Getting to be old news but the bear is back

About 30 minutes ago I ran a bear (actually the dog ran it off I just stood there with my mouth open as usual). This time it was a fairly small bear and it didn't have time to get into the garage. I was 10 feet from a firearm and about 10 feet from the bear but it was over before I even thought about it.... Just another adventure in the life and times of .... Tedd

Tedd, you need a pistolero belt and a Model 29 to wear around the house.

It Was a black bear booth in color and species , that's the only kind of wild bears in California despite what is on the state flag. And packing a large frame hand gun on your hip all day and into the night soon becomes a pain in the *** literally, been there done that. I probably only had 3 seconds to react, not enough time for a old fart to do much. Though I have shot thousands of rounds in cowboy action shoots not much practice in quick draw action. I still have all my toes and no holes in my legs ether.Quick draw is for Hollywood..... Tedd

PS. The fires are all way south of me and they can stay there if it was up to me, we had our issues with fires a couple months ago we in the north are in winter mode now. 13 inches rain so far at my house but nice and sunny for the last week.. Top down...Tedd

You know Tedd, you should be nice to your visitor. Maybe you need to set out some dog food and lime green Kool-Aid for him...

Really though, I hope he stops visiting. It would definitely get annoying having an animal like that hanging around.

This is probably a state sponsored bear as it is. The ones they capture are sometimes released 15 miles from here, some can beat the capture truck home.

I've talked to three Wardens and a couple of Sheriff officers and the general rule is if the bear becomes destructive or appears dangerous to the dogs property or people I can do what ever is necessary to get rid of it, and I will. I don't pictorially want to kill the damn thing but it has already bent my garage door, tore up a plastic garbage dog food can and is showing little fear of the presents of humans. I would like to just pepper it with a shotgun at distance and put the fear of humans back into it.There is nothing harder to dispose of than a dead bear..... Tedd

I just don't get the idea of relocating bears behaving badly. Unless they can be relocated to the middle of nowhere, they just become a problem for someone else. They do the same thing in my state.

If you had to kill the bear would the state dispose of the body for you? I can only imagine how difficult it would be to move a bear carcass.

Maybe you can catch hm in the act of digging through your trash cans after the holiday and hit him with a load of salt or bird shot. Good luck.
