Jim - I didn't play a game in six days - that's a very long time. Thanks, Chris.
Had the 2003 F-250 tractor state inspection today & had them recharge the AC system to ensure it had a proper vacuum, oil, some dye & R134, etc. Didn't take any R134 but I'm sure they vacuumed some residual air from the system. Total bill: inspection + recharge = $70.

Hi everyone.

Beautiful day. Busy at work, we finished up around 2. Got lots done at home before I came to Mom's. And the best part? Monday is over for this week.

Jamesbo I texted John but haven't heard back. I think they are still in da hills but I'm not sure. What's traffic like going up to the lake mid/late afternoon from the city?

Not much else happening. Lots of good pictures bouncing around the site. Chris you put up a 70 Cutlass-type convertible in Aegean Aqua with white trim. That is exactly the way I want to paint my convertible. Eh, someday.

Okay Tiger wants his dinner. Hope everyone has a good evening.

I'm not sure why but this year. the spiders have been out in large numbers. Every time I go outside, I seem to be running into spider webs I know this is the time of year they lay eggs but the numbers of them seem to be larger

Is this true in your part of the Orb?

Jim - Expanding on the spider theme. We get a significant number of hurricanes along the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. However, in recent years, beginning w/ hurricane Florence (September 15, 2018) followed by tropical storm Michael the following month (October 11, 2018) then followed by hurricane Dorian nearly one year to date (September 5, 2019) after hurricane Florence made landfall, I have witnessed an absolute ton of weeds which have been nearly impossible to control. Additionally, I've seen an extraordinary increase in the number of insects & reptiles (primarily lizards & turtles). This years increase in insects & reptiles has been significant.

Good morning everyone.

Slow at work today. It's steady but slow. Everyone is worried about the audit we're supposed to have. It's an internal audit, some guy comes around and wastes everyone's time.

I don't get an abundance of spiders but lately I've noticed more Daddy Longlegs than usual. Tiger thinks he wants to eat them. I hope he doesn't.

Jamesbo did you look at that text I sent you? You could totally redo that truck into what you want after buying it and still be below Streetside or Gateway.

So this friend of mine said I could have his Volkswagen, but the catch is I have to go retrieve it. It's in Pennsylvania. Any ideas how to get a car from Allentown to Atlanta inexpensively? There's no driving it, it's been sitting about 12 years. Besides that no way I'd drive a Volkswagen 12 hours home.

Got lots done yesterday after work so I think I'll do a little paperwork this afternoon. It's gonna be nice until Friday, I'll do outside stuff tomorrow.

Lunch isn't too far off. We may fall a little short today. I'm not staying.

Good Tuesday to everyone.

Mike, cheapest thing I can think of is el cheapo budget airline one way, then a one way box truck and auto transport trailer from uhaul or similar.

While I can't imagine that ad has been on carsonline for 11 years, that's the trouble with that website, you don't know how long the ad has been there. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

John I got the airfare figured out, but a Uhaul would be about 1500 bucks. Sure the car is free, that just seems excessive. Once the pickup is back in order I'll probably drive it up there with my trailer. I'd hate to be on the road a whole day, but it would be far less than 1500. Hey anyone up for a road trip?

My robot has been broke for a couple hours. Some sensor is out of whack. Plant maintenance is here beating the hell out of a wheel assembly, trying to get it to work again. Believe me I'm noting the serial number of this wheel so when something fails on it I'll know why.

Two hours to go. Yahoo.

Been chatting w/ a couple friends who reside in Tampa Bay. I have a fair number of friends from Venice/Naples Northward up to & including Indian Pass on the FL West coast. Several are dead ringers for landfall @ Treasure Island, Anclote River, NPR (New Port Richey), Clearwater, St. Pete's Beach and throughout the entire Tampa Bay watershed. I've canoed every single river through the West coast of FL. Bottom line they're all saying (which is quite evident if you follow NOAA-NHC) this is going to be bad. I'd say it's going to be catastrophic. NOAA-NHC is stating if it makes landfall as a major hurricane (Cat 3+) all mobile homes will be completely gone. I have no friends in mobile homes but the area does have a fair number of mobile home communities & there are many, many older structures throughout the area. Most of my friends are now on a mandatory evacuation order as both police & fire department personnel are also leaving the entire area. It's going to be a doozy for sure.

