Howdy all.

Jamesbo my Mom lives off Enterprise Drive, not too far from the airport. I don't know if that's East or North or what. I went to the Awful house once when I was there, it was gross. I should have known better. My sister lives about an hour away in Destin.

Scot I looked up the custom checklist for getting my new license. I go through all that next June. It seems they've gone out of their way to make it unnecessarily complicated. As usual.

Hey Tony.

Sandy just what are the debates going to tell us? The guy that ends up looking like a dunce is the loser? I've never watched a debate. My debate today was what to have for lunch. Lucky Charms won out(I slept through breakfast).

Ah work tonight. Still three, I have to work Saturday. I haven't shaved all weekend maybe I'll keep it going and look like Grizzly Adams in a couple weeks.

Beautiful here, guess I'll go do something.

Morning all, been a while hasn't it

I read most of the post, there are alot

I have been really busy working on either the "new" car or at work the last couple weeks. When the old girl turned up and I was able to look at her turned out the guy I bought it off lied through his teeth about the car. I went from expecting a little rust on the front fender to replacing the entire floor minus the tunnel as they were rusted through pretty much. Safe to say I was not a happy camper I was just not able to get to the car and see it before I bought it otherwise I wouldn't have It's bought now so I have to fix it so busy, busy, busy

Scot, sorry to hear about your daughters accident, glad she is ok but not that the other party is trying to blame her

Sandy you sure know how to start a rumour lol. No we are not expecting another bub, one is ample for us

Sounds like you have to jump through hoops every year to keep your cars on the road over there In Queensland you get a roadworthy before you register your car and that is it. No emissions testing ever and you just pay the rego every year after that to keep it on the road. You do have to keep it roadworthy to a point cause the cops can pull you up and defect the car then you have to fix the problems but I never let the car get that bad

I will get on more regularly and keep you informed on the old girls progress, back to it now.

Have a great day Olds pals

Adrian

Hello from work.

My neighbors had a fence put up today, and of all the utility people that came out to mark up the yard, the cable TV people weren't among them. So they augered my buried line and knocked out the TV and the internet. Oh well, I'll call when I get home from work in the morning and they will come out and run me a new line.

So Adrian, glad to hear from you, but what is the old girl? We've been waiting weeks to find out. You need to go pay that man a visit, he'd never suspect you making a long trip, which is probably why he felt he could take you.

Jamesbo how's come you know so much about Pensacola? You must have people or at least go there once in a while.

Well my plane tonight looks fairly light so hope it's a good night. Gotta go to the gate to pick it up. Better git to gittin'. Hope everyone has a good night and is ready for the weekend.

Congrats on the 'Green plane' Mike. Take a load off.

Well, I just watched the debate. And as an undecided, I can say is was helpful.

Good Evening Everyone. Long time no see!

A week and a half into my new contract and I am enjoying it. I like the work and am learning new things. The commute on the other hand...

Anyway, I'll get caught up on the posts and try to get back in the flow.

Mornin', all... rode the Yamaha in today for a change... couldn't resist the nice weather + the "flying solo" (w/ better half at Mom's).... the traffic on I-55 is normally zooming by me as I'm doing 75 in the Camry, so I kept up for a change this morning.... Not that I couldn't do it in the Toyota... in fact, that little 2.4 is amazing --how it propels that sedan; but it isn't necessary, not to mention the negative effect on gas mileage and longevity.

Adrian, I feel your pain. Although it wasn't about rust, the guy I bought my car from (sight unseen, b/c it was in New York) lied at every turn. I wrote up a litany of things, mostly relatively minor, but all things completely glossed over by him. One day I'll post the letters I wrote to the N.Y. BBB, + his miserable responses. They guy is a scheister. Every car he sells is the best one he's ever seen, etc., etc., etc. And he seems to be thriving, unfortunately.

I called him when I took delivery and told him the issues I had with it, and he accused me of simply wanting money back... which I did. So I took it to the BBB, and they were no help. Caveat emptor.

I know every old car has it little things and weirdnesses; but the way he described it to me, it was virtually flawless.... and it certainly wasn't. I probably would have made him an offer on the car had I seen it in person, but I'd have never paid what I did.

Sorry that had to happen to you.

Scot, hope all's coming along with the accident repercussions.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning All.

The missus and I didn't want to get up today. Maybe it was because the house was 58*F. Yuck. Had to fire up the furnace. The kid was carrying on last night how cold it was and it was a balmy 63F then. So then I open the door only to find heavy wet snow falling. The wife left in a huff. She's gonna be a peach today. We weren't supposed to get any snow yet and she has hay outside and uncovered.

