Dan - Great pics, thanks for sharing! Looks like a really good time. I've seen one of those 1st gen Barracuda's with a 440 in it like the light yellow one you posted a pic of. The one I saw at a show looked exactly like the one you posted. I think they're supposed to be pretty rare.

Mike, yes, you are correct it is a manual transmission. I had figured the step counts were caused by the bounciness from the lifted, stiff suspension and hadn't really thought about the leg movements needed for working the clutch.

Thanks, Chris. The yellow Barracuda belongs to the Ver Hage family, they have had a Chrysler dealership in Holland for years. They have a collection of Mopars housed in a small private museum around the Holland area. From what I hear, they allow small car clubs/groups to tour it on occasion.

Oatmeal, pecan, craisin (dehydrated cranberries) cookies. One of my all time favorites that my wife makes, along with her chocolate chips. IMO, much better than oatmeal raisin.

Well, I've been thinking about a new tractor shed [for new tractor and other "stuff] I've spoken with 2 builder and 3 metal building companies. I think we have a few snags. The builders are telling me, it could take a year to get a permit. The metal building people are telling me 'I don't need one for a metal building. So, I spoke to the city. Yes, I need a metal building permit, and a separate permit for the slab AND it has to match the siding on the house. Years ago, I got tired of painting barns and covered them with white metal [before we were a city]

My theory has always been It's better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

But I sure as hell don't want the city { in it's infinite wisdom to issue a "Stop work order" and me have a pile of lumber [or metal laying around for a year

I re roofed 2 buildings up in the mountains with standing seam metal roofing as saved a pile of tin.

I'm seriously considering expanding the existing tractor shed [about 10: long and 30 " wide] to get a little more room.

Your basic pole barn wing added [extended] and later wrap it in metal siding.

When the grass stops growing I "MAY' get started

Please don't tell the city

Since 1976, I have never permitted anything and I'd hate to start now

Permits are just a fricking racket for counties, cities, and municipalities to track home improvements so they can in turn increase your valuation and subsequently your taxes! The greedy bastards! Had to get one a couple of years ago just to rebuild my deck, even though it was the same exact size as the old one, and sure as $hit they've raised my valuation!

Hi everyone.

I finally got my wish. We slept in until after 9. It's raining so I knew it would be a lazy day. I hope my plan of staying home from work to get out of inspection is going to work.

Got up and had breakfast, did some reading(really, it was a picture book), and then went back to bed. Tiger's tummy was upset this morning so we laid low. He's doing a little better now, he just had to go out and eat some grass.

Every few years the county sends a crew around to snoop on people's property to see if there's been any improvement. A couple people went to my neighbor's house when he wasn't home and was up on the porch looking in the windows. My neighbor came home and told them to get the hell out of there before he starts shooting. They said, you can't shoot us we're county officials. He said, I'll shoot anyone looking in my windows. They scurried out like the cockroaches that they are. I know I'm paying taxes on some pavement that belongs to the county, I just can't prove it. Yet.

Jamesbo you don't need a permit for anything that isn't permanent. So build whatever you want and put some wheels on it. Norm is still boggled by the boat lift.

Well I hate to do it but I've got some stuff to take to the house and a couple errands to run. I should stay home with Tiger. I should go back to bed. I'll figure something out. Hm, it is lunchtime.

Okay have a good day everyone.

James - Regarding your question three months ago if I pulled a permit on the fence/wall I said I’d have to get back with you on it.

I did not pull a permit.

The entire permit requirements situation is just replete with B.S. and nonsensical annoyances - for the most part. Yet, I fully support permit requirements when written properly for the safety of homeowners.

Agree

I've often wondered why residential buildings don't require electric conduit but retail ( that no one ever sleeps in) does

Up North many (most) residences require indoor electrical conduit. The reason: Squirrels (in particular), but also Raccoons (as well) are well known to chew their way into the roof eaves and take residence in roofs over the winter months. They get hungry & start eating/chewing through the electric wiring protective coatings, the wire shorts out and a fire develops. It wasn't always required to have electrical conduit in residences (some areas may still not have the requirement) but most today do have a electrical conduit requirement - for a residence. NC doesn't have this requirement and I notice all the squirrels and raccoons I've witnessed nest in trees over the winter months.

Many municipality are using helicopters to survey land owners for taxes and permits. You may have to invest in army camouflage.

I see that the 928 used in the film "Risky Business" sold for $1.9 million at auction. One of three used in the movie, but it was the main car used, and not the one that went into the drink. Chris, no one bakes just 6 cookies, might I inquire as to where the rest of them went?

Dan - I saw that. And, that’s outrageous. I actually like a 911 over a 928.

Dan - As you eluded to, I had already stolen 3 of the 1st batch off the cooling rack while they were still warm. I think she ended up making a total of about 2 & 1/2 dozen.

Good morning guys, I think?
Maggie got me up much earlier than I had intended, around 0445 and had to go out. It had been storming, but right now we are in between rain events, although it's supposed to start raining again soon and keep raining through about 1100. With the thunder, as usual, Monty was not doing well, so I got him to come out to the living room with us. Trying to keep them away from my wife so she can get some decent rest after her oral surgery.

My wife had her oral surgery yesterday morning and had the bases for 3 implants inserted. She was put completely under for about 2-hours, and was pretty much a mess the rest of the day and evening. I'm sure the pain and soreness will be worse today. They told her the swelling and soreness would not peak until Wednesday. She can only have liquids and extremely soft foods through the rest of the week. I think it's gonna be a long week!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone.