So, when I picked up the filet mignon from the butcher (and bakery), I also bought some beef brats that they make. That was a mistake. They were cherry& jalapeno. Totally bland and dry, not enough fat content perhaps? Brats, in my humble opinion should be pork. Not sure when i will eat the rest of them, maybe unload on my brother.

Dan - I don't believe I've ever eaten a beef brat - not really sure I've ever seen one. There really aren't any old-fashioned local butchers anywhere near me, therefore I haven't found a butcher I can trust. When I do purchase brats &/or Italian sausage I buy only one brand - Johnsonville.

Johnsonville is what I usually buy. First had a brat around 1968 at my cousins place in Oostburg, Wi. My aunt simmered them in beer and onions before grilling. It was probably another ten years before they were available around here.

And, Oostburg is ~5-10 miles from the home of Johnsonville in Sheboygan (dontchanodereh).

Mike - When I had my car hauled the 550--miles from Detroit to St. Louis 3-years ago I had it hauled in a single vehicle enclosed trailer for $850. I could have gotten it trailered on a multi-vehicle, open air unit for $600. Might be worth pricing it, it might be cheaper than you think?

Dan - We usually just buy Johnsonville because you can find them everywhere. St. Louis is a big brat town though and there are several local butchers that are well known for their brats. I always simmer mine in beer before grilling too.

Well, it was a pretty busy day. Started out around 0800 working online and on the phone trying to get bundled home and auto insurance quotes because Geico is jacking my 6-month auto premium sky high (up 38% from last 6-month premium) even though I've had no tickets or accidents. Made some progress, but many companies online Apps suck big time, and either won't allow you to customize your coverages to what you want, or they lock up and you have to start again. Gonna have to get on the phone some more tomorrow and actually talk to some more folks. Another joy was they did get my truck front end work done today and a neighbor friend took me to pick it up, and it was only $880 to be able to take it home. Then the Vet's Office called and told us the results of the culture of Monty's facial infection came back and he was going to need a different antibiotic than the one they initially put him on, so I had to run and get that! And, and, and, he has to go back for a follow-up check in 2-weeks. Someone, please, stop the bleeding!!!

On the bright side, my insurance check for my roof replacement came back endorsed from my Mortgage Company today so I can continue moving forward on that.

Hope ya'll had a great day!

I did the work thing today. We're doing launch of the 2023 Highlander, so the first few went out as the first of the last trial. My stuff picks the engine up, the transaxle up, holds them both on a motorized cart so they can be married, and a hoist to take them off. Oh, and a table to marry the transfer case to the transaxle ahead of that, if you are AWD, and the trays on the conveyor to go to the previously mentioned engine cart. Then the pedestals on the main line are me, and the overhead conveyor hooks as well to go to the suspension line. All that times two, since there's two lines. About the only beefs are they don't like my transaxle pick end effector, and I can't get the powertrain to hang perfectly level due to geometry on the overhead conveyor (it still lands fine.)

Went home and started to pack for this weekend. My van is stored remotely a mile down the road, so I started packing everything for the Newport Hill Climb. I then checked all fluids including tire air, took the cowl off, cranked, warmed up, and observed idle. I had the Ford 302 idling at ~500 at warm idle. This has proven to make the car die at stop signs unless it is perfectly warm and not rainy, so I adjusted idle up one full screw revolution to ~600 rpm based off my Sears Analyzer. Test drives tomorrow. Topped off tank with 5 gallon can.

