Bi- anual wild game feed at the Thompsons
Bi- anual wild game feed at the Thompsons
It's that time again, every six months or so we who slay Bambi and other wild critters get together and have this wild game feed. The only requirements are bring your best or most unusual wild game dish or homemade beverage.
This is about our sixth year and it's grown to the point that my house is at it's capacity limit,I think 26 confirmed adults and an unknown amount of children and a few hanger on uninvited just thought I would drop on by types, there is always more than enough food for the surprise drop ins though.
I'll have a food up date if someone brings something truly unique or obnoxious, so far every year they have....Anyone for rattlesnake appetizers?......Tedd

Here is a run down of the dinner offerings as best as I can remember(there was a lot different stuff).
Duck breast wrapped in bacon and peppers (poppers)
Smoked bear sausages(super good)
Smoked bear steak slightly warmed on the BBQ (a bit dry but good flavor)
Ham of wild hog not smoked (didn't try this)
Pheasant and dumplings(super super good)
Pheasant with a cream sauce( second best pheasant dish)
Rock cod deep fat fried (not my favorite but not bad)
Oysters on the half shell some with hot sauce some with a cheese sauce (didn't try this)
Venison shi-ka-bob (super good went back for thirds)
Elk hamberger meat ***** wrapped in bacon dipped in several types of sauces (this wasn't one of my favorite)
Wild apple pie( absolutely the best I've ever had) if it wasn't there I would have had room for more different stuff.
As far as beverages go there was enough special spirits to start a new season of moonshiners , enough said..
I know there were other dishes but my memory has left me( a little foggy from grog perhaps)
All in all it was a great time with plans for this spring on everyones must do list. If it's any bigger it's gotta be at someone else's home as I am maxed out for room....Tedd
