I love watching deer. I just don't like them when they're too friendly and up in the yard eating my shrubs and flowers. With the neighborhood pretty much filled up now, we hardly ever have them up in the yard anymore.

Not a bad idea, if ya can stick one without getting caught. I had some recently at my daughter's get together on Christmas Eve. Her husband had 3 tags this past season and filled all three, two does and a buck. For Christmas Eve she cut 2 tenderloins into mini-filets and wrapped each filet with bacon before broiling, absolutely delicious.

As I said in an earlier thread - I no longer own a compound bow so sticking one is not an option; hell, I don't own any bows. Could this be an incentive to buy a crossbow? Nah. I'm not thrilled w/ dressing out a deer by myself at my ripe young age. I should mention these deer are well w/in range of any bow - they're ~30'-35' from my back door maybe ~20' from the man-cave. I know in the herd of young'ns one has a bad leg - modest limp. Those tenderloins sound quite tasty esp. wrapped in bacon.

Wet snow or dry snow?
The shoveling kind, lake effect. They are now calling for 9"-16" depending where you are in Mi. I'm in the 9"-10" area, with 14"-16" in southern lower Mi. The worst is supposed to be tuesday, which is fine by me, as I am taking it off to watch the nat'l championship game Monday night, otherwise it'll be past my bedtime.

Mike,
do you think management will even notice and make changes?

Norm,
mano y mano (or more appropriately mano y Odocoileus virginianus) for the tenderloins. Who’s at the top of the food chain anyway, dammit.

Probably got about 3-inches. Road would be covered if the City had not salted and plowed. Definitely Winter!

This supposed avalanche of rain we were supposed to get is breaking up all around us. It isn't enough to temper the EXTREMELY irritable feelings I have for home owner insurance companies at the moment.

In no particular order, I hate dealing with insurance, police, utilities, lawyers, reporters, the TSA, credit card companies, municipal government, the DMV, the IRS, car dealerships, corporate HR, and internet moderators.

I now need to resolve myself in how to best manage my contempt & hatred for insurance companies. I am so contemptuous of their disgusting slimy loathing existence.

Yep, I struggle with the same contempt! Unfortunately, they're a necessary EVIL for those of us that aren't filthy rich and can't replace our homes if there's a catastrophic disaster. I hate to say it, but they've got us by the *****, and they know it, and use it, the bastards!

What defines a catastrophic disaster? I suspect the complete destruction of my house, buildings and all personal belongings? I often wonder exactly how much of this stuff do I really, really need? I think I could live in a 20'x20'x10' box just fine - just need a corner for my golf clubs.

Hey-zus! (that's mexican for "Jesus!", I have spanish speaking family...) You guys have your own little chat room going here! My name is Dave, so you don't have to look me up to figger it out. It was a really good day here in central Massachusetts. We're expecting a big *** storm, as much as a foot of snow should fall overnight and most of the day tomorrow. Out here that usually means we have moisture coming up the coast and cold weather from your part of the country. Sometimes there's just cold rain and everything ices over. Sometimes it's just cold but no snow. Today was close to 30 degrees and the sun peaked out now and then. It was a perfect day to take down the Christmas lights and prep for incoming weather.
If you've seen my other posts, I just pulled a 394 out of my 1964 Dynamic 88 convertible, but the barn has no doors. I spent part of the day tarping off the opening so it doesn't get snowed on. It took an hour, maybe, but the sun goes down early so I finished in the dark.
Speaking for myself- I love a cold winter day. Today was perfect, I think, or almost so. Better if the sun had come out- a clear, bright, cold winter day, but I'll take what I can get. And snow- it hasn't snowed here in almost 2 years- not real snow. I remember as a kid getting snow all the time. Now I wonder why I even own a snow blower. Its easier to just bust out a shovel mostly. So I'm looking forward to a foot of the white stuff. I already took Monday off work, and I told my son to do his homework cuz we're playing hookie on Monday. We're going to Vermont for the day to ski the fresh powder. Life is too short, and good fresh snow days are becoming scarce.

