Yup that’s the Monte there. Well it looks like someone sold my brother a bad motor. It turns about 30degrees either way then jams solid. I’m looking for a borescope I have somewhere
I think my average drive is ~20 yards further than the average drive of the average amateur golfer. Average amateur golfer is ~215 yards, I'm ~235 yards. On good days with a tailwind I've approached ~286 yards as my best yardage. On typical tailwind days I can get ~250 yards. I will say I think my average drive is increasing believe it or not. I've been working on gaining more distance this year and it "appears" to be paying off. I am certainly getting far more loft than in previous years.
Slant flat and Greg …….Thanks. I went from a two car garage and two covered parking spots. To two 40x50 shops and a two car garage
our old shop burned at some point and now the roof leaks. I hope it’s the neoprene washers that melted
the old shop doesn’t have heat or electric currently
I broke that 5.3 down this morning and we did get it freed up I don’t know if it was the atf that did it or what. But it rotates again
since it’s open we’re putting an oil pump and timing set in it
I need a parts washer so badly. I don’t know what it is about the ls that makes it coke the oil up so much… maybe it’s that we usually end up with high mileage stuff
my brother is grabbing parts today. Maybe tomorrow we can get it together-timed and installed.
Last year my 84 y.o golf partner wanted to move up to the seniors. So I did, it changes the game [at my course] alot by taking alot of trouble out of play. He's been ill so I've moved back one [sometimes 2] tees
Since I never bet on anything that doesn't have a tail, It's like playing 3 different courses. I guess I'm on the cusp of being an old phart
Unfortunately, You may now have to give me 15 strokes
James - Yeah, well I doubt I'll be interested in evaluating the bumper tow hook differences tomorrow. I am interested in examining the correct paint for you though; so, I want to make sure it's of the correct color I guess. And, honestly, which color is the color which is supposed to be on this M38A1 - do you know or have a preference? I mean, is it supposed to be a Marine Corp Kaiser or an Army Kaiser; or, either color is fine as long as it's a military OD color and not some GEICO lime green?
Norm, I text the guy because the pics looked funny. He said it was painted 24081 [Army O.D.} That's what I want and he said that is what it is. As you know, pics lighting can make for odd looking colors
Soooooooooooooooo top pic is what it should look like in person.
James - Fantastic. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going to read a little more, but doesn't this Kaiser have a 3-speed (forward) with a 2-speed rear locking differential? I'm not sure, I think I read that somewhere. The other thing I am not sure of is it a 4-wheel drive with manual front wheel locking hubs or is it a 2-wheel drive buggie?
I read this on one of the sites, also. I think there were VERY, VERY, VERY few ever made. But, SOME included a dedicated PTO (for the neutral position of the Dana 18). Don't even tell me this thing has a separate dedicated PTO does it? I highly doubt it, right.
Norm good luck tomorrow. Don't know much about coloring except if the Navy had any they'd be grey. It will be 4 wheel drive, probably with manual hubs. You'll know more than me after you read a little.
Got one wall finished and two walls first coat this afternoon. Finished up one gallon. This is the third room I've painted seafoam green and I'm really getting tired of it.
Decided to do the grocery shopping this evening rather than tomorrow. That gives me more time to paint. I'm going to have to break down my bed to get the last wall done, since I can't move it when it's full. That means I get to sleep on the awful 25 year old mattress on the floor for a week. Once I get the bedroom all painted I'll turn my sights on cleaning.
Okay the clocks are set already and I'm gonna hit the sack. It will be weeks before I get clocks in all the cars changed. Eh, it's amusing. And now, poppies.
Mike - I almost forgot about setting the clocks forward until you brought it up - thanks.
I "think" the 4-wheel drive is engaged inside the cab above the transmission housing on the floor board with either one or two engagement levers. I'm getting tired, I'll figure it out tomorrow. Lots of work for you getting the place ready for your Mom - good for you Mike.

--Hi Guys, well this week will be the wife's kidney transplant- Friday. We are both quite anxious about it- her especially, of course. Surgeon sez that the body's immune system tries to immediately destroy anything that doesn't belong. That is what her body will attempt to do, kill the transplanted kidney. there are 6 " matches" they look at, if you have 6 matches that is the best, if you have 4 or 5 maybe ok, 3 or less prolly not a match- something like that. But even a match of 6 the body will still destroy it , it doesn't belong, that is why anti-rejection drugs are needed-for the rest of her life. Her niece is going to be a direct donor, what a sacrifice she is making, She says she is happy to do it. Wow...
--Cold weather just keeps hangin' on. I am really ready for spring. Yesterday morn was 8 degrees- this morn 12. About 3 inches of dry/crusty snow on top of treacherous Ice most everywhere. My strap on cleats are great, otherwise you can't hardly stay standing. The hard snow does make it a little less slippery. Everything looks dirty, like old snow gets, grey- ucky... Oh well, I need to quit bitchin' life is good.
Beautiful out and no wind. But it's cold as a mother. At the grocery store last night the cashier said, oh you decided to brave the cold and come out for groceries? I thought for a second and said, ah, this is nothing. She just looked at me.
Greg prayers that everything goes okay. I didn't know she would have to take those rejection drugs forever. I thought after it was in there awhile the body would accept it, if it didn't already reject it. What an intense machine our bodies are.
Norm I didn't know Kaiser made the M38's. I guess I thought Ford did. I know they made the MUTT. And got mad if you didn't call it that.
More painting today. Gotta end early so I can get ready for work in the morning. I don't expect any extra drama or grief from work this week.
I was correct on the 4-wheel locking hubs - engagement is inside the cab. I believe the transmission is a Borg-Warner T90 transmission coupled to a Dana Spicer Model 18 Transfer Case. The transfer case features dual modes (2wd + 4wd) and dual ranges (Hi + Lo). Basically three linkages inside the cab above the transmission housing. You can easily see the linkages on many websites, the video below shows them kind of clearly, although the guy in the cab didn't really do a great job of demonstrating the shifting; but, I think I got this.

Wonderful job Norm. Very nice of you to check this out and take video. Did he let you drive it?
So far the score for the bedroom is two walls finished, third wall first coat. I'll move my bed this week and get it all done. Then I can clean the carpet as well.
Been sunny all day and it warmed up a little. No wind. Haven't heard what the week will be like, hope it's nice.
James - Does this mean you're buying the one Norm went to check out? If so, that's great, and a great scouting job by Norm! I watched both videos, which were very well done, and it looks like a very stout specimen. I was surprised how clean the engine bay was and how good the motor sounded!
Chris,
Yes, Norm did a great job for me. He studied M 38 A 1 before he took his trip and knew what to look for. I ma eternally grateful. It would/ could have been a 2 day job that I never could have made
My business just doesn't let me get that out of touch
