Good evening guys,
Absolutely gorgeous day here, it's still 71° right now at 1730! Played with the dogs out in the yard and took them for a walk around part of the neighborhood. Washed the daily driver and got all the salt off it from that minor snow event we had Friday when I went to watch my grandsons.

My wife finished a beautiful antique buffet today. The thing is massive, 6-ft. long, solid oak, and weighs a frickin ton!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Yes, we drove the vehicle, I ran it through all gears. Pretty solid buggy for 68 years of age. BTW, the heater and the heater blower motor both work - great. I had read those were hard to come by & expensive.

We now need to get to Jim's place....

Chris - That behemoth antique buffet is gorgeous. Personally, I like my furniture just like my women - all natural. I would never paint a solid oak piece of furniture, but that's just me - it matters none what I prefer, only what the buyer prefers. Nice job.

Norm - Thanks, I'll let her know. I agree with you 100% on not painting solid oak or other high quality hardwood pieces. None of the very nice antique pieces I inherited from my Mom are painted, and I never would. However, you also hit on the key point, it's not what you or I prefer, but what a buyer prefers, and the painted, or a combination of painted and stained surfaces are what are selling these days. Not my cup of tea, but she's sure sold a bunch of them now!

I have to say, that line from Ruth has to be my all time favorite! What a gal!!! If you can recapture your sanity while watching that series, you're a better man than I Gunga Din!

One of my coworker wheeling buddies has a civilian version, 1952 (?) CJ 3. It looks like a toy compared to my TJ.

Good on you, Norm, for checking out that rig for James. Sounds like all worked out great. Chris, another work of art from your wifey! How is she doing now? Ken, those pics really show the differences in the old and new Jeep. I thought they were about the same before seeing those! I've never owned one but like 'em. Thanks for all the well wishes for my wife guys!

Greg - Thanks for the compliment on my wife's work, I'll let her know. You guys' compliments mean alot to her. As for how she's doing, her surgery is scheduled for the 22nd of March, when they're scheduled to remove 3 troublesome areas. Only 1 of the 3 areas was found to be pre-cancerous, but the other 2 cysts are causing her pain and occasional bleeding so they are going to go ahead and remove them while she's put under. Doctor thinks there is no reason she shouldn't be fine after the surgery. Of course she'll have to be watched much more closely from here on out since the one area was found to be pre-cancerous. Thanks for asking! You guys are in our prayers that your wife's surgery goes well on Friday, and that your wife's and niece's recovery is a smooth one!

On a happier topic, I am supposed to have a 45th Highschool Reunion up there sometime this summer in Battle Creek. I'm not sure of the date yet, but I'm hoping my wife and I can be up there for more than a day (need to find a dog sitter) or two, and that we can possibly schedule a get together with you and Dan to have dinner and a few cold ones. I'll let you know more as soon as I find out when we'll be up there.

James - Agree. The metal frame was solid. Depending on the type & availability of canvas having a good working heater/blower would be the cat’s meow.

Norm, great to see you helping Jamesbo out. Chris, my mom had a buffet? similar in style to that one, my sister got it after she passed, not sure if my neice now has it or not. Oh, and Gilmore, Gilmore, GILMORE! for your summer visit. ya gotta sneak in a visit. The jeeps just keep getting bigger with every generation, the new ones are bigger yet.. A buddy of mine had a Levi's edition CJ5 back in the late 70's early 80's, it was fun to tear around in, but jeesh it beat ya up.

In my [rather stupid bullet proof] youth. I often pulled and M 38 A 1 with a tow bar on the front with my CJ 5 the M 38 had a custom built dog box on the back that added some weight but the CJ had to pull it through turns [even going down hill] or the M 38 would decide to go off on it's own and would pull the A$$ end of the CJ with it

I think the paint of the M 38 weighted more than the CJ 5

James - I hear ya! I used to haul alot of oak/hickory firewood from 120-miles away on a 20-ft. dual axle trailer. Learned real quick I had better not put much weight behind that 2nd axle or that trailer was gonna be slinging my F150 all over the place.

"Jamesbo... You can call me Jim like everyone else... No I'm going to call you Jamesbo!" This exchange took place next to The Texas locomotive.

Aloha

Pretty, pretty day out and in the 60s. I ran a couple errands this afternoon without a jacket, I thought it was spring. Nope, next week.

Kenneth the red Jeep looks like a toy next to yours.

Dan I remember when I was a kid I saw a Levi's Gremlin at Pizza Hut once. I really thought the seats were made out of Levi's. They did have the red tag on the side of the backrest.

No lead today. He's at a two day class for the company. So of course the slackers had to screw around and we didn't finish until about 220. I did hear that since we've sort of been done out of going home at 2 that this was a trial run for not finishing at all until the elite figure things out. I'm good with that it's the only way to get the message across, throw out the anchor.

