Fifth annual wild game feed tomorrow night

Here we go again our fifth or sixth year of hosting the wild game dinner pot luck, we eat what you brought, everything has to been ether shot caught or gathered and cooked by the participant, no Safeway specials allowed. You can't believe the variety of good stuff that our friends come up with and the different and usual ways it gets prepared Last year oysters on the half shell, barbecued abalone, pheasants and dumplings, Brandy cranberry quail, all kinds of venison and elk, we even had a wild apple pie just to name a few.

The libations flowed freely with several homemade and very good micro brews and I do remember somewhat that someone brought a little white lighting and homemade spiced rum along with some homemade wine, something for everyone.

This may be the last year at our house as we are running flat out of room and dining space, we have had to turn down a few people for the lack of space. I think at last count there were over 20 people confirmed(they always bring friends) and that's not counting our family.

I'll report back on any exceptional dishes, abnormalities or things that didn't make the gourmet cut. This is going to be fun....Tedd

Sounds like great fun. We used to do something like that when we lived in Anchorage.
You may just have to add on more space........

Having witnessed your menus over the past few years, my only wish is that I lived closer.

Arrrgh...I drank and ate to much! Slight hangover this morning or I have contracted Ebola, not sure which yet.
.
Food was exceptional and as usual quite different than last year. There were at least 5 or 6 different hors d'oeuvres, starting with smoked salmon on cream cheese and crackers, bite sizes venison hart or liver with bacon skewered with a dipping sauce,Elk tinder loins and bacon baked with some kind of brown sugar mix, super good.We followed up with the main courses of chimichanga, elk meat *****, two types, venison stroganoff,Two kinds of chile, corn muffins, pheasant and dumplings, good enough to kill for. and last and the very best wild apple pie you ever put your tongue on.

Libations were many, no micro brews this year for some reason but homemade spirits were abundant.Captain Teddys spiced rum was a hit as was the white lighting and rye whisky. I know that's the reason my head is a hurting today.

Plans are being made for next spring for another feast. probably bigger and better than this year....Tedd

You are not cooking that goose correctly if it is your least favorite.

Here are a few pic of the happening and dead animals on the wall . The wooden moose(Bullwinkle) came with the wife when she moved in, she was a bargain, moose, gun and a four wheel drive, yep she is a keeper. Tedd
