Scot.... Glad to hear round 1 went well! Hang in there and hopefully justice will prevail in round 2!!

John..... No, I haven't tried the Bleche White, but I'll get some tomorrow night. I like the shine on the tires, but not so much that they look wet.

It's a beautiful 83 degrees out here. I laid in my lounge chair at lunch time. Hated to come back in here. Can't wait for Bellacino's tonight!!

Living in the land of the drowned....

Well glad it's nice where you are Sandy! We aren't going out cruising here tonight. HEY!! My puter says it 442 pm!! coincidence or what???

About an 1 1/2 hours ago the weather just changed. The sky turned really dark - no kidding, have a look:

And the wind started blowing really hard:

My wife phoned from work (10 miles west of us) and said there's hail on the way and the clouds in the west looked like they were getting 'funnels'. So I figured I'd best go out and pick some veggies real fast before the hail hit. I only had around 5 minutes to spare so I ran out to the garden and got these:

Then this happened and hasn't stopped. Been a lot of lightning and thunder too! Just gotta know the grass is gonna need cutting sooner than later with all this rain.

So now in the meantime I'm putting together a list of parts I want to buy from Fusick and ILT. Isn't it amazing how fast those number add up???

Evening everyone.

Had a storm blow through here around 6 this evening, out of the blue. Rained buckets then cleared up. I thought we were done then but now it's cloudy and thunder rumbles around every now and then. The Weather Channel assures me the rain is finished for the evening.

Allan that's one mean looking storm. I've never seen an actual funnel cloud or a tornado for that matter, but I have seen rotation in dark clouds like that. Creepy.

Scot I agree that by not showing up the PM is admitting he did something wrong. Wonder what his numbers look like now that you aren't there. Bet they're not as good.

Sandy is at Bellacino's cleaning up big time. I'll have to log in later on at work to see how she did.

Time for work. Day two. Hope everyone has a good night and is looking forward to Friday.

Jamesbo - I got em picked before it started raining. Same with the maters. I took the pic of them in de sink jes before I cleaned de tops. That lil bunch weighed in at about 4 lbs - not bad for a quick pick. En, yes dey are wax beans. Whut's dis rust ya be tokkin bout? None of de beans I picked ever rusted on me. I gots 3 bags of dem now in de fridge crisper staying nice n cold till dey get steamed. I like em steamed wit some fresh butter n salt on top.

Mike - It was a mean storm. Dropped enough hail in places the manholes and drains got blocked and created flooding. If you don't ever see a funnel cloud - that's a good thing.

Allan, De beans don't gets de rust, de vines do. De leaves turn brown an get full of holes.

Dat mess of beans would make a pretty 3 bean salad.

Don't think it would be much of a salad wit only 3 beans in it...jess messin witcha! We make 3 bean salad from time to time an yer right! It's yummy and tootin good

Seein hows I picked dem before de rain der shouldn't get no rust? Not dat it matters. I'se planning to yank dem all out on Sat or Sun anyway. Close enuff to de end of de season. Had some real good bean dishes from de garden dis year. Next on de chompin list is swiss chard and beets! I love beet soup. An I love chard/spinach/most green veggies even brussels sprouts, fiddleheads, and asparagus.

Ya gots ta think of it as the shrimp of vegetables. They're called fiddleheads because of the resemblance to the shape of a fiddle's head (where ya adjust de strings)

It's a variety of fern that's quite tasty and tender

Y'all prolly don't know how good dey are cause ya bin messing wit eatin catfish or sumpin...

Well I'll be, hmmm never heared of them before. Fern relative? How do they taste? Looks like they might be a bit stringy?

Bye the bye I tend to shy away from catfish in general and go for the bass or perch when it comes to "fresh" water fish

Although when I was a wee tike my Grandma made some mean catfish nuggets that I haven't ever been able to replicate as far as that sweet taste. It didn't matter if it was fresh fish or frozen fish in a milk jug, that woman could cook that brick Jamesbo was talking about and you'd ask for more

Well I guess I will go down and ready the coupe for the up coming drag racing event. There are a few things that need attention, but nothing I can't handle. I need to get some flyers made up as well. It's the 7th Annual "Run What You Brung" at the Silver Dollar Raceway Reynolds, GA It's really laid back and you can run as many times as you want, as well as a car show and swap meet. Sept 29th 12 pm track opens. Be there

I read on the interweb them thar fiddlehead gives ya gas

Yall have a great weekend

LOL!!! You guys make me laugh!!!! Great way to start the day! Morning All!

Sunny and cool here this morning, headin for the 80's. You all keep that rain away from here, ok?? I gots shows to be goin to this weekend. I think I'm gonna go to the Ravenna Moose show on Sunday instead of the Olds show.....

Had a great time at Bellacinos last night! Just a beutiful evening. Had my little pizza and walked around and took pics. Didn't win any door prizes or the 50/50 though. Sorry Mike, lol......

