Matress Rant.
Mattress Rant.
Yup here's Solly with another rant ( you told me I could hang around after selling the Olds)
They claim your mattress should be replaced about every ten years !! well if that's the case we got our moneys worth out of our 25 year old mattress !!!! After mattress shopping last week I know why we waited 25 years, these people are nuts !! we hit every place possible, Mattress Firm, Mattress 360, Sleep Number, Costco, living spaces, Vertol Mattress ,Brooklyn Bedding and checked out the on line offerings , the problem with on line is you cant test drive them !! They claim we spend 1/3 of our life in bed. For the most part the sales people were not pushy and helpful and knowledgeable about their product I 'm not sure how much of it was B.S. but I bought into some of it. I spent more time on mattress's last week than L.A. hooker !!!!!
I'm a side sleeper and the wife a back sleeper theoretically I should prefer medium and she should prefer firm but we both like firm (that helped) So on to the mattress 9 layers of this, two layers of that, middle layer of super magical variable rate coil springs, blah, blah, blah.
I made two mistakes , 1.I may have slipped and told the sales people I have a back problem, that makes their eyes as big as saucers and the wheels start turning in their heads GOT THEM NOW !! LETS STEP DOWN HERE TO THE SUPER SPINE-O-MATIC !! mistake # 2 and this was my fault , I tried one of the adjustable bases !! once I got in to the 10-12 degree position I was hooked !!
My wife and I have always been no frills basic type of people but again the part of me that says hey you worked hard time to step up the game a little took over. we bought a premium mattress with a adjustable base from Brooklyn Bedding .It was a presidents day sale with 30% off plus they gave my wife a educator discount and threw in some promo pillows and sheets plus I talked him out a set of king size premium pillows. While it was more than I wanted to spend I was semi prepared and it could have been worse !!
I dont know If I will be around to get 25 years out of this one but I'm going to try !!
Bottom line / last thought, If you haven't been mattress shopping lately be prepared to open your wallet !!
P/S the wife is mostly responsible for this !! happy wife happy life !! The guy at one place told me she's the important one guys are like dogs they can sleep anywhere !!

True with both of us as well. And when it came to getting a new mattress 8 years ago, Cathy did a bit of research to find a mattress that would not have potential allergens.
You could get an all-wool variety for 5 figures or a particular type of foam that didn't outgas, harbor creatures, or degrade quickly for $1k. The foam one has been the most comfortable and durable either one of us recall sleeping on.
And no allergies.
Just one experience at the low end of the price spectrum.

Checked Sams Club and Costco but the stores here had no floor models to test drive and unfortunately they have closed all the Big Lots stores in Arizona (bummer ) also found while visiting stores that manufactures definition of medium vs firm varies ,for instance Simmons version of firm is different than Sealy’s one of the big trends now are the Purple brand but wow they are $$$$$$. I’ve paid less for cars than they want for a king size Purple !!
My wife and I went through the same thing trying to find a new matress. After searching every store around, we couldn't find anything for less than $1000 (which I refused to pay...I'm cheap that way). Started searching Amazon and found this for less than $230 (and don't forget the free delivery).
Amazon.com: Vesgantti Queen Mattress, 10 Inch Hybrid Mattress with Memory Foam & Pocket Spring, Ergonomic Design for Pressure Relief, Medium Firm Feel Mattress in a Box (60 x 80 x10 Inches, Queen Size) : Home & Kitchen
Super comportable! So far, the quality seems fine. We've had ours for 2 years with no issues yet. But at that price, I could buy a new one every 3 years and still be saving money

Because of my neck issues, we ended up with the sooper dooper deeper sleeper model from somewhere and it has been pretty good. I bought a bamboo matress pad recently and it totally transformed the experience. Just like a nice car, the accessories can be a great improvement.
We bought from Brooklyn bedding also
$1600 bucks yes for a Mattress
supposed to last atleast 10 years,my ***!
they wont do crap about the mattress suck's after 3,4 years. Now debating on getting another one,
too soft, sinks too much can’t win.

Yup , I think that’s why we got 25 years from ours ! ( flipping) this new one has a zippered compartment on top that’s about 1/3 of the mattress depth, it can be unzipped and its contents ( micro springs and foam ) can be flipped and rotated (suggested by manufac min. once a year ) we will see !!!
