If you've never seen a DC plate, they say "Taxation without Representation".

My buddy from New Hampshire said to me one time, "Land of F'in Lincoln? What kind of motto is that?" New Hampshire's is "Live free or die." I like it better.

The Oregon one is true. It almost destroyed our state and surprise, it wasn't true they were endangered(before they shut down logging). I got in on the logging for 4 years and it was a great job, $15 an hour in the 80's. It got to where I had to move to Colorado to work and then I found something else to do. We lost so much money from the lack of timber taxes that are schools are suffering and they used to be very well funded. A lot of our small communities on the east side of the state are almost ghost towns because of the lack of family wage jobs in the mills and the woods.

There are a few bumpers stickers I have seen in Maine and New Hampshire:
"If you object to Logging, try using plastic toilet paper!"
Oregon and Maine are very much the same, have a City of Portland, forests, deserts (more in Oregon than Maine), and super-lefites that is hell-bent on destroying business and taxation.
