Memorial Day

Being a veteran, I appreciate your comments. Today is the day to honor those that have paid the ultimate price with their lives. Please honor them and remember their families who will forever be affected by their sacrifice. May God bless them.

I agree. I am a navy veteran of Vietnam era. Didn't see the South China Sea but served in a critical area. I have to salute all of those that did serve in 'Nam. Heck I even hold no grudge of those that took ROTC (Ran Off To Canada) during Vietnam draft.

Remember our fallen. Us vets have the November holiday. Today is in honor of those who gave it all. Although we should support and respect all our service- men and women every day.
All gave some, some gave all.
Let's hope that by draft or by choice, they didn't die for nothing.

I know their are many from ALL generations with someone to memorialize for service to their country.
On Memorial Day, I honor the memory of my late Grandfather who served in WW2 and Korea, and my late Father who served in the Coast Guard. I have “shrines” to their service hanging up to ensure that
i remember them year-round, including my Grandpa’s battlefield commission letter from the waning days of WW2.
ON EDIT: Somewhat embarrassing, but Apparently even at my age, I misunderstand what Memorial Day is about - I thought it was for remembering those who served in the military and who are no longer with us (like my Father and maternal Grandfather) - when in fact it is reserved for those who died while serving, which I’m thankful neither did otherwise I would not have known them.

Actually I'm always taken back by when someone says "thanks for your service." I was cashing a couple of checks last week and the teller notice the veteran on my license and thank me. It took me a few seconds to realize what she was thanking me for. Fifty years went by fast. $109.50 a month, I was in the chips.

Draft ended as I was about to graduate high school. I thank God I did not have to go as my brother did and who was injured seriously in Vietnam. I am very thankful to all who served, serve, and gave their life for their country.

Burd, thanks for sharing that video. I have not seen that one before and it is delivered by the greatest President of my lifetime.
We are supposed to observe a moment of silence at 3:00 local time today. I know I will do that and hope others do too.
RIP Fallen Heros.
