loads of vehicle troubles
started Sunday. i just got home from a 3 wheeler race and delivering some olds diesel engines to Medina OH. (about 700 miles round trip) as i turned the corner at my house the Allison transmission in my truck went out. $3500 for a major rebuild but my transmission guy said he does not think i will need a major rebuild, we will see. then Tuesday i drove the 72 cutlass to work and when i got home my wife said the brakes on her van were pulling hard to the right. all it ended up being was a rock stuck in the brake caliper. now today i took my oldest girl for a hike trip about 40 miles from home. half way around the trail we were hiking, my wife called me and said the oil light came on on the 72 cutlass and she was stuck in town. between the last of the hike and the drive home i was over 2 hours away. my dad went to check it out. it was 1/2 qt low on oil and Scott442 changed the sending unit before i got the car so i was a little worried. after i got home i found out that they decided to drive it home. i changed the sending unit and it works good now. just glad it was not the oil pump. the new sending unit Scott had got went out. i don't think i want to touch another car or truck for another week or two.
my transmission guy is one of the best but you have to pay a higher price for it. when i dropped it off he looked at the miles (115,000 miles) and said that is nothing at all for an Allison that was not abused so i hope to get out of it with a small bill.
