Memorial Day

Please take the time today to give thanks for those who have paid for our freedom by making the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. Please say a prayer for the families left behind as they are left to rebuild their lives. Consider saying "Thank You For Your Service" when you see a person in uniform.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Our day of remembrance is Nov 11. However, I would like to pass on my thanks as a Canadian to American men & women who have and are serving their country. Our military is fighting in Afghanistan because our friends, our neighbours and our ally, was attacked.

To put it a typical Canadian way, we may not always agree, but we'll always be friends. All the best this Memorial Day 2011.

Amen! Heartfelt thanks to all who have served, and died, for our freedoms. Our flag proudly flew this weekend to honor them.
