Morning All!

Sun is out finally, but it's not supposed to last. The cool front is coming in this afternoon and supposed to rain and drop our temps to the 50's!! Gonna be a cool but sunny weekend it's looking like. Temps in the 60's right now.

Paul... sorry to hear about your co-worker. That's a sad thing. What happened?

Had a good time at Bellacino's last night. Lots of cars as usual. Don Sitts was there. Brought one of his beautiful GTO's. I won a free oil change at Don Sitts. I gave it to my friend Ron with the Cutlass S. I already have one at home, and 4 free oil changes at Klaben..... I'm not gonna use them all.

I didn't like driving Teepo home in the dark! I worry about the friggin deer. But we made it safely.

I'm glad it's Friday. Been a long week. Clay is off next Mon. - Thurs., and Steve is off next Friday. Yipeeeeeee.......

Clint.... hope your daughter does well! I was surprised at how well Nicole did. She didn't have a whole lot of pain, and no bruising at all. I remember I swelled up like a chipmunk, and was black and blue and green for weeks, lol.

Scot.... I might come and hide in the pack too, lol! Probably be some good eatin going on.

Well you all have a great Friday!! I'm downloading pics now.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you all for your thoughts. We don't have many details right now other than probably a medical issue.

Scot and Jamesbo, all of your talk about food is making me want to visit GA.

Sandy, think we are going be getting rain from the same system this afternoon.

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

Positive aspects? If one of the cutlasses break down, the other could tow it.

Our engines are bigger, our transmissions are stronger than most pickups on the road today.

Morning everybody.

Jamesbo I seem to have left out part of the story. My buddy wants to buy the Corvette off me, and I keep telling him to come get it, but he must not want it bad enough because I still have it. He knows all about the paint, and I've been asking him advice on what's wrong with it. Full disclosure.

Scot sounds like a good time. Just think of all the times you've been around the sun.

I'm falling asleep here at the keyboard. So off to bed. It was a long night. Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Friday all,
Shaping up to be a really nice day here.

Jamesbo - Ha ha ha. No.

Clint - Good luck with the dentist. Usually it's only a minor discomfort and drooling till the freezing wears off. What' she having done?

Mike - Wanna buy a used Cutlass?

Scot - good luck with the Spartacus cast!

Can't cross my fingers very well, so I'll cross my eyes when I go out to the garage. Then I can double my fun with the Control Arms.

Allan, Shes having all 4 wisdom teeth removed. I think we've spent $5-6K on her braces that she had removed less than a year ago. The wisdom teeth are already crowding her now straight teeth. So $2200 to have these 4 removed. The bottoms are impacted and laying horizontal. She's got one expensive mouth. I'm hoping she feels good enough to go to work on Monday.

I've been doing a bit of reading through the threads here, and I have got to say about the best ones i have seen are at the top of the page.

Clint - I know exactly what you're going through, or what she's going through. I had the same surgery for impacted wisdom teeth too. When I woke up I had these gauze pad strings hanging out my mouth. The nurse took the gauze out and put some new rolled ones in - told me to bite down and change them at home a couple more times to stem the flow of blood. It worked.

I took the bus home and got a lot of people staring at me. Figured my face was bruised and puffy. When I got home I looked in the mirror and there were blood trails coming down the corners of my mouth. No wonder they were staring....

One of the best things she can have right now? I kid you not - Haagen Daas Ice Cream. It has a very high fat content that will help heal the wound site more quickly than just normal waiting. You're a good Dad to look after her so well!

Hi everyone.

Time for work. I love these short weeks. I don't expect much from tonight, I sort of got in a spat with the lead last week and I've been stuck with him for several days now. Usually he's a great guy and one of the better leads, but lately towards me he's just been shtty. Hey he's the one with the problem. When I get off work in the morning I'll have 106 hours all to myself.

Allan I'm loving your rebuild thread. Sure I'd buy a used Cutlass. How many you got?

And here we go. Hope everyone has a great Friday night and a fun weekend. Scot enjoy the cast of Sparticus. Tell them to check their wrist watches and sneakers at the door.

Hey happy almost afternoon to everyone.

As I suspected, I got the now bad lead last night, and after we finished our plane, he couldn't find enough things for me to do so I couldn't go home early. The others got to go, but not me. I was thinking I'd have to go talk to the foreman, but this sort of thing is best handled outside of the workplace.

Scot have fun with the cast today. Did you say they were staying all weekend? Do they bring their pets? I'll probably be able to smell the tasties all the way up here. The bit about the sneakers wasn't meant to be japanese.

Jamesbo I have posted about the Corvette here before. I'm tempted just to throw a cover over it and forget about it for awhile. Last time I did that the cover didn't come off for six years. I've got another one that is working on that.

