G.I. Joe turns 50 Today

Howdy fellas,

I was born in March 1964 and as a little kid to a preteen I played with and enjoyed the greatness of Joe. Especially the Training Center w/Tower and a rubber snake. Man me and my neighborhood kids loved Joe. Big Time.

Nice, I had GI Joe and that same Evel Knievel set.

When I was a little boy.

Momma Bought me a brand new toy.

It was a G.I. Joe.

With Combat Gear from Head to toe.

When I was 17 Years old.

I ended up on an Army post.

They took away my faded Jeans.

And issued me these Army Greens.

They took away my tennis shoes.

And issued me these Combat Boots.

Now Im a G.I. Joe.

With Combat Gear from head to toe.

One of the best car commercials I've seen in recent years was the Nissan Z car where Joe stole Barbie right out from under Ken. Hmm- Joe's 50, Barbie's 55- who knew that busty doll was a cougar at heart?!

Joe's still a good toy for a boy- and contrary to weenie opinion, I can't see where playing Army ever screwed up any kid. The real thing, now that's different. I know several ex-military who are having a hard time because of what they saw and did.

Fighting man from head to toe!
Nice flashback. I spent many an hour w/ Joe and my Johnny Eagle Lieutenant.

Still have my GI Joe and his jeep from when I was a kid in the 80's, gave them to my son and he's now enjoying him. Good toys always last and stay in style.

This sure brings back memories.
I had both Joe and Evel, but I did not play with them much.

This one I had and loved it!

In fact my faves were Tonka trucks, Hot wheels cars, model trains and all related type toys.
No wonder I turned out to be a(n) (old) car guy!
