little Johnny masters Omamacare

It's actually already happening in some quarters. Here's an example, courtesy of NBC News.
Workers at auto dealership come face to face with Obamacare trade-offs
http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_n...are-trade-offs
Employers, especially small ones, will discover that the requirements of Obamacare render invalid the plans they had been offering their employees. They won't be able to afford to offer plans that do comply, so, as this company in the story above has done, they will simply stop offering an insurance plan and instead give their employees an allowance to help them purchase a plan on the individual exchanges (assuming the website works by then). Then these people will discover the same things that those who buy insurance individually have discovered now...the only plans that comply cost two or three times as much, have deductibles so high that the insurance barely kicks in, anyway, and their doctor networks are reduced, so they might lose the physician they've always had.
As you say, the excrement hitting the air-moving device will really be something to see.

I agree with this, but I would like to point out (because it's easy to lose sight of these things) that Canadians might feel exactly the same way about their country, and that it is the gentlemanly thing not to make it a point of contention.

I think he made a great point that we all live to about the same age/life expectancy. Really, that's what it boils down to. We happen to live in the best country ever created. Health care or no. The Gov is just going to take a heapin helpin of what's in our wallets if you happen to make decent money. If not, it's free. Just like it always was. Canada has its good points. I just don't know any. The only thing I have ever heard of is that Canadians go to other countries to use their health care systems because the Canadian system is unable to meet their needs. I personally know a woman who went to europe for hip surgery dealing with cancer because she can't get it in Canada. I've NEVER heard of this from a US citizen. My sister lives in Toronto. (The family has disowned her) MD, THAT WAS A GREAT POST.
Apparently, you missed your calling at the UN....but the "sister" comment tells me a lot.

I realize that this thread has been dormant for a couple of weeks, but here's an interesting article of some relevance.
Report: Tens of thousands fled socialized Canadian medicine in 2013

I've often thought that the reason the Canadian system works is that it has the U.S. right next door to serve as a safety valve.

Interesting, but an inadequate article from a politically motivated source.
If they had broken down the information into other factors, such as ages, income groups, nationalities (Canadians with US spouses who go across the border for some things on the spouse's insurance - there are plenty of them), and actual medical procedures performed, it might have been valuable. As it is, it's just bombast.
I'm always interested in seeing new data, but there were none there.
