Kids these days
Like I said earlier, most people aren't aware of what's already happened.
Indiana BMV: Secure ID Driver's License and ID Cards
Indiana BMV: Secure ID Documents
When you bring the 5 required documents to the BMV, they'll reissue you an Operator's License that has a gold star in the upper right hand corner. Regardless of whether you qualify for the SecureID or not, your photograph will be added to the facial recognition database.
Although people tend to think of Indiana as a backward midwestern state, it isn't. It actually leads the states when it comes to adopting new federalized standards. Take a look at the Indiana Code. In the past decade much of it has been repealed and revised to conform with Federal standards. Most of the Indiana laws that used to differ from Federal laws have quietly been repealed, so that Indiana is now one of the leading conformist states. After Mitch Daniels finished his term as one of Bush's cabinet members, he became the Governor of Indiana. Many things changed during his tenure. Indiana is now one of the leading states in adopting the Federal standards.

I know Indiana is a bit behind the left & right coast on things like this so maybe it's coming our way?

here's the official US Immigrations & Customs Enforcement Detention Facility Locator. The number of new federal detention facilities that are being built is mind boggling.

Looking at the official site, the current number of detention centers in ConUS is 82.

We don't have any "secure id" here in Indiana & I don't believe that they will deport you or take you to a detention center if you can't prove citizenship. I have a good friend/neighbor & he has never mentioned anything about things like this? I've never been arrested....yet.... so I can't say for sure. I was originally a FL resident, and had driver's licenses for a number of years (16 or so) from that state, being a native Floridian. I went to grad school in 04 in IN, then maintained residence in IN in an apartment while working, but kept my legal residence as FL, as the apartment was legally temporary. I had an IN State ID card from 04. It expired in 12, and it could not be renewed due to the SecureID thing that Indiana went to in 2010, and you are no longer permitted to have state ID cards with an out of state DL. I now have an IN driver's license, which has a gold star on the top right. This means it's a SecureID.

Thanks to all that posted the info. I guess I do kind of remember something about this back in '10. Having been born & raised here & having my license for about 30 years now I've never had to provide any paper work or prove anything. I think I read some where that you have to provide all that documentation to get a NEW license, but since all I've ever done is renew my old license I have not had to do this. Maybe when my license expires in a couple years I'll have to produce my papers. As for now, no gold star for me, just like in school.
