I bought this car probably 20 years ago for the engine. The previous owner obviously spent a lot of time cutting the car in half, and putting it somewhat back together. I have no clue why he abandoned the project.
By my guestimation, he cut about 2.5 feet out of the center of the car. At the time, I was about 40 pounds lighter, I couldn’t get in the car from the drivers side. I drove the car on and off the trailer from the backseat.
I pulled the engine and sold the remains to a friends mom who collects first gen Toronados. There was a ton of trim and miscellaneous parts in the trunk.
Other than the moss growing on it, it’s pretty much how I remember it. After a cheap dingle ball hone re-ring, the engine was in my 69 for a summer. Then it was in my 87 Cutlass. Now the engine will be going in project Olds-Camino.
Sounds like that was done many years ago, Glenn. Good thing you got a pic of it Matt. Yeah it's funny how much work someone will go to to make a atrocity!!
What that thing is funky. I assume no side windows?
no glass or regulators. I always wondered if that’s why the project stopped. Other than the backseat and dash, there was no interior. They definitely took their time with cutting the floor, roof and doors. Nice clean cuts, nice metalwork, and decent bodywork.
The car was pretty solid at the time, I often wondered what made someone decide a project like this was a good idea.
Time a torch and a vision... Then oops. When people chop the top on cars windows are a huge hurdle. That car making those windows would be very costly. Let alone what was the plan for seating in there.