Oh well, Its Friday. I'm gonna go look at a little Skid steer tomorrow. I've always wanted one and there is a low hour New Holland on CL. I missed a like new Bobcat the other day and the guy let it go wayyy too cheap(about 1/2 of the going rate). I called him on it and he sounded upset that it was already sold, and the ad was only a day old. I figure I can replace the ATV at the shop for snow removal, and push cars around, move engines and trannys, etc. Also I can use it here at the house when needed.

Paul, Good to hear you're liking with working life. Congrats on the contract.

Adrian, good to hear from you. Sorry about the rust. Most of the rigamarole is for revenue for the gubmint. Doesn't seem to help much, but it sure lines the pockets of some higher ups .

I think I'm gonna have some Gumbo for lunch today. Or maybe some Jambalaya. I'm gonna try the new sandwich shop with the nawlin's flair. I'm having a hard time thinking they are authentic tho, since they offer wraps, and sandwiches, but not one po'boy on the menu. We'll see. Have a great weekend all.

Morning All!

It's partly sunny right now, temps around 62 and they're gonna start falling later on when the rain and cold front comes in. Now they're saying rain in the morning tomorrow then clearing in the afternoon - I don't know about the Pops show....

It's a balmy 77 in here, and Steve has his heater blasting!! The AC kicked on a few minutes ago, thank God. I told Brian that I'll be sure to dress for summer on Monday, as it's gonna be a cold weekend, so they'll have the heat cranked up in here and I'll roast!! I just turned on my fan......

Went to Bellacino's last night. What a gorgeous evening!!! It got cold real quick once the sun went down though! Glad Teepos heater is working. Lots of cars there. I drove around the lot twice before Dave and his friends moved their chairs so I could park in the grass. Next week is the last one.

Someone put a flyer in my car about a show next Sat. the 13th right down the road from home at the Allen Bradley facility on 91. That will be nice, weather permitting! Only like 4 minutes from home. They have a huge parking lot too. It benefits the United Way.

Adrian! Bout time you're back!! Sorry to hear about the car - that sucks. But I'll bet she'll be beautiful.....

Paul.... glad to hear from you. Glad to know you're working and all is well. How's your dad doing??

Clint..... please keep that nasty weather out there, ya hear? That sucks.... it's too early for snow.

Well you all have a great Friday.

Don't mention it.

Clint, pump them for a little info... I'm curious to know exactly where they're from, and whether they ran any eating establishments down Who-Dat way...

Wit' Jamesbo as moderator, seems like we can't get away from the topic of food.... ! (but what a great topic it is )

Which reminds me --> my maternal grandparents were from Raceland, La., and "Granny" (among many, many other incredible dishes) used to make "cabbage rolls," in which she'd take big par-boiled cabbage leaves and stuff them with a ground-meat rice dressing. The final step was to brown them in her big pot and serve 'em up hot and dark... mais cher, talk about good! Could make a grown man cry. I did try to duplicate them once, and they came out pretty good; same for Mom... she did 'em once or twice, and they were real good; but Granny did 'em best...

They actually serve up small versions at a middle-Eastern restaurant we go to, but they taste more like restaurant food, and have a lot of cumin in them, and less onion -- totally different.

She also made a rice dressing for Thanksgiving and Christmas that had oysters and sweet potatos ("Louisiana Yams") that was to die for.... I could go on and on.... wish I'd have gotten that recipe from her...

Here's Dinner

I wish I would of used Lawry's seasoning salt instead of Road Kill seasoning salt , because it has more salt in it , but it was still good . The Porterhouse steaks were only like $5.50 - $6.00 each on sale at Pick-n-save , and we had Brocolli , Sauteed Mushrooms , and Baked Potatoes . mmmmmmmmmmm ....

Oh, and yeah, Jamesbo... I doubt if Lt. Manura will let you batter up dem tribbles....

BTW, me & better half honeymooned on Perdido Key... that was the last time we were there.... very nice, but it was a bit chilly in November and we both caught deaths-of-colds 'cause we sat outside in da' hot tub with the temperature in the 50s... but we managed to survive....

Long day working on the car - I ache all over and dammit! The day I didn't wear my steel toes I dropped the friggin thing on my toes. I don't know why they say that 'smarts' because it was really dumb and hurt like %$&@!

Scot - Happy berfday to your daughter!

