

Morning All! Happy Valentines Day!!!

Cold and crisp this morning, light frost. Temps around 31. Supposed to get up to 40 later, cold and snowy again tomorrow.

I left different heart shaped chocolates on the table for Larry and Nicole this morning, along with a card and scratch off tickets for each of them. That's all I'm doing, lol. I have to go to the hair place after work tonight and I won't get home until 8 ish, so I had to leave their stuff out this morning.

Brian brought his lunch again today. I hate it when that happens. It's quiet again in here. Not that busy.

Larry is working on refinancing the building so he gets a smaller payment. He was talking to the accountant about things when he took our tax stuff over last week. Somehow he can rent the building back to himself or something, I don't understand all that stuff. I don't see that it will save on us paying taxes, since if his income goes up he still pays more taxes... I dunno. I'm not an accountant.

We got our new benefit info packet from Houston yesterday. We now have Cigna health insurance instead of United Healthcare. I liked United, never had a problem with them. Guess Cigna is cheaper for the company. Welcome to the new world of healthcare..... Co-pays and such look to be about the same. We still have the high $1500 deductible, and $3500 out of pocket before they kick in. I'm debating getting the dental ins. again. It went up from $28 a paycheck to $32 this year. My medical went up from $86 to $90. Not big increases. I didn't use as much of the dental ins. last year as they took out of my check, lol, so I don't know if I should get it again. I think Nicoles teeth cleanings were $300 and mine were $200, but out of my check came over $700. I just worry with this TMJ in my jaw that I might need it. Medical insurance doesn't cover TMJ, and dental doesn't cover the whole thing, but it might help. I dunno..... gotta think about this one. I'd like to put at least 3% into my 401k this year, since I haven't put anything in it since I've worked here. The company is matching up to 6% now. Pretty soon there will be so many deductions coming out there won't be a paycheck! It is what it is, I guess.

Well you all have a great day!!

Happy St. Val's Day to all of you.

Bry, no problem... I didn't hurt myself... Marmalade came out scrumptious, I must say.... will post pic's this weekend... hopefully. It's very labor intensive. I need to learn how to really "can" for next time. I have quite a big batch, and I'll prolly wind up freezing some of it.

Got into the 30s last nite, and cow finally appears to be taking a hike... spose to reach close to 60 today. Splendid day in the swamp

Think I'm going to fix us a little sirloin steak on the grill tonite, bake a coupley o' russets, throw a salad together, and call it Valentine's Day.

Y'all have a great one.

'Evening everyone.

What a nice day it was today. I saw much more of it than I wanted. I wonder if I put a TV in the dogs' room and had a 10 hour tape of me popping on the screen every few seconds saying their names, if that would keep them up and they'd want to sleep all day.

But a nice day it certainly was and I hope the cold and rain are gone now for awhile. It's a beautiful night, though it's going to be cold. Thus the ever present quandry of wanting to work inside or out.

Friday for me tonight, then three days of working feverishly on the van to get it ready for next week's trip. I'm taking it regardless of what I get done, but the more I get done the more comfortable the trip will be.

I'm stuffed. I had just finished the last of yesterday's linguini when my neighbor brought over mexican meat and rice. Oh so yummy. No I have no willpower when it comes to my neighbor's cooking.

Sandy when Brian isn't looking you should hide his lunch so he has to go out anyway. Perhaps you could bribe him, offer to buy his lunch every now and then just as long as he leaves!

Allan some of my all time favorite characters are Winnie the Pooh and all his friends. I still watch him when the specials are on.

Okay gonna hit the road. Hope everyone enjoyed the special day and is ready for a good weekend.

Morning everyone.

Long night at work. We were attempting to remove the right main gear from a DC9. Delta was the largest operator of 9's but we got rid of the last one in the 80s. Not many people these days have ever seen them. We got the current batch from Northwest and they are all, challenging. Hope it's gone by the time I get back to work.

Sunny and beautiful out right now. High around 60. Gonna get cold tonight so I hope my firewood is dried out.

Got the whole day planned to work on the van. I'm also going to see about hitting the junkyard this afternoon so I can get a nice radio.

Well everyone have a good day. Check in with ya later.

Morning Mike, lol! Wake up you sleepyheads! It's finally Friday.........

Cold here, in the 30's and cloudy. Supposed to get some flurries today, I think. We had some rain/snow mix during lunch yesterday. Real light, then it turned to rain. Said it was 40 out there, but it was a cold feeling 40, lol.

I went to the hair place right after work and didn't get home until after 8. They were busy there, and I had to wait. Must have been all the single guys and gals in there on Valentine's Day night. I was surprised they were that busy.

I had 50 cents off of gas at GetGo, so I was able to fill up Tincanio for $3.15/gal! I was happy with that. Still cost over thirty bucks...

Larry got me a ton of scratch off tickets and a card for Valentines Day, so I brought the tickets in here with me today so I can scratch them! Steve is off today so his heater isn't on. Brian has been BS'ing with someone on the phone for the last 45 minutes.... he didn't bring his lunch today, thank God! Mike... if we had more people here, I would take his lunch, lol. But it would be pretty easy to figure out who did it.

I took the Lysol wipes to Steve's desk, keyboard, mouse, phone, light switch and everything, before I touched anything in his office, lol. I would have liked to spray, but Clay would have complained.

Adrian..... I love that license plate, lol. Think I saw it on FB yesterday? It's great!

Well you all have a great Friday!

Morning all.

The Coyotes have been wiley to say the least. Our little JRT was hunting wabbits by the obstacle course yesterday and one of the boarders saw 2 yotes come around the poo pile heading towards him He chased them off before my daughters dog became dinner.