Nunya glad to have you along.

Well it was grease job last night and as usual I got as much on me as I did the airplane. So time to hit the showers. Hope everyone has a great day. It's beautiful here.

Mawnin all you weekend warriors!

Nights here are getting cool 43° and days avg about 60-65. Still though it's better than the alternative. Shaping up to be a beautimus day here. That means plenty o shop time.

Mike - only Cutlass I got is, well you know..... sometimes the frustration I feel dealing with 40 year old parts makes me think of selling. Then that dark cloud disappears and all it well again. Glad you're enjoying the thread!

Jamesbo - same ^^^. Not to worry my friend I'm really happy with progress to date. Sometimes wish I had a hoist so I could stand under the car to do all this stuff.

Scot - Have fun at the races. Also kind of curious to know how phase 2 is working out? Or has anything been said/done?

Clint - Y'all coming through Alberta on your next Hay run? If you are, be sure to park on the main street when ya drop in on me. I got no room for a 70 ft 18 wheeler in the cul de sac!

Best be gittin to it! TTYL.

Afternoon all!

Teepo and I are at a show over in Brimfield. Not many cars here at all. I know a lot of the guys were going to the fish fry over at the fairgrounds that Sonny of the Kool Kat Cruisers was putting on. He does it every year. Everyone is supposed to bring their car and a covered dish, and just talk and visit. I'm glad I came here though.

Its sunny and about 64 degrees. I'm warm until the clouds cover the sun, lol. Then I get chilly. I had capris on but changed in to my shorts earlier.

I won a door prize that consists of 2 hats, 2 XL Tshirts, and 2 $10 gift cards to Beef O'Brady's restaurant. Not bad.

Will check in later.

Hi everyone.

What a wasted day. I laid down "just for a little while" and woke up at 4. I did get up once with the dogs, but I was in such a trance I don't think my eyes fully opened. I guess I'll do some laundry or something so I get something done.

Turned out to be overcast this afternoon. Don't know if we're getting any rain but it's sure nice out. I need to get with my neighbor, he's going to help me put up some lights in the back yard. Since it's starting to get dark so much more of the evening I can't see the dogs when I let them out. I think we should change time once a month so it's always light at 9pm.

Allan I know what you mean about being frustrated. When you're finished you will have done an awesome job and ten lifetimes worth of pride for having done it yourself.

I just feel compelled to say that I work my *** off at my job and make a decent wage, and I don't feel bad in the least about how much I make or that my company has a huge payroll. Granted, what I do isn't production, well it is in a sense, but the company can certainly farm out what I do to a contract co. but like anything else you get what you pay for. And for someone to come along(on a different thread that I won't hijack for a rant) and say I shouldn't make what I do and that's the cause of companies sending their work to China, it really burns my hide.

Sandy that's a pretty good door prize. Never heard of Beef O'Brady's, must be a steak place.

You know what's funny, I can smell someone grilling outside so of course I thought of Scot. I knew I could smell his vittles up here!

Gonna go find me something to eat. Sleeping makes me hungry.

Happy Birthday Scot! Hope you have many happy returns of the day.

John if there's one thing etched in stone, it's that nothing is etched in stone. Besides if they booted you they'd have to start all over.

Jamesbo it was some cheddar guy yelping about people who work at Harley Davidson making 32/hour. It sounded to me like he had just found that out and was a little tweaked that he didn't.

Time for Awful house. I'm headed to the junkyard after that, I haven't been there for awhile, but I pass it on my way home from work and I noticed a few new rows.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Thanks for the words o'wisdom, Jim & Mike. You're right. Really, if I got launched, it might be the best thing that could happen to me. But it's tough to just walk away from money this day & age. If I can hang in there another year or two, I might actually be able to see light at the end of the "work" tunnel. I'll be workin' as soon as the Saints game ends. Y'all have a great Sunday.
Happy Birthday, Scot!

Tanks John and Allen

Bad news guys I just got a call and my oldest was in a wreck when she got back into Statesboro this afternoon. A lady ran a red light and t-boned her on the passenger side She is fine (Thank God) except that she's banged up from the airbags and the impact, but the car is totaled. We can always replace the car. So Statesboro blues for me just as quick as I get the kids on the bus in da mawnin.

Evening folks.

Scot glad your daughter is okay. How the hell does someone run a red light? I never figured that out.

Not much to write home about at the junkyard today. That should do me for a few weeks now. When I see a bunch more new rows when I drive past I'll stop back in.

Beautiful day here today. Hung out outside with the dogs and then came in and painted some trim in the bedroom and did some cleaning.