John - nope, you'd be wrong. Dem tribbles go good just like de recipe says. For extra flavor use beer batter though.

Bryan - nice steaks and shrooms. I also love brocoli as long as it's not overcooked. Same with the meat. Medium rare is max for me. Don't like em well done, reminds me of shoe leather.

Jamesbo - never tried dem fried green maters. Whutsitlike? Spose I could whomp some up ta find out. Whattaya do? Just slice em up and fry in butter/salt? Sounds tasty...

Have a good evening Olds fiends.

69 442 Vert

Jamesbo, a guy down my way put his '69 442 vert up for sale. need another one?
I've seen it in his carport for a few years.

Honestly, I don't think it's anything special, but I didn't look at it too closely; It sure ain't no trailer or garage queen.

Looks very average from 75'... at least the exterior. I'd have to look at it closely to render a verdict (I didn't stop when I saw it this mornin').

If anybody's in the market, I'll make a stop and grab a pic or two next time I pass.

It's very light in color (cream?) and it has the wide black center stripe on the hood. I assume it's a 400, and I think it's the hardtop. 442 emblems seem legit, but not sure.

Y'all have a great Sunday.... and I'm sure glad I ate befor I read the tomato recipe, else I'd be in the kitchen fryin'....

Evening All!

It was a cold day here today. Started out with a little sun, then had rain this afternoon, then sun again. It was only in the 40's all day. Temps are in the 30's right now. I'm not ready for this....

Pops canceled the show over in Hartville yesterday due to weather. It was cloudy in the morning, then sunny and in the mid 50's. It was a nice day, so I don't know why he didn't have it. Rescheduled to next Saturday. But thats when the one down the road is, so I guess I won't be goin to Hartville. Wish he'd have just had it.

I ended up cleaning yesterday and finished putting the Halloween decorations inside the house. I cleaned all the inches of dust off the ceiling fans from all summer, lol. They were covered!! I had to go to the vets office in the morning first, and get more Revolution flea/tick/earmite/heartworm stuff for the cat. $90 for 6 tubes of the stuff! So he's good for 6 months now. Since the vets office is across the street from Highland Road Auto Body, I stopped in and bullshi* with Bob for awhile and talked Oldsmobile, amongst other things. He has a nice Charger in there that he's gonna replace front frame rails on for a customer. He bought a nice car haulin enclosed aluminum trailer too. We had an enjoyable visit. I was talkin to him about puttin some pinstripes or somethin on Tincanio for me. He said he could do that.... I'd really like to have her painted red.

Today I went up and took Lin shopping. Didn't get home until 8 ish. I stopped at Nicoles while I was in Ravenna and loaded up her chest of drawers that she had no room for, and brought it back home. There's quite a bit of room in Tincanio when I lay the back seats down.

Larry made a pot of chili today. It was a good day for it.

Jamesbo..... I don't like fried green maters. Jean, my oldest sister does. She loves em! I still have lots of green maters. Haven't pulled them up yet. I picked some more orangish colored cherry maters yesterday and put them on the window sill to ripen.

Bryan.... Welcome to the thread! That's just Jamesbo's southern talk, and the others versions of it, lol. You'll get used to it! We talk about all sorts of stuff here, lol. You'll get some good recipes here too. You must watch Swamp People, lol. I love that show. Someday, when I go to 'Nawlins, I'm gonna meet Troy. Him and Liz are my favorites.

Well I reckon I better get off here and start gathering my stuff for work tomorrow. Another weekend gone by too fast. Have a good evening all!

Clean and chili. It's in de 40's fer de first time.

John, Cha got me confused up. Is the 69 442 a drop top er a hard top? Is the a 4 speed er an auto?

Sandy, You remind me of my wife.Ya ax me a question, I answer it, den you ignore my answer. ['bout ripen'in maters]

Mike, Did you see de news article 'bout a fella who took the word "House" a might too serious. He was liv'in on de roof of an Awful House.

Scot, I ain't been to a Fair since de ole day at Lakewood, When de shut down grammar school a half day so we could go out to de Hoochie Coochie shows at de Southeastern Fair.[Maybe dats whar all my problems started?]

Good Mournin all.

Made it thru anutter weekend.

Had to replace the kitchen faucet on Saturday. The water company replaced the main line last week and I think all the water hammer (from the air in the lines) knocked a bunch of rust out of my Galvanized plumbing it plugged up the little check valve tee in the faucet. got a lot of it out, but its plastic and was scarred up real bad it didn't want to work properly. I had great pressure and flow from the little sprayer thingy but it would just trickle out of the faucet.