Tomorrow is the Hillbilly Hot Rod National Show in Broadview Heights. It's gonna be a lot of fun! I'm really hoping to win that $5000 Don Sitts is giving away, lol. I'm gonna wear my denim skort that has patches of plaid material on it and fringe around the edge, put my hair in pigtails up over my ears on each side and put ribbons around them, lol, and see if I have a shirt I can tie up. That's about as hillbilly-ish as I can get. I'm really looking forward to it!!!

Steve is off today so I can fool around more than I usually do, lol.

Nicole came by here yesterday afternoon and stayed until time for me to leave. She is liking school. Last week they started giving shots to cats. She felt bad cause she hurt the cat a few times. I told her she has to get used to doing it. She's never given anything a shot before... It's all a learning process. They 'practice' on cats from the shelter. She's making excellent grades - so far. It's early yet, lol.

Well you all have a great day!!

Good morning everyone.

Long night last night. We were changing an engine on an MD88 and nothing seemed to be going right. We got the new engine mounted, in 12 hours, so now dayshift will finish it up. Lord I hope it isn't there when I go in tonight.

Sandy I'll send you pictures of a couple of my neighbors, then you can just dress yourself up to look like them. How do you win the 5Gs? Is it best costume or just whoever Don wants to pick?

Might try to make that track event on the 29th, Scot. If I don't get home early, it would be tough to make it down there and hang out all day without any sleep, but we'll see how it goes. Sounds like a good time.

Well I've about had it, so I'm hittin' the sack. Why is it when you're driving home and tired mailboxes are magnets for cars? Catch up with you guys later.

good morning all

Cool in the 60's this morning and the days are getting shorter dark at 8:30 and not light until after 6. Rainbow (Ben) came by on Tuesday and picked up some main bolts and a pair of big valve Ga heads I had laying around. Great more stuff out of the garage. Trying to get more room to work around on the 48.

Went to a rod run last night 30+ guys showed up. Had a good time. Have a great weekend talk to you all later

Mike.... it will be a drawing. They'll sell tickets for that $5000 and the lucky one they pull..... Oh I hope it's mine, lol! I'm not gonna hold my breath. You don't have to dress like a hillbilly - I just thought it would be fun to dress up some. Wish I still had some old 'daisy duke cutoffs'. Those are long gone, lol. I read that last year they had 'out house races' lol. It just sounds like a fun time is gonna be had!

It's such a beautiful day. About 85 degrees and a nice breeze. I went to my lounge chair at lunch. I could just fall asleep in it, laying in the sun. Ahhhhhhh...

Jamesbo.... I got a couple more big red Beefsteak maters! They are a good sandwich mater. I like em. Maybe next year I will plant a couple plants and I'll have enough to can maybe. Jean said it would take like 5 maters to a canning jar. I haven't had 5 ripe at the same time, lol. I wish I could find something to do with all the little cherry maters. I'm eatin em like crazy and bringing them in to Steve and Clay and I still have lots! The little cherry mater plant that grew by my Hydrangea bush is loaded with em too. It kinda grew out sideways from the Hydrangea, lol. Still don't know how it got there....

I've been picking our Concord grapes..... yummmmmmm! We have another kind out there too, light red and very sweet. Can't remember what they're called though.

Posting pics from Bellacino's and Chick Fil A over in Gen. Disc. forum....

Good morning all, little chilly here this morning but it should warm up soon enough.

Clint if I did find a cobra for under six figures that would be a steal

Good to hear round one went well Scot, POS PM doesn't even have the ***** to turn up and justify it. I can't stand people who abuse power like that.

Thanks for the offer Jamesbo but I picked up my driver from a buddies place last week

Well I better get back to work, have a great day oldsfriends

Not much going on here, I actually don't have a car show this weekend, (ok, I could, but I just said no!) I'll do some power washing, then put some water seal on my concrete steps, take a bike ride, and grill up sum wings later.

Morning everyone.
Blustery and cool here today. Just got in from a nice brisk hour and a half walk. So Pat don't worry bout me beating anorexia. I try to keep my cardio good with exercise and proper eats. I hardly eat any chocolate even though it's claimed (by the choco manufacturers no doubt) to be good for you.

Jamesbo - cheater! You used a recipe book??? W'all dats ok I guess. Fer da shef who needs it... Dem biskits and sausage looks plenty yummy but whut in de world are you doin de cookin at 3 in de mawnin? Is de trophy wife keepin ya up nights????

Scot - hope Isaac steers clear of ya!

Steve - even people who beat anorexia are in shape! (round is a shape ya know!) But yeah, I can hear that guys arteries clogging...That's the smile they all wear just before the 'big one'.

Adrian - what season is it down there? A cobra for under 6 figures? Glad someone can afford that.

Hi everyone.

Great sleep this morning. I think I got more sleep that I usually do when I am sleeping all day. Or, should that be "all day."

Beautiful day here. Not too hot, not humid. I sure hope Isaac stays away. We don't get many hurricanes here in Atlanta but we do get lots of rain from them. Of course that might help precious Lake Lanier with its 8 foot deficit. The amount of drought (or not) is measured by the level of Lake Lanier. So it can rain buckets here on the southside but if Lake Lanier is low, the whole state is in drought as far as they know.

