Decided to move the fuel filter. I put some carpenter chalk on top of the line to see if the shovel is still hitting it. All is good

Aloha

Went to bed about 430 yesterday afternoon. Got up a couple times with Tiger, but other than that stayed in bed until 4 when I got up for work. I could have slept more than that even. We had a rather large thunderstorm overnight. I can usually sleep through that but Tiger was afraid and jumped up on the bed and stuck close to me. Storms don't usually bother him but he was freaked out last night.

Kenneth the coyote had to get in the back yard somehow, I guess he jumped in. There's a lot of woods been taken out for building houses around me. I foresee trouble.

Work has been okay so far. But it was the same thing this morning, I couldn't keep my eyes open until I went and got a Coke. And after all that sleep. The wheels aren't coming real fast, someone said we don't have enough wheels for 175. I don't care. I'll sign what we got, then go home.

Peace

Mike - This will sound like a dumb question most likely but when I was in the USAF we had a wheel & tire shop (and, a wheel & tire shop located on every USAF base). It was (obviously) a large area located in one area of a hangar & it was more or less divided into several areas - I don't know what each area was dedicated to, but it appeared the wheels were separate from the tires (and, other stuff).

Question: When you explain you signed off X number of wheels, you're short X number of wheels, etc. - are you referring to "finished" wheels which also contain the tires & are ready for installation on an aircraft?

Norm that's exactly what I mean. Not a dumb question. I sign off the finished and airworthy wheel assembly. The unserviceable wheel assembly comes in, is broken down, the tire goes back to the vendor, the rest of it gets cleaned and reworked as needed, a "new" tire is installed between the wheel halves, torqued, aired up and then the final step is I inspect it and sign it off as good to go.

The tires aren't always new. Most of the tires are retreads, and the tire body can be retreaded as long as it's still in good shape. Some planes have a restriction as to how many retreads can be done, but most do not. The number of times it's been retreaded is stamped where the new tread attaches to the sidewall.

Now, when maintenance changes a tire and writes it up in the log book, he has to write, for instance, changed right nose wheel assembly. Because, if you just say, changed tire, the brilliant FAA will think you took the halves apart, changed the tire itself and put it all back together while still on the plane. Which is dumb.

Mike - OK, thanks. I can relate to the correct use of terminology as it pertains to an aircraft in particular w/ regard to your example of a right nose wheel assembly versus a tire. The same nomenclature requirements exist in the USAF regarding maintenance - most likely even more stringent than commercial (FAA) civil aviation maintenance. I'm always impressed with how well all of our (U.S.A.) commercial civil aviation aircraft are maintained.

I spoke too soon regarding the Husky brush trimmer. It’s on the fritz again - same symptoms/issues. This time I removed the carburetor, seals, diaphragm, screen & needles. Sprayed down with carb cleaner, nothing looked peculiar. Back to reassembly.

Norm, you can buy most of those small engine carbs on Amazon for very little. Usually less than 20 bucks.

Hi Glenn - I recognize what you've said. I know the carburetor number, I've looked it up previously ~$25.00. I'm a tad OCD, I want to ensure it's the carburetor. All back together, let's see if I can fine-tune the H, the L and the T screws.

Mike If nothing else as for peace of mind, it may be worth a look at this technique for deterring any coyote pack.

Wow pretty good idea Keith. I'll read up on bear spray to find out how to neutralize it in case it gets on me or Tiger. That would make me feel better.

One more to go. Man this week has been slow. I should have gotten into bed three hours ago. Eh, I have learned that an ice cold Co-Cola is the magic elixir to becoming awake.

Aloha

Ah the week is finally done. Now the weekend will fly past and I'll be mad on Monday. Short week next week so maybe I'll catch a break.

Finished by lunch and went to the Awful house. Saw my Friday buddies and had a good time. Went to Mom's and sorted through a bunch of boxes. Still didn't get any of them unloaded, but I'm over it. If the dumpster goes back half empty so be it. We ain't gettin' another one.

Today at work I was actually bright-eyed and awake. Still got a Coke but felt much better. I put Vicks Vaporub on my chest last night before bed. That stuff is magic. Still have a cough so I'll do it again tonight. When I was little my Mom had a glass vaporizer that she put water in and Vicks next to the outlet. The whole room was filled with Vicks vapor and we were cured by the morning.

So the plan for tomorrow is to get out the pickup and take a bunch of stuff from here to over there for the dumpster. I'm debating whether to take the fiberglass racecar parts. He has had plenty of time to get them, he knows they are here, and I certainly don't intent on keeping them forever. However, I know they are worth something and he owns them along with another person. We'll see how it goes.

I texted the Impala guy on Tuesday and he never got back to me. I called and left a message tonight and he hasn't gotten back to me. I'm over it. He apparently doesn't want to sell if he listed it way back in October and he still has it. I'll keep my money I don't care.

Time for bed. Get to sleep in a little tomorrow then head to Awful house. Tiger will get to hang out with Mom while I'm going back and forth. Supposed to be nice but cool. That's fine.

Peace

Aloha today.

It was cold as hell when I went out this morning, and after the Awful house I went over to the line room at the airport(the airport being the one I live on) and when we were all leaving it started sleeting. It wasn't supposed to rain today. Now I'm suddenly not in a hurry to do anything. Eh, when am I ever in a hurry? Inside stuff for now.

More Vicks last night and I feel pretty good this morning. Man that stuff is gross though. I wear a fur coat and putting that stuff on just makes a matted mess. But it helps so I do it.

Guess I'll find something to do until it quits raining. Probably go help Mom unpack boxes.

Peace

I place several tablespoons of Vicks Vapor Rub into two cups water on the stove, bring up the heat until the vapor begins to waft into air. You don’t need to but I might place a small towel over my head and inhale the steam numerous times. Does a great job of clearing your passageways.

Maybe you can jam a 1/2 teaspoon right up each nostril, Mike.

It's hard for me to remember what cold weather was.

Hey look, the temperature's gonna drop 20 degrees by Tuesday.

Well it stopped raining just as I was getting to Mom's and the sun was out off and on all afternoon. So I got a few things brought over for the dumpster and a few things brought to the house. We actually got a lot done today. Tomorrow will be more of the same, with grocery shopping thrown in for good measure.

Don't worry Kenneth, it will be right back up there in no time. This windy and cold just won't let go around here. Let's combine our weather and then average it out.

Time to hit the sack. Tiger is well ahead of me...

Beautiful out but chilly. I've heard 70s tomorrow and 80s this week with rain, but nothing for today. Well, up to the minute weather says it's sunny and cool for this minute.

I hope we get things straightened out at Mom's soon because there's lots of things I'm letting slide while I help her. Eh, it's always something. If I fixed all this stuff there'd be more right behind it.

Okay Walmart then more dumpster stuffing. Then work tomorrow, short week.

Peace

I saw Norm at the Masters. Tiger Woods was his caddy.

Jamesbo any bites on the wagon?

Didn't get a lot done this afternoon. Shopping really wiped me out so I took a bit of a nap. Didn't take stuff to the dumpster, because I had to move the car to get the truck in the back and I couldn't find the key. I must admit I didn't look as hard as I could have. We did get a couple more boxes unpacked in the house this afternoon.

Short week coming up. I'm going to try to get to bed early. Tiger has not been feeling well and I'm sure he'll want to go out a couple times overnight. Gotta get in as much sleep as I can. Some day I'll have that potty room figured out...
