Good morning everyone.
Cutlass Guy that system looks incredibly cool but my question is how is that any different from having shut offs at the fixture? I wish my main shut off was in the house somewhere, and not out in the front yard. I suppose I could put one in the basement where the waterline comes in. The one in the yard is really for the water company to turn off and lock out my water if I don't pay the bill.
Mike, having the shut offs in one spot is not much different then at each fixture. The best thing about the manifold is you can be in the shower and if someone flushes a toilet the water pressure does not drop and scald you.
You get equal pressure along all lines with the manifold.
I also can shut off both my hose bibs without crawling around in the crawlspace for the shut off like before.
I think I will go with an intelligent design for my next place for pipe runs, but, the question is about use. Anticipating one person in a bathroom is such that one can have one hot feed and one cold feed, as you cannot flush the ******* while in the shower. However, if one has one main hot line, someone in another bathroom, or in the kitchen, could do so, so it would seem to indicate at least multiple runs to zones, if not the fully individual lines seen above.
Where the water heater is relevant to the bathrooms and kitchen also matters. Decisions.
I know why some folks do or do not like a water softener & their reasons aren't all the same. Water here is rather hard. I installed a whole house water heater. IMO, if for no other reason, even when a water softener might not be required to resolve water hardness (in & of itself), soft-water treated water greatly assists in the longevity of water appliance(s) - helping to reduce sediments, corrosion, electrolysis of faucets, handles, sprayers, spouts, dishwasher/clothes washer/water heater components.
Hey guys - Even though I had no big plans for today I stayed busy. Spent most of the morning gathering documents for my taxes. Unfortunately, there's still one document outstanding from our broker, Raymond James. Not surprising, it's always the last one.
Went to my favorite burger joint (Ginnys) to get takeout for me and the pups.. My wife's on a health food kick, and although she's willing, I hate for her to have to cook for just me. I have another Razzleberry pie in the oven for dessert later.
Gabe has another hockey tournament this weekend, this time in town, but not put on by his club. This one is being put on by the same organization that put on the tournament they were in up in Chicago last week. He will have games on Friday, Saturday, and 2 on Sunday. Times and locations (multiple sites involved) are still TBD. I'm rather surprised the schedule is not out yet. I'm planning on going to all 4 of the games.
Lots of activity in here this morning but not a lot of work getting done. I have a new wall guy and new robot guy. The new robot guy is good but not fast, and the new wall guy is my old robot guy.
Norm I don't get it.
Chris you should eat the health food along with your wife, to show support. It's not nice that you're eating burgers and fries and cherry pies and she's eating rabbit food. Although Charlie Pride would approve. That razzleberry does look yummy.
Our water is pretty good but they do put a lot of chlorine in it. I'd like to put a filter where the water enters the house, so all the water is filtered. I'd also like to turn up the pressure a little bit, but I'm afraid all my fixtures would blow up.
Well it's Wednesday, so that means going out for lunch. I may have to rethink that if it's raining at lunchtime. I won't melt, but I have a good spot up front and when I leave and come back I'll have to park way in the back, and I hate getting rained on. I'll have to monitor the weather all morning. If I don't go out then I'm in trouble because I didn't bring lunch from home.
Okay have a great day everyone. It's Tiger's birthday. He's 9.

Mike - To hell with that rabbit food is what I say. I exercise like a maniac so I don't have to eat that crap.
Happy b-day to Tiger, I hope he gets some sort of special treat today. Hope you have a great day too!
Today is wifeys Bday- going over to neighbors for some cards and cake later- she doesn't know it yet. Happy Birthday to Tiger! Cold here, Last night when in bed maybe 4 am, Buddy and I heard a bang and then tinkling. I thought it was a icicle falling off, but in morning went to let Buddy out and saw it was a can of Coke Zero which had exploded. There was a 12 pack of it on landing in the attached garage- the one can exploded , 2 more were all bulged out and the rest looked OK. Yeah it was cold. Can't forget to not leave diet pop out in winter- Beer is OK ...
Thanks Keith. Mom was doing much better last night when I was there. She said she can see better, like that surprises her. I thought, that was the point of the operation.
Happy Birthday Wifey! Today is Abraham Lincoln's birthday. We'd get this day off school.
I saw the picture Norm but I don't get what Awful house has to do with football.
Chris do you run at all or is all your training upper body? I eat what I want and don't exercise. But I am going to the dentist.