Car show today at Summit. It's being put on by the MOPAR club and is for all cars. I don't usually get to go to this for whatever reason, but I'm going today. Donations go towards their Hero fund. They send stuff to overseas military people. Hm I might go twice.

Jamesbo is that a custom kitchen or vintage? Looks nice!

Okay going out to do stuff.

Morning all, weather is just wonderful today, not a cloud in the sky and only 66 deg.

Those sure look good Jamesbo, next time I'm around Atlanta I might have to drop by again

Yeah Allan those classic original cars over here go for stupid figures. Here is a Cobra I found http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...-1978-11899447

We have just hit Spring so it won't be long before it is hot all the time Right around the time someone starts to vent about the snow hehehe

Got a text from Tink yesterday while at work saying the olds wouldn't start so I said I will look when I get home. Turns over fine, plenty of spark, NO FUEL!!!! turns out some POS had stolen all the fuel out of the car overnight, didn't even leave enough so we could drive to the servo and get more. I think it is the new people next door, only moved in last week. We have been here for nearly 4 years without a problem, they move in and within a week the fuel gets stolen, bit suspicious if you ask me So I have let the dogs go into the front yard now as a bit of deterrence. The good thing about the dogs being in the front yard is if it happens again and they bite the person I am free and clear as I don't have any signs saying dangerous dog or the like on my fence so they won't be put down. Good to know the law some times. Sorry my rant over

First night shift tonight, should be ok I hope lol. Well have a good night/day olds peeps,

Adrian

This afternoon was fun! Graeme and I took the bus down to his college because they were having a welcoming party. They call it 'Gear Up!'. So he's texting some friends while we're on the bus and sure enough they met us at the lobby area.

He got a goody bag (like one of those re-usable shopping bags) that was STUFFED with interesting promos - coffee, chips, chocolate bars, skittles etc AND a box of .... ready for this????? Condoms. He was pretty surprised when he found them. "HEY MOOOOMMM! Look what I got from the college!! Do you think they are trying to make me have sex??? That was funny.

Anyway, after that we went to the benefits office and waived his medical / dental benefits because he's covered under my health care plan. Saves me 100.00 / semester. Then we went to the bookstore and spent all that savings. 744.00 later we got out of there. Still had to pay for his locker (72.40) and a software package (105.00) but we'll wait till Aug 30 for the latter. Boy it's a good thing I don't have to pay for a dorm or something for him to study somewhere else. I'd go broke in a hurry.

Adrian - sorry to hear about the bum neighbor! I'd do exactly the same thing. Leave the dogs out all night and have the car snugged right up to the house. Anyone who tries that again deserves to be bit. Can you get a locking gas cap? I'd also think about putting in a motion sensor light that will light up the area when tripped.

66° sounds not bad. We started the day at 51 and now at 7:40 pm it's only 63. I think our summer is going from one extreme to another. In 2 days the forecast is for 85°.

Mike - how'd the show go? How'd the show go? Well, well, you said you might go twice. You said you might go twice. K, I'll stop now....Hope it was good. If you don't want to post the mopar pics on the general thread, post some here??

Dan - hope the grilled wings tasted good!

Howdy everyone.

Adrian that sucks about the car. I guess you'll have to start early running the neighbors out of town. What kind of dogs do you have? Just have them eat them and that will be that.

The show today was very nice. Lots of cars and lots of people. It wasn't just a Mopar show it was for any car, just put on by the Mopar club. Only one Oldsmobile though, a silver 67 442. One of the sorriest things I've about ever seen, someone with a 57 Chevy parked just outside the roped off area, had his trunk and hood open, little story board up, just so he wouldn't have to pay the entry fee. It was for charity for crying out loud! I think the required donation was five bucks! That is pitiful.

Hey Scot do you have any specific knowledge of the 67-72 Chevy pickups, or just about your own? I've got a question about the side marker lights. Your's probably doesn't have them. Mine say 1971 on them, but no bulbs and nowhere is there anyplace in the harness for them. I'm wondering if they're supposed to just be reflectors and not light up. Funny that they'd say 1971 and the truck is a 68.

I went out and glued the fuel bowl into the Corvette again. Funny, when I went to clean up the housing and the area a little the sealer was hard as a rock. I guess the idea is to leave it set for a couple days at least. We'll see.

Awful house tomorrow. Maybe rearrange some things. We'll see what the day brings. Have a good night everybody I'm hitting the sack.

Your right Mike, mine don't have the side markers/reflectors. The LMC online catalog shows them with socket and bulb for the 68 - 72 front and rear. With what Ted said maybe certain models had them http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=163

What a jerk in the '57 huh? Too cheap to foot a donation to a worthy cause, but wants to flaunt his big money ride outside the show. Shame on him.

Adrian that sucks I cannot stand a thief either. Bad thing is that if they do it once and get away with it chances are they will be back. Might be time for some surveillance equipment.