I like this staying lighter in the evening but it messes with my going to bed. I feel like I should be up as long as it's light out.

Well the pressure is off, Monday is done for the week.

Peace

Dan - I really do need to make it to the Gilmore, especially since I've never been. I don't remember the date right off hand, but I saw where they were having a Muscle Car Show one weekend this summer, I'd love to see that. I come up there so seldom anymore that I hate to spend time doing anything else but visiting with family. Besides my sister, I still have 3 aunts and a slew of cousins and their kids that live in the area. I may have to wait to hit the Gilmore sometime when I can make it up there by myself.

Mike, Here's one to ponder. If Buckhead becomes a separate city [ Like they are trying to do] The "Atlanta History Center" won't be in Atlanta

Aloha

Rain isn't here yet but it's coming. Kind of warmish out, very cloudy. I'm tired of rain.

Work was funny. We were about 20 short at the end, not sure if it was part of the plan, or it could have been that we were short hardware all day. Either way, I watched Red Dog the movie. Come to think of it, had I been in Australia this past weekend like I should have been, I would have watched it on the airplane.

A friend of mine said he heard talk about a national speed limit of 55. That might just cause a problem. Oddly enough I remember as a kid when that was first put in back in the 70s, but I don't remember if it's ever officially been rescinded. I still see it in an awful lot of places. Hope it's just a rumor.

Think I'll take today off from worrying about getting anything done. Grab a snack, look at the internet, just chill. Sounds good.

Peace

Wow, I think a national 55 speed limit would be political suicide for whoever is in power.

Just listed my Orange Micro Terror + Speaker on CL. Going to see how much time remains for reassembling the '71 CS dash/AC. Heard from the person (Frank) who did the original restoration to clock I purchased, he said it had a little bit of carbon buildup on the gears - probably from sitting somehow (I don't know how that would occur). At any rate, he called me, apologized it wasn't working properly, addressed the issue, properly lubed up the gears w/ the correct lube oil, stated any issues just give him a call. He's sending back to me today after running it on his bench for x3 days. Pretty decent guy really. I mean seriously, we're talking about an electro-mechanical clock for a car not some device raising & lowering U-235 rods in a nuclear power plant. Next up I'm going to list my vintage 1987 American Made Fender Stratocaster. Peace, Love & Wet....

Let's be honest... a 55mph speed limit is something that we'd all get behind to oppose.

Dash reassembly didn't happen - putting tools away & spending quality time cleaning my golf clubs/irons took precedence.

Chris, they added a new show in May, an all GM car show. It will feature H/O's as well. They added a musclecar show in June, but eliminated the long running fall musclecar show. The Red Barns Spectacular in August, is the big kahuna car event there, and features cars from all era's. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/g...dule-flyer.pdf

Good evening guys,

Busy couple of days. Wife had a bonanza sale day yesterday, she sold 4 pieces to 3 different people. All the pieces were large dressers, and all the drawers had to be removed and carried up to the garage individually or by twos, because the dressers are too heavy for my wife to carry up with them in. That was most of our day yesterday, with the buyers coming at different times throughout the day. Nice payday for her!

Today I was on doggy duty while my wife cleaned our neighbors house. When she got home around 1300, I started in on changing the oil and filters in both motorcycles. It's a big production to change the oil on those things because I need to ride them up onto 2"x10"s in order to be able to get a standard oil pan under them, and to get wrenches on a couple of the plugs. The Yamaha alone has 3 different oil plugs and the Indian has 2. I didn't get done with both bikes until a little after 1800. After rolling around on the concrete floor for 5 hours I feel like I was in a fight.

Now the next question is, do I feel like doing the same thing tomorrow to the 4-4-2, plus a front end lube job. I'd also like to put my 15" SS1's (pic) on this Spring, but I may opt just to take it to my local mechanic and have him put it up on the lift and swap them out quickly. I bought all new 7/16" chrome acorn style lug nuts to go on them.

Well, I hope everyone had a great day, I'm pooped!

Do you have a way to transport the Olds and the four new tires/wheels to the shop?

Dan - Thanks for the link to the Gilmore Shows Flyer, I was able to download it. I heard today from a buddy our 45-yr reunion has been scheduled for September 10th, no other details yet. I still think of all the shows that I'd enjoy the Muscle Car Show the best as long as they had a good turnout. My 2nd choice would be the All GM Show. Wish you guys were close to me, all of you would really enjoy the All Old's Fun Show put on by the Archway Old's Club of St. Louis. Last year there were a ton of really, really nice Old's there from all era's. It was the best show I went to last summer!