Love the car (and Plate) Adrian.

Really ready for some nicer weather. about 15F right now. had about an inch of snow yesterday. just enough to make things wet and sloppy

Sandy hope you win big!

have a great weekend all.

Mernin', Oldsmophiles & buddies

Another glorious day in Sportsman's Paradise . Was 37 at the Plantation and now in 50s on the South Shore. Really nice weather.

I thought there was still a bunch of DC-9s in service, Mike. They were really the workhorse of the industry for so long. Just hate sitting in the back by those engines . It's deafness & nausea city back there....
Good luck on the van. I'm planning all the stuff I'm gonna' do on the SF when this job ends. Have pretty much an endless list. First will be to do a coolant flush, and second will be a total front end rebuild. I think the only thing that's been changed since new were the upper control arm bushings. The lowers are a-squeakin' now. The #2 tier items are pretty much infinite.

Bry, I'll bet that pea soup was great -- and it makes for easy enactments of certain scenes from The Exorcist....

Y'all have a great weekend.... it's a long one for us. (Thanks, George Washington.)

Morning all

Not a good day today. Going to the memorial service for Bill Iverson. Bill was the membership chairman for the Puget Sound Chapter of OCA for as long as I can remember and was very active in all aspects of OCA. Bill died due to complications from cancer. He will be Missed

RIP Bill

morning all, first day back to work today.

Thanks guys, Tink bought those plates before she even had a car or license

First time driving the car yesterday, more then to the shed in first that is and there is a big clunking sound. Turns out the hemi has snapped in the diff from a previous owner so back to the shed it goes until I can fix that. Last time I buy a classic car that isn't American lol.

Time to get ready for work, have a good day olds buddies,

TGIF day rears it's head again....

For those of you that still are working, it must be a day of relief. Some of us, it's just another Saturday.

Clint - yotes are pretty smart aren't they. Seems they can spot you with a rifle before you even step out the door. I tried to get a shot off on one at my Uncle's farm years back. It was standing maybe 100 yards out in the field. Grabbed the 30-06 and opened the screen door. Just that little squeak sound and it looked at me, stuck out it's tongue and loped off. I tried anyway. Might have scared it a little but not much. Charlie had the same problems as you and carried his rifle handy all during the birthing season.

Mike - A DC9? Kind of a rare bird to see around now. I remember when they were 'new'. Flew on a few of em and really enjoyed the ride. One of the things that really reassured me about them? If they lost power they had a glide ratio of 14-1 which is almost unheard of nowadays.

Adrian - Almost looks like your 88 had a baby there! Sorry to hear about the diff problems. When you say hemi, what exactly are you referring to - ring gear???

Pat - my condolences for your friend Bill

Jamesbo - only lent I ever give up will be de stuff in de dryer or whut comes out from de belly button.... OH! differnt Lent wit a capitol. 40 more days till de ether bunny bounces into de young uns lives??

John - Y'all gotta go git some alleygator gar and fry it up for din din. Den, I would blieve ya lives in sportmans paradise.

Allan the DC9s were really the first jetliner that could get into small fields, and that's what made them popular. Delta was the launch carrier and we had a bunch of every series. The last 9s were built in the late 70s I think, and they are very labor intensive. It doesn't help that Northwest had some cockamamie maintenance practices that for some reason we still have to follow. The 9s are supposed to start being parked later this year, when we start getting the 717s from Southwest. Funny, that is basically the same plane, only 40 years newer. John I think of the majors we're the only ones with DC9s, unless you count the MD80 series. They are still type certificated as DC9 but only with a different dash number.

What a beautiful day. My neighbor called and wanted to go to breakfast. He hasn't been out of the house in weeks. This afternoon I'm going to make a table top for my Mom that I'll take to her next week. Then more work on the van.

Morning all.

Pat, Sorry to hear about your fellow Olds nut.

Mike, not sure if you are still lookin, but here is a nice lookin CS. Doesn't seem the owner knows much about it. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3620879756.html Cali and CO. so it should be pretty dry and rust free.

Sandy, 22 is better than zero.

Adrian, Can you use plates that are that old and not in use for a long time?

Have a great one, all.

Good Saturday Mawnin All

Rainy this morning, at least the weatherman was wrong last nite when he said there was a chance of the frozen flaky stuff today. Whew

Pat I am sorry to hear about Bill, sounds like a great guy

Allen a 30-06 would take care of a coyote alright

Mike you oughta come save the van before I decide to scrap it. I really hate to do it but the time is getting closer as necessity is beginning to outweigh the desire to hang on to it. Just drop your trailer off on your way down and I'll try to get it loaded for you while you are visiting and you can swing through and grab it on the way back from FLA.

Happy weekend everybody.

Such a productive morning. Started out at the Awful house, got some auto parts, got some stuff at Lowes, came home and built a table top for my Mom. After lunch it will be more working on the van.

I've been to that Awful house in Jonesboro years ago. The one I go to is in Stockbridge on North Henry Boulevard. Couple of questions I'd ask the sensationalist newscaster, what difference does it make if the worker washes her hands if she's putting gloves on anyway, and if everything was made right and the score was satisfactory prior to the news story, why was it still news?

Scot I still don't have room for that van, but if it has to go, that's okay. Its fate would be the same either way.

Clint that's a nice looking car. I've (sort of) stopped looking for stuff for awhile. I have no place to put anything and I'd like to get a few projects completed before I get into anything else. Everything I have is a project. I was going to go look at a Metropolitan today, but decided I don't even have room for it. I can't believe I'm saying all this. I'm not one to downsize.

Beautiful day out, but if it's going to make it to 60 it better hurry. Still, it's dry out so I'll take it.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