Well my scheme almost worked. I took yesterday off for the sole purpose of the next two guys starting with inspection and I wouldn't be there for anyone to get the idea that I should make up my week, which was last week. Got to work, worked all day, no one said a word. The next two guys were back there. Got a text from the lead around 4 saying the one guy was going to be gone the rest of the week and I needed to fill in. Damn it! The guy that took off is a slick boy and makes up problems so he can take off. He's one of those whose grandmother dies repeatedly. So three days in inspection. I'm going to see if I can bully the lead into giving me my time back for Monday. Probably not.

I didn't get the Pete Rose thing either, although I didn't see that those were the next two storms until afterward. I was thinking that he was imitating a hurricane by flying through the air. Aren't you the clever one Koda.

Sun was out a little bit this afternoon but we've had showers all around all day. It's quite a bit cooler than it has been, and oh look, it's the first day of Fall.

Getting tires for the Saturn tomorrow, so I went to get it at the shop. I took the Mercedes over and put it in the garage. Maybe it will dry out a little.

Time to relax a little then hit the sack. I might as well go in for overtime, I could use the extra money, and we won't be doing anything anyway. Hope everyone has a good evening.

That's still way to damn hot! Believe it or not, we have projected lows of 45 and 46 for Thursday and Friday morning. Now that's way too damn low for this time of year here.

James - Thanks for your concern, in my opinion you can never be too careful on a motorcycle. I worry about the folks behind the wheel that don't share my concern about being cognizant of folks on bikes.

Good safety share James.

I will share one that relates.

I heard this somewhere and will pass it along if saves heart ache for one family that can be our bonus. When a lot of us were young we played a game called "Slug Bug" when our family traveled it was a way to pass the time... you see a Volkswagan Bug you slug your brother or sister in the arm, now I always notice Volkswagans.

The idea is with young ones traveling now, ask them to count Motorcycles. The game can be fun and will also teach them at a young age to be on the lookout for our two wheeled travelers.

From someone who rides, alot, that is a very caring and thoughtful idea to teach children to be on the lookout for motorcyclists! Thank you!

Apologies on the humor of the Pete Rose, mine is an acquired taste, somewhere between wet socks and burnt venison.

I have been tempted, as I age, and give less of a damn about most things, to acquire some old Harley, learn to ride it well, then build another one as some ridiculous chopper.

John - Certainly no apology necessary with the Pete Rose humor, I thought it was great!

If you're seriously thinking of starting to ride, take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Course before buying a bike, especially if you've never ridden, or haven't in many years, it is the best investment you can make in your safety. As much as I'm loving my new classic car hobby, there is nothing that relaxes me more than a ride out through the scenic countryside. It will be hard for me to give up riding at some point in the future, it is one of my greatest pleasures.

We played the same game but called it “Punch Buggy”. I suppose that derived from a lot of VW Bugs in our geographic location being converted into Dune Buggies.

About 6 years ago, I was seriously considering buying a bike, something in the HondaCB 350-750cc range. This caused me to really start paying attention to the traffic in my area, and it wasn't long before I changed my mind. Too many bad drivers out there, no thanks. I thought to myself, "Why am I working so hard to save all this money into my 401k so that I can retire comfortably, only to put all of that at risk of serious injury on a motorcycle?" I might be careful, but the risk analysis / financially conservative side of me won out. Maybe I'll have a small bike to bomb down the country roads post-retirement, but where I live now, no way.

Also, I'm sick of the rain already. All my fault, as I deep-cleaned the Enclave Sunday in preparation to wax it and restore the headlight lenses. Guess I'll have to re-wash it again this weekend, once the friggin' rain is done. Selling off 3 of my current vehicles so that I can buy my Dad's Sierra from my Mom.

Jeff - I can't fault your analysis one bit. There certainly is alot of physical risk, and like Norm already has, I'm starting to question how much longer I want to incur that risk. Some of my grandchildren are getting to the age where they are involved in sports and activities, and I can see myself getting busier attending their events. Plus, I am certainly enjoying my car hobby and will probably join the local Old's Club in the not too distant future, and I would like to start playing some golf again. Only so much time, if you know what I mean!

Hi everyone.

Big surprise my lead wasn't at work. Word is he won't be there the rest of the weak. Also the POS I was replacing today is faking an injury and I hope work calls him on it. I should say the guy who was working with him thinks he's faking a work injury and I wasn't there, but I will say I hate when stupid people get away with ****.

Just beautiful out this afternoon. No rain for a week. Lots cooler.

Got my new tires. The car rides nicer now. At first I was mad at the place that put the other tires on, because they were such crappy tires, but then I figured they were doing my Mom a favor by not choosing expensive tires. Mom would never realize good tires because she never drives over 35. These tires cost twice as much, but they should also last twice as long and ride twice as nice.

When I had my bike Atlanta traffic sucked. I can only imagine it's gotten worse. It wasn't a stretch to give up riding. I hadn't ridden all that long anyway and I liked a convertible better. If it started raining with the top down I could put the top up. But if it started raining out on the bike, rain hurt. What a great idea counting bikes on the road.

I just saw over-priced Matchbox type cars in the store called Punch Buggy's. A beach Bus and a couple different Bugs. Didn't buy any, and didn't punch any of the store patrons.

Gonna hit the sack early. Being tired when I wake up early, and being tired all day is no fun. Kinda feels funny, like I didn't actually work yesterday, and this was my first day back. Don't know where that's coming from. I need to plan a good weekend.

Okay hope everyone has a good Hump Night.

I do not have a bike at the moment, however before the covid and over inflation of recreation vehicles I was dreaming of this bucket list item.

Have been eye balling the KTM and BMW's with Suzuki and Yamaha coming in close 3rd and 4th. 600 to 900cc range.

My thought will be to travel lettered roads (County) vs numbered and take my time. Always have had bikes since a young'n they do get in the blood.
