Good Mawnin All

Going to be a beautimus day ere

Been cleaning up the yard(s) after all of the wind damage from the other day. I think one of my "Live" Oaks is dead Oh well too bad it isn't one of the Water Oaks Bad thing is that it is between the two houses so I can't just "throw" the tree like I normally would. I have my climbing gear still from when I was a tree surgeon but I need a climbing rope and some practice since it's been 20 years ago the last time I climbed a tree to take it down. At least the wind blew about 1/4 of the limbs down for me.

Well have a great day Oldsmofriends

Scot, Jes take your chain saw up to de top of the nearest pine and get the pine sway'in. When it's was close enough to take out a chunk you can get it down piece by piece.

Morning All!

Cloudy now, but nothing falling from the skies for a change! Temps around 21 degrees. Got another clipper - I think the 3rd one - heading towards us tonight, but this one is only supposed to bring light snow. They say we still have a minus 10" deficit in snowfall.... that's ok with me! I don't need the crap!

It's quiet in here too this morning. Hopefully all hell won't break loose Thurs. and Friday while the guys are gone. I'll be giving out New York's phone number like crazy, lol, so customers can call up there to get sales help. I know nuttin......

Nicole has an interview at a vet's office in Solon this afternoon. She went last week and filled out an application. Their ad is in the paper about every 3 months or so, so I'm not sure what kind of place this is to work at, lol. They don't seem to keep people very long, or people don't want to work there very long. We shall see.

Mike... it's hard to say with her. When she starts making summer plans with 'friends' she starts thinking that 'geeeee... a job might get in my way'! I don't know what she wants to do. At 20, I didn't know what I wanted to do. I just wanted a paycheck, lol. I didn't think about a 'career'. I've had some pretty crappy jobs in my time, too. If she doesn't want to be a vet assistant when this class is over, at least we didn't pay like $40,000 or some outrageous fee like some parents get stuck with. That would really pi$$ me off! I told her that this is all we can do to help her. The rest is up to her. She's wanted to work with animals since she was little, and we tried to help her reach that goal. All we can do.

Scot... you be careful climbing and cutting! Larry might have to take down one of our big maple trees by the house this summer. All the leaves fell off of it last year, for some reason. It got nice new leaves in the spring and was pretty, then the leaves just dried up. We don't know if the tree is dead or what, but if it does the same thing this year, he's gonna take it down so it doesn't fall on the house. It's the one I have all the bird feeders hanging from, so I'll have to move them.

Glad you're still around, Jamesbo!!

Clint... where ya at??

Well you all have a great day.

That oughta be a hoot to watch Luckily I cut all the pines out when I bought the place 20 yrs ago except for three humongous ones.

Thanks for the concern Sandy I thought about that too I ain't a spring chicken anymore now that the oldest is about to turn 21 So I may see if the neighbor wants to go in on a lift rental for the weekend. I used to be able to rent one on Friday evening and have to pay for Saturday, Sunday was free because they were closed and have it back on Monday morning. Then we can each have a day with it and only pay 1/2 price

That stinks about the Maple, but WOW do they make a mess, at least the one in my front yard does.

Larry said he will rent a lift from Home Depot like he did when he built the big garage. I didn't like being in that thing, lol. It swayed.... He also has to do some scraping and painting up along the roof line on the face of the garage, so he'll rent the lift and do both jobs. That lift ain't cheap, lol.

Mornin', Oldsmobuddies

Was only 55* home this mornin'.... almost balmy. But it rained half the nite, so roads were sloppy. Makes me glad I didn't wash the Camry over the weekend. It's filthy.

Parades start back in earnest tomorrow, then peaking Fat Tuesday. I usually get as far away from the routes as physically possible.

Good luck, Sandy. Watch that tree-trimming, Scot. We're all geezers now.
Love the Awful House Wedding, Allan . That's Mike in a year or two. Seinfeld will be playing on the TVs.

Speaking of whom, did you see his cameo on SNL the Saturday before last? It was pretty funny.... The Seth Meyers "editorials" have been alienating me as of late (prolly my least favorite cast member); but the show still has quite a few bright spots.

Well this has been a quiet place today, huh?? We have some SUNSHINE this afternoon!!! What a glorious sight! I was scared when I first saw it.... haven't seen it in so long.