Got some errands to run tomorrow then I don't know what. Hopefully tonight I get a better night's sleep. I went to bed early last night and the dogs got me up no less than 6 times over night. I'll probably hit the sack early tonight as well, I'm beat.

Have a great night everybody, and a great start to your week.

Scot, glad that your daughter is ok. Wore my hat today, took a 340 mile round trip to Milford, Mi. (where the GM proving grounds are located), my buddies nephew and wife live there, he worked for Sealed Power/Perfect Circle/Dana..now Mahle for about 20 years and recently started at Eaton Corp. There is a large car show there every year and it's an excuse to visit. They have exceptional cars there, it's a well to do area, and apparently they can afford to do their restos top notch. We wuz minding our own business, when suddenly in the middle of the show we were drawn into a pub to quaif a couple of drafts and have a sandwich...and there was a game on!... fortunately we were able to escape with only a small monetary contribution to the establishment.

Yawn, Hope ya'll had a great Sunday!

Feeling somewhat better but very very tired. Got more stuff done in prep for taking the diff in tomorrow. Decided to see if I could take out the bushings myself. What a PITA. Took Graeme shopping for new CSA workboots and hard hat. His class is participating in a Habitat project in another week and anyone without the proper PPE will get kicked off the site. Another 180.00 just flew the coop....Kind of strange he would need that stuff, but apparently architects in training also are required to become knowledgeable about job site practices for when they visit their projects.

Mike - nice to have a day with the pups isn't it? Sorry to hear there wasn't much at the bone yard. Up here we can go on-line to some of the bone yards and see what they have for inventory. Works slick.

Scot - I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter. It seems that it's always the innocent ones who bear the brunt of idiots on the street. How did the hitting driver miss the red? EASY - bet she was on the phone, texting, lighting a smoke, having a drink of coffee, putting on make-up or plain off in lala land. That's why we have distracted driving legislation. FAT lot of good it does unless it's enforced though.

John - only 2 more years? It seems like a long way to go but if you keep busy it goes fast. At the end of my career I actually counted down the last 30 days. Part of it dragged but most of it went by so fast it was exhilarating. It's been peaceful since Feb 25, 2011. Haven't been back to see any of them since. Mostly cause I don't want to, and I've got better things to do than dwell on the past.

Clint - hows your daughter? She feeling any better since the operation? Chances are she's going to have some bruising and puffiness for about another week. Be really nice to her so she doesn't tell peeps you're beating her!

Jamesbo - Have fun whackin whitey tomorrow. I hear you're out to set the course record (what ever that is)

27-7 Victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars! Woohoo! Great day for football! Go Texans!

After the game I spent the rest of the day chillaxin with the family. We went to Frank's pizza in downtown Houston for the best pizza in H-town. Now just winding down with a kid in my lap and some Disney channel on the tube

Mike, I brought up the made in China subject but I hope it wasn't my comment that spawned the 'making too much at your job' comments (if it's the thread I'm thinking). I'm in aviation as well and there is a good reason we are paid what we get...we hold people's lives in our hands every day we go to work. I know accountants that make more than me, but on a bad day they have to redo some work. When we have a bad day someone dies. It's no joke. So even though you are a tradesman, the salary you make is well deserved.

I had a commander once that scolded our air traffic controllers...he said "when you f*ck up you fall out of your chair, when the pilot's f*ck up they kill themselves and their crew. And if it's YOU who f*cks them up, I'll have your asses!"

Evening All!

Had a gorgeous day for the Ravenna Balloon Affair show today. It was sunny and got up in the high 70's. Lots of beautiful cars there as usual. Kenny was judging today with 2 other guys. He told me my competition for "Best Stock" was a 1959 Catalina. I went over and looked at it, and it was a gorgeous car. But... it had gauges added under the dash that I know weren't 'stock'. So I found Kenny and told him that, lol. He said he saw that. So I was on track for that award. Until the Impala drop top showed up. It ended up getting the award, but it was very worthy of it. Just a clean, beautiful car. I saw the judges come over and look at it, then came back to Teepo, then back to the Impala..... I knew. But I got a "Top Pick" award, so I was pleased.

Linda hit the 50/50!!!! I thought she was gonna cry, lol! I was sooooo happy she won it. She really needed the money. She got $250.00. Most of it was in $5 dollar bills, lol. We stopped at the bank when I took her home, and I put most of it in the bank. She was just so thrilled.

Nicole and Charlie came by for awhile and ate and walked around. Nicole came over yesterday afternoon and did her laundry and spent the night.

I got a 1st place "Best of Show" trophy at the show yesterday. Not a big 4 foot trophy, just regular size, but I'm soooo proud! That's the first one I have that says best of show, lol. That was their first show, and bless their hearts, they tried. Wish more people would have been there. Besides my winning door prize of shirts, hats, and the gift cards, I also won the raffle for $25 in cash. So we had ourselves a great weekend!! Will download pics tomorrow.

