The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
We had the sirens go off around 5pm, Severe Thunderstorm. Lightning, hail, and recorded 60 mph winds. Good news was the hail was only pea size this time, and the worst of it only lasted about 15-minutes. Of course our male dog had his usual meltdown, he's since gotten over it. No tornadoes sighted that I'm aware of. The joys of living in the Midwest.
John, those plugs are amazing- I've never seen some so worn out. 293,000 miles is great! My only car I've bought new was a 2002 Impala. It made 300,000, My wife was embarrased by it towards the end- looked shabby but still ran good- but 300 thou was a goal- after it hit it I sold it. Mike, are you still looking at the old GM thread? I was a gas service man for our utility. That was one of my jobs- responding to gas calls. They were free to the customer. I'll bet your utility is the same. Call them to come check it out- Do it when you are there- we had to respond to a "gas emergency" within 1 hour of the call, 2 PM or 2 AM. Gas water heaters are repairable- you don't nessesarilly have to replace it.
What is the problem with CSST gas line?
Lightning-strikes have a documented history of creating holes in CSST gas lines, allowing the gas to escape and dramatically increasing the risk of gas-fueled fires in the home. Confined gas fumes that are in a closed room or an unoccupied home can lead to an explosion.
I recall last year when this water heater exploded killing five and wiping out three or four adjacent homes. Not sure they ever found the direct issue - could have been a host/consortia of things. The water relief (safety) valve I believe is set to a universal standard of 150 psi (not sure) so you'd expect the tank relief valve should have opened as per its design; but, if the relief valve was faulty a water heater will go off like a rocket at ~300 psi. Anyways, not to stir unwarranted fear in anyone, but these things do happen on occasion.
I have decided my truck is too obnoxious with a test pipe and original muffler. Went by an exhaust shop my buddy recommended, and, of course, the guy left early. His secretary lectured me on old plugs killing cats; I really think it was the mileage in general.
Anyway, he is going to call me back. Don't think I'll get him to do a resonator on the test pipe, but I may get a deal on a muffler that doesn't need one.

Well, my main man [along with his daughter and brother in law] is quitting and buying a biscuit restaurant. I sure hope they sell enough to support 3 people. . Anyone wanta come cut grass and weed eat you re welcome to apply for the position
Good morning everyone.
Chris that's funny. This car is quite the departure from what I'm usually seen in. Took my first ride with the top down yesterday, it was nice to be in a convertible again, it's been awhile.
Jamesbo how long do you think it would take to cut the place with a push mower?
Well the survey says, it's the furnace that's leaking gas. I turned off the inside valve for the furnace, which left both valves(furnace and water heater) off. No gas smell. Before I went to Mom's I started up the water heater again. All night and this morning, no gas smell. It sure was nice to be back in a hot shower this morning. Anyway it has to be leaking inside the machine somewhere because leak check doesn't show a leak anywhere on the outside. There's yellow flex line on it but nowhere lightning could get in to it.
Someone whom the lead deems important is coming to the shop today. He's all worried about things being clean and straightened up. No way we can't hit our number he says. Why, is this guy gonna stay all day and scrutinize us? If I had to guess he'll either be a no-show or no one was coming in the first place.
Okay time to start this circus. Hope everyone has a good Hump Day.

Okay here is the new car. Norm, it isn't that I don't like big pictures, it's that I don't know how to get them to a good size. Hell, I don't select "poster" when I go to put up a picture. Although, I'm lucky if this even works.
Mike -
Somethings rotten in Denmark.
I had a friend who owned a used 1967 124 Sport Coupe he bought in 1969 - it had twin 2-bbl Weber carburetors. Odd story about Weber (the inventor) - he disappeared never to be seen again.
I'm heavy into spring cleaning. Tons of windows & mirrors to clean. It isn't so much the 32 double-hung house windows as it is the storm windows & screens attached to the exterior of each house window. Seems like I've removed several pounds of pollen inside the house - thus far.
Furnace isn't 2 years old...

Greg I am curious to here if you ever experienced any issues with your service calls to any of the utility customers that had gas piping appliances installed were a contractor used this stuff and did not bond it in accordance with the NEC code articles
What is the problem with CSST gas line?