Nicole just called me and SHE GOT THE JOB!!! She starts tomorrow 4 - 8 pm, 8 - Noon on Saturdays. I'm sure I'm being a little premature in my happiness, but I gotta enjoy it while I can, lol. I'm sure in a week she'll be whining and complaining and on her way to quitting. That's the track record. But maybe this one will be different. I sure hope so. She's real excited. At least right now. I think I'll take us out to eat at Olive Garden tonight to celebrate!!

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Sandy it's terrific that Nicole got the job. I hope she does well with it. Hope you enjoyed Olive Garden.

John, oddly enough I'm engaged to be married in 41 years. I hadn't thought of a venue but the Awful house would be appropriate. Imagine, people who haven't even been born yet will be attending. One thing I requested of my betroved is that Della Reese sing at the ceremony. I hope she's available.

I rented one of those cherry pickers once to cut down a tree. Let's just say it didn't turn out quite how it should have. Scot be careful with that thing.

So the Saturn has been hiding out at the airport the last couple weeks. I brought it home last night and it ran horribly. My gas mileage I figured out was down to about 23. This afternoon I went and got a set of spark plugs and put in, and it ran instantly better. I didn't realize the miles had piled up as much as they had. After 180K, they all seem to run together.

Nice day today, got up over 60. I'm guessing it will be 30s again tonight but should warm up early, as they're calling for fog in the morning.

Okay everyone have a good evening. It's off to get my lottery tickets.

I'll do just that Mike, be careful that is I wish I knew someone with a 65' or 72' bucket truck. Man that would be sweet, then I could dead limb all of my trees and shape them. I was a bucket operator for a contractor of our power company that cleared and trimmed the right of way(s) of the power lines for about 6 years. So I know what I am doing, but no matter how good you think you are, you have to be ready for anything with a running chainsaw in your hands.

Good luck on your tickets

Froggy and warm today with temps soaring into the 70's Although we have a 80% chance of seeing 2" of the wet stuff tomorrow Oh well we need it.

Jamesbo good luck with your venture at the GA DDS May want to stop at wally world and grab some hula-hoops, your gonna need them to jump through

I wish I did know someone at the fire dept to come knockout this oak tree, that would be all too easy Haven't seen any dead cats but there are plenty of GA frisbees laying here and there

Speaking of Olive Garden, I could live off of their never ending salad, minestrone and bread Yummy! And wouldn't even need a main course

Morning All!

Cloudy and some flurries this morning, temps around 24 degrees. Supposed to be on a warming trend now for the weekend! Works for me!!

We did have an enjoyable dinner at Olive Garden last night. I love me some pasta, lol. Nicole and I had some kind of angel hair pasta with roma maters - I forget the fancy name. It was good. Larry had steak of course. They do have a great salad and breadsticks too.

Nicole is still excited about the job.... thanks for the good wishes! Hope she likes it and sticks with it.

Jamesbo.... hope ya get all legal, lol! We don't have to take anything with us here, to renew our license. They just ask if you're still at the same address and such. I got a letter from the state one year saying my license was expired! I didn't even know it, lol. I never look at the darned thing. I think I'm good now until 2015. They sure are expensive nowadays though.

Speaking of expensive, gas shot up here to $3.69 at most stations yesterday. From $3.35. I got a gas hike alert from Gasbuddies.com, and sure enough when I went home prices were raised. No reason for it.....

Clay is off sick today, so Brian is all freaked out, lol. You know they're leaving for NY tomorrow morning, so today they need to keep up with what's here. Clay had to leave yesterday afternoon to pick up his oldest daughter from school because his youngest daughter has the flu and his wife was home with her, and didn't want to take her out to pick up the other one. So Clay left and came back. Now today he's off sick. I sprayed out at his desk real good this morning and used Clorox wipes on everything before I touched anything at his desk. Steve wasn't happy with the spray, but he'll get over it! I don't want the friggin flu, and I'll be the one out at Clay's desk the most today. Germs!!!!!

Mike..... Larry plays the lotto every night. We're trying to win the Mega, Powerball or Rolling cash 5. Doesn't matter, lol. I heard on the radio this morning that some lucky sap bought a scratch off - they didn't say which one - and won a million dollars, they went back to the same place the next day and got another scratch off and won $50,000! Lucky ba*tards!!!! Why can't that happen to me? I buy scratch offs all the time. I think you all should send me some Gawja scratch off's..... I've never had any from there, lol. That would be a nice surprise!!

Well you all have a great day.

Happy humpday to y'all.

Decent 'foreign' kinda day going on up here. Little on the chilled side but at least the ground is hard and dry instead of soft and wet.

