I'm more than 500-miles south of you MI guys, and I'd say we're at our peak color right now. I guess that's because we had mid-20's lows a week ago. Right now you can pretty much see a full spectrum of colors from green to yellow to red to brown. The pic is a little blurry because I had the zoom on all the way.
Nice day out, good way to start the week. I think it's going to rain at some point this week. Eh, I'll worry about it then.
I never cared about the changing leaves. All that meant to me was winter was coming and it was going to be cold. And I had to get the snow blower ready. It does brighten things up. Many times as a kid I'd rake up a huge pile of leaves and then jump around in them. Fun.
Leaving at 1 today to take Mom to the doctor. She has to have an EKG and all that to make sure she is fit for surgery. I don't know why they are doing it so soon. Tiger stayed over there last night, so I can go right over there after work.
Okay have a good afternoon everyone. It starts here in 4 minutes.

Mike - Just been there and done that with my wife for her pre-op exam. I hope all goes well with your Mom's tests and they can proceed with her surgery.
Greg, I'm surprised there are any leaves left up there. I was up to the lake this weekend, Saturday was a full trailer load of pine needles, and yesterday was a full load of leaves. Neighbor sent me a pic this morning, and 3 of my maples dropped the rest of their leaves overnight. Doesn't look like I had even done anything! Probably making another trek up this coming weekend, plan is to just mulch what's left. Rather not have to drive the 17-18mpg truck, and just shoot up in the car.
During the five years I resided in Florida (1988-1992) I noticed each fall season Publix grocery store (in particular) sold bags of real fall colored leaves - and, they weren't inexpensive. The bags were about the size of large salad bags you purchase in the produce department. IIRC they sold for ~$3-$4/bag.

So you're saying there's a market for me to sell bags of yellow & red maple leaves, interspersed with brown oak leaves?

*doing math, figuring out logistics...*
🤣
I had your exact same thoughts back then. The one thing about Florida regarding that type of product is it must be certified by the State of Florida Dept' of Agriculture for sale in the State of Florida e.g. mold free, bug free, pest free, etc. You essentially have to be listed on their SAFE list. Probably more hassle than it's worth - IDK.
We still have color here, it just wasn't where I needed it yesterday, but the leaves are falling fast. I had an aunt & uncle that moved to Fla. around '67-'68. My aunt was from New Jersey (heck of an accent), and the one thing she missed, were the fall colors.

Sell them online! Light weight, shipping would be cheap.
Thanks Chris. We just got back everything was fine. Now we can start the countdown clock!
I really miss my Maple trees. When I was a kid my parents wanted me to rake up all the helicopters, which was no easy task. We had Silver Maples, nice trees. Don't see them here in Georgia, though I looked it up once and I read that they would grow here.
Last Summit cruise in tonight. It's nice out so I expect a big turnout. Probably a few people I know will be there.
I don't know what made her think of this, but on the way back from the doctor Mom says to me, maybe a 57 Chevy would be easier to ride in. I thought hm, I wish I was a more proactive thinker. I could probably get mine fixed up and running pretty nice for what I'd pay for that Volkswagen, but I'm afraid it would take longer than two weeks.
Last Wednesday, something happened to a pole across the street. You would think the president lived there. For 3 days I had 15 trucks parked on the street. Sooooooooooooo when I went to the lake, I thought I'd returned I would have TV and internet service. Gong
They fixed everyone across the street and left my wire dangling from the pole
After a few hours trying to convince Patel, That it wasn't my modem

I finally got service restored today
Jim - It may not matter to you, but I'd call your provider letting them know you'll be pro-rata reducing the amount of your next payment by the number of days you went without service. I've done that with Charter multiple times when I went without service for more than a day and they didn't bat an eye. IMHO, you should get what you pay for, and vice versa!
Chris, I'd pay a month's charges to not speak to them again. Life is too short
If you go out front and there's wire dangling. from the pole and their policy is " 1st we have to do a reboot and that take 10 minutes" I could reboot til the cows come home and the wire still isn't going to be connected. AND a reboot
don't take 10 minutes
" I'm so sorry for your problem, give me a few minutes" Patel said that to me at lest 40 X yesterday

Jim - I hear where you're coming from and can't blame ya for feeling that way! Guess I look at it from the perspective of if customers don't hit them up for the only thing they care about, the almighty dollar, what incentive do they have to provide better customer service in the future?
The whole process is automated, Live humans don't exist, I stayed on hold for 30 minutes, after, I finally got a tech scheduled, they called me back every
5 minutes 10 times as if I hadn't been on hold\
Now they are texting me asking how was my experience
I’m one less molar. No pain. I had a small stash of 3 Percocet from some procedure ~3 yrs ago. I just took one and plan to rest peacefully tonight. Golf tournament again tomorrow.

Jim - I thought about not taking one, but an extraction can be modestly painful and best to be one step ahead of the pain so I opted for a restful night. Came in 2nd place in our Seafood Tournament this past weekend.
I decided to change both heating elements on the H2O heater. The elements arrived today. I should have done it last week when I changed the anode but didn’t think about it. I’ll drain it again and install both new elements.
Moving along on a complete house repaint. Basically areas which need complete sanding down to wood, caulk, prime & paint. The last of the higher scaffolding should be done by next week.
Really, really happy no hurricanes thus far this season - knock on wood.
Jim - I can look it up, but I’m pretty certain you actually posted a picture with water pipes in a wall? Should I look it up?
Norm - I know the picture you're thinking of. Pipes in an outside wall adjacent to a porch type area. I looked for awhile but couldn't find it. Not a clue as to how far back it is?
Dude, you need a good night's sleep after surgery. Take the good ***** worry about it tomorrow. I was on hefty percocet after appendectomy for a few days. No addiction.
Ok last year [ or more] ago I had a busted cold water pipe on the side of a rock wall. Also, I had some rock work repaired due to some settling. Sorry i read your post wrong and thought you were referring to sea wall. i don't have one but I thought Mike was going to repair one at his "old House'
If you can find the pic.maybe it would jar my memory. At my age, remembering what I had for breakfast is difficult
last week I had a broken valve spring next week I have a log county boil
Norm - Since we hadn't heard how the 2nd day went, I was afraid to ask ya. Great job on the 2nd place finish and good luck tomorrow!
I don't mind losing to a team where one player captured a Hole-In-One on Hole #9. I played terribly & I'll use my aching toothache as an excuse. The thing about a toothache is it consumes ~99% of your mental faculties. And, we finished in rain w/ 17mph winds in the mid-50°F range. Oh well, thanks for the well wishes.
Today's tournament is at a different golf/country club, but one I've played before. Weather looks promising/favorable in the mid-60°F range during play, high of 75°F today. Tee-time 9:30AM.
Raining throughout the morning. Just got back in the door from taking my wife to her annual physical. Some thunderstorms while we were out, so when we came in the door Monty was in a panting frenzy. Trying to get him settled down right now. Supposed to rain all day, and just hoping more lightning and thunder aren't part of that package.