I gave the one guy my phone number so he can call me next year and I can give him an idea of the best time to have their show, since I go to so many of them. They're looking for a day when there aren't so many other shows going on. I said I write them down so I have a pretty good idea of what is when, and I'd be happy to help them out.

Scot.... Happy Birthday!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter! Glad she wasn't hurt. That's a great b'day present! I remember how scared I was when Nicole got T-boned in that Colbalt I had for 9 whole days, lol. That was on the driver's side. Scary.... I hope they cite the heck out of the other driver. People just don't pay attention.

Clint.... How is your daughter doing??

Mike.... Beef O'Brady's is kinda like a sportsbar type place. Kind of like Appleby's or something. We used to have one here in Twinsburg. They have pretty good burgers and stuff.

I'm watching the weather now, and it looks like it's gonna be feeling like fall around here this week. A cold front is headin in and we're supposed to have rain and be colder starting on Tuesday.

Well I better get my laundry out of the dryer and put away, and get stuff ready for work tomorrow. Clay is off next week, so Brian will be whining.

Have a good evening!!

Didn't I say I was going to bed early? Just as I was beginning to wind down it started raining. No thunder, no wind, but the dogs freaked out. It's quit now and they've calmed down. Hopefully that's it for the evening.

No Steve you're okay. We were supposed to have some overhauls go to China, but I don't know if they ever went. We had some work done in Hong Kong and it was so bad they cancelled the contract. Seems the bean counters don't realize we don't save any money when we have to completely redo whatever was done when we get the plane back. You are absolutely right about our responsibility and I think of that every time I sign the logbook. I see the mad poster has amended his post. Hope he isn't hung over.

Sandy sounds like a great day. What was so special about the Impala? You should tape Brian's whining and play it back to him. What ever happened with HR, did they say anything to him about those texts?

I think I'll scurry off to bed before any other weather faux pas finds its way to us.

Mornin all.

Thanks for all the thoughts for the kid. Shes sore, puffy, but hasn't turned black & blue... yet. She went to work this morning. That surprised me. I'm not sure I'd want to be loading trucks with a messed up mouth. She was home about 3 hours after the appointment. Which equals about $700/hour for the procedure

Mike whats the name of that hydraulic oil you guys use something like skyoil? That stuff is nasty. My buddy didn't tell me not to get it on my skin, until after I got it on my skin.

Jamesbo, I agree. Wish we'd take care of ourselves for once.

Congrats on the BOS Sandy! Gonna be cooler here today too. Lows dropping into the 40's and a high around 60 today.

Chief, I never understood the passengers that want to rush either. We had a delay on a Frontier flight once. It was a breakdown of somesort, and the people were just insanely mad and was demanding they get that plane loaded and in the air. I axed one of them if they thought we could just pull over on the nearest cloud and pop the hood if somethin went wrong?

Allan, We wont be headin that far north, at least not this week. They have a boarding stable to stock this week. One semi load each day. Thats a lotta hay! By the way glad you're feelin better.

Scot, Happy belated. Sorry to hear about the wreck. Glad the safety equipment did what it was supposed to. reminds me of the vid of Old vs. new. Engineering sure has com a long way.

John, If you made every deadline, they'd come to expect it. This just keeps them on their toes

Here's hoping everyone has a great Monday and a great week.

Good morning everyone and happy Monday!

Had a good night's sleep, comparatively. Crawled into bed at midnight and the dogs didn't wake me up until 5. I don't have a finished basement, I wonder if I put a load of sand down there and told them it's a huge dog litter box if they'd leave me be. Might need to put in an exhaust fan.

Clint that stuff is Skydrol. Were you hanging out at the airport? Burns something terrible if you get it on you, oh and if it gets in your eyes, forget about it! We used to put milk in our eyes if we got it in there, now we use mineral oil. Either works. Oddly enough that stuff is supposed to be benign. No lasting effects if you get it on you. I've heard there's a factory video where a guy drinks it. Yikes. Hope the kid gets to feeling better pretty soon.

Jamesbo years ago I saw some satirical columnist write, "I don't want to sound unpatriotic, but maybe we should lose a war and let someone else support us for awhile."

Sandy I had a great idea. Take all your trophies to work and build a fort around your table. Then you wouldn't need a desk and it would be soundproof to boot.

Okay! Gotta go pick up my buddy Johnboy and take him, somewhere. He was fairly inaudible when he called this morning, I just got that I had to pick him up at 945. I hope he's more awake when I get there or we'll be driving around in circles.

Have a great day everyone.