Mike - I decided right when I got out of college and was no longer training year round for football that I was not going to become one of those fat, out of shape, ex-jocks. In addition to my weight training, I started distance running, competing in many, many 10K and half-marathon races into my mid-40's. After all the years of sports and the distance running, my knees could no longer take the pounding of running on ashalt/concrete, so I had to find an alternative to keep my legs in shape and burn calories. At first I used a cushioned treadmill for many years, but then Bowflex (owned by Nautilus) came out with their "Max" cardio trainer (pic) that works your legs and your arms, and burns more calories than running alone. It is supposed to combine the motions of running and stairclimbing in one machine. I do a hard 40-minute workout on that machine 4-days a week (Su, Tu, Thur, Sa). In the Summer I may skip one of the weekend days if I have an all day car show or other activity. I can burn 800 calories in a 40-minute workout which is high compared to other forms of cardio workouts. The "Max" machine is extremely well built and I would recommend one to anyone. I am on my 2nd one, the 1st one I had lasted 7-years. The one I have now is going on 7-years and is showing no signs of dying. Probably way more info than you wanted, but hey, you asked? 😉
That's an excellent response Chris, thanks. Two different times in my adult life I lost plenty of weight, then apathy would set in and I'd gain it all back plus. I've been fat my whole life. I saw pictures of my mother when she was in high school, and she was not a string bean. I've always had to work at losing weight and it doesn't help that Mom is a great cook. She says she will cook better food but it's always the same. Of course I never turn it down. Maybe it would help if I had a work out buddy. I know what I have to do, but I'm not organized/focused and just don't do it. And then there's cookies...
That machine looks cool. I should just take the time and walk again. I'd walk 4 miles a day, it did wonders.

Mike - I'm glad you liked the response. I can tell you, I struggle with my weight now too, and the older I get, the harder it gets. Right now I am 8 lbs heavier than I was last summer. At one point this Winter, shortly after New Year's, I was 14 lbs heavier, 179 vs 165! I was very disgusted with myself! I am slowly whittling away at it. It would go faster if I would stay away from the Razzleberry pie (and every other dessert)! I'll get back to where I was, I just need to ratchet up the willpower.
Find something, anything, whether it's walking or whatever that activates as many muscle groups as possible, and gets your heart rate up. Do it now, and make the time to make it part of your daily routine, routine, routine, routine, routine, routine, routine! I think you get it! You'll feel much better about yourself, mentally and physically if you do.
Have you an opportunety to try water exercise in warm water i can recommend this , the body feels much lighter in the water.
Like Chris i can´t walk so much on ashalt any more like i did before. Works better in the woods luckaly but i use knee supports.
Freezing temp in the woods now so it´s perfect to drive the tractors there. I think my weight is about 220 lbs
Very little movement on the F250 diesel tractor other than taking taxi rides back & forth to the service garage spending money & taking time. Having a crown come off & having to have it re-cemented directly in the middle of truck work created another timing challenge. At any rate, without a bunch of detail(s) turns out the inner axle seal(s) where they meet the front differential are leaking which = more time + more money. Can't catch a break. Glad I noticed it when installing new glow plugs because it certainly would have gotten only much worse over time. Not much I can do than "Ridin' the Storm Out"...

Well, that sucks Donkey @#$%! I'm sure the labor for replacing those won't be cheap. I'm surprised the same seals haven't sprung a leak on my 2000. I do have an extremely slow leak from the cover seal on the rear pumpkin. I just check it and put in about a 1/3 of a bottle of new fluid in it every Spring. The leak doesn’t seem to be increasing any from season to season, yet?
Gotcha. Not concerned about finding any differences between our differentials, was just curious. And yes, this will be expensive labor to R&R those seals.
Well, I'm keeping my fingers 🤞 that this latest Winter storm that's going through here today is going to have minimal impact on where we are. It did not start out well with freezing rain around 9am, but it quickly got barely above freezing around 33 or 34 and switched over to just rain, and it has been raining now all day, and what little ice we had is now gone. The other good news is that by the time it drops below freezing again around 7pm, the moisture is supposed to have moved out. Forty to 50-miles north of us it's pretty ugly from what I've been seeing on local news. We got lucky this time!
So, yesterday I worked from home. I knew the weather could be iffy, and I needed to sign for a large, heavy package. Along I went, work on the work laptop, window tracking the fedex vehicle on the home pc. The snow stopped about 10am. I was thinking that I could have gone to work. It began to rain, and, sometime around 2, I thought, that sounds like sleet. About 5, my package went to "we attempted delivery, no one home, see your door tag." This is a false method that package delivery drivers use to improve their metrics, they lie and say they attempted delivery when, in reality, they just quit for the day.
I called fedex and made sure it was coming the next day, and said I'd be home, again, for it, but encouraged them not to lie. I found out slightly later that the roads were slick then, and there was a pileup in front of my subdivision that made the local news aggregator. So, I felt a little less annoyed. This AM, the guy delivered the package from yesterday, and the one for today. Only the first one was signature required. The box was heavily damaged. and the heavy amp barely survived. The second one was better packed and lighter.
John & Everyone else in the mid-West - Looks like you are all going to get beaten up starting in a couple hours throughout the entire night. I have one thing to say - better you than me.
Chris - You get to play w/ the snowblower some more soon?
Norm - No, I don't think so with what I'm seeing. All the moisture from this latest storm is already past us, so we shouldn't get anymore here tonight or tomorrow. There is another high chance of precip on Saturday, but it should all be in the form of rain since the high is supposed to be 45°. After that I don't see any systems with moisture moving thru for at least 7 or 8-days.