Well I left gas service in 2013. CSST was just getting popular. I did go to a class about how to install it to be "certified" . Bonding of inside gas lines was a new thing at that time. If we were the installer of new gas piping in the house we would have to bond it to the water line IIRC. When we moved a meter out of the basement sometimes we would have to run piping though the house- sometimes big jobs- we were not allowed to use CSST, It would have made things so much easier. Finally around 2012 we were allowed to use CSST, but I don't remember having to bond it if it was just added on to existing gas pipe inside. I think it is great stuff, but as I said I am out of the loop and am not aware of the lightning causing a pin hole in it if not bonded , but I'm sure it is possible. I have seen before where lightning struck a tree- went down in roots and made a pin hole and ignited gas coming out the steel service line that was surrounded by the roots underground! Made the nicest little camp fine looking thing- really wierd. The fire dept was on scene and they knew not to put out the fire, as long as you can see it you know where it is going....

Callaway X-20 8 Iron not in my bag. Played golf at a club day before my surgery. Called them twice yesterday said they'd call back. No one called me back. Called this morning. Pro shop folks are idiots. Ordered a new (used) Callaway X-20 8 Iron off eBay just now. Back to the windows.

Good morning guys,
Clear blue skies, and a little cooler (80'ish) today behind the front, but very breezy with 15 to 20-mph winds.
Got another schedule this morning from my oldest daughter for Ollie's T-ball games. Now I've got Gabe's hockey, his little brother Keegan's T-ball and "learn to play hockey ", and Ollie's T-ball. They're gonna keep Paw Paw running this summer! They're only young once, and I just hope I'm around to enjoy it all!
Dawn has her Post-Op appointment tomorrow, and we're both hoping everything's fine and she's cleared for all activities.
Yard needs mowed again already, will probably do that this afternoon, just wish the wind would calm down a bit. If I'm out in this wind with all the pollen that's out there right now I'll be having a sneezing fit!
Hope ya'll have a great day!

Three or four years ago Par 3 playing ~125 yards, slight rain & wind I hit my 9 Iron. I watched the club leave my hands & sail ~50 yard into middle of the lake to my left, ball landed two feet from the pin. Expensive birdie - eBay to the rescue w/ a new (used) Callaway X-20 9 Iron.
Thanks Norm, I'm sure she's gonna be fine! Right now I'm actually concerned with her plans to participate with my youngest daughter in a 15-kilometer Tough Mudder obstacle course event on the 27th of this month. They did a 10K together last Spring, but my wife has had to curtail most of her training for the last 3-weeks. Could be a long day for both of them because I know my daughter hasn't been training as much as she normally does also.
Great steaks there for sure! Probably one of the top 3 for steaks in StL. Dierdorf's & Hart's (of Dan Dierdorf and Jim Hart NFL Cardinals fame) used to be the premier Steakhouse in StL for many, many years, but closed some years ago. They always had a very accomplished pianist playing in the center of the main dining area which was pretty cool.
Mike, when you said that you bought a Fiat, my mental picture was of a vintage one from 40 years ago. Shares a bit with the Mazda Miata. Nice ride.

Thanks for the reply Greg.
I have some of the product installed to a couple of my appliances, cook top and future ground level laundry dryer. The hard line gas is bonded with the main panel grounding system, but somewhere in the back of my mind I recall a double check with some of the fittings used in the earlier systems. I think I will have the utility gas guys come over and have a look see.
Did you decide on a new color for the rims on the Ford yet?

Good Point Greg. I will talk with the contractor that installed the furnace and ask about fittings. Spring is just starting here too cant wait to get some stuff out of hibernation as well. That is a real cool looking truck, cant really go wrong with leaving as is or what ever you decide.
Hi everyone.
Been a slow morning for me. My robot guy, while he does a good job, I think would be better suited working for Publix. My wall guy is also a good guy, but seems to have an unusually close relationship with his phone. Eh, I'm not paying them.
Day 1 of the new car going to work was a success. Nice to ride home with the top down. I don't think Tiger is a fan. He's in the car only a few minutes but can't get comfortable. Space is rather limited. In fact with Tiger in the car I have to put my lunchbox in the trunk.
Did some mowing at Mom's yesterday. I can't get the pickup to start(some problem with the battery cables) so I had nothing to tow a trailer with. I mowed with an electric mower about 20" wide. Only did a little bit because then dinner was ready. I hope I can continue today.
Thanks for the nice words on the car. It's a little late to be saying this, but I'm not completely sold on it. It drives nice, fun to be in a convertible, should be good on gas, but it's like sitting on the floor. Not the easiest to get in and out of. I can tell you 8 months ago no way would I even be able to.
Breaktime. One more to go then it's the weekend. I'll be spending Saturday up in the north Georgia mountains.
Have a good afternoon everyone.

EDIT: What's up w/ the gas leak?