The Missus took the kid and I to go watch endurocross Saturday night. That was a good time. I'm glad it was them going over that stuff and not me.

We had a Burpday dinner for my Sister yesterday. We went to a veitnamese place. It was good, but I am glad I don't have to eat that stuff all the time.

Bryan, Welcome welcome, welcome. Those steaks look pretty good!

John, I didn't get much info from the restaurant people. They did have 2 Po'boys on the menu. They were big, and the Jambalaya was pretty good, but a little dry. I'm afraid they aren't gonna make it. I hope I'm wrong. Besides serving food they also sell bicycles, and art.

Sandy wut color is tincanio now?

Allan, 15 F or C? I thought about cha while having nachos at the endurocross. They had some really good canned hell ya peenos.

Scot, I been doin sum 'rithmatic, and seeing as how you average one burpday per week I'm gonna say you and the missus have been plenty busy the past few centuries you two must be keeping Betty Crocker in business!

Mike? Did he get locked in the Awful house?

Well, The missus brought home a huge bag of green maters (the little cherry ones) And she made a pie with em yesterday.

Good Morning Everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadians! I know it isn't Thanksgiving down there, but is it a holiday in the US today?

It's a chilly day today, at freezing right now, but should be heading up to about 11C this afternoon.

I'm going to take advantage of this day off and hopefully get some work done on the Cutlass today.

Welcome to the thread Brian.

Sandy, I wish car show season lasted longer up here. The cruise nights are all done, and the only show left is one on Oct. 21, which has to be the latest one ever in the season. Normally, end of September is the end of the season.

Adrian, I know what it's like for a seller to not tell the whole truth. When my Dad bought his '60 Impala, the seller said it was in good shape, drive it anywhere, all good stuff. We were actually thinking of going down and driving it back 1000 miles. In the end we ended up getting it shipped. The day the car was picked up, we get a call from the shipper saying the car won't move under it's own power. Turns out the transmission was shot

Have a great day.

Morning All!

We have frost on the pumpkin this morning. It was 34 when I got up. Heading to the low 50's with sun today. I'm not ready for this cold. Too early....

I was the first one in here today, and I turned up the heat to 70. Of course Steve has his heater blasting, and it's up to 76 back here. I'm about to turn on the fan. Clay is off today, so it's quiet in here.

Clint.... Tincanio is a plain old silver, like everything else around here. She needs some color on her, lol. I have a yellow "Moon Eyes" ball up on her antenna so I can tell her apart from all the other silver SUV's in parking lots.

That mater pie looks interesting.......

Jamesbo..... I'd never ignore you, lol. I know what ya said about ripening the maters.

Something is going on with the mouse to my laptop this morning. I've put a new battery in it, hit the reset button, but it's still like dragging, hesitating like. It's very frustrating. I click and nothing happens. Have to keep clicking and keep dragging. Don't know what's up with it.

Well you all have a good Monday and stay warm!!

Howdy everyone.

Just got my cable put back together this morning. Wow it's quiet around here without TV or the internet. Only took three people to come out to get it right.

So I need to get caught up. Welcome Bryan. Sandy Tincanio would look good in red. Jamesbo the Awful house does have a key, it's paved into the parking lot. Allan how are your toes? Scot I wanted to go to the fair, I forgot all about it. Paul it's Columbus Day here. Clint thanks for being the only one that missed me. John hope your wife gets home from IL okay. Adrian when I bought the Rolls it was weeks before I told anyone what it was. I wish now I didn't know about it!

I think that does it. Missed Awful house yesterday because I worked Saturday night and got home late. I'll be there in the morning. I'm not sure I'd want to live on the roof there.

Okay gotta find some lunch. Hope everyone is well and I'll check in again later.

No problem

Jamesbo - Dat WOULD be confusin', woot'nit? Don't know what I was thinkin'... or as my Dad used to say, "You weren't thinkin'!"
It's a drop top. Don't know whether it's a stick or auto, but if I were a bettin' man, I'd say auto. And take it easy on ol' whitey. Give somebody else a chance.

Gor-joo-ous day in the swamps.... it was 50 this morning, and it's gotten up to about 60 now; supposed to be in mid-70s, w/ no cow-rock combo in sight for at least a week. If I were in Oklahoma, I'd be Gordon McCrae ridin' his horse thru the medder lookin' at the corn as hi as a elephant's eye.

Thanks, Mike. I pick her up at the airport this evenin', hopefully in one piece....

Y'all have a great one.