Charlie- I loved your tribute to your brother- well written, and heartfelt. I lost my older brother in 2006, KIA in Iraq. We used to hike the White Mountains together once or twice a year. Since he's gone I don't get up there so much. It was our thing, so a part of me died with him, I guess.
That's life- it sounds so trite to say it that way. Words fail me on the subject.

I'm hoping for gobs of snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm hoping my teenage son gets out of bed on Monday with me, at 5 AM. We're gonna pack up the truck and shoot for first chair at Mt Snow. He's already been accepted to one of his college choices. I'm sure next winter he'll be at school, and I'll be alone with my misses. She'll probably want to kill me by the holidays.
Sorry- streaming consciousness, dumping thoughts on a page tonight. Hope you all had a good day, and you can string a few of them together.

There are "Like" buttons on other (most) LLC dba Internet Brands sites. This site evidently operates on breadcrumbs.

MIKE usually a surveyor will hammer a piece of rebar in the ground on the corners LOOK on your survey for IPF iron pin found or IPP iron pin placed. YOU may need to borrow a metal detector to find them

Dave - Welcome, thanks for the kind words about my Brother's tribute. No worries, but my name is Chris. I am sorry for your loss of your brother, obviously taken from you and your family way too soon. I hope you and your son get to go and enjoy your skiing trip, life is too short not to take advantage of opportunities like that when you can!

Hi everyone.

Hi Dave and welcome. I'm glad you like snow. I don't. I lived 29 years in Illinois and hated winter more every year. Now I live in Georgia and when it is colder than 60 I don't like it. Well, when I was little I played in the snow.

Done with the Walmart lunacy. I gotta work all five days this week. Who wants to do that. Next week is short because of milk day. I have enough vacation to take Friday off every week until my vacation renews. I think I'll wait and take it all at once and be gone for awhile.

Jamesbo I can see one pin, and I could probably see another one. Two of the "original" markers(from when it was surveyed 10 years ago) are still there where the property goes on the diagonal. Once the place is surveyed again I'm going to cement the markers in so they can't be tampered with. I suppose what a man puts in another man can take out, but I'm not going to make it easy for anybody to mess around.

Pretty afternoon, not too warm. I think I'll go mess with the big Cadillac. Man I don't know what to do with that guy. It's too big to park at work, it's all banged up from the hail storm years ago, it runs okay but heck where am I going to take it? Take the trans out and turn it into yard art maybe.

Okay gotta do something so I think like this was a day off. It isn't, really, when I have to go to bed early for work tomorrow. The rumors are starting again about a second shift, and I'd seriously consider it. Don't know how much Tiger or Mom would like it.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Awaiting arrival of my 5:30PM dinner guests (Odocoileus virginianus). Corn is ravaged in a heart's beat. I think they use the licking block as dessert or if there is no corn.

Worked outdoors most of the day, posted a couple ads in Craigslist a couple days ago. Time for chow.

Dinner looks good Norm. We got a foot of the white stuff. I cleaned the cars and cleared the driveway around noon, had to go back out at 4 and do it again. I got my son the do the shovel work, I just had to work the snow blower. He's got 2 friends blowing off school tomorrow to ski- they're seniors and their college applications are in so a "snow day" won't hurt them. I'm driving- I took the day off too, it's a snow for me tomorrow. Greetings from southern Vermont!

We had a storm front pass through today. It was overcast, drizzly, and low 40s. Perfect weather for shrimp and crab gumbo, and it was deliciously warming.
Gotta cover the garden as we’re gonna get freezing temps and frost overnight, then again most every night this coming week. I sure hope my jalapeños survive!

Shrimp & crab gumbo....Oh hell, Oh hell...man, does that sound delicious. I'll say this....I've grown many varieties of peppers and man can you tell a difference in hotness & flavor based solely on soil conditions. I never grew such hot peppers of any variety until I lived in Oklahoma. Man, those suckers were flaming. Good luck with your jalapeños.

I’ve grown jalapeños, serranos, and habaneros in the same garden plot for many years and it’s always been a crap shoot on the heat. The current jalapeño and serrano plants are producing nuclear level heat. The wife and I share with coworkers and all have commented on the blistering heat.