Speaking of brats, we have a meat market that is run by a fella that retired from a market in Wisconsin, and there was so much demand from the "seasonal residents" aka snowbirds, as well as the transplants from the midwest, that the owners asked the retiree if he would manage a store in AZ and he agreed, much to our benefit. In addition to every type of brat you could imagine, they have a multitude of meats for humans as well as a section for dogs, and even an impressive selection of adult beverages that rivals some liquor stores. And like everey good meat market, they process game.

That's quite a meat market & a ton of brats. I had to look them up and check out their store-front.

Ray - Best of good fortune w/ Ian. You're going to be very, very close to a direct hit Cat 4 (130 mph 1' sustained w/ gusts over 150 mph). Storm surge could be insane. BTW, I've canoed the entire length of the Peace River (three day trip). Good Luck!

Good morning everyone.

We're doing better today than we did yesterday. My robot is (so far) functioning correctly, and everyone seems to be motivated. Probably because the lead isn't here.

Ray best of luck to you. If you bug out are you taking the Chevelle with you? I knew a guy once in the Amphicar club. He lived in California and was always close to a forest fire. One time he had to get out and he said it broke his heart to leave his Amphi and his Jaguar XKE in the garage. Lucky for him his place was spared. Others weren't that lucky. He actually moved to Texas because he was sick of the fires all the time.

Chris I had my Imperial trailered down from Connecticut. What a disaster. I flew up to meet him at the guy's house, the shipper was late and I missed my plane home. Had to get a room and fly out the next morning. After that I could not get ahold of the guy no matter what. Then he wanted to drop the car at 1am. I finally bribed him to wait by saying I'd pay for a room overnight. The whole deal cost me 2K. Sheesh.

Tedd prayers for Ruby. Prayers for all of you. I thought she wasn't going back to your place.

Okay got a couple cards to catch up before break. Hope everyone has a good Hump Day.

Ray - My prayers go out to you for your property/belongings in Florida. I have an Aunt and 3 of her children that live in Cape Coral that are going to get blasted, I'm hoping they've evacuated.

41° F at 0730, with a high of 68° projected for this afternoon, Fall is definitely here! Low to mid-70's and sunny thru the weekend. There is a big car show in Columbia, IL this Saturday, just across the I-255 Bridge that is 20-miles south of St. Louis. Only about a 20-mile drive north from me. Planning on meeting both my buddy with the Vette, and my Mopar buddy there. There will also be a good sized group from our Old's Club there.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ruby came back way too early, she got a doctor to sigh off on her release, big mistake. It will be the whole Maryann this time, hospital stay then transfer to rehab hospital. Things will work out, it's just going to take time, while she is gone I'll try to do some entertaining at my place, kids ,grandkids, great grandkids, girlfriend, and the Old Man, I can smell the BBQ now.. I'm thinking dead cow tri -tips with all the trimmings, hell we might as well use the good silverware and real plates, and I'll get the grandkids to wash dishes...Tedd

Got on the phone this morning and talked thru bundled Auto/Home policies with insurance rep's. Bottom line, the best deal I could get was thru AARP's insurance program, which is underwritten by "The Hartford" insurance company. Only issue is they don't have motorcycle policies, so I'll have to keep those with Geico, or shop around again when that policy is due again. I would recommend checking out the AARP rates if your current provider trys to jack up your rates next time your policy/s come up for renewal.

Norm, I had no idea that Johnsonville brats were in Sheboygan. My cousin, who is one year younger than me lives there with his wife. He was with the Sheboygan County Sheriffs dept. for many years, I assume that he is retired now. Sheboygan is where my cousin, my brother, and I saw Blazing Saddles for the first time. What a hoot! A few years back I ordered brats from a place in Sheboygan, regular and apple enhanced, gave some to one of my good friends and my brother. Very good. Kenneth, looks like you won't have to worry about running out of brats. Tedd, I think that you deserve the break with your family. Chris, when I got tired of State Farm jacking my rates up, I went to an independent agent, and let him go on the computer to find me the best rates. Saved me a lot of money.
