Jamesbo - this "bear" thread's for you!
(He is the resident CO bear expert.)

How do the battery cables look? Look closely at the ends.
Is the negative cable securely connected to the engine block? Paint removed from area where the cable attaches to?
Was the starter shimmed correctly upon installation?

What is the condition of the engine - has it run before after rebuild?
If never run after rebuild, did you squirt some oil in the cyl. bores before attempting to start?

If the engine has not run for a few years. Pull all of the spark plugs a pour a little Marvins mystery oil in the cylinders and turn over by hand with a breaker bar and socket. This should help free things up. Check all of the ground cables, make sure the ground strap from the engine to the negitive battery terminal is good, also check the bonding strap from the engine to the body and make sure it is installed both are common problems.

I would get the engine to top dead center and pull the dist. out and prime the oil pump. When put it back in make sure your timing is right.

That should be your problem. I have experienced that issue before.
Best of luck!

Sounds like your problem, not much of a path to the block/starter from there. You should see a difference.
The bear went over the mountain with the lob wedge to see what he could see.

Speaking of bears... Tiger's going to be playing again, golf that is.
The gallery chatter is going be great.
Just a cough and he threw a fit before.

Poor ol' Tiger.