Jamesbo - de gubment senz us license renewal stuff long ahead of wen de license is gonna expire. De only time we needs ta prove we wuz borned is when we first gits our license. Once de gubment got yer name and details dey won't never let ya ferget dat dey nose where ta find ya. speshully round tax time whichiz comin up soon. Hopes ya findz yer proof ov life an stuff. chek yer safety box?

Clint - Thank you! Hope you have a great day too!

Scot - Yup, I love them Olive Garden salads and breadsticks too! Sometimes I have to tell them to put my entree in a doggy bag cause I had too much salad. Love those peppers they put in there. How come their salads are always so crisp and fresh. I can't seem to duplicate that at home.

Mike - Mtce time on the Saturn? 180K isn't bad. I've seen some of them run over 400K and still be running fine. Joanne's car is just at 91K so there should be plenty o life left. It still gets around 28 mpg in the city and around 47 hwy.

Well it's absolutely gorgeous outside! The sun is soooooo warm and bright. The sky is blue! I really enjoyed my walk at lunch time. I stopped and just stood in the sun awhile, lol. The birds were singing over in the trees. I watched a Cardinal for awhile. He was just happy and singing away, lol. It's up to 31 degrees now, and there is no wind blowing today. It's just nice. Guess there's some kind of 'winter storm' that could hit NY, Boston, etc.. on Friday. Maybe these guys will get stuck up there, lol!! I wouldn't complain....

Morning all, good to see everyone is doing ok.

Lets hope Nicole likes this job and stays there for a bit longer then a week hey Sandy

So how did whitey go Jamesbo? Did he cooperate this week for you?

I had to renew my license the other week too, cost me $150 for 5 years. Last time it was less then $100 They say it is because they have updated the licenses so they have smart cards in them and they cost more to make. Next time though apparently I can just pay online and they will update the system so my license will be the same. Some how I think I will still pay the same but

They do the same thing here Allan, but sometimes people are forgotten and don't get there renewal

We filled the Olds up 2 days ago at $1.35 a litre and the next day that servo went up by 16c a litre good thing the one around the corner was still at $1.35 a litre when I filled up the motorbike yesterday

Time to go fit a "new" cutting deck to my mower. The old one crapped out big time and I wasn't paying $700 for a new one so I got one off a different mower from online for $50, now I just have to modify it a bit and the mower will be good as new

Have a good day all,

Adrian

Adrian - you gotta stop running over crocs with the mower mate, the deck will last longer. We got hit with the same hike here (.16/L) spread out over 2 weeks though. It sux because I keep hearing about how there's a glut of gas on the market. The yearly tag renewal for the cars came at the start of the month. We can pay it on line, and they accept our proof of insurance by checking the policy number we give them. Nice - they mail out the new tags and I just have to stick em on the car. Got those new 'theft proof' plate screws to ward off the buggers who try to ****** them.

DL license fees have to be paid at the registry because they take a new picture and update your 'vitals', then ask for the old license back. New one costs 84.00 for 5 years. Glad I don't have my class 2 certificate license anymore. It was way more expensive and renewed every 2 years.

Hey everyone.

My Mom called tonight to say she found a story book that I used to read when I was little. I remembered them fondly, but think they might be a little, well, old fashioned for today's kids. She used up all the time I had to get ready for work now I'm running late. Eh, always nice to talk to my Mom.

Hope everyone has a good night. One more and it's the weekend.

Gee Mike, they wouldn't have titles like Brer Rabbit, Uncle Wiggily and Lil Black Sambo by any chance? I beremember dem from when I was young too. Bet if you read them to kids now you'd get locked in the pokey. Prolly they're on the banned list like 'Catcher in the Rye" - J.D. Salinger was back when I was growing up. Civil rights issues and what not are different 50 years later....

Hey, anyone here planning to buy the new Blackberry Z10 when it's released down there next month? I see them rated pretty decent from a tech point and some of the carriers are offering some decent prices (139) with a 3 year plan. Wonder if Blackberry can recoup the market it's lost to Apple and android platforms? As of yesterday RIM no longer exists - they officially changed over to Blackberry on the NYS and NASDAQ. On yesterday's morning news there wasn't a huge lineup to buy, but the irony is that most everyone wants the white blackberry z10.

Good evening everyone.

Mike - that's cool that your Mom found that. Mom's definitely are good for saving memories....my Mom gave my Raggidy Andy doll that I had when I was a kid to my son. Didn't even know it was still around.

