Gas cards, Best savings?

Does anyone use a gas card and does it save much? I had a Sunoco card many years ago and then all those stations went away in my area. I went to a BP cars but now most BP in my area are a dump and not maintained. I would like to find one that is a general card I could use at any station and no annual fee but offer gas discounts. We are going to be taking a 4200 mile trip in the coming months and wondering what the options are. I googled it and lots of them pop up. Just wondering if anyone has first hand experience with one they like and what the discounts are. My credit is not a problem.

I use my regular credit cards for that purpose in most cases in place of cash year round. I get cash back for the amount spent on all purchases not only gas but also including hotels and restaurants. I earn more spending money in cash bonuses than the interest in bank accounts, go figure.

Do you have Costco where you live? I live in Cal and you get, I think 4 per cent per dollar, and in Cal gas is almost 4 bucks a gallon, adds up. , you get it back but once a year, but with the other things I buy, I get about $700 a year.

I have a Meijers card, 10 cents off a gallon and for every $700 spent overall, you $10 in Meijer discount on anything. Or have Shell fuel rewards and use any card and get 5 cents/ gal and the more your spend ,the bigger the money off.

I have a Shell fuel rewards card and also get the .05 per gallon. They say it's only good for 20 gallons but I have went past 20 several times and it still gives the .05 savings. One thing that really pisses me off is how credit rating services give your score. I don't owe anything to anybody, house is paid for,no car payments etc. My credit score is good with a 757 with FICO but it use to be in the high 800's. With not having a monthly payment on anything it hurts my score,go figure.

I go to BP and use their app BP me. If you spend $100 within 1 month, you will get 5 cents off.

Actually getting rid of your accounts hurt your score more. Available credit is good, your score goes down as your debt to earnings ratio increases.

I actually don't know what my credit score is but likely less than it was. We have been debt free for 5 years and only have the one credit card that we pay off every month. Likely my credit is going down but I would not have a problem getting a card.

I was told last night that Bank od America Customized Cash Rewards is a good one. Anyone try it?

I have Chase Sapphire Preferred. It has an annual fee, but since I rack up hundreds of dollars in cash back savings, it makes it well worth it. 1 point per dollar purchased. I direct all of my utilities and membership fees to my credit card, so that I rack up as many points as possible.

A couple of coworkers of mine play the credit card shuffle to rack up frequent flier points, so that they can take advantage of free travel. It does not affect their credit scores in a negative way (they all have finance backgrounds, as do I).