Sandy - Glad you enjoyed the nice weather. We had a nice day too, got up to 41. One more nice day here before the winter storm on Friday.

Have a great night everyone.

How many of you remember Paul Harvey? You probably remember him best for his radio monologue "The Rest of the Story". I used to tune in every day just to listen to him. One of the most powerful radio voices with a message that often tugged at the heartstrings with his rich clear tones, sometimes fast, a pause to accent but NEVER dull. So when this commercial was aired at SB, I couldn't help but stop and admire the message we all pretty much take for granted. I have watched this countless times and after a while I don't see the truck anymore, I just hear the heartfelt message. I know there's a farmer in just about all of us but he doesn't come out to play as often as we'd like him to. I truly hope everyone sees the values in it that I do.

Mornin', Oldsmobuddies

Really gettin' a soakin' in da' swamps. Rained all nite and all the way in to work this mornin'.

Loved Paul Harvey, but his son kinda' brings to mind the Frank Sinatra Jr. syndrome; tries to just be a clone of his Dad. Like a Cutlass with 442 W30 badging. (Trying to strike more of the gold his Dad mined, but at least Dad deserved it.)

Mike, don't forget your Oldsmofriends for the wedding. Della Reese would only be 123 in 41 years; just warming up..... I'm sure it'll be one helluva reception.

I volunteer to queue up the Seinfeld episodes on the wide-screens. Jerry'll be dead by then, and Larry David will have been dead for 30 years (massive coronary ca. 2023).

I plan on arriving in my 394-powered wheelchair, which will be converted to run on natural gas . I'll be stocking up on red beans, yams, and garlic, and promise to pop the gator (and wheelies) all night long....

Morning All!

Cloudy this morning and around 24 degrees. Temps supposed to go up as the day goes on, rain coming in later and tomorrow, then turning to some snow overnight tomorrow. Whatever. I can't keep up anymore, lol.

Well Clay is still off sick, so he won't be going to NY for the sales meeting. I just hope he keeps his sick a$$ home tomorrow! He coughs and sneezes and never covers his mouth or nose... yuck... so the germs go everywhere! I was looking forward to being here by myself. Brian and Steve are leaving around 10 this morning. I gave Steve $20 to get me some NY scratch off tickets!

I guess my nephews daughter was on our Cash Explosion lotto show last night, from what I read on facebook this morning, lol. Didn't say how much she won, so I don't know. Her daughter posted some pics on facebook. Said they won some nice prizes. I'm sure we'll never know how much she got.....

Brian keeps telling everyone he's talking to this morning about that friggin winter storm that's going to hit the right coast... I'm really tired of hearing it already! He has to be sooooo dramatic! " I sure hope we don't run into that Noreaster that's heading in." Over and over...... He brought 2 duffle bags in with him, for heaven's sake. They're only going to be there tonight and tomorrow. He takes more crap than I do, lol! From what I heard, the area of NY they will be in won't be affected. Boston area is supposed to get the brunt. Steve will be driving his Malibu, so they won't be in a 4wd vehicle like they usually are.

I hope you all don't get slammed, Darryl!! I saved Nicole's story books in boxes. Got them up in the attic.

I always liked to listen to Paul Harvey. My mom listened to him. He used to be on some radio stations at noon around here every day.

Nicole liked her first evening of work! She worked with the customers, doing paperwork and such too. Plus restrained animals for the vet. She had to go clear to Canton this morning for her job shadow at a vet's office over there. I hope she left early. Lots of traffic over that way on Rt.8 and the 76/77 split. Lots of accidents every day too....... I don't even go that way for car shows.

Well have a great day all!!

Welp, I'm legal. Went to Gawga Drivers "Services" place, found out I didn't have what I needed, went to de probate court, finally found a parking spot less than 10 miles away, got a cc of my birth certiicate, [$25.00] took dat, my ancient SS card, my Drivers license, a bank statment, and a car registration back to de "Service" place.

Sat on my A$$ for a hour. Went to de winder and de lady did her thing all the while telling me my SS card was so old, I needed a new one. Den she say, "[while holdingon to my D.L., SS car and Berf certificate] "Come back in 10 min."

Seems like if ya have a common name like Smith or Jones, de puter background check takes a while. Next GET THIS, She scans everything. Like WTF has time to ever look thru a billion pieces of scanned crapola.

Naturally my ancient SS card isn't readable after the scan, so she's got to go get her Stuporvison. De stuporvison takes my SS car to anutter copier and fiddle pharts 'round wit til she can read de copy.Den de scan it again.

Good thing it weren't pour'in rain during all dis runn'in round. Oh wait it was.

Sorry ta hear about your trials n tribulations Jim. One of the joys of being served by the younger smarter generation of gubment huh?

5 years is the standard up here for reglar licenses. Certificate licenses hafta go every 2 years unless dey is over 65, den it's EVERY year! An no discount either.

Next time dey ax about de SS card tell em you bought it from dat show "Ancient Aliens' and see what happens.

Allen, My SS car is kinda special and de only one I've ever had. When I was 13 years old, I was bit#ch'in 'bout sum'em to my dear departed dad and he said, 'Ya know, I know what you need, A JOB, ere's a dime, It's de last dime I gonna give ya, I would strongly suggest you use it to ride de bus downtown and get ya self a Socail Secuirty card. "

So I took my dime, road de bus downtown to de old Federal building and de rest is Histoire.

I just had to help renew the Wife's Lisence..
they changed the way renewals work here.
MUST have:
Birth Certificate -
Social Security Card
Proof off address - Utility bill or bank statement with her name on it..

Luckily we have one utility in her name.. as we are paperless with our bank.
her social was easy.
when we dug out her Birth Ceritificate we found the first name was blank.. and of course the Driver lisence Division would not accept it
we had to go to the Health department and get a copy of her birth certificate and get a new copy $18
then over to the DLD wait in line. get a pic.. go to the clerk.. review the Eye test and pay them $25 and get a paper copy of the lisence. and wait 3-6 Weeks to get the actual Lisence.

That sounds totally retarded. Here they take the pic at the registry and you get your license pretty much on the spot. For first time registrants like my son, he had to wait all of 3 days for his learners to arrive in the mail. Apparently they had to 'assimilate' him. Now he knows resistance is futile, specially with the gubment.

You ever go to a gubment office to GET Id, and they tell you they need 2 pieces of picture Id so they can process you?

Makes ya wonder how some folks get a license. Lately some banks and stores here have posted signs prohibiting folks wearing facial concealment into the building. Gee, I wonder why?

Hey good evening everyone.

It rained all day here, stopping around 3. I think that's going to be it for a few days, and that's fine with me.

Yes those are the stories that are in the book my Mom found. Few people I know these days have ever heard of these stories, and even less still have them from when they were kids. I don't get that. If you like something when you're little, why wouldn't you like it when you're older? I still watch the Christmas shows and Speed Racer like I did when I was little. Nothing wrong with it.

My license is due in June, so I will take everything I have with my name on it in a suitcase and camp out there starting June 1, being prepared to be there for the duration.

I gotta vent a little bit here. I found out real quick when I moved here that most people are on crack when it comes to selling cars. Sure there's less rust on them than there is up home, but I found prices, dealers and private, to be about 50% higher. Well, a couple weeks ago this guy not too far from me advertises a 76 Ninety Eight for 1000. Solid car, rust under the vinyl roof, decent interior. Says he needs it out of the way and if it doesn't sell quick he's taking it to the crusher and he'd take 800. If it would have been a week later that car would have been in my driveway. Or in the parking lot at work since I have no room on my driveway. Anyway the ad is on craigslist for a few days then disappears. I think good, someone saved it from the crusher. Today I see an ad for a 76 Ninety Eight for TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Same rust streaks from the vinyl roof, didn't even vacuum the carpet, didn't wash it. Pristine western cars aren't even going for that. Serious crack smoking going on here.

Time for work. The week has gone well so far, I hope tonight does, too. Think I'll take a ride out to Villa Rica tomorrow to check out a tool place, then stop at the Aussie Pie shop in Marietta on the way home. Yep, that's what I'll do.

Hope everyone enjoys their evening and is ready for a great weekend.

Good evening everyone. Quiet day today, at least before the storm. Supposed to get 1 to 2 feet tomorrow with blizzard conditions. Everyone here is worried about losing power again.

Evening peoples,

Mike - yeah I know what you mean. (shrug) What's a guy to do though. LOL sounds like you got some of the same crackheads that sell cars on evilbay living right next to you.

Darrell - Don't worry boudit! 1-2 feet of snow won't be that bad unless it's the heavy wet stuff. Stay home unless you absolutely have to go out.

Scot - dem's words of wisdom you can bank all day long.
